CHAPTER 1 – BAG END, THE SHIRE

Later that evening, as Sam and Rosie tucked in their children, Frodo helped Malinda get ready for bed. He even tucked in Malinda, moments before pulling out a book from the nearest bookshelf. As he read to her, Frodo could see Malinda's interest beam across her face. When the story was over, Frodo heard Malinda say:

"Does that stuff written really happen?"

"That depends. Sometimes books leave out information. Other times, one couldn't tell the whole story; in other words, the truth," said Frodo, answering to the best of his knowledge.

"How come?" asked Malinda, becoming inquisitive.

"Malinda, if everyone knew the truth, then we wouldn't have all these liars around. It would be nice not to have liars, but things don't work out that way in reality," said Frodo. "Now, go to sleep."

Malinda settled in her bed. "You're a really good storyteller, Frodo."

"Do you think so?" asked Frodo, curious.

"Well, my father tells better stories," said Malinda, truthfully.

Frodo, questioning Merry's ability to tell stories, said, "I'm sure he does." He kissed Malinda on the forehead. Feeling a spark in his heart, Frodo told her in a loving manner, "Good night, Malinda."

"Good night, Frodo," said Malinda, sleepily.

Frodo closed the bedroom door, moments before Malinda fell into a deep sleep.

CHAPTER 2 – THE FIELD/THE TOWER

"Move it, scars!" called one of the orcs, snapping a whip at the animals.

The scarred lions and lionesses had worked nonstop in the field near the mine. At times, they were allowed to get water. Most of their time was spent on separating the gems from the rocks. Warley, a scarred lion, waited for word from one of the scarred lionesses. Once the signal was given, Warley returned to Tack, another scarred lion who was muscular-built.

"The plan is in motion. What do we do?" asked Warley, growing excited and nervous.

"Wait for it," said Tack.

The second the mine cart didn't work, and the orcs were occupied, Tack worked on the chains. Once he managed to get himself and Warley free, Tack bolted across the field. Warley took another direction. The orcs chased after Tack and Warley, only managing to capture Tack.

"Let him go! We have the jail breaker," said the orc captain. "Let's take him to our masters and mistresses."

After tying ropes around Tack, the orcs led the scarred lion away from the field.

o-o-o

Tack lost track of how long he had been walking. Eventually, the field vanished from his sight. The orcs led Tack across a barren landscape. Before them stood a single obsidian tower with spikes; next to the tower was what appeared to be a wide underground chasm, filled with cages and cells. Approaching the tower, the orcs stopped Tack as soon as a witch and a woman with dark locks of hair descended from a stairway. The woman wore a red-and-black dress. The witch was Maleficent, and she did not look pleased to see the orcs.

Grinning before the orcs, Maleficent said, "What do we have here?"

"A prisoner. He tried to escape the field," said one of the orcs.

"And his accomplice?" asked the woman.

"Escaped," said the same orc.

"You let him escape?" asked the woman, furious. She slapped the orc hard across his face. She yelled, "Never let a prisoner escape!"

"Who are you?" asked Tack, nervous.

The woman cackled. "People call me Evil. Personally, I think it works." She told the orcs, "Send this scarred lion into the caves, in the deepest, darkest part of the dungeon."

"Yes, your mistress," said the orcs. With a tug, the orcs led Tack down into the caves.

CHAPTER 4 – PRYDAIN/UNICORN WORLD

At the land Prydain, things were far from peaceful. In the years since Gurgi's return, Aslan waited a month before freezing that land's time. Since then, Gurgi witnessed chaos and destruction. Some of the villages managed to keep the peace, but the various kingdoms suffered.

Today, Gurgi was near the Fair Folk Mine. Here, he witnessed a group of villains wearing dark robes. They stopped the people on their travels and took their money. As Gurgi watched the darkening events, he retrieved from his enchanted wallet an apple, which made his mouth water. He was about to bite down on the apple, when one of the horsemen kicked it away. Angered, Gurgi chased after the apple. He came face-to-face with a white horse with a long horn and goat-hoofs. Gurgi was entranced by the beast, asking:

"Gurgi has never seen your kind before," said Gurgi, impressed.

"My name is Summer. And you must be Gurgi," said the unicorn, introducing herself. Just as she watched the action, Summer said, "You'd best get on my back."

"Gurgi cannot ride horses," said Gurgi, admitting freely.

