"Uno!" Pearl placed her card down on the deck, grinning at Steven. "I'd like to see you try and beat me this time!"

"Aw, come on Pearl! You beat me every time!" He groaned and set his cards on the table.

"It's alright, Steven, you'll get her next time." Garnet ruffled his hair, and he looked up at her.

"Hey, Garnet? Pearl? I need a favor."

"Sure thing. What's up, Steven?" Garnet asked.

"Well, Connie and I went in the barn today to see Peridot, and when we got there, we overheard her talking into her tape recorder, and we think she has a crush on Amethyst."

Garnet nodded. "I see it. What do you need from me?"

"I was hoping you and Pearl could go on a date or a mission, and Connie and I will do the same thing, and then that will leave them together in the temple by themselves to have some bonding time to see where things lead."

"I think we can do that," Pearl replied. "It has been a while since we've had a chance to go out since we've had to deal with the Cluster. But I have to say, I never really saw Peridot as the romantic type."

"I don't think any of us did," Garnet replied. "But I have a feeling it'll go just fine."

"Are you using your future vision?!" Steven gasped.

"Maybe a little. But I'm mostly just guessing. I'll take Pearl out for the night tomorrow and you and Connie can find something to do in the meantime and we'll see how it goes."

"Thank you!" Steven grinned. "I gotta go tell Peridot! I'll be back soon!" Steven ran for the warp pad, waving goodbye as he warped away."

"Peridot!" Steven ran into the barn from the warp pad, face glowing with excitement. "Guess what?!"

"Oh, hi Steven. What did you do?"

"I got Pearl and Garnet to leave the temple tomorrow night so you can be alone with Amethyst!"

"Tomorrow?! That's so soon... Uh, okay. I can do this! I just gotta... rizz her up."

"You've been spending way too much time on your tablet," Steven laughed. "Do you have a plan?"

"No. I just wanna see how it goes. Like in Camp Pining Hearts. Paulette and Pierre were friends first. That's the best way for it to be."

"Good idea!"

"Bye, Steven! Have fun with Connie!" Amethyst waved goodbye as he made his way down the staircase, closing the screen door behind him. "Well, I guess it's just you and me today, P." She grinned. "I don't think that you and I have ever gotten any time just us yet." She flopped down over the back of the couch, legs hanging over the backrest and back laying on the seat.

"I don't think so either," Peridot answered, trying to hide her nerves as she sat down normally beside her. "I've mostly just been hiding out in the barn." Her way of sitting is... interesting. But this way I don't have to maintain eye contact. Not that that would be a bad thing. Agh, snap out of it!

"You don't have to do that, you know. There's room for you here. The temple is bigger than it looks. And you could always camp in the bathroom again."

"Hey! I was not 'camping'. You were holding me hostage. There's a big difference!"

"Do you even know what camping is?"

"...No."

Amethyst laughed. "It's some weird thing humans do for fun. They basically just go pretend to live in the woods for a while."

"What's the purpose of that?"

"I dunno. Humans are just weird sometimes."

"You can say that again."

"That again," Amethyst smirked.

Peridot laughed, a small smile on her face. "You're... something else, Amethyst."

"What's that supposed to mean?" She looked up at her for a moment, then shifted position to sit normally beside her.

"I- I'm not sure," She admitted. "I heard Connie say it to Steven. I thought it was a compliment. I'm sorry if I did something wrong."

"Ah Peri, I'm just messing with ya." Amethyst laughed and ruffled her hair, causing a dark green blush to spread across Peridot's face.

"Is that a good thing?"

"Yeah. I mess with everybody. Just means that I like ya." She grinned.

"Oh." Peridot's heart beat a little faster, unsure of what to make of all this. "Good, then."

"You'll learn how to Earth like a pro soon. I'm sure of it. I can teach you if you want. Kinda take you under my wing, y'know?"

I'd like you to take me under something else. Ahh! Did I say that out loud?!

"I would like that." She stumbled over her words, hoping she didn't sound completely ridiculous. Oh god, this is a disaster. She's gonna think I'm a total clod! "What's the best way to learn how to Earth?"

"You just gotta experience as much as you can. Like that time Steven took us to Fun Land? Earthing is all about doing new stuff and learning new things. Or, if you wanted to be a total nerd, you could read. Humans write lots of really neat stuff. Here, you can read this book I borrowed from Pearl, like, a hundred years ago. Come on, we'll go get it." She stood up from the couch and made her way toward the door to her room, beckoning for Peridot to follow her.

"Okay." She stepped into Amethyst's room, and her heart began to pound, butterflies flying furiously in her stomach. Holy shit. I'm in her room. I feel like I shouldn't be in here.

"Here P." Amethyst pulled a book off the shelf and passed it to her. "It's like, super cheesy in some parts, but humans eat that shit up, so I figure it's a good place to start. You do know how to read, don't you?"

She took the book cautiously and examined the cover. "Yes, I do know how to read, Amethyst. Thank you for asking."

"That was me messing with you again!" She laughed. "And you totally fell for it too."

"That was a good one. I'll get it eventually." She smiled at her, making eye contact with her for a brief moment before shifting her eyes downward shyly. "When do you want your book back?"

"Oh, I don't care. Like I said, stole it from Pearl. So unless she asks for it back, you can take your time with it." They walked out of Amethyst's room back to the living room, the book gingerly tucked under Peridot's arm. "Steven, you're back. How was... whatever you were doing?"

"It was great," Steven replied. "We went to the beach and fed Chaaps to the seagulls until the sun went down."

Peridot glanced out the window, noticing that night had fallen. It doesn't seem like we were here for that long. It was midday only a short while ago. "That sounds like fun."

"Whatcha got there?" Steven asked.

"Amethyst has given me a book to help me learn more about human culture. I'm going to take it to the barn to read it."

"Okay, have fun! Goodnight, Peridot."

"Goodnight, Steven. Goodnight, Amethyst." She waved shyly, awkwardly darting out the front door.

"Later, P." Amethyst waved as she made her exit.

"What did you guys do while we were gone?" Steven sat on the couch next to her and turned his attention to Amethyst, a big grin on his face, eager to see how things had developed. "Tell me everything!"

"We mostly just talked. Peridot's... interesting. Earth life is changing her, that's for sure." She looked him up and down. "You're weirdly invested in this, Steven. Is there something going on here?"

"I'd tell you, but then I'd have to poof you." Steven stared her in the eyes, a serious expression on his face.

Amethyst burst into laughter. "Whatever, dude. I'm gonna go to bed. I'll see you tomorrow."
