At Aether Paradise, everyone was shocked at what happened. "Pika. Cario." said Pikachu and Meeko, worriedly.
Faba was shocked of what he had done as Lillie fell to her knees. "No, Lillie!" shouted Gladion, running over to her. "Lillie, are you alright?"
"No, Mother….Mother…." said Lillie, still in shock.
"Vul." said a worried Snowy, rubbing Lillie's hand.
"It took….Lusamine…" said Ash.
"Faba!" said Burnet as said man looks over at Burnet and Wicke, gasping. "Why did you do that without permission?"
"Because, because…." he stammered. "It's all Lusamine's fault, not mine! I'm innocent!"
"I'll save her. I've got to." Lillie said to herself as Burnet helps Jordan down. "I've got to save my mother!" Soon as she said that, Gladion gasps.
"We're coming too." said Ash as Jordan gave a firm nod. "We'll help you out."
"Ash? Jordan? Sorry you both got dragged into this, but this is a family from here on out, do you understand?" asked Gladion.
"But Gladion….." said Ash.
"Professor Burnet?" Gladion called out.
"Yes?"
"About reopening the Ultra Wormhole…." he started to ask.
"Not possible." she tells him. "It will take time to fix the machine. Even if it gets fixed, there's no guarantee the Ultra Wormhole can be stabilized. We need to find another way."
"Find another way? What do you mean?!" asked Gladion.
"I can't answer that yet." said Burnet.
"Oh, no…." Lillie sadly said. "Who knows what Mother's going through right now?"
"I'm certain we can figure out a way to deal with this." said Wicke. "In the meantime, I think it would be best if you returned to the island."
"But why?" Lillie asked.
"Lillie. There's really nothing else you can do right now." said Burnet as she placed a hand on her shoulder. "You need to rest for now. For when it counts. Do it for me." Nebby, in its cocoon form, floats down to the ground.
"Nebby!" said Ash.
"Ash, what are you holding?" Burnet asked.
"It's Nebby." he replied, then holds Nebby out to show Burnet. "All of a sudden, Nebby got really small."
"Right now…three out of four Ketchums are scared to hold Nebby." said Jordan as she, Pikachu and Meeko stood a ways from Ash.
"It's completely immobilized." said Rotom.
"Is it evolving?" Burnet asked herself as Ash and Jordan gasped. "Just a guess. What do I know? I think it would be best for everybody would be if the two of you would keep looking after it, all right?"
"Right." said Ash and Jordan. As night fell, a sad look appeared on Lillie's face as she looks out the window. Jordan was sleeping lightly against Gladion as Meeko laid across her lap. "Pika?" asked Pikachu, curiously.
"Man, I wonder if Lillie's mom would know why Nebby changed its shape like this." Ash said to himself.
"Yes, perhaps." said Lillie. "Remember, she entrusted Nebby to you and Jordan's care for a reason, of course…"
"I'm sorry!" Ash said, apologetically. "We'll get your mom back! Don't worry! Right, Gladion?" He didn't acknowledge the question. "I wonder if there's any way to open that Ultra Wormhole…"
"Pika…" said Pikachu.
"Lucar…" said Meeko.
After heading to Lillie's house, Ash and Jordan were placed in the car. "Well, Master Ash, Miss Jordan. Please be careful on your way home." said Hobbes.
"Right, thanks a lot, Hobbes." said Ash. "Lillie, see you later! You too, Gladion!"
"Lillie?" Ash called out.
"Yes, Ash?" she asked.
"See you at the Pokémon school tomorrow." he said as Jordan gives her a confused look on her face.
"Right." said Lillie, lightly laughing.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"Let's start preparing." said Jordan.
The car takes off to take Ash and Jordan home when Hobbes turns around to see Lillie and Gladion entering the house. Inside the house, Lillie had packed a bag with her Clefairy doll on top. She stood in front of her window as she tied her hair up. "Snowy?" Lillie asked as she faced her Pokémon partner. "Be good, okay?"
"Vul." said Snowy, sad and puzzled as Lillie gets her into the Pokéball.
"Oh, Hobbes. I'm sorry." said Lillie as she locked her window when she jumped at the knock on her door.
"Hey, Lillie. We need to talk." said Gladion, entering her room.
"But you can't just barge into my room like this!" yelled Lillie. "Especially since I was just about to get ready to go to bed."
"I see." said Gladion, heading over to the window. "If you're getting ready to go to bed, then tell me why you're dressed like that."
"AAH! These are my…my pajamas." said Lillie in hopes that her brother would take the bait.
"It's the Ultra Wormhole." Gladion tells her. "You were going to try and open it, weren't you?"
