Time seemed to have slowed down once I jumped out the window. I watched as the ground came closer to me and I absorbed the impact of the landing on the balls of my feet. I pause and look down at my feet. Of course Alice would put me in stilettos. I growl in annoyance and fling the death traps off my feet. I didn't need shoes on while I hunted, especially in heels.

It's weird. Wearing shoes now felt unnatural. Everything felt completely different. I glance done at the outfit that someone put on me. Probably Alice.

I had glanced at it briefly in the mirror but didn't really pay close attention to it. Now I was highly aware of what was on me. Of course Alice would put me in a dress. The dress was green that ended right above my knees. It hugged my figure but fanned out a little past my hips. Well at least she didn't put me in a ballgown.

I felt my hair flow in the wind just as a soft thud landed beside me. Alex gave me a breathtaking smile. I cracked a smile.

"Right. Easy peasy," I tease him.

He smiles at me. "That was quite graceful, Sophie. Even for a vampire." I smiled at his comment.

"Well, at least I'm finally graceful."

"You were completely clumsy," he says. I narrow my eyes at him as I place my hands on my hips.

"Hey. I was not clumsy. Gravity just hated me." Alex starts laughing.

"It's good to know that you haven't changed." I smile in appreciation before I glance at the heels that I threw off my feet. I softly grab them in my hand before throwing them back into the open window.

I heard someone catch the heels before Alice started grumbling. "Her fashion sense has not improved as much as her balance has. She's just like Bella."

I felt Alex take my hand and gives it a squeeze before letting go. It was going to take some getting use to that we were the same temperature now. "Come on. Let's go." I nodded and darted into the woods after him.

I look around me as I'm running. Everything was so much clearer. I could see every particle in the air and the tiny veins on leaves. We soon stop at the edge of a cliff. I look down at the river below us. The water had to be at least 50 feet away.

"What are we going to do?"

Alex chuckles beside me. "We're going to jump of course." I purse my lips and stared down.

The water stretched far and wide. I saw a place where we could land but that had to be at least 50 yards.

"Can't we just swim?" I ask.

"And ruin that pretty dress? No. We can jump."

I purse my lips. Guess I have to get use to this.

"After you," I tell him. He touches my cheek before taking a couple of steps back. He then runs forward and launches himself off of the rock and down the cliff.

I watch in amazement as he leaps effortlessly and lightly lands on his feet on the other side of the river. Alex then spins and smiles at me. He tilts his head as if to say "come on."

I breathe and take five steps back. Well, here goes nothing.

My bare feet race towards the edge before I leapt into the air. The feeling of falling didn't make me scared or anxious like it used to. Probably because I couldn't die from falling anymore. The feeling of the wind rushing through my hair was amazing. My focus stayed on a spot right next to Alex.

The fifty foot drop and fifty foot-wide radius lasted an entire second before I was standing next to the blond vampire.

Peals of laughter escaped from my lips. The sensation was other-worldly. I wanted to go again.

"How was that?" I asked him.

"Very good. You are a natural at this Sophie Cullen."

"Doesn't hurt that I've had years observing my family," I hum back. I glance behind me at the cliff. "Can I go again?"

"Sophie, focus. There's plenty of time for that later. We need to hunt."

Oh. Right. Hunting. I can't get distracted. The faster I hunt the faster I can see my children. I nod in understanding.

"Follow me...if you can," he says with a grin before he broke into a run.

I stare at the place he just stood in astonishment. He was fast. A small grin appears on my face just before I dart after him.

He was faster than me, of course. He's had centuries of experience from being a vampire. I still couldn't grasp that I was dating a man who was over 200 hundred years old. I even had two kids with the man. Well, as they say, age is but a number.

He moved his legs with blinding speed, but I was stronger and I was soon right behind him. We flew through the forest together and I started laughing at the excitement of everything. I now understood why my family never hit any trees. It felt that everything was in slow motion, yet we were running at an enormous and blinding speed.

I could plainly see every leaf as I flew by. I could see the veins on them and the dew that clung to it. I could clearly see a spider's web being made five feet away from me. I could see every single detail in each strand.

The wind felt warm against my skin, even though it shouldn't. The rough forest floor felt like velvet against my bare feet. Nothing hurt. If I were still human, then there would be so many cuts and scratches on them. However, I now had rock hard skin and nothing was leaving a mark on my new skin.

The forest was practically alive as we continued to run. I finally felt free.

"Sophie, we're going to stop just ahead," says Alex. I follow him as he turns a corner and stop once we were in a small opening in the forest. I slow down and skip to his side. I stop and continue to marvel at everything around me.

