On another island in the Alola region, Ash and Jordan were dreaming. "You mean just go over there? Got it." said Ash, taking Jordan by the hand before looking at Pikachu and Meeko. "Let's go, you three."
"Pikachu." said Pikachu.
"Why is it so foggy?" asked Jordan.
"I can't see anything." said Meeko.
Ash and Jordan walked through the fog and up a set of stairs. "Wow." said the siblings as Pikachu and Meeko got ahead of them. Suddenly, Ash steps on a loosen step which crumbles underneath him. "Where are we?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"Pika, Pika." said Pikachu as he and Meeko went up to some stone podiums before looking up to see a wormhole appearing in the sky. Out of the wormhole, was one of Alola's legendary Pokémon, Solgaleo. Solgaleo roared as another wormhole appeared in the sky, surprising Pikachu and Meeko.
Out of the second wormhole was Solgaleo's friend, Lunala who then screeched with its wings opened wide. "Solgaleo? Lunala?" asked Ash and Jordan as both legendary Pokémon circled one another.
"We understand, Solgaleo. We promise, Lunala." the siblings said in unison, promising them something as Solgaleo growled and Lunala nodded. Then they headed back to the wormholes they had come out of, when suddenly Solgaleo and Lunala combined their energies together, creating something.
In a bright light, something was being created from the two energies. "Pika?" asked Pikachu.
"Cario?" asked Meeko. Suddenly, all four Island Guardians were alerted by something on Tapu Fini's island. In a cave, Gladion was dealing with Type Null, who was growling at him.
"No I cant." said Gladion, struggling against Type Null. "I can't let you go outside where people can see you! You've got to stay here! Please try to understand."
Type Null had finally calmed down. "That's good." said Gladion with a smile before looking away and senses something. "It can't be….Ultra beasts?"
"Briiinnng! Come on, Ash and Jordan, get up!" said Rotom, waking up the siblings. "You have to get out of bed, wash your face, eat breakfast and head off to school NOW!"
"Lycan…" said Lycanroc as it rubs its neck against Ash while Emma gently shakes Jordan.
"You need to wake up too, Pikachu and Meeko." said Rotom.
"Pika…" said Pikachu as one of his ears twitches.
"Lucar…" said Meeko, scratching her ear.
"You too, Rowlet!" Rotom said to Rowlet, who was sleeping on the banister. Rowlet wakes up for a moment before falling back asleep. "You're right. We promise, Lunala…" said Ash, turning over with Pikachu falling to the floor.
"We'll take really good…..care of it, Solgaleo." said Jordan as she and Meeko flipped to their sides, facing each other.
"They're both still talking in their sleep." said Rotom as he flies over to Ash, then comes up with plan B. "Come on! Litten, you're up next!"
"Lit!" said Litten as it jumps onto Ash and smacks his face with his tail.
"Wah! I'm awake! We're awake!" said Jordan, hearing the smacks on Ash's face.
"Pikachu did it, Mama Delia!" said Meeko, fully awake as well.
"Well, at least two out of four." said Rotom as Litten speeds up its tail.
"There's a couple other ways besides Pikachu to get him up, Rotom." said Jordan, glaring through tired bleary eyes.
Narrator: My, my. There's never a dull moment at Professor Kukui's house.
Jordan: Don't forget, there's never a dull moment when you're a Ketchum.
Meeko: Lucario.
"Morning." said Ash, his face red from Litten's tail.
"Pikachu…" grumbled Pikachu, his face red as well.
"We've got no time for that!" said Rotom as Jordan and Meeko headed down the ladder. "It's two and a half minutes past when you normally wake up! Five and a half minutes for Jordan's case."
"Litt." Litten said in agreement.
"Now get yourselves dressed!" said Rotom.
"Aw, man…..you could have found a nicer way to wake us up, you know…." said Ash.
"We tried all the nice ways first and nothing worked!" screamed Rotom. Ash starts climbing down from the loft as Jordan comes out of the bathroom in clean clothes with Meeko behind her who's fur was slightly wet.
"Morning." said Jordan.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"I can't stop thinking about the most incredible dream that I had….." said Ash. "Least I think I did."
"We promise." said Ash and Jordan in their dream.
