Last time…

'"Evan-san…" Euliya weakly called out, and Evan was immediately by her side, gently lifting her upper body up so she can talk to him easier. "Thank you, Evan-san…"

"It was no problem, Euliya-san… Anything for a friend of mine…" He said, and she smiled gently.

.

'He's so nice... I might use that number more than I thought I ever would.'

Duel Academy is a very prestigious school. That's obvious, but Evan did not expect a helicopter ride for all the new students going into the new school year. He felt uncomfortable doing so, as the roof of the helicopter was much too short for him, and his legs were too long for the seat he sat in, so he ended up in a position where his knees are to his chest while on his seat. As he sat uncomfortably, his wired earbuds were in his ears blasting some Japanese music that he's never heard of. But that's not the thing that gained people's attention. It was the fact that this 6'8" tall guy is even here with them.

Despite being so intimidating to the other students, there was two that wasn't as intimidated as others might have thought. One was an adrenaline filled boy with kuriboh-like hair that was constantly staring pout of the window named Jaden Yuki. The other was a calm girl that sat right next to the boy reading a book. The pinkette's name was Euliya Sumeragi. Euliya and Evan are friends that ended up talking even more after the day at the initiation tests. They became close friends since other people that hung around the two either thought they were weird or too intimidating. Evan was quiet throughout the entire ride, sat in the same position as when they got on, which disturbed the people around them, but they couldn't see the pain on the boy's face.

'Please get me off this fucking helicopter! This is so uncomfortable!'

Just as the angered boy thought that, though, he felt a hand rest on his shoulder, and when he looked over he saw Euliya calmly looking at him with a smile, as if reading his mind. But after Evan thought that the PA over the helicopter came on and a male voice rang throughout the helicopter.

"Please hold on, as we are soon to be landing at Duel Academy, ETA five minutes. Good luck duellists."

.

After they got off the helicopter, they were required to go to a freshman ceremony, which Evan and Euliya only went to after Evan was finished stretching. When they got to the assembly, they were the last ones to arrive as Evan's back had been really cramped after siting like that throughout the entire ride. As soon as they walked into the building that they were meant to go through, the boy had gotten so many stares from people just because he towered over absolutely everyone. Even the next tallest boy had stared at him in shock, while Evan kept a blank face.

As Evan and Euliya were walking through the building, they were both stopped and given what looked like blue uniforms by the man/girl thing that was beaten by that Yuki kid.

"Congratulations, you both! You two are undeniably Obelisk blues! Evan Richards my boy, you were the top scorer on both exams and Sumeragi-san, you scored high as well, but you only got second place for the girls." The man, presumably Dr. Crowler had explained to them.

"And who scored higher than me?" Euliya questioned with a dark look on her face, which made Evan sweat drop nervously. He placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down, and thankfully, she took a deep breath and resolved the expression.

"The top female Obelisk student, Alexis Rhoades. Why?" He question, puzzled.

"No reason." She answered blankly, making Crowler nervous, but he pushed through it.

"Very well! I will escort you both to your dorms, since I'm sure that you both don't want to go to an assembly full of scrubs, am I right?" he questioned with a happy expression, and both students nodded. "Good! I will escort you, Richards-san to the male dorm and Sumeragi-san, if you go ahead just a little bit you will see a sensei named Ms. Fontaine. She is your dorm-master and will guide you when she's done with her work."

Euliya nodded before walking away slowly, but not before turning her head and waving at Evan. Evan smiled and waved as well before he started to follow his new dorm-master for the rest of the year.

As soon as Evan finished settling down in his dorm, he immediately fell down onto his bed, tired enough to yawn loudly. Right after, his thoughts ended up moving on to the introduction to the Obelisk Blue dorm. The man named Dr. Crowler was incredibly nice to him, although from what he heard from his senpai's, the man was incredibly spiteful and was the most annoying teacher on campus. The fact that the man was so nice to him had made him curious, but he didn't question further, as he figured that it was because he was the top scoring Obelisk student in the entrance exam. As his thoughts began to settle, he felt the presence of someone behind him. He looked around just to see a bright light before what one could call a giant of a man appeared. The man, who seemed see-through, was wearing what seemed to be medieval armor had appeared. He had his arms crossed and had a neutral expression on his face.

"My lord, your phone was vibrating within your pockets while you were distracted. It seems that someone has messaged you." Arcana Knight Joker, the ace of his second deck had revealed to him, which made Evan smile to the man.

"Thank you, Joker. Sorry for making you tell me about it without noticing it myself." He face-palmed, embarrassed that he couldn't feel the vibrations but one of his duel spirits could.

"Of course, My Lord! I will head back now. Oh, and head's up, both Morningstar and Triumph are sleeping so I wouldn't try and wake them up." He explained, scared of the memories of what happened when he and his master had tried to wake them up, revealing that both get in a very bad mood if woken up rudely.

