The Cost of memories holds a dear place in my heart!
Does Naruto really have any good memories of the Leaf?
Home was something Naruto never had, Kagami knew that all too well. Much as he claimed to love the Leaf, Naruto had been treated with hate, distance and abuse for all he could remember. Walking through the village as he was, tired from training, only solidified for Kagami that maybe the Leaf was not going to be his home. Hateful glares fixed on him as Yugao walked him to his apartment.
They were in the same district as Naruto's apartment, walking toward the same building as Naruto's in fact. Curious, he asked why.
"Your apartment is in the same building, the theory is that you could bond with your brother in some way. He is alone, as are you. Sadly, you both carry the hate of the Leaf for no real good reason." She gestured to the hateful eyes staring at him. "You cannot shake that, sadly, it is too engrained in their hearts. I am sorry for that."
Kagami sighed. "I figured you'd say that..." Soon they were walking into his apartment, literally one door from Naruto's. It was identical to Naruto's, only nicely and newly furnished. "Say thanks to whoever furnished it."
"I will, the Hokage will be pleased to hear your gratitude."
Smiling, he put his stuff down. "So, what next?"
She gestured to the scroll of books she gave him. "Read those... but I would also go to the BBQ shop by the Bridge in district three around seven. Your classmates are there, having a reunion. They were already informed of your existence, but this would be a good chance to be connected to them, to the village."
Kagami frowned. "I cannot remember Naruto really ever talking to most of them without abuse. Maybe Shino, yeah just Shino and Hinata..."
"It would do you some good to not isolate."
"Fine... I'll go."
"Good... now, I have to go... so behave yourself, and have a good day. Okay, kid?" She gave him a warm smile and he felt uplifted by it.
"I'll try."
And she was gone, leaving him to roam through his apartment and check it out before rushing off to this get together before it was time to be there. Walking through the stream of hateful stares was hard, but he managed it.
He saw Ino first thing, gaping at him. "Your chakra, it's so different! Softer than Naruto's, colder, and less... just less."
He sighed, something he had been doing a lot. "I am basically a newborn, so it makes sense."
She nodded. "You're right... Kagami, right?" He nodded. "I hope your not as annoying as Naruto."
"And I hope your not still not trying suck off the prettiest boy nearby now that Sasuke is gone." He walked past her gaping face, having no idea where that came from. Still, he enjoyed it, the dark quip and her pained expression was perfect for his soul. "Wonder if I am at risk." She actually cringed, looking close to tears. Oddly, he didn't care, to many memories of her being a bully.
Walking into the shop, he saw literally everyone else, including Team Nine, looking at him with shock. What they didn't see was the horrible flashbacks in his mind, as he looked at each of them...
"What?" he barely managed to ask, getting through the horrible memories flooding his mind.
Shikamaru, glaring, said. "Other than you looking just like Naruto, but not being him, we heard you being awful to Ino."
Kagami glared right back. "You mean the girl that bullied Naruto daily, worked with Sakura to hurt him, hit him and rile other bullies against him?" Everyone cringed, especially Sakura. "Or should I bring up how she like everyone mocked him for being an orphan, or just flat out isolated him when he needed help? I cannot think of a single good memory of anyone of you, bar Neji and Lee.
Even Hinata and Shino, I only remember what you didn't do more than what you did! You ignored, hated, and abused Naruto, all of you. Why should I befriend you when alL is see is his isolation and abuse?" The room went dead quiet, to the point other patrons were looking at Kagami. Sighing, he bowed to Lee and Neji. "You two, I am willing to be friends with, if you wish to train or just talk, please do...as for the rest of you, get fucked."
He stormed off, never noticing Lee and Neji following behind him or the eyes of Tsunade using the Hokage orb to watch him.
"""
"Was Naruto's life so bad?" Tsunade asked Yugao, from her place in the Hokage's office.
Yugao sighed. " He was hated, abused and mistreated by everyone. Even Iruka for a time. I am still baffled by his loyalty. It seems Kagami is not so blindly forgiving."
"That could a problem, one of our own making but still... we need to get him allies, connections, or he could be a serious issue."
Inoichi, also in the room. "I am peeved how he talked to Ino, but if it was true how she acted... I can understand it. We will be having a serious talk."
Tsunade sighed. "Any ideas to help Kagami connect?"
No one really said a word, all unsure of how to help the angry new soul.