"You were in my dream too, Ash." said Jordan, wrapping a towel around Meeko. "Only thing is…..how did we get there?"
"Good question." he said, looking up at the roof. "What did we promise? Whatever."
"Pika!" yelled Pikachu as he fell to the floor.
"Cario." said Meeko, shaking her fur out. Soon enough, everyone was eating breakfast and both siblings caught the look on Kukui's face. "Professor, what's up?" asked Ash.
"What did we do this time?" asked Jordan.
"Huh? Nothing." said Kukui. "It was just kinda nice seeing all of you going at your breakfast together with all that gusto."
"Excuse me! The news is on." said Rotom, passing by the professor with the remote in his hands. "Breakfast for this Rotom Dex first thing in the morning isn't food, but information!"
As Rotom turns on the TV, Anna was reporting on a new segment. "The Alola Woman of the year award, goes to the most accomplished woman in the region, and has just recently been given to none other than the highly intelligent and gifted Professor Burnet!" said Anna.
"Professor Burnet?!" asked Kukui.
"Do you know her, Professor?" asked Ash.
"We're fellow researchers. Yes." answered Kukui.
"Wow…." said Ash.
"She's really pretty." said Jordan, taking a sip of juice. "I wonder who does her hair."
"This is the fifteenth year that the Alola Woman of the year award has been presented." Anna continued. "Although it goes to women who work in a wide range of fields, this year marks the very first time it's been awarded to a scientist. Sources tell us that her immense talent as a researcher, combined with her likeable, approachable character, made Professor Burnet a virtual shoo-in."
"Oh my…." said Jordan as she and Meeko watch Professor Burnet and her partner Munchlax hop around in excitement.
"Peace, Peace!" said Professor Burnet.
"She looks like fun!" said Ash.
"A whole lot of fun." added Jordan.
"Don't forget, that's one hyper-active Munchlax." commented Meeko.
"Yeah, she's both an excellent researcher and one of a kind!" said Professor Kukui. "She's perfect for a place in the spotlight."
"So just what does Professor Burnet's research focus on?" asked Rotom.
"On Ultra Wormholes." Kukui replied.
"Ultra-Wormholes?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"Not now! I'll explain it to you another time." said Kukui. On the island where Ash and Jordan's dream took place, Professor Burnet and her colleagues were there. "The Altar of the Sunne. No matter how many times I see it, it's solemn presence always makes an impact." said Burnet. "Don't you think so, too? Lusamine, you hear me?"
"Of course. That's because this is the place where the horrific, massive conflict between Alola's Island Guardians and the Ultra Beasts was waged." said Lusamine, touching a carving that was shaped in Tapu Koko's likeness. "It's because of these ruins that, ever since my childhood, I was able to imagine that legendary battle my father told me about like I was seeing it now. So yes…my dream of seeing an Ultra Beast is very strong. As strong as ever."
"It's all so mysterious!" said Wicke. "What do these sun and moon sculptures mean? That question keeps haunting me every waking hour, knowing that a full explanation has yet to be discovered!"
"Professor Burnet, am I correct in assuming that you detected a rather large quantity of an Ultra Beasts Aura at this location last evening?" asked Faba.
"Yes. It was such a sudden spike, I contacted Lusamine immediately." Burnet explained.
"And yet, at the present time, the values are rather low." said Faba, curtly. "Could it be that the cause has less to do with Ultra Beasts and more to do with readouts by your own hopelessly misaligned equipment?"
"That's quite an unscientific conclusion, Faba." said Lusamine, walking up with Wicke. "I feel your conclusions have less to do with scientific principles and more to do with an overriding jealousy of a certain Professor Burnet."
Burnet laughs at Lusamine's statement. "Alright, who's up for a little research?" asked Lusamine.
"I am!" said Professor Burnet.
"The thought that I may soon see an Ultra Beast for myself makes my heart race!" said Lusamine.
"I can taste the adventure!" said Wicke as she and Burnet followed her.
"She can taste the adventure?" asked Faba, feeling put out by his boss. "Well, I can taste the agitation!" The equipment that he was holding starts picking up a reading. "Those two absolutely make my blood boil. Huh?"
He then turns around and sees the statue with Tapu Lele's carving. "Oh, well, agitated again…..and again, and again!" grumbled Faba.