"You're wrong!" she said, turning away from him.
"Any idea where to go?" Gladion asked his sister, who shakes her head no. "I happen to know." Lillie gasps as she looks back at her brother. "But it's an extremely dangerous place, so I'm going alone."
Soon as he walks away, Lillie then asked, "You're going now?"
"That's right. I just wanted to let you know." he said but when he looked up, he saw Lillie standing in front of her door.
"Well, you can't!" said Lillie. "Because I happen to love our mother, too! I won't let you go by yourself! Take me with you!"
Having an intense staring contest with each other, Gladion sighs, knowing that he wouldn't win against his sister. "All right." said Gladion, then takes a look at what she was bringing with her. "However, if you're going, you can't take all that." He then tosses Lillie the lighter bag.
"Only take what will fit in there." he said.
"Got it." said Lillie and takes her Clefairy doll. "Oh, mother. Everything's going to be all right!"
Several minutes later, Silvally jumps off the second floor with Lillie and Gladion on his back. The next day, Ash and Jordan stare at Nebby as it was laid out on Ash's desk. "That's not Nebby, is it?" asked Mallow.
"Yeah." said Ash.
"It's kind of strange." said Lana.
"Yeah." said Ash.
"So….staring at Nebby is our option, right?" Jordan asked her brother.
"Yeah." he tells her.
"Okay." she replied.
"It happened at Aether Paradise and Nebby hasn't moved since." Rotom explained to the others.
"Maybe Nebby ate so much star candy that it actually turned into a piece." suggested Sophocles.
"Don't be ridiculous." said Mallow.
"Sorry about…..that." said Sophocles.
"So Ash, Jordan…..what happened at that place?" asked Kiawe.
"Well, you see…." said Ash and Jordan as they took turns, explaining to everyone what happened.
"Lillie's mom was actually kidnapped?!" asked Mallow.
"Kidnapped by an Ultra Beast?" asked Lana.
"Tell me this is some kind of joke…." said Kiawe.
"I wish it was but it's not." said Jordan.
"It sounds like something you should tell Officer Jenny about." said Sophocles.
"I sure hope Lillie is okay." said Mallow, looking behind her at Lillie's desk.
"When we said goodbye to her last night, Lillie was acting a little bit weird…" said Ash.
"And she hasn't showed up for school yet…." said Lana.
"She's never late." said Rotom.
"I wonder if she….." said Jordan when Kukui and Hobbes walked into the room.
"Professor Kukui." said Ash.
"And Hobbes." said Mallow.
"She's not here." Kukui said to Hobbes.
"Whats going on, Professor?" Mallow asked.
"I'm sorry." said Hobbes. "It seems Miss Lillie and Master Gladion have disappeared from the manor house."
"Disappeared?!" said Ash and Jordan.
"Runaways?" asked Lana.
"Can't be!" said Mallow.
"They went after Lusamine." said Ash. "They're trying to save their mom."
"But she disappeared through an Ultra Wormhole." said Kiawe. "How would they know where to go?"
"So they'd have to open up an Ultra Wormhole first, right?" asked Mallow.
"How could they do that if they don't know how?" asked Sophocles.
"Yeah, that's the thing. I don't understand any of this stuff." said Ash.
"We need a clue." said Kukui.
"Perhaps Master Gladion may have already known something and was keeping it quiet." said Hobbes.
"Since Gladion is familiar with the foundation's work, you may be onto something Hobbes." said Kukui.
"So what should we do?" asked Ash.
"Maybe we should ask the island kahuna." suggested Kukui.
"You're talking about Hala, right?" asked Ash.
"Yeah. Our island kahuna is there for us in troubled times." said Kukui.
"Let's go see Hala right away!" said Ash.
"I'll go too!" said Mallow as all but Jordan nodded.
"I want to come along, too!" said Rotom.
"I sure hope Hala can help us…." said Kukui.
"You guys go on ahead, Meeko and I will catch up." said Jordan, leaving the classroom with Meeko.
"Where are you going?" asked Kukui.
"I've got to go pick up some stuff." she tells him, turning around as she's half way out the door of the classroom. "It's a lot of stuff that I know we'll need for this rescue mission."
"It can wait until after we visit Hala." said Kukui.
"But…." said Jordan.
"After we visit Hala." Kukui said sternly.
"Fine." grumbled Meeko, crossing her arms and pouting.
"Fine." grumbled Jordan, following suit of her Pokémon partner.
"I see." said Hala as they all met at his house. "So basically, you're very concerned about the two who left and went through the Ultra Wormhole…now what exactly did this Ultra Wormhole look like?"
