Welcome! I wanted to do a simple school story and I like splatoon so I combined both! Idk if i'll update this one regularly so yeah. Cover art made by me!

Here's a quick description of the main boys:

Ori: A firefly squid inkling who wears feminine clothes. He has silver eyes, magenta ink and the larger tentacle in his megalobraid hairstyle glows. (he/they)

Blade: He has white eyes and lavender ink, with the hipster hairstyle. (he/him)

Enjoy! Also if you have issues with the story use constructive criticism! I read every comment/review and reply if I can! Keep in mind that this is only chapter 1!

It's the first day of school for the Splatlands. At Shark River High, over a thousand teenage seafolk were in and around the school, awaiting that first bell of the year…Or not, since a lot of people hate school. An inkling boy with a magenta braid was playing on his Nintendo Switch right by the front doors.

My name is Ori Hikaru, I'm 16 years old. I'm a firefly squid, meaning my tentacles can glow, but no one really knows this. Why? Because it's never dark at school, duh. I'm new, but I don't expect this school to have broken lights.

He smiled as he obtained another power moon in Super Mario Odyssey, the game he was playing. Then, the bell rang and everyone began to look for their classrooms. "Room 117, room 117…" Ori repeated under his breath, to remember the room he's going to.

As he was running, he crashed into another inkling. "Watch where you're going bitch!" shouted the other inkling, scowling. "Gee, sorry. What's your problem?" scoffed Ori. "You wanna know my problem? The problem is YOU." shot back the other inkling. The other inkling had pale eyes similar to Ori's, and lavender hair.

"Are you coming to class?" asked the teacher in room 117. The two were bickering right in front of his open door, meaning he easily saw them. Ori looked at the room number and realized he had arrived at his class. "Y-yeah." he responded nervously, quickly finding an empty desk inside of the room. The inkling Ori got into a fight with just scoffed and continued his walk down the hallway. "What's your name?" asked the teacher. "Ori." answered Ori. "Well Ori," replied the teacher. "Care to explain what was going on out there?" The class laughed when the inkling boy struggled to answer. "Anyways, I'm Mr. Lewis, and this is english class. I expect that you won't be getting into little quarrels like that again." said the teacher, sternly. Ori hastily apologized to him. "I won't sir, s-sorry sir!"

The inkling he got into a fight with found himself in detention. "Your name?" grumbled the detention teacher. "Blade Earth." the inkling grumbled back. "Glad to see you're already back." remarked the teacher. "Your usual desk is empty." Blade just glared at the teacher before sitting down. The teacher was pissed. "Seriously, on your first day? You're the only person who would behave this badly, no one else would-" The door opened.

"I fell asleep in class. Uhm, and my name is Ori!" Ori laughed nervously. He was asked to sit next to Blade, the lavender inkling angrily stared at him until he got to his desk. "Ugh, it's you again." groaned Blade. "I was in a bad mood earlier." Ori explained. "You wanna be friends?" he asked with a big and stupid grin on his face. "Go the fuck away." scorned Blade. "I get told that a lot." replied Ori. "My mom told me that it's them, and not me!"

"Boys, no talking!" shouted the detention teacher. "Actually I was pleasantly chatting!" Ori replied without a hint of sass. "DO YOU WANT ME TO EXPEL YOU?!" the teacher shot back. The firefly squid nervously shook his head. When detention ended, Ori found a note in his pocket that read "Meet me on the rooftop at 11. Even if you don't show up I'll find your annoying ass and drag you there." Lunch began at 10:45 and ended at 12, meaning it was starting in a few minutes. Some students were already getting weapons out of their lockers for a turf war. "HEY YOU!" shouted an octoling girl. "Huh?" Ori felt like that was directed at him. "YEAH YOU! MR. GIRLYPOP!" she shouted.

"Blade bullied you, didn't he?" she asked him. "Uh…Kinda?" answered Ori. "My name is Maya Splinters and I am the sergeant of the Anti-Blade Squad!" exclaimed the octoling. "We DO NOT tolerate bullying, well, actually I couldn't care less about other bullies, WE DO NOT TOLERATE BLADE AND HIS ANTICS SPECIFICALLY! FUCK HIM IN PARTICULAR!" she added. "I'm Ori!" said Ori, amazed by her confidence. "I think he wanted me to meet him on the rooftop later." the inkling explained. "THE WHAT?!" gasped Maya. "Oh no, oh no no no no! Ori, do you know what that means?" she asked. Ori shook his head. "I'm gonna be your bodyguard, okie-dokie?" insisted Maya. "If Blade gets near you, I'LL RIP THAT BITCH TO SHREDS!"