"No silly. I am a unicorn, and you are more than welcome on my back," said Summer, lying down before him.

As Gurgi got on the back of the unicorn, he looked astonished when the unicorn stood up. She tore off at a full gallop across the land. When she reached a portal, the unicorn passed through it gracefully. Gurgi had to hold onto the white mane to keep from falling off.

o-o-o

Summer returned to her land, which was filled with unicorns. Gurgi stumbled getting off Summer's back, only to land face-first on the ground. Gurgi shook himself off, replying:

"Wow. Gurgi hurt," said Gurgi.

Summer chuckled. Two unicorns approached the two.

"Summer, don't tell me you brought a stowaway," said the first unicorn.

Summer introduced the two unicorns to Gurgi. "Gurgi, meet my sisters." She introduced the first unicorn, "Midnight…" and the second unicorn, "and Pearl."

Pearl sighed. "Mother won't be pleased you brought this creature."

"I thought it would be good for him. Get some fresh air," said Summer.

Midnight thought for a moment. "Gurgi. Why does that name sound so familiar?"

"Oh. Gurgi won't be a nuisance. Gurgi promises to behave," said Gurgi.

Midnight told the two. "Well, come on. The meeting's about to start."

"What meeting?" asked Gurgi, confused.

Summer told him. "Just ignore Midnight. She has this temperament about her."

As Summer and Gurgi walked towards the crowd of unicorns, Midnight wandered off into the forest. At a nearby stream, Midnight caught the look of Maleficent, whose face appeared in the water.

"Gurgi's with my eldest sister. What should I do?" asked Midnight to the stream.

"Well, keep your eyes on the creature. He may lead us to Baggins," said Maleficent.

"And if he doesn't?" asked Midnight, concerned.

"Don't worry. All the pieces will fall into place. Just make sure to keep your distance. If not, then find some means to spill information from the creature," said Maleficent.

Midnight nodded. "I will do that." Maleficent's face disappeared into a ripple. Midnight drank from the water. Once she finished, Midnight returned to the other unicorns.

Pearl whispered, "Where have you been?"

"Just talking to my shadow," said Midnight. "What have I missed?"

Pearl said, "Well, word has it that some unicorns have betrayed us. I don't know who they are, but I'll bet they aren't friendly."

Midnight said, intimidated, "Really?"

Pearl nodded. "That's why we need to keep our wits about us."

Midnight asked, "How's the creature holding up?"

"Gurgi? Oh, he's all right. I think Summer's keeping a good eye on him," said Pearl.

"Really?" asked Midnight, unconvinced.

CHAPTER 8 – ANIMAL HEADQUARTERS

Melissa watched from the diner at the two hobbits, realizing the tween had to be her daughter.

"Why don't you go talk to her?" asked Nash, murmuring to Melissa.

"It's been years. I don't think she'll recognize me," said Melissa.

"Of course not, if you don't talk to her," said Nash.

Melissa said, "Look, we've got a meeting to go to. Let's not bother talking to Frodo."

"Why?" asked Nash. "Is this about Frodo and how much you don't trust him?"

Melissa stopped in her tracks. "I – look, it's not that I'm not very fond of Frodo, but he could go easy on her. I mean, look at the way he looks at her." She noticed Frodo and Malinda talking to Tony Stark. "I can't afford to be seen by them."

Nash grabbed her arm. "Melissa, if you truly care about your daughter, you would at least talk to her. It's rude that you're not."

Melissa looked once, before saying, "Come on. Let's go." She walked out of the diner. Nash followed her reluctantly.

CHAPTER 12 – HALLS OF NATURE/CORDIAL JUICE ALTERNATE TAKE

Malinda thought to herself, "Jump off a cliff to save him." She said, "I think I have an idea, but it may not work. Looks like I'll be taking a stroll with him." She was stunned to see Frodo return to the room.

However, Frodo took the cordial from her hand. "This belongs to me." He left the room, with Malinda following him. "Don't you have anything better to do?"

"Frodo, that is not a healing juice," said Malinda.

"So what if it isn't? It's helped me heal my internal wounds," said Frodo.

"I rather doubt that. How does one person heal internal wounds? Those wounds make us who we are, who we've become…"

Frodo stopped her in her tracks. "Look, you may have been good help to me in the past, but this is something you cannot help me with. Now if you'll excuse me, I have more important work to do."