Back on Melemele Island, Ash and Jordan were running to the Pokémon school. "Pika!" shouted Pikachu.
"Lucar!" said Meeko. Suddenly as shadow flew overhead of both Pokémon, causing them to look up. "Pika?" asked Pikachu, then turns to Meeko. "Pika, Pika?"
"Lucari." said Meeko, shaking her head.
Both of them turned to the forest and sees Tapu Koko. "Pika! Cario!" Pikachu and Meeko said, surprised at this.
"What's up, Pikachu?" asked Ash.
"Did you sense something, Meeko?" asked Jordan.
"Pikachu! Lucario!" they both said as they ran into the forest.
"Hey, Pikachu! Meeko!" said Ash and Jordan, running after their Pokémon.
"Where are you going?" asked Rotom, following the siblings.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu called out.
"Lucar!" said Meeko.
"Hey! Wait up!" shouted Ash and Jordan.
"Stop!" said Rotom.
"Pika. Lucar." said Pikachu and Meeko, stopping as Ash and Jordan caught up with them.
"What was that for?" asked Ash.
"You know that I have shorter legs than you, Ash." said Jordan.
"Ash! Jordan! Ash! Jordan!" said Rotom.
"Tapu Koko!" they both exclaimed and the island guardian flies straight up.
"Pika?" asked Pikachu as Meeko senses an unusual aura.
"Lucar, Lucar." said Meeko.
"Now what?" asked the siblings as they walked towards the rustling bushes, finding a small unknown sleeping Pokémon.
"Pikachu." said Pikachu, curiously.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"A Pokémon?" gasped Ash.
"A small and cute Pokémon." gasped Jordan.
"Pika, Pikachu." said Pikachu, getting a closer look with Meeko. Pikachu rubs his nose against the small unknown Pokémon's body, tickling it and causes it to giggle. "It's still asleep." said Ash.
"Pika." said Pikachu.
"Such a cute little thing." said Jordan.
"I thought I was cute." said Meeko.
"That's because you are, Meeko." said Jordan. The unknown Pokémon stayed asleep as Ash picks it up. "It's so light. We promised." said Ash as Jordan rubs the Pokémon's head when they suddenly realized something.
"We promised!" they both yelled as the unknown Pokémon's face changed but remained asleep.
"I'm starting to remember now." said Ash. "We promised that we'd find you."
"Yeah!" said Jordan.
"You both made a promise?" asked Rotom. "When? Where? Who did you make it with?"
"It was last night when Jordan and I had a dream….with somebody." said Ash.
"We were on a different Island at this huge altar when we made that promise." Jordan explained. "Pikachu and Meeko were standing in front of us…."
"Illogical! Illogical! Illogical!" said Rotom as the Pokémon in Ash's hands mumbled.
"It must be having a dream." said Ash, laughing.
"I bet its having the best dream in the world." said Jordan.
"I wonder what kind of Pokémon it is…." said Ash.
"You just leave the data research to me!" said Rotom as he searched the data base and came up with nothing. "Now, that's unusual! My research doesn't contain any Pokémon data for it at all!"
"I can't even tell if it's a boy or a girl." said Jordan, taking a closer look at the Pokémon.
"Alola!" said Kukui as he arrived to his classroom.
"Alola!" said the others, minus Ash and Jordan.
"Where could Ash and Jordan be?" he asked, seeing their empty desks.
"They havent gotten here yet." said Mallow.
"Isn't that odd?" asked Kukui. "They both left the house a while before I did…"
"Sidetracked maybe?" asked Kiawe.
"When it comes to Ash and Jordan, anything's possible." said Lillie.
"I'll guess he and Jordan are each trying to catch a Pokémon somewhere." said Sophocles.
"I can see it now!" said Lana. "Ash and Jordan are walking along, when suddenly out jumps a Groudon…"
"No way!" shouted Kiawe, Sophocles, Mallow and Lillie.
"Meh!" said Lana, sticking out her tongue in a joking manner when they suddenly heard two sets of running footsteps.
"Hmm?" they asked.
"Professor Kukui!" shouted the brother and sister as they ran into the classroom.
"We've discovered a Pokémon not in my database!" shouted Rotom.
"It was the one we saw in our dream last night!" said Ash and Jordan.