"It was like a big hole that came out of thin air." said Ash as Pikachu shakes Nebby. "And the Ultra Wormhole is what the Ultra Beast came out of. Then it grabbed Lillie's mom and took her away."
"I didn't like it." said Jordan.
"A big hole out of thin air…" said Hala. "Let's see. Did it have a shape that looked like giant tear in the sky?"
"You've got it! How did you know?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"You see, there happens to be an ancient legend that's been handed down from one island kahuna to the next." Hala explained.
"An ancient legend?" asked Kukui.
"That's right." said Hala. "It's called the Legend of Solgaleo."
"Solgaleo?" asked the brother and sister, looking at each other.
"We both saw Solgaleo in a dream!" said Ash.
"A dream?" asked Hala.
"Yeah! And Lunala was there too!" said Jordan.
"In our dream, Solgaleo and Lunala asked us to take care of Nebby." said Ash.
"Really…." said Hala.
"After climbing a long bunch of stairs, there was a sun and moon pattern…." Ash explains.
"Through the fog, I saw four pillars with the Island guardians on them. I recognized Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele, but not the other two." said Jordan.
"Hm…A long staircase….a sun and moon….and Solgaleo and Lunala as well…" Hala said to himself. "The first thing that's coming to my mind from your words is the Altar of the Sunne."
"I think we've heard Wicke talking about that once! Right, Jordan?" asked Ash.
"Yeah, we were in the basement when she said it." said Jordan.
"A long time ago, a battle between Alola's island guardians and the Ultra Beasts took place at the Altar of the Sunne." Hala telling the kids of the legend. "The legend goes on to state that Solgaleo then tore open the sky and appeared from the tear."
"Tore open the sky?" asked Kiawe.
"That sounds like an Ultra Wormhole." said Lana.
"If we could get Solgaleo to help us out, maybe we'd be able to open an Ultra Wormhole." said Sophocles.
"I wonder if that's where Lillie and Gladion went." said Mallow.
"Yeah. They probably did." said Kiawe.
"First thing we have to do is go to the Altar of the Sunne." said Ash.
"Yeah!" said everyone.
"The Altar of the Sunne is located on Poni Island." said Hala.
"Poni Island?" they asked.
"So the Altar of the Sunne is up ahead?" Lillie asked as they reached Poni Island.
"That's right." said Gladion. "The Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo's there. At least, that's what the legend says. There's no turning back, Lillie."
"I understand. For the sake of our mother, I've got to see this through!" said Lillie.
"You won't be alone." Gladion said.
"Huh?"
"I'll be with you." he tells her.
"You're right." said Lillie, smiling.
"Let's go." Gladion said to Silvally as he walks the path to the Altar of the Sunne.
Meanwhile, back on Melemele Island, everyone was standing outside a boat as Jordan sits on her backpack. "Hobbes? Isn't this boat…." asked Ash, pressing down on his sister's shoulders.
"I asked Wicke to make the necessary arrangements for its use." said Hobbes. "You should be able to catch up to Lillie and Gladion in no time."
"That's great, Hobbes. Thank you." said Kukui.
The boast takes off towards Poni Island as they waved to Hobbes at the pier. At the entrance to the Altar of the Sunne, Lillie sees 3 statues of Popplio, Rowlet, Litten.
"Rowlet….Litten…and Popplio statutes…." said Lillie, then sees their types on the wall behind them. "I get it! I'm supposed to move each of the Pokémon statues to its corresponding type!"
Lillie tries her best to push the Popplio statue towards the water type sign when Gladion and Silvally walked up. "Hey Lillie? What do you think you're doing?" he asked.
"What am I doing?" Lillie asked, looking over her shoulder before looking at the door in front of them. "That door won't open unless we solve the puzzle, right?"
"Hold on." said Gladion before walking to the door and pushing it open. Lillie gasped at this. "It seems to me that moving those statutes is the problem." he tells her.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Move over." said Gladion as she follows his direction. "Silvally! Push the statue!"
"Vall!" growled Silvally as he pushes the Popplio statue back to reveal a thorny trap.
"In the future, you should be more careful with anything that looks suspicious." Gladion advised.
"I guess so…" said Lillie as they both came across a broken bridge. "What do we do? How do we get over there? I remember! I'm certain I've read about this before! There has to be an invisible bridge here. I'm sure of it! Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle…."
"Whats that for?" asked Gladion.
"Well…" said Lillie, feeling embarrassed by what she did. "I'm just searching for the invisible bridge."