"That's okay, Joker. I wasn't planning on waking them up anyway..." He sweat-dropped, as he also had bad memories of the two spirits.

After Joker vanished a flash of light and a bow to his master, Evan pulled his new school-issued phone out of his pocket to find that he had indeed gotten a text message, two from different people. One was from a man named Chancellor Sheppard, presumably the principal of Duel Academy, which seemed to be a school-wide text that informed students that there was a dinner for every dorm tomorrow night and the time that it starts, as well as the time for classes the next morning.

The other message was surprisingly from Euliya, his new female friend.

'I have a request to ask of you, Evan. Can you please meet me at the school courtyard in half an hour. It shouldn't take too much of your time but if you'd like, I would like to spend some time wandering school grounds if you wish to follow as well.'

Seeing the message mad Evan smile as this was really the first time that he had been invited out by a friend when everyone could be relaxing. Deciding to reply to the text, he agreed and started to get ready. Putting on a tight black muscle shirt covered by the Obelisk blue blazer that was left open as well as navy blue baggy jeans, he grabbed both of his decks and inserted them in the cases that was on his belt, he left the dorm quickly. He was excited, surprisingly. If that man knew that Evan was feeling this way, he'd be jealous enough to annoy Evan for the rest of the afternoon.

As he walked, he checked the time on his phone. 16:21. As he saw the time, he realised that he would be a bit late to their meeting time, so he started to walk a bit faster, not having enough time to admire the surroundings around him as he walked. Once he got there, he saw Euliya's iconic pink hair stand out, so he started to walk closer to her. As he did, he could see the figure of another person next to her. They were both walking and talking, but they both looked very royal as they walked. While in his opinion, Euliya is in fact a very attractive girl, the person next to her seemed her best to try and make Euliya eat dust. The girl had long dark blond hair which was sporadically arranged, which created a regal effect about her. From what he saw, the girl seemed to have much bigger breasts than Euliya, and honestly it looked like it was twice the size. With her curvy proportions as well as a butt that he could see from the front, even through the girl's short skirt, she was very attractive and seemed to have a body that even pornstars would envy.

Although Evan hasn't really experienced porn himself, he feels like with the body that this girl has, she would be perfectly starred in one.

It seems as though Evan was staring at them though, as she turned her head and her eyes met Evan's, smiling gracefully. Walking towards him with the other girl in tow, he couldn't help but admire Euliya's figure as well. Although it wasn't as well done as the other girl's, it was nothing to scoff at. The small but perky breasts seemed to tightly gripped in her uniform as well as hips that make it seem like she had an hourglass figure as well as a short skirt that supported her plump thigh's image.

"Evan-san! Thank you for coming on such short notice." Euliya bowed as she thanked the boy, making him shake his head with a soft smile on his face.

"No, no, it's ok, Euliya-san. If anything, I am grateful that you did. I would just been in my dorm napping if it wasn't for you calling me out here." He smiled gratefully, which she nodded to before she looked at the girl next to her, who seemed awkward next to the two friends.

"Evan-san, this girl here is Alexis Rhodes, the only person to score higher than me on the entrance exam."

"Which I told you isn't such a big deal, Euliya-san..." She giggled before she turned to Evan and bowed respectfully. "As she said, my name is Alexis Rhodes. Euliya-san has told me much about you since we first met, Evan-san." She explained, which made Evan look at Euliya, who turned away with a small blush on her face.

"All good things I hope. I trust Euliya-san to make good friends for herself so I hope that you can treat her well within the future." He bowed, which made both girls blush slightly, since his blonde hair slightly fell in front of his face, and his handsome features seemed more exaggerated as he moved back up.

"N-No, it's fine, Evan-san! Euliya-san seems like a very nice person, and from what she told me of you, you seem like a person with respectable judgment so I'm grateful for hearing that you trust me."

"It's nothing. Now, Euliya-san. Why exactly did you call me out here? I'm sure it wasn't just to explore the campus, as you surely can do that alone with Alexis here." He pointed out to the girl, which made her smile.

"Well, I actually just wanted to know how good at the game you truly are. At the exam, you asked me whether you should go all out or not, and I thought that the bigger deck would be you going all-out. But it seems that that wasn't the case, as you used fairly mediocre monsters and even only won because of the Tribe Infecting Virus. Even though it was a good play, I don't believe that you really were going all out. So, I'd like to test that out. But, Alexis is here because I asked if she wanted to watch the duel and she said yes. Soooo..."

"Hmph." He chuckled, amused with her attitude and manner. "Very well, I shall grant you your wish. Let's go straight to the nearest duel field, shall we?" He started walking into the campus, his hands tucked into his pockets. The girls followed, with Euliya having a blush on her face.