Malinda watched him walk away. She said to herself, "Now you sound like me."

o-o-o

Frodo returned to his room a few hours later. The juice inside the cordial was wearing off. He could feel his old pain returning, the internal wounds not healed. Desperate, Frodo drank the juice from the cordial some more. It worked, but it made him forget Malinda, who he really cared about. Instead, he thought of Malinda as nothing more than a nuisance, someone who didn't understand his condition. Whatever would happen now, he had to make sure he drank the juice. But how long would this last?

o-o-o

Merry did manage to track down Frodo. In a hurry, Merry led Frodo inside the suite he was staying, where Sam, Pippin, and Malinda were present. Frodo was convinced he had been abducted, but right away didn't like where the situation was headed before it ever started.

"Why did you bring me here? I need to get back to work," said Frodo, scornful.

Merry turned Frodo around. "Frodo, Malinda told us what you've been doing."

"A benevolent little twit she is," said Frodo.

"She told us you were drinking juice from the cordial she gave you years ago on her birthday," said Pippin.

"And it's been helping me. I'm better than ever," said Frodo.

"You're not, Mr. Frodo. Look at the way you're treating us now, the way you've been treating Malinda," said Sam.

"The juice has changed you, Frodo. We've noticed. We're your friends," said Merry.

Some sense knocked back into Frodo. He said, "What would you have me do?"

"Get rid of the cordial, before you become worse," said Pippin.

Shaking off the sense, Frodo said, determined to get out of the room, "I don't understand why you brought me here, Merry." He told the four hobbits, "The last thing I expected was to be lectured to by hobbits who used to be my friends. I can't say the same for Malinda, since all I remember of her is how annoying she is."

"Right. So you'll stop taking the juice?" asked Pippin, growing concerned.

"Look, I didn't ask to be here," said Frodo.

"It's all the more reason to stop taking the juice in the cordial. It's making you sour," said Merry.

"And what makes you think I'm going to stop taking it?" asked Frodo. He had them now. "As much as you would ask me to be here, I didn't need to come here for a lecture nor did I expect one. The cordial juice has made me feel better all the time. The internal wounds are healed because of it." He looked at Malinda once with sharp eyes. "This is a waste of time." He left the room with Merry calling out to him.

"We tried Papa, but we can't reason with him," said Malinda.

"That is, until he runs out of juice," said Sam.

"We'll try again tomorrow," said Merry.

"We're giving up? Come on, Papa. We can't give up on him now," said Malinda.

"He's gone beyond reason, Malinda. It would take a miracle to get through to him," said Merry.

"You're all heroes. I would have expected better than this," said Malinda.

"Malinda," said Merry, stunned by this.

"Look, even if we could get through to Frodo, we'd have to talk to him and he doesn't want to be reasoned with," said Pippin.

"We tried. That's all we can admit," said Sam.

Malinda looked determined. "Well, someone has to try, even if I have to do this myself."

"Malinda, wait! Oh," said Merry, watching helplessly as Malinda left the room.

"She's mad," said Pippin.

"But her heart is pure," said Merry. "Let's hope it stays that way."

CHAPTER 13 – THE HALLS OF NATURE/LAST MEETING

In the hours that passed, before the dawning of the next year, a meeting of heroes was held in a chamber in the Halls of Nature. In all the years Malinda spent there, she had never seen a meeting so important such as this. This was to be their final meeting, to determine what would happen and where everyone would go. Frodo spoke in turn during this meeting, yet he looked especially wary of Malinda, when it was her turn to speak. The plan was clear by everyone: get Malinda to safety in a world that wouldn't know what was happening elsewhere in the universe. Melissa did not like where the plan was headed.

"You all must be joking? We're sending a lone girl out to a world that's full of cruelty and egotistical behavior's abound," said Melissa.

"It should fit in to how you behave," said Frodo.

"But this world we're sending Malinda to is much worse than me," admitted Melissa. "Besides, I've outgrown my egotistic behavior."

"Why can't we send someone else to perform the task? Any one of us would be capable of traveling to this world and still stay sane," said Nash.

"And tell those people who we are? They wouldn't believe us, if we did," said the Frost Guardian.