"We both dreamed that we made a promise to somebody that we'd find it and take care of it, and then, and then, and then….Why do people forget their dreams?" said Ash. Kukui then turns to Jordan with a look on his face that said, 'explain further'.
"He does have an issue with remembering his dreams at times." said Jordan. "However, I do know that in the dream we had, Ash and I made a promise to a couple of huge Pokémon that we'd find this little floating Pokémon and take really good care of it until the time was right. But then, but then, but then….Dang it, who were the Pokémon we made the promise to again?"
"All right, calm down a bit, both of you and tell me more about this Pokémon." said Kukui, patting their backs. "Where is it now?"
"His backpack." said Jordan, pointing to her brother.
"Cario." said Meeko.
"Wow….she ratted him out and fast too." said Kiawe.
"That's quicker than my little sisters are." said Lana.
"Quicker than your little sisters and Mimo combined." added Kiawe.
"It's here in my bag." said Ash, taking his backpack off and shows Kukui the Pokémon sleeping next to Rowlet. Everyone gathered around Ash and Jordan, taking a closer look at the unknown Pokémon in Ash's backpack when it suddenly floats upward. "It floats." said Ash.
"It wasn't floating when we picked it up." said Jordan.
"Pika. Cario." said Pikachu and Meeko.
"But it's still asleep." said Rotom.
"Pika! Lucar!" said Pikachu and Meeko.
"Popplio!"
"Toge!"
"Vul!"
"Steenee!"
"Maro!"
"What a cutie!" said Mallow, standing next to Lana who nodded.
"It doesn't appear at all in this book." said Lillie with a book in her arms. "What a mystery."
"Do you have any clues, Principle Oak?" asked Kukui.
"Well, it's one I've never come across before." said Principle Oak. "But it gives me such a Sigi-lift!"
"We could be looking at a brand-new kind Pokémon." said Sophocles.
"And if it's true, that would make Ash and Jordan the ones who made the discovery." said Kiawe.
"Really, we did?!" asked Ash and Jordan, looking at each other.
"I say we do everything we can to investigate this new Pokémon." said Kukui.
"Man, you can sleep through just about anything." said Ash.
"Which is more than I can say about you, Ash." said Jordan when the new Pokémon giggled at their voices.
"It's giggling! How cute is that?" asked Lana.
"Just like a little baby." said Mallow.
"Nebula….Nebby." said Lillie, playing around with a name.
"What was that?" Ash asked her.
"It seems to have stars glittering inside it." Lillie explained. "And see how it floats like a cloud? Well since a nebula is a cloud of gas with stars inside…..why don't we name it Nebby?"
"It's like a miniature nebula." said Ash. "Great name! Yeah, let's call it, Nebby."
"That name's not bad." said Kiawe.
"I like it! It's a great name." said Jordan.
"Well, I like the name Purple Sweet Cotton Candy better, but Nebby will do." said Sophocles.
"Nebby really is a fantastic name!" said Mallow.
"Yeah. A perfect match!" said Lana.
"Then its decided." said Kukui as Principle Oak nodded.
"Little Nebby." said Lillie, laughing. Just then, Nebby opened its eyes, startled and starts crying. "Like a thousand painful Supersonics." screamed Rotom.
"Meeko wasn't like this when she hatched." screamed Jordan, with her hands over her ears.
"That's because I didn't scream when I hatched!" said Meeko with her hands on her ears.
"Don't cry, Nebby. Such a big Pokémon! Don't cry." said Ash, trying to console the little Pokémon. "Don't cry! Don't cry! You try, Jordan."
"Why me?" asked Jordan as Ash hands Nebby off to her.
"Because you're my baby sister and you love me a whole bunch. You know that you have a good singing voice." said Ash as Jordan rocks Nebby back and forth.
"Ash Ketchum, I swear that if you don't get Nebby, I'm going to chase you all over Melemele Island!" Jordan said through gritted teeth. "Besides, I already made it my job to sing it to sleep at night."
"Fine." sighed Ash, taking Nebby out of her arms and hands it to Kiawe. "You deal with this! Thanks. Bye!"