As the group arrived at the arena, Evan felt so much more comfortable in the arena than he had in the entire school so far. This was where he really belonged, not in some stupid school where he'd have to learn the basics of what he already has perfected the art of.

"I hope you girls don't mind me getting comfortable before continuing, do you?" He asked as he started to unbutton his blazer. The girls, shook their heads, fine with it, but Euliya blushed as she saw the muscle-tight black shirt he was wearing underneath the blazer, which showed off his very toned build which surprisingly fit into his height fairly well. As he took off the blazer, he placed it on the guard-rail and walked to the field, pulling out his duel disk which he had prepared earlier. (Out of no-where ;) ) Euliya stepped onto the other side while Alexis sat down in the seats near Evan's blazer and watched intently as the two duelists' walked up to one another and started to shuffle the other person's deck carefully before handing it back.

"Be warned, Euliya. I will not hold back at all." He said with a gloomy and serious face, which surprised her but didn't deter her at all.

"That's all I want, Evan-san."

"Very well. Be ready then. Oh, and don't blink." He said ominously before he walked to the other side, with Euliya going to the other side.

"Let's duel!" Both teenagers said at the same time as their duel disks activated, as they stared at each other from across the field.

DUEL

EVAN – 4000

EULIYA – 4000

"Let's see what you got, Euliya! Oh, and ladies first, of course."

"Why thank you, Evan." She replied as they both picked up their cards.

EULIYA – 6 CARDS

"Hmm... Well then, first I'll start us off by summoning the first monster for my chain! I summon Amazoness Archer in attack position."

Amazoness Archer - (LV4) - WARRIOR - EARTH - (1400/1000)

"After her summon, I'm going to special summon a monster from my hand! I will use the effect of Amazoness War Chief! Since the only monsters on my field are Amazoness monsters, I can special summon her from my hand, and when I do, I can set one Amazoness trap from my deck and you won't find out about that until later..."

Amazoness War Chief - (LV5) - WARRIOR - EARTH - (1900/0)

"Then, I'm going to set two cards face down and play the field spell, Amazoness Village. I don't know if you know the effect, but if you don't then you're gonna have to find out until later."

"Cheeky girl…"

"What can I say? Anyway, I pass to you, Evan-san. Show me what you got."

EVAN – 6 CARDS

"I think it's time that I start your demise of this duel." He said darkly as he stared at his cards.

"Oh yeah, why's that?" She questioned with a smug face.

"Because I have a recipe to win and it all starts with this!" He pointed before grabbing a card and slammed it onto his duel disk. "I play Heavy Storm! Which gets rid of your backrow completely plus your field spell!"

The card activated, a tornado appearing, which lifts her cards up showing that she had Mirror Force, Call of the Haunted and Amazoness Shamanism face down.

"Well, isn't that handy, huh?" He smiled cheekily at the girl, who pouted before he grabbed another card from his hand. "Starting myself off, I will play Darklord Ukoback!" He exclaimed before a small armored monster appeared on the field.

Darklord Ukoback – (LV 3) – FAIRY – DARK – (700/1000)

"Now what does that do, Evan?" She seriously asked, with a tense look on her face, because she's never seen these kinds of monsters or even this archetype before.

"Oh, nothing much." He said calmly, as she breathed a sigh of relief. "But since it was normal-summoned, then I can send one Darklord card to my graveyard. It's not that bad. Before continuing, I will play the spell card Foolish Burial in order to send a monster from my deck to the graveyard. The I will play the spell card, Darklord Contact. I'm sure that you'll be surprised with the effect, but this card allows to special summon one Darklord card from my graveyard in defense position." The two girls were shocked as that type of effect on a normal spell card could be the kickstarter for a lot of plays.

'I wonder what Evan plans to do with these "Darklords" cards. they seem to revolve around the graveyard from what I've seen.' Alexis thought calmly as she stared at Euliya, who seemed to be weary of what was coming next.

"With that, I will summon the powerful Darklord Superbia!" As he placed the card in his monster zone, the hologram of a giant round-shaped monster with a face in the middle along with large orange wings appeared. The monster towered over everything else, and from the nonchalance of Evan's voice, he didn't seem to be the boy's strongest monster.

Darklord Superbia - (LV8) - FAIRY - DARK - (2900/2400)

"But wait, there's more! When Superbia is special summoned from the graveyard, his effect activates, allowing me to special summon one more Darklord monster from my graveyard, but this time, it will be in attack mode! Come, Darklord Nergal!" He called out, practically slamming the card onto his duel disk. The hologram appeared, showing what seemed to be a large knight like monster with pitch black wings and a weird red halo above its head. The size of the monster was almost twice the size of his previous monster which slightly scared the two girls, who had to stare at the monster that was unmoving, like a statue.

