As Derek and Nick approached the door to Arabella's dorm room, it was opened by her roommate. "Dr. Rayne! I think there's something wrong with Arabella!" she said, looking shaky.
Derek frowned. "What? Is she sick?"
"I don't know. She hasn't gotten out of bed. When I tried to get her up, she cried and told me not to touch her."
Derek rushed past Arabella's roommate to get to his daughter. He knelt by her bed. "Arabella?" he said softly.
Hazel eyes opened slowly. "Daddy...?"
"It's been a long time since you've called me that," Derek said with a soft smile.
"They attacked me," she whispered.
"Who did?"
"Black haired woman... other people... They wore robes... Did something to my shoulder. It hurts..."
"I'm going to look at it," Derek said with a frown. "I won't touch it."
"Derek? How is she?" Nick asked from the doorway.
"I'm not sure yet," Derek answered as he looked at a mark on Arabella's shoulder. "But she says she was attacked."
Arabella's roommate reacted with surprise. "Attacked? But I only left her alone for a couple hours last night and I locked the door because she always wants me to when I leave!"
"Nick, could you come over here for a minute?" Derek asked.
Nick walked over.
"I'd like you to check her roommate for this mark. If she has one, it will be on the same shoulder," Derek said.
"This was some sort of occult attack?" Nick asked.
"Definitely. Please check the roommate. Just in case she's part of it."
"Alright." Nick went over to Arabella's roommate. "I know how this sounds, but I have to look at your shoulder."
The roommate frowned for a second. "Sure, you're cute enough."
"How many times do I need to tell you nothing will happen?" Nick asked her as he looked as her shoulder.
"I can always hope."
"There's nothing there," Nick called over to Derek.
"I got a butterfly tattoo. Do you want to see it?" Arabella's roommate asked Nick.
"If it's where I think it is, no."
"I just got a call from Nick," Alex said. "He says that Arabella was attacked by someone in her room last night."
Rachel frowned. "Is she in the hospital?"
"No, they're bringing her straight here and putting her to bed. Derek wants Philip to baprize her right away, even though I'm positive he said she'd been baptized as a baby."
"That's odd. What reason would there be to baptize someone twice?"
"I'm really not sure. I'm going to tell Philip what I know. Maybe he knows what reason Derek would have for wanting it done."
"I really don't know too many details about her mother," Philip said.
"I didn't ask about her mother," Alex said.
"Her mother has something to do with it. Derek once said the woman was evil. I believe one word I've heard him apply to her is 'seductress.' Though some would argue that doesn't make the woman evil, but Derek alluded to her having been in some sort of demonic sex cult. I'm guessing he didn't know until after his encounter with her. When she had Arabella, she abandoned her. I would imagine Arabella was baptized as a baby then just in case they could gain some sort of control of the Legacy through her."
"It sounds to me like you might no more than you think you do."
"Well... Arabella has postcognitive abilities. She tells me things she doesn't tell her father. She's seen flashes of her mother, I think. Why are you asking about all this now?"
"Nick called to tell me that Arabella was attacked in her dorm room last night."
"What?"
"I think Derek must believe she was attacked by the same group her mother's part of. Derek said he wants you to baptize her."