Kiawe's jaw drops as Nebby sniffles and cries again. "I don't know what to do!" said Kiawe as tears shot out of Nebby. "Don't you cry! Nebby….When I sang this to Mimo….she stopped crying every time….I can't take it anymore. Mallow, please help me out….Take it!"
"Let's see….." said Mallow, taking Nebby from Kiawe. "There, Nebby, Nebby, Nebby…no need to cry! We're all friends!" Suddenly Nebby calms down in her arms.
"Pika? Pop? Lucar? Vul? Growl? Ma? Maro?" asked the Pokémon when Steenee jumps onto the desk.
"Steenee!" she said and starts spinning on the desk, releasing Sweet Scent. Rowlet smells Sweet Scent and heads straight for Steenee, who then uses Double Slap, knocking it outside of the classroom. Nebby curiously looks out the window, looking for Rowlet when it comes flying back to the classroom, causing it to giggle.
"Look at it laughing and crying. Just like a baby!" said Ash.
"Now that we've gotten Nebby in a good mood, how about we find out what it likes to eat." suggested Kukui.
"Good idea." said Jordan as Nebby squeals happily.
"We can't expect to be able to take care of Nebby until we know that!" said Kukui.
"Yeah!" said the kids. Out on the desk, six bowls of Pokémon food were laid out for Nebby to taste test. "Nebby? So do any of these look yummy to you?" asked Ash as Nebby looks at the food and dismisses them.
"How about this?" asked Lillie. "It's soft and has a mild flavor, and nutritionally speaking, it should perfectly suit a little Pokémon's growing needs."
"Sounds good. How's this?" asked Ash, holding a piece of Pokémon food up. Nebby then scornfully turns away from his hand.
"Aw, how do you know if you don't actually try them, Nebby?" asked Jordan, taking a piece from each bowl and hold one up to Nebby. "Can you try each one just for me? If you don't like it, you don't have to eat it." Nebby babbles for a moment, thinking and then actually takes a bite from each piece of Pokémon food that Jordan held up, making disgusted faces after trying them. "How did you…?" asked Ash, then knew what his sister was going to say.
"Mom." they both said in unison.
"You know how mom is. She wouldn't let me leave the table unless I finished my plate or at least try something new that she made." said Jordan.
"Every time." said Ash, smiling at his sister. Everyone in the classroom tries to give Nebby something to eat, only letting Jordan to hold up a small piece from each plate before it shakes its head in disgust. Nebby even declined the Moomoo Milk from Kiawe and Jordan couldn't even get it to at least try it.
"Hey, maybe you might like this. Star Candy!" said Sophocles, pulling out a bag from his pocket. Nebby heads towards him, surprised and excited to try it.
"Maybe this will work." said Sophocles.
"Let me see….try this." said Ash with a piece of Star candy in his hand.
Nebby looks at the piece of candy in Ash's hand and starts eating it. "It likes it." said Rotom as Nebby squeals out in delight.
"Since Star Candy is shape like stars, it fits Nebby to a T. What a big relief!" said Lillie and Jordan nodded.
"I'm so glad we finally found something it likes to eat, cute Mantyke!" said Principle Oak.
"We're going to need to stock up on it back at our place." Kukui said to Ash and Jordan.
"I'll show you both a supermarket that has tons of star candy." said Sophocles.
"Thanks a lot." said Ash.
"And we're gonna have to hide it from me." said Jordan. "We all know that I get hyper when I eat too much candy."
"Which would involve a water gun cool down." said Ash.
"Her water gun has a lot of uses." mentioned Rotom.
"But you gotta admit, Rotom, it's really effective when it needs to be." said Jordan.
"That's true." he said.
"Lusamine, we have a reading on an Ultra Beast Aura." said Professor Burnet. On the screen in her office, Lusamine scans for the Aura, which leads her and Burnet to Melemele Island. "On Melemele?" asked Burnet.
"It's been so long since I've been on Melemele Island." said Lusamine as she and the others climbed into the helicopter.
"It's only reading slightly above normal….but it's worth a look." said Burnet.
"I can taste the adventure again." said Wicke.
"Oh, good grief…." said Faba as they headed for Melemele Island.
"Thanks, Sophocles!" said Ash as they dropped their classmate at his house.
"No problem. See you tomorrow." he said.
"Maru!" said Togedemaru.