"This is amazing. So this is what everyone's been seeing this whole time? I've really been missing out." Alex chuckles beside me.

"Amazing isn't it? Come on. Time to hunt."

Right. I turn to him. "What are we hunting?"

"Deer and Elk. Something easy to start out." I narrow my eyes at the word easy. I chose not to mention it because I was so thirsty. He was just trying to look after me.

Alex positions himself in front of me and lightly grasps my shoulders. "Close you're eyes." I closed my eyes. "Now, listen. What do you hear? Focus."

I listed to my surroundings. I could hear everything. The whoosh of the wind; to the chirping of baby birds; the swaying of the trees in the wind; the light clicking of ants against tree bark. I could hear all of it. It was as if I suddenly had sonar built inside me. I strained my ears outward, seeking a different kind of sound.

There blending with the flow of water was lapping tongues. I could hear their loud thumping hearts and could practically feel the blood running through their veins.

"By the creek. To the northeast. Is it three?" I could practically see Alex's smile even with my eyes closed.

"Yes. Now, breathe." I obey and breathe in the air.

Even from this far away, the animals scent flooded my senses. I inhaled the clean smell of water before being overcome by a musky scent. It was warm and rich but it smelled very unappealing. I wrinkled my nose in almost disgust.

Alex chuckled. "I know. It gets some getting used to. Now, don't think about it. Go with the wind and follow you're instincts."

I breath in again before heading in the direction of the deer. I ghost down the incline to the narrow clearing that holds my first meal. I slide behind a tree and tilt my head to glance at the creatures. I almost feel guilty that I'm about to eat Bambi. Almost. My thirst was making it difficult for me to feel guilty. I was so hungry.

I shift my body into crouch and tensed myself for my first leap. That's when the wind shifted. My whole body stills as I breathe in this new scent. I haven't smelled anything this sweet before. My whole mind-set of eating the deer blows away with the wind. I breathe in the new scent again before darting in its direction.

I heard Alex curse under his breath. "Sophie! Stop!"

I payed him no mind as I kept running. My thirst had now gotten worse. It was so painful that it now consumed all of my thoughts. The only thing that could quench it was the sweet scent that I was going after.

I was aware that I was being followed which caused my legs to go faster. I curled my teeth back and growled in warning. I come to a stop at the bottom of a mountain. I don't know how far I've ran, nor do I care. I glance up at the climber above me and watch in hunger as ruby blood drips from their scrapped knee.

I needed the blood; I wanted their blood. I hear the person gaining on me before my defense kicked in. I dart quickly up the cliff and stop on a ledge near the mountain climber but far enough that they can't see me. I let my pursuer catch up to me before I spin around and punch them away from me. I let out a feral growl in warning.

I knew who this person was but my instincts where getting the better of me. Alex raised his arms in surrender.

"Sophie, love. You need to stop. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that someone was out here. Sophie, I know it's tempting but I need to get you out of here. We need to feed on something else."

I bend my legs in defense and growl at him again. I didn't want to feed on something else. "Sophie." Alex takes a couple of steps towards me to take me away. I growl in warning for him to back off. He doesn't which causes my defense to kick in.

His hand is inches from my arm when an earth shattering growl escapes my lips. I feel a warmth that forms in my chest. It soon travels down into my arms and hands. It's as if a warm blanket has wrapped around me. I felt a comfort from it before it releases out of my body.

I had this power when I was human; but this one was powerful. More powerful now since I was no longer human. Alex flies away from me and is thrown off the cliff. I hear the impact of him hitting a tree before the tree snaps and collapses onto the forest floor.

It's then quiet. It was odd. Before, I would become exhausted after releasing the energy. I wasn't tired now. I felt energized and strong. Another reason why I was happy to no longer being human.

I start to turn back to my target when realization hits me. I just threw Alex off the cliff, and the tree probably fell down on top of him. Dread comes over me. I probably just hurt the love of my life. If I could cry then I would, but no tears would ever fall down my cheeks again.

My thirst and prey leave my mind as I run in the direction of Alex. I peer down and see him getting up and groaning. I hurt him. My dead heart drops.

I zip down and stand before him. He jumps and stares at me. I take in his appearance and the tree that is beyond recognition.

I'm afraid to look at Alex. Afraid that he would be afraid of me. Instead I see love and understanding.

"I...I need you to get me out of here. Please." He nods and grabs my hand before leading me away from the mountain.

I run with him and we stop not too far away from the creek. The deer were still there. Unaware that they were in danger once more.

Alex places his hands on my shoulders.

"I'm...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," I tell him. I run my hands over him to make sure that I haven't caused him any damage. He looks fine except for his clothes. A couple of buttons were missing from his shirt and there was a tear on the side of it. His pants have holes in them as well.

