Plot bunnies strike wherever and whenever they want to. They haunt your dreams and imagination until you give in and write them down. Just like this one.
This a crossover between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate, but does not involve any of my established au's. I'm trying my hand at writing my own YAHF. I've seen some similar stories where Xander becomes a real person that night and retains all of their knowledge. I always thought it was stupid of the show runners to let him gain knowledge that night, make it useful occasionally and then just let it fade away so they could focus on Buffy and Willow. Xander's knowledge could have been useful, even as a background player. Don't worry, I will be continuing my Protectors series. But if I don't get this out of the way, the afore mentioned haunting will continue.
That being said, Xander will retain knowledge gained that night. Dangerous knowledge as evidence by the title. Knowledge a civilian not in the know is supposed to have. It will change the course of his life, giving him a new direction. Along the way, he will gain strength and confidence in himself.
He won't be alone in his journey, Cordelia will be there too. For the duration of their relationship in canon, until that ridiculous Fluke, they were great together. Like in all of my stories, they're together and staying together.
Stargate is the property of Double Secret Productions and others.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the property of Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy.
This is a work of fiction, meant to entertain, if I offend I apologize, that is not my intention.
Dangerous Secrets
Xander and Cordelia made their way stealthily onto the National Guard base outside Sunnydale.
"Security really is a joke here. I should report it to someone." Xander muttered as he led Cordelia toward the armory.
"Who am I supposed to be again?" Cordelia asked.
"You're supposed to be a girl. Think you can handle it?" She slapped his arm, annoyed.
Just then a voice said.
"Halt! Identify yourself right the Hell, now!"
"Private Harris with the 33rd."
"The 33rd are on maneuvers."
"Right, I'm on leave from them."
"And who's she?"
"Hi! I'm not a soldier, am I?"
"She's just a girl. I just want to give her the tour."
"The tour?"
"You know the ladies. They like the guns, it gets them hot and bothered. So, can you cut me some slack, look the other way?"
"And why should I?"
"Because if you do, I won't tell Colonel Newsome, your post wasn't covered, your boots aren't regulation and you hold your gun like a sissy." Xander said, as he grabbed it away from the guard and then held it out to him.
The guard made a disgusted face and said. "You have twenty minutes."
"I only need five." Pause. "Forget I said that."
He and Cordelia entered the armory. Cordelia made herself comfortable while Xander began looking for what they'd come for.
"So what was that about?" Cordelia asked.
"What was what about?"
"Out there, with the guard."
"Oh. Remember Halloween when I turned into a soldier? Well I still remember all of it. I know procedure, ordinance. I know the layout for this base and the access codes. And a few other things."
"Oh. Well, color me impressed."
He turned to look at her. "Really? I actually managed to impress you?"
"Yeah, a little." She smiled at him.
Xander decided that smile deserved a kiss, so he pulled her close and did just that. Before sighing and saying. "We gotta get what we came for."
"What did we come for? You never said."
"Shoulder held rocket launcher. Commonly called a Bazooka. The book said, it took an army to defeat the Judge and no weapon forged can kill it. Modern weapons aren't forged, they're machined. It's a totally different process and a loophole I hope we can exploit."
"You know how to use it?"
"Theoretically. It's part of all the knowledge I've got in my head from Halloween."
"Didn't Giles say it would all fade away? Buffy couldn't remember any French or Italian after a just couple of days."
"Yes, he did. I told him I could still remember it all and he said, it's no big deal. I'm not sure he even believed me."
"Well, maybe this will prove it to him. Did you find it yet?"
"Yep. Here we go. I'm going to need to lift you up, so you can open that window up there. It's just out my reach. Once it's open, I can work it up and out of the window. Willow and Oz should be ready to catch it."
"Willow was pretty upset about catching us kissing."
"Willow still thinks I'm going to notice she's a girl and want to date her. I know she's a girl, it's kinda obvious. I just don't want to date her. I mean she's like a sister to me. The idea is kinda of ew. You, on the other hand. I've been hoping you'd notice me for a long time. Long before Buffy ever came to town. Don't worry, I've given up on getting her attention. Not sure I'd even want it anymore, anyway. Given how she tends to treat me. I like snarking with you. I don't like being treated like I'm an emotional support dog."
Once they had pushed the Bazooka out of the window, they left the same way they came in, though the hole in the fence Xander had cut. Once back at the library, Xander set the box on the table, opened it and said. "Happy Birthday, Buffy. Hope you like the color."
She liked it even better when it reduced the Judge to several thousand pieces.