"Stop. Come with me." said Gladion, feeling bad for his sister as he pulls her up on Silvally. "Silvally! Now jump!" Silvally growls at this as he jumps to the next ledge as a piece of the ledge falls. "No mystery that I can see." he said to Lillie. "It seems there may have been a bridge here once, but no longer."
"But Gladion, how do you know so much about this place anyway?" Lillie asked.
"The foundation's database. From Mom and Professor Burnet." explained Gladion. "When they both traveled here."
"Amazing." said Lillie, pleased of her brother. "You know so much, Gladion! Unlike me. I forgot everything. I feel useless sometimes. No help at all. And there's nothing I can do! Tell the truth, Gladion. Am I a burden to you?"
"If you are, are you going to stay behind?" he asked.
"Guess not." she answered.
"Then move forward and keep looking ahead." Gladion informs Lillie. "Even if you went back, nothing would change, no matter what you do. It wouldn't bring Mother back, either."
"Right." said Lillie, nodding.
"Let's go." said Gladion and continued on. They entered a room that was crumbling and over growing with forest life. "I don't see a thing." said Lillie as she jumps down from Silvally's back.
"Look over there." Gladion said, seeing the doorway on the other side of the room, leading the way to the Altar of the Sunne.
"That means the Altar of the Sunne is just up ahead!" gasped Lillie and runs ahead. Suddenly, Silvally starts growling in warning after Lillie.
"Wait, Lillie!" Gladion called out after her, causing the young girl to stop in her tracks as a Pokémon and its evolved form, growled threateningly in the shadows around her.
"They're Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o!" said Lillie as both Pokémon came out of the shadows.
"I guess they're not going to let us through without a fight." said Gladion. "Silvally!"
"Val!" growled Silvally as he jumps in front of Lillie.
"We won't be able to rescue Mother unless we keep moving ahead." said Lillie, remembering what Gladion told her. "Snowy, GO!"
"Vul!" squealed Snowy, ready for anything.
"Jangmo-o! Hakamo-o!" said Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o when something growled and made the room shake.
"Now what?" asked Gladion as an attack knocked Lillie into him. "Are you all right?"
"Yeah, but what happened?" Lillie asked her brother. Just then, Poni Island's totem Pokémon arrived, challenging them.
"Kommo-o!" growled Kommo-o, Poni Island's totem Pokémon.
"Just stay back." said Gladion, with his arm out to protect Lillie.
"That body covered in scales…a Pokémon that's both a Dragon and a Fighting type!" said Lillie. "It's Kommo-o! You know, it's a lot bigger than what I remember in my book!"
"It's huge. Maybe it's the altar's Totem Pokémon." said Gladion. "All right! Witness Silvally's power. The fearsome power of the mighty beast!"
"Vally!" growled Silvally.
"You and Snowy take care of Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o!" said Gladion.
"Got it, Gladion." said Lillie, finally experiencing her first double battle.
"Now, Silvally! Charge forward!" shouted Gladion as Silvally growled again.
"Snowy! Powder Snow!" shouted Lillie.
"Vul…..pix!" screamed Snowy, releasing Powder Snow.
"Silvally, use Crush Claw!" shouted Gladion.
"Sil….Vally!" growled Silvally as his claws became red and hits Kommo-o, who then feels the pain of the attack.
"It's tough." said Gladion as Kommo-o threw Silvally off it and used Clanging Scales. "Silvally, dodge it! So troublesome…."
"Hey, Gladion?" Lillie asked. "Is it possible for Silvally to switch to a Fairy Type?"
"Fairy Type? Of course!" said Gladion. "Because we're battling a Dragon Type…Silvally! Accept this Fairy Memo…."
Just then, a Jangmo-o attacks Gladion, causing the Fairy disk to be thrown out of his hands. "No, Gladion!" cried Lillie.
"Where's the memory?" he asked, knowing that it was somewhere in the room. They both looked across the room to see that the disk was behind Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o, and Kommo-o.
"Gladion?" asked Lillie, getting her brother's attention.
"Now what?" asked Gladion.
"Snowy and I will create a path together!" she tells him.
"Lillie?" Gladion asked.
"Snowy, Powder Snow!" shouted Lillie.
"Vulpix!" shouted Snowy, sending another round on Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o, stopping them in their tracks.
"Use that again!" said Lillie. "But this time, aim towards the ground!"
"Vulpix!" said Snowy, using Powder Snow on the ground, making it slippery to walk on.
"Gladion, you're all set!" said Lillie.
"All right! Silvally, NOW!" shouted Gladion as both trainer and Pokémon ran across the ice. "This is it…our path to victory!" Kommo-o growled threateningly at Gladion and Silvally as they slid across the ice towards it. "Yes!"