Darklord Nergal - (LV8) - FAIRY - DARK - (2700/2500)

The Amazoness monsters in front of them seemed to almost be scared of the monsters in front of them, mirroring the two girls.

'What the fuck is with these monsters?! They are busted as fuck!' Euliya swore in her mind, something that her dignity would never allow for her to do out loud.

'This is bad for Euliya-san. The way this is going, she's going to lose without another chance!'

"Now for the finishing move! Next, I will play the spell card, Pot of Greed! As you should know, it allows me to draw two cards." He looked at the cards he drew and gained a glint in his eye that Euliya didn't really like. "These cards will let me finish this puzzle. I play the card Double Summon which is self-explanatory. Using my extra summon and by tributing my Darklord Ukoback, I will summon one of the more powerful monsters in my deck. Answer thy call! Come to your master, Darklord Desire!" Once again, a giant monster had been summoned, and this one resembled a knight even more than the last one, as this monster had gold plated armor and was holding a a black and gold arm plates that look like blades which were almost the size of his form along with large red wings which wrapped around its form before unveiling, with the monster screaming out loud.

Darklord Desire -(LV10) - FAIRY - DARK - (3000/2800)

"Wait, wait, wait! But that monster would require two tributes, right?!" Euliya almost snapped, seemingly confused out of her mind as she now had three large monsters standing over her menacingly.

"Normally, that would be the case, but due to Desire's effect, he allows me to tribute only one fairy type monster to bring him to the field. If you're confused about that then you'll be baffled by this! By activating the other part of Desire's effect, I can destroy one of your monster with the simple cost of losing one thousand attack, which is nothing in comparison to what I'm gonna do to you! I destroy your Amazoness War Chief!" Darklord Desire waltzed up to the terrified monster and poked her with its finger, making her form shatter into thousands of little pieces.

Darklord Desire - (2000/2800)

If she wasn't before, Euliya was definitely nervous now. She had no backrow and the only card she had at all was her Amazoness Archer. Deducting this, Euliya knew that it was her loss, so she smiled and simply let Evan attack her.

"Now, my Desire will attack your Archer!" Saying so, the monster appeared in front of the terrified monster and struck her down with all he could, dealing slight damage to Euliya, which she was unfazed by.

EVAN - 4000

EULIYA - 3400

"Now, Superbia! Nergal! Attack her directly and end this duel!" The monsters walked up to her and hit her at the same time, Superbia with his wing and Nergal with his magic filled hand effectively ending the duel.

EVAN - 4000

EULIYA - 0000

EVAN - WINNER

"What did I say, Euliya? Don't blink." He chuckled at his own joke before walking over to his blazer and picked it up before he left the arena, leaving Alexis to check on Euliya. As he left he passed by two boys, one was fairly familiar, looking like the brown-haired kid he saw at the entrance exams.

As he started walking the halls of the school, he suddenly felt his phone vibrate in his phone. Picking it out of his pocket, he saw a call from an unknown number, which surprised him but he shrugged and put the phone to his ear and answered.

"Hello, this is Evan Richards you're speaking to." He said calmly, when a voice came out of the phone, sounding delighted.

"Ah, I thought this was number, Evan-boy! How's Duel Academy been so far, my boy?"

"Oh, it's you Pegasus-san, well it's been alright so far. Got into my first duel and used those cards you made. They work much more effectively than even you anticipated against these duelists." He explained his duel in thorough detail, while Pegasus listened intensely. At the end of Evan's story, Pegasus laughed expectantly.

"I'd expect nothing less of that result my boy! You are the one I found to be the most compatible with the spirits anyway! Well, I was actually just calling to check in and see how you were doing, especially to see how you were taking the news of your father's passing."

At that, Evan's face turned stone-cold and there was no expression on his face. He even stopped walking while the tone in his voice turned cold. "I'm doing fine, Pegasus-san. If that was all, I wish to leave now. I simply want to relax for now."

"Very well, my boy! I will leave you alone for now! But I also wanted to tell you that I-"

Pegasus didn't get to finish his sentence, as Evan hung up the phone and put it back on his face, a scowl appearing on his face. 'Why'd you have to bring that up, old man?! Now you just made me remember why I was even here in the first place.'

"Fuck!" He swore as he kicked the nearest trash can before walking back to his dorm in silent rage, not wanting to think about anything else related to do with Pegasus and his father.

"Well that was quite rude, my boy... Oh well!" Pegasus shrugged his shoulders, twirling the wine glass he had in his hands. "I didn't even get to tell him that I was coming to the island to see him. Well I guess it can just be a surprise for now..." He said as he stared out of the window at the rapidly setting sun. He smiled as he thought about the boy.

'Let's see how well you can do, my boy. Your results are what matters for us anyway. Let's just hope that he doesn't get too attached for now at least...'