"Pika! Cario! Vul!" said Meeko, Snowy and Pikachu.
"See you!" said Ash and Jordan.
"Until later!" said Lillie as the driver takes off towards Kukui's house.
"Bye-bye, guys." said Sophocles.
"See you at the Pokémon school!" said Rotom.
"Hmm?" said Ash as he and Jordan see a helicopter in front of the house. "What's that?"
"Not Professor Oak, right?" asked Jordan as the driver pulls up and Kukui stands outside, waiting for them.
"He wouldn't know how to pilot a helicopter." said Ash.
"Oh yeah. Good point, Ash." said Jordan.
"Welcome home." said Kukui as Ash and Jordan stepped out of the car.
"Hey Professor." said Ash and Jordan.
"Pika! Lucar!" said Pikachu and Meeko.
"So Ash, Jordan…." Kukui said, looking over his shoulder. "we have some guests who say they want to see the two of you."
"Huh?" they both asked.
"That's you, Jordan, Nebby….and you too, Lillie." said Kukui.
"Why would they want to see me?" she asked and they all headed inside. "Mother!"
"Lillie!" Lusamine exclaimed, opening her arms for a hug.
"Pika? Lucari?" asked Pikachu and Meeko.
"Mother?" asked Ash and Jordan. "You mean….you're Lillie's mom?"
"Yes! My Lillie! How's my baby?" said Lusamine.
"I'm not a baby." said Lillie.
"Dear…" said Lusamine and goes to hug Lillie, who steps away from her mother. "Are you good to Hobbes?"
"I wish you'd please stop embarrassing me." Lillie tells her.
"See now that's my cute little girl." said Lusamine. "Don't forget, you'll always be my sweet little baby."
"I wasn't born yesterday!" said Lillie.
"Vul!" said Snowy in agreement.
"Lillie! Is that a…." Lusamine said, seeing Snowy in Lillie's arms. "you're able to touch Pokémon now, aren't you?! Good baby! Good baby!"
"Suddenly….I'm scared that mom might do this to me at some point." Jordan whispered to her brother.
"You're not the only one who's scared about that." he whispered back as Lusamine ruffled Lillie's hair. "I'm scared that mom would hug you so hard, Kadabra would have to separate the both of you."
"He might have to if she does." said Jordan.
"What part of 'stop embarrassing me' don't you get?" asked Lillie.
"Lillie raised Snowy from an egg. Very impressive." said Rotom.
"From an egg?" asked Lusamine, backing away from Lillie. "My baby raised a hatchling?"
"I keep telling you, I'm not a baby!" said Lillie, fixing her hair. "Honestly! You're always putting your own feelings first…never once thinking about how I might feel!"
"That was never my intention…." said Lusamine.
"Just like with Clefairy!" said Lillie.
"Clefairy?" asked a shocked Lusamine.
"Remember when you made Clefairy evolve into Clefable when I wasn't even there? Using a moon stone?" Lillie asked her mother.
"Uh….may-be." Lusamine said, looking away from her daughter for a moment.
"I wanted to keep Clefairy as a Clefairy, but you refused to listen to me!" shouted Lillie.
"Still….I was the one training Clefairy!" said Lusamine. "And the entire reason you wanted to keep it as Clefairy was because…."
"It was cute that way!" shouted the mother and daughter.
"and it didn't make sense." Lusamine finally said.
"That was the result of a decision based on a perfectly logical thought process." argued Lillie.
"Lillie's a lot more energetic when her mother's around, don't you think so?" asked Ash.
"No doubt." said Kukui, removing his hat for a second.
"And the similarities, like their hair….." said Rotom.
"Okay, that's it. Its official now." said Jordan, bringing Meeko close to her before trying to sneak away to the loft. "I'm going call mom tonight. I'm gonna ask if she could find any of my stones and evolve some of my Pokémon for me."
"Yeah….that's a good idea." said Meeko in agreement.
"But for now….let's go hide, Meeko." said Jordan and they quickly take off for the loft.
"They're both no-nonsense." said Burnet.
"Professor Burnet?!" said Rotom.
"You've changed form to a Pokedex." said Burnet. "I'm honored you know my name."
"I saw her on the morning news!" said Rotom.