Gladion had finally picked up the disk from behind Kommo-o and throws it, shouting, "Silvally!"
"Kommo-o!" bellowed Kommo-o as it uses Clanging Scales on the ground, creating a dust storm around Silvally. Lillie covered her eyes as she asked, "Are you all right?"
As the dust clears, the color on Silvally's tail, behind his eyes and the fin on his head were now pink. "Dragon type claws can't pierce a Fairy Type's armor…." said Gladion. "when the Fairy Type is cloaked in light!"
"Amazing!" exclaimed Lillie. "AAH! Its attacking!"
"But a Fairy Type's attack can slash through a Dragon type's scales." he then said. "Silvally, Multi-Attack, let's go!"
Silvally roared as pink energy surrounded his body and attacks Kommo-o. Once slashed across the face, Kommo-o falls to the side as Silvally growls in triumph. "Great job, Silvally!" Gladion said, praising him.
"Oh, Gladion, that was wonderful!" said Lillie, carrying Snowy in her arms.
"Thanks to your help, and Snowy's, too." said Gladion. "Let's go."
"Okay!" she replied. Silvally growled softly, looking up as a piece of the room fell at Gladion's feet. "What is it, Silvally?" Gladion asked.
"Gladion!" said Lillie, looking up at the ceiling as well.
"Oh, no!" he shouted as it starts to cave in on them. Lillie starts to freak out as Silvally takes the brother and sister out of danger. As a huge stone starts to fall above Lillie, out of nowhere, Electro Ball was shot through the air and broke it into pieces, which were then thrown at the walls with a couple of Shadow Balls.
Once out of the room, Silvally turns around, showing Lillie and Gladion that they were followed by the others. "Hey!" shouted the others as they made their way through the rubble.
"It's Ash and Jordan….." said Gladion.
"We made it!" said Ash.
"Finally! Break time!" said Jordan, dropping to the ground with Meeko on her back.
"Lucario!" Meeko exclaimed, then raised her arm. "Lucari!"
"Thank goodness you're okay!" said Mallow.
"Nice job, Ash and Jordan!" said Lana.
"What are you all doing here?" asked Lillie.
"What do you think?" asked Ash. "We wanted to help rescue your mom."
"I already told you!" said Gladion. "The family should be dealing with all this!"
Before he answered, everyone looks at Jordan, who was still catching her breath on the ground. "I'll deal with him in a minute…..munchkin's catching her breath." said Jordan, looking up at her brother.
"But, Gladion….." said Lillie.
"Gladion….in Alola, people share all sorts of stuff, right?" Ash asked as Gladion was caught off guard. "And if that's true, then that means you can share your family stuff with us, too! With all of us! We'll deal with everything together, and pitch in, and help out with the big stuff, too. Don't you think that's a great idea?"
"Pika!" Pikachu said in agreement.
"Ash has a point, ya know!" said Jordan, looking up at Gladion.
"Lucario!" Meeko said in agreement.
"But, I….it's just….." said Gladion.
"Here's the thing." said Lillie. "What I'm going to say may not make a lot of sense to you, but…..I think letting them help is a great idea! I think we have a better chance of rescuing mother if we all go! I don't feel it! I know it!"
"Lillie….I understand." said Gladion, then turns to the others. "Thanks for your help."
"Let's look for Solgaleo! Let's do it for Lillie's mom!" said Ash.
"Right!" shouted the others. Silvally growls lightly as he picks Jordan up from the ground. "Vall…." said Silvally.
"Aw….I guess break time's over." said Jordan, pouting as he butts his head against hers and Meeko's as the group finally heads toward the Altar.
"Not fair, Silvally." said Meeko, pouting as well.
"So this is the Altar of the Sunne." said Gladion.
"Solgaleo! Hey, where are you?" Ash and Jordan called out when suddenly, Tapu Koko takes Ash's hat.
"Ash, Jordan, look up there!" said Lillie, pointing to the sky.
"Tapu Koko!" said Ash and Jordan.
"Koko!" the island guardian greeted.
"Pika. Lucar." greeted Pikachu and Meeko as Tapu Koko returned the oldest Ketchum's hat.
"Long time, no see!" said Ash.
"How's it going?" asked Jordan with a bright smile on her face.
"Koko!" Tapu Koko cried out, calling the other island guardians.
"It's Tapu Lele." said Lillie as Akala's island guardian heard the call.
"Here come the others." said Kiawe as the other two island guardians arrived.
"Alola's island guardians are all here!" said Rotom as he took pictures. "This is a big deal!"
"Whats going on here?" asked Ash.
"Yeah…." said Jordan as they stared at all four Island guardians.