The octoling girl put on a pair of shades and walked right beside Ori, yelling at everyone to not bother him, for he is the toughest bully's biggest target. It was a bit weird at first, but the two ended up happily talking about random stuff. "Did your dad survive?" asked Ori. "Yeah, but he'll never be the same after seeing the TRUE POWER OF…My mom." answered Maya. "She's a little bit scary like that." Her watch then began to beep, her eyes widening at the time. It was 11. "11 already?" asked Ori. "Well, let's at least show up." said Maya.

The two arrived onto the school rooftop, the firefly squid began to grow very nervous as the other boy stepped out. "You showed up, huh?" Blade asked. "You even got my archrival by your side? How cowardly." Blade's face went from grumpy to a manic smirk, he kicked Ori to the ground. He then went to punch him, but Maya jumped in front, a small amount of blood dripped out of her nose from the hit. The firefly squid was full of fear, and Blade saw it in his eyes. "Give up?" remarked Maya, as the inkling boy lowered his fists. "Just…Fuck off." mumbled Blade. "Okay?" said the other two in unison, confused. Maya helped him up and took him to the nurse's office.

"Why does he do things like that?" asked Ori, holding the shitty ice pack the nurse gave him on his scraped knee. "I really don't know." said Maya. "During freshman year, I swore I saw him on the receiving end of things like this." she answered. "Either way, we've been rivals ever since last year. I've always been the toughest person in this school, and eventually he caught up. But I won't reveal any more details, you're too new for all this info!"

After lunch, the two parted ways. On Ori's way to class, everything went black. He was in the area with fewer windows, making the area especially dark. "Attention everyone, someone cut the electricity. I suggest using your phone's flashlight if you're away from the windows." announced the principal on the PA. As expected, Ori's longer tentacle began to glow, which basically served as his light. The dark room made him tired, so he fell asleep without considering the fact that he's literally in school.

The rest of the school began to panic, some classes, like the computer-related ones, couldn't teach anything with the lack of power. Meanwhile, an inkling boy was rushing around to get his phone. "Shit! I hate the dark!" He left his phone in the boys' locker room, and the nearest staircase was in the darkest hallway– The same one Ori was napping in. Ori was just waking up, the sounds of people screaming in the nearby rooms was enough to wake him up. He woke up to someone clinging onto his glowing tentacle. "You! Get me to the locker rooms NOW!" yelled Blade. "I'm not scared of the dark by the way, I just don't like it!"

Without saying anything due to his confusion, Ori led him down the hallway. "Look, even if I was scared of the dark, which I'M NOT, I can't afford that getting out to the entire school!" said Blade, trying to insist that he wasn't scared. Ori laughed, he could see right through him. "HEY! DON'T LAUGH!" Blade shouted, not recognizing the laughter. "You're getting a bit defensive there." remarked Ori. The other boy was too embarrassed to recognize the voice. "SHUT UP!" yelled Blade. The two made it down the stairs, and the light from the windows revealed their faces to each other.

"Fuck, THAT WAS YOU?" Blade yelled at Ori. "Yup!" he laughed, Ori was specifically laughing at Blade's face, he was deeply blushing from embarrassment. "Please don't hurt me…" Ori said nervously. Blade looked at him for a good moment, then looked away. "Thanks, I guess…" he muttered. "AND DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS!" Blade disappeared into the locker room.

After school, Ori's mother glared at him. "Did anything happen at school today, son?" she asked in a passive-aggressive tone. "I got a call from the detention room today, Ori." added his mother before he could say anything. "YOU APPARENTLY FELL ASLEEP IN CLASS!" The phone then rang, and she answered it. A minute later and the call was over. "...But it seems you also helped out a poor boy at school during the power outage." His mother smiled. "I'll let the detention thing slide this time." Her son let out a huge sigh of relief.

To be continued...

…And that's chapter 1! I don't have much else to say other than I had severe writer's block for a month and then I randomly just got all the ideas I needed to write the story.