"Let me introduce you all." said Kukui. "This is Professor Burnet. Aether Foundation Researcher. And president of the Aether foundation is Lusamine, Lillie's mother."
"It's nice to meet you." said Lusamine, then looks over her shoulder. "Now please meet my team. Without them, the foundation couldn't do its work. Wicke and Faba."
"Alola, kids! My name's Wicke and I'm vice-chief for the Aether foundation. It's a pleasure to meet you." said Wicke.
"My name's Faba, and I serve as the Aether Foundation's branch chief." said Faba.
"This may be rushed, but please introduce us Nebby! Would you mind?" asked Lusamine.
"Huh?" said Ash and Lillie. Just then, Burnet looks around to see that a certain young girl and her Pokémon were missing from the room. "Uh, hold on….someone's missing?" she asked.
"Let me guess…..Jordan and Meeko?" said Ash, tapping his foot.
"Pika." said Pikachu, sighing.
"I'm not coming out and you can't make me, Ash!" said Jordan's voice from the loft.
"That's right!" Meeko called out.
"She's quick." said Lusamine.
"She's sneaky." said Wicke.
"I think your sister and her Pokémon are one of a kind." said Burnet, smiling from ear to ear.
"Would you please come back, Jordan?" asked Lillie.
"Even for a snack, sis?" asked Ash.
"Pika, Pika?" asked Pikachu.
"Oh, yeah?" Meeko asked, peering over the ladder at the boy. "What kind of snack are you getting us, Ash?"
"You heard Meeko. What kind of snack?" asked Jordan, following suit.
"I'm not telling the two of you." he tells them.
"Tell us, Asher." said Jordan.
"Now, please." said Meeko.
"Pika, Pikachu." said Pikachu.
"Pikachu, you wouldn't dare." Meeko said, pointing at Pikachu.
"Fine, we're coming down." said Jordan, climbing down the ladder with Meeko hanging onto her shoulders.
"You electric traitor." muttered Meeko as she goes over to Lillie and Jordan walks over to Ash.
"Can Professor Burnet prepare my snack?" Jordan asked Kukui, as Meeko raised an eyebrow. Down in the basement, everyone gathered around Ash and Jordan as Nebby was in Ash's arms. "Oh precious….." said Lusamine, causing Nebby to giggle.
"As I thought. It seems to be an Ultra beast." said Burnet.
"An Ultra Beast?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"Please, look at this." said Burnet, typing away at Kukui's computer.
"It's Tapu Koko!" said Ash.
"And Tapu Lele!" said Jordan.
"A long, long time ago, some very odd creatures from another world appeared, and challenged the Island Guardians to a wide-ranging, terrible battle." said Burnet. "Have either of you heard that legend before?"
"I've read everything about it in one of my books!" said Lillie. "And if I remember correctly, those odd creatures from another world are called Ultra Beasts."
"So my little baby's really studying!" squealed Lusamine. "I'm so happy that I enrolled you in Pokémon school."
"You didn't enroll me!" said Lillie, pushing her mother away. "It was totally my idea to enroll there in the first place."
"I remember it differently." said Lusamine.
"Is it too late go back?" Meeko asked Jordan.
"Yeah…it's already too late for us to go back to our hiding spot." said Jordan, taking a bite of a graham cracker.
"Figures." grumbled Meeko, taking a graham cracker off the plate.
"So you really think that Nebby is really one of these Ultra Beasts?" asked Ash.
"It's statistically likely." said Burnet.
"Any physical element with some sort of close relation to that other world, as well as Ultra Beasts themselves….well, they emit something that resembles a kind of aura." Faba said snobbishly. "Yes, our lab constantly measures it. Wicke, please?"
"Right." said Wicke as she types away, bringing up the Altar of the Sunne, causing Ash and Jordan to gasp. "Last night, we measured an enormous spike in the aura's power, in the vicinity of the Altar of the Sunne, located on Poni Island."
"And just a little while ago…." said Faba but was interrupted by Ash and Jordan.
"That's the place!" shouted Ash.
"I knew it!" said Jordan. "I knew that we weren't dreaming about Melemele Island last night!"
"Pika! Lucar!" said Pikachu and Meeko in agreement.
"Huh?"
"What do you mean?" asked Kukui.
"What place, you two?" asked Rotom.