"Ilsa," said Father Time. "Even if one of us did go, it would be drastic. No, someone with a fair heart and a keeper of childish qualities may find sanity in that world, able to adapt without cause." He turned to Malinda now. "I only hope you're prepared for the trials that world will bring."

"You don't have to go through with this, Malinda," said Merry.

"Wouldn't it be better if Master Frodo and I do this? Think of all the lives we would save," said Sam.

"Sam, if this were our task, we wouldn't last. No, it has to be someone who hasn't seen much danger," said Frodo. "Someone who is still new to the idea of heroics."

"Me," said Malinda, stunned.

"But she doesn't have to do this," said Melissa.

"After some thinking, I have to agree with Malinda. She's our only chance," said Frodo.

Malinda pulled out a vial. "I'll be taking this to whip my memory, before I leave."

"What did I ever do to make you do this? I'm going to lose you again," said Melissa, shocked.

"Maybe in another life, I'll be kind to you," said Malinda.

"That settles it then," said Pippin.

CHAPTER 13 – HALLS OF NATURE/ALIEN SHIP EXTENDED END SEQUENCE

Frodo embraced Malinda and kissed her on the lips. Once he released Malinda, Frodo backed away. Malinda looked at the vial and uncorked it. The last she did was drink the liquid in the vial. As she did, her mind felt erased of everything, including what she wanted to make sure not to tell the villains. So far, the plan worked but with a steep price.

Frodo watched Malinda as she, no longer knowing who he was, looked at him with a nervous expression. She then charged towards the strange ship and fled inside. The ship then flew off out of the landing pad. Frodo watched the ship until it was gone from the sky. He took a long walk back out of the Caves. When he came to the Halls of Nature, Frodo was greeted by his friends. They wanted to know everything that happened in the Caves. Melissa was the least surprised.

"Frodo, do you think Malinda's all right?" asked Pippin.

"I have a feeling she will be," said Frodo.

"What do we do now?" asked Sam.

Frodo sighed. "I don't know, Sam. Continue to keep the villains at bay; also, try to find a way to contact Malinda."

"Is she going by the name Malinda, once she's arrived on Earth?" asked Merry.

"She told me she wasn't. Looks like we'll have to find out that name for ourselves," said Frodo.

"I only hope we're not too late," said Sam, concerned.

o-o-o

Malinda, having forgotten who she was, was brought on board a strange alien vessel. There, she was dragged by the strange alien creatures to a workbench, where they strapped Malinda down. Malinda asked the aliens what was going on, but they wouldn't answer. Then they stuck Malinda several times, making her scream her full head off. The aliens eventually found a way to knock her unconscious until they were done with her.

With their task finished, the alien creatures dragged Malinda inside a cargo hold, where they threw her inside. They locked the door soon afterwards. Malinda awoke, confused and baffled by the situation. She didn't know who she was, let alone her own name. As she came to, Malinda was stunned by a three-foot blue alien with four arms and talons along his back. The blue alien sniffed her, before he spoke.

"My name is Stitch. Who are you?" addressed the blue alien.

"I don't know," said Malinda, truthful. "Do you know a way out of here?"

Stitch thought for a moment. Then he declared. "This way."

Stitch then kicked a vent, opening it up to reveal a long tunnel. Malinda followed the blue alien through the trek of vents. One room caught Malinda's attention. Opening the vent, Malinda jumped down and landed on her feet. Stitch followed. Inside the room were several force-field portals. Malinda stared at each one until she saw a world that caught her interest. Stitch recognized the world immediately, and clapped his hands.

"Stitch been to Earth before," said Stitch.

"Is it friendly?" asked Malinda.

"You wait and see what you think," said Stitch.

"I'm going there. Cover for me," said Malinda.

Stitch saluted. "Right away." Then he scampered off towards the open doorway.

Malinda pressed the red button by the force-field door, leading to the planet Earth. Just as she did this, a rippling wind surged in the air. Malinda felt the wind as it picked her up and carried her out of the room, right into the force field.

Malinda called to Stitch last, "You be good, Stitch!"

"I will. Stitch always willing to help a friend," said Stitch.

Stitch watched Malinda as she flew into the force field, plummeting her way towards the planet. By the time the taller aliens came, they looked for Malinda but found she was already gone. They looked at Stitch once, before deciding the hobbit tween was of no concern of theirs any longer. Then they walked away. Stitch looked at the force field with growing interest.

"Stitch has good friends," said Stitch.
