Fall 2015. Barstow, California.

She'd returned from the gas-station restroom to find him inspecting his fleece.

"I'm covered in hair." There were long brown wavy hairs and short brown and white boxer hairs.

"Oh, I'm sorry. We'll buy some hair rollers." She picked several hairs off him.

"When I bought this fleece a couple years ago… it was so clean."

"We'll find you something in another color; the black shows off the white hairs."

He shook his head slowly. "I didn't think it'd ever get hairy."

Finally she understood his meaning. "Don't worry." She kissed his jawline. "I'll never let you go hair-free again."

SOUNDTRACK

God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

– Brian Douglas Wilson and Tony Asher, "God Only Knows."