"I remember." said Ash. "That's where Jordan and I were in our dreams. And also, there were really two cool looking Pokémon that appeared from out of the sky, Solgaleo and Lunala."
"Yeah. I can tell you that Lunala's wingspan is way bigger than Articuno's, Moltres' and Zapdos'." said Jordan, remembering the dream. "That's if you put them side by side to compare."
"And right after that, Nebby appeared from a blinding light….." said Ash.
"Solgaleo?" asked Kukui.
"Lunala?" asked Burnet.
"Lusamine?" asked Wicke.
"Those are names that we know only by what we've learned through legends." Lusamine explained. "And now they have both appeared to Ash and Jordan!"
"It's a dream! A child's fantasy!" said Faba, causing Meeko to growl lowly at him as she sees a negative aura surrounding him.
"Ash, Jordan, of course you'll allow the Aether foundation to look after Nebby. Wont you?" asked Lusamine.
"The Aether foundation has an entire installation that houses Pokémon with the utmost respect, love and care." said Wicke. "You can rest easy knowing it's in good hands."
"Yeah, but….." said Ash, looking down at Nebby.
"Um…..a-about that…." said Jordan, hiding behind her brother.
"But what?" Lusamine asked the siblings.
"We made a promise to them!" said Ash and Jordan as they looked at each other and smiled.
"We promised Solgaleo and Lunala that we'd take good care of Nebby." said Ash. "So, we'll have to take care of it ourselves."
"I made a personal promise to Solgaleo and Lunala on my end, I would sing to Nebby at night to help it go to sleep." said Jordan.
"Huh?" said Nebby, waking up from its nap.
"Jordan's really good at singing and making up a dance routine." said Kukui, smiling as Burnet was taken aback by it.
"Really?" asked Burnet, causing the young girl to blush.
"It's all my own work, too." said Jordan.
"Young man, young lady, Ultra Beasts are far too much of a burden for a set of little children like yourselves, to handle, UNDERSTAND?!" said Faba.
"Now, Faba…." Lusamine said sternly.
"You should know that Ash and Jordan are not only extremely strong trainers," said Lillie as Pikachu plays with Nebby. "but they both have received Z-Rings and Z-Crystals directly from none other than Tapu Koko."
"From Tapu Koko?!" asked Lusamine.
"Melemele's island Guardian! Wow!" said Wicke.
"Professor, is that true?" asked Burnet.
"Yeah! Our Ash and Jordan are both quite the promising young Pokémon trainers." said Kukui. "They both have already won grand trials on both Melemele and Akala islands."
Lusamine glances over at the brother and sister, watching them play with Nebby, who then floats into Jordan's arms. "I'm impressed. Ash and Jordan can handle this." said Lusamine.
"But Lusamine! You can't!" shouted Faba.
"Frankly, I'd like to know the reason why Solgaleo and Lunala entrusted little Nebby to your care." Lusamine said to Ash and Jordan.
"That's amazing!" said Lillie.
"But Ash and Jordan, if you both run into any kind of trouble, I'd like you to contact me." said Lusamine. "You will, right?"
"Right!" said Ash and Jordan. Nebby yawns in Ash's arms before falling asleep again.
"It's asleep again." said Ash.
"Pika." said Pikachu, affectionally.
"And cuter than ever." said Jordan, as Meeko hopped onto her back.
"Lucario!" said Meeko, smiling.
"So cute when it sleeps." said Lillie.
"Here we go." said Rotom. "We already got enough over chronic sleepers at home already." As always, Rowlet was asleep in Ash's backpack.
Narrator: Though the possibility that Nebby is an Ultra Beast hasn't been confirmed, it has definitely become one of Ash and Jordan's friends. We may not yet know its true identity, but we won't get any answers until Nebby wakes up again.
Jordan: That's true.
Behind Jordan, Meeko stealthily rushes over to one of the bookshelves, grabs one of Kukui's books, aims and quickly throws it right at Faba's head.
"Ouch! Who did that?" he asked, seeing an innocent halo around Meeko's head.
Narrator: What happened?
Jordan: Meeko happened. She just went into protective mode.
Meeko, nodding as she points to herself: Lucario, Lucar, Lucari.
Narrator: As the journey continues.