He shakes his head. "Don't be. I'm ok. It's only natural that you would react that way. It's in our nature."

"But, I hurt you. Look at you're clothes." Alex laughs at my comment.

"Why don't you look at you're clothes." I glance down and notice that the skirt of my dress has multiple tears in it. There was even a hole in the side of my dress. Alice was going to be pissed.

"Oops," I say.

"Soph. I'm ok."

"But, I hurt you. I growled at you and threw you off that cliff without touching you."

"Love, it's only natural. The growl I get, its the fact that you threw me off the cliff without touching me that surprised me. It seems that you're power has enhanced. We'll need to speak with Eleazer when we get back. Maybe he will know what exactly this power is now that you're a vampire."

That's right. We knew I had a power but Eleazer was having a hard time pin pointing on what it was. He could feel that I had a gift but he couldn't quite place it.

Alex sighs. "Don't worry. I'm actually really impressed. You were able to get out of the vicinity."

"With you're help. After I had that outburst," I interject.

"Still. It's impressive Sophie. Normally, you would have gone after the human after you threw me off the cliff. But you didn't. You came straight to me. That shows that you have a lot of restraint."

I didn't feel that I had a lot of restraint. I felt hopeless. Would I be able to see my children now after what I've done?

I think Alex understands what I'm thinking. "Hey. Don't overthink. You are doing fine. You're control is very impressive. It will just take some time." I nod my head. I start to relax at his words.

"Thank you. I couldn't do this without you."

Alex smiles. "Anytime. Now let's go hunting so that you can see Xander and Ellie." I perk up at their names. I wanted to see them.

I nod and breathe in the smell of the deer. I quickly and quietly run in their direction. I pause behind the tree and let my instincts take over.

I bend my legs before launching myself at them. I grab a buck by it's shoulders and knock him to the ground. I ignore the other deer that start to run away as I look at my meal before I tear my teeth into its flesh.

The creature wiggled underneath me but it was no match for my razor sharp teeth and strength. It's flesh was like butter against my teeth. I starting to drink it's blood. The flavor tasted wrong. It was almost like broccoli. I disliked broccoli but I would eat it if I had to.

The blood was warm and thick. The flavor was unpleasant but it quenched the thirst in my throat. It was as if I had been in the Sahara Desert and I was drinking water for the first time. I continued to drink as the creature's movements slowed down and then went still.

I tore myself off of it when the source ran dry. I ran off and grabbed more deer and started to drink from them. I stopped after I had four deer and an elk.

I turned and saw Alex leaning up against a tree; watching me in thought. His eyes traveled over me and smiled. I looked at the dirt on my legs and the dirt underneath my fingernails. I touched my hair and could practically feel the knots in them.

I probably was a sight for sore eyes.

"I look terrible," I tell him. Despite his torn clothes, he didn't look like a mess. His hair was perfectly in place and there wasn't a drop of blood on his clothing.

"You did fine for you're first time."

"How do you not look a mess like I do?" He smiles at me.

"Centuries of experience. Here. Watch."

I didn't realize that there was another deer not too far away from us. I watch as he smoothly leaps towards it and grabs the creature by the neck. He fluidly bites into the creature and I marvel at how effortlessly he drinks from it.

He finishes it off and stands up and smiles proudly.

"You're better at this than I am," I tell him.

Alex smiles and comes to me to place a kiss on my forehead. "Again, centuries of practice. Are you still thirsty?"

I shake my head. I wasn't full but my thirst was gone. Muted, mostly. "I'm fine. I want to go see Ellie and Xander."

Alex nods. "Ok." Alex kisses me. I bring him further into me deepen the kiss. I rake my fingers into his hair and start to kiss him intensely. I'm pinned to a tree after Alex growls.

All I care about in this moment is him. I respond more intensely right before we fall. I come back to reality.

"Oops," I say. "Sorry. I didn't mean to tackle you like that. Are you ok?"

Alex laughs. "Yes, I'm fine. I wasn't complaining." Alex stands up and helps me up. I could tell that he didn't mind the distraction. I almost wanted to extend our little hunting trip. To stay here a little longer, but we couldn't. I was getting antsy.

"Let's go and see our children," I say as I grip onto his hand. He smiles and nods in agreement.

I look at him one last time before darting in the direction of the house. On my way to see Ellie and Xander.

So really long chapter. I wanted to explore Sophie's first hunt. I'm planning on her to have restraint but not as much as Bella. I still want her to struggle a little. Next chapter is when she finds out about Paul imprinting on Ellie. What do you think will happen? Until next time!
