Izuku had just gotten back from his joint DynaDeku agency after dealing with the press and PR nightmare that was caused by a so-called pregnancy scare from a stalker/fan of his.
Standing in the genkan he heaves a sigh before calling out to his roommate "Kaachan I'm back!". As he waits for a reply he leans down to start prying off his shoes. After stepping into the living space he noticed a lack of reply from the blonde.
Izuku shrugged thinking that maybe he might be out and not back home yet. Trudging towards the couch, he flops down on his ass and takes out his phone to search for any new merch that might be available online.
After about 15 minutes he notices a shadow looming from behind him. He doesn't feel danger sense active so he knows it's not a threat. He tilts his head back against the couch to see Katsuki looking down at him with an unreadable expression on his face.
"Everything alright Kaachan? Did I wake you up? I'm sorry."
The blonde grunts and then walks around the couch to sit next to Izuku with an arm's length of space between them.
"Deku..." He takes in a deep breath "would you ever keep something really important from me?" Katsuki is staring at his lap with his fists on his legs, unable to make eye contact.
Izuku furrows his brows in concern, turning his body on the couch with one leg bent and the other foot on the floor so that he is facing the blond. "Kaachan? Why would you ask that? What's going on?"
"Deku, please tell me the truth." Katsuki looks up to look Izuki in the eyes, with an anxious expression. "Are you pregnant?"
Izuku sat there with his jaw on the floor. He couldn't believe what Katsuki was asking him. Was he seriously believing what some crack head on the street was saying? "How could you ask me that? Did you not see what I said at the press conference?"
Katsuki looked away and clicked his tongue. "I wanted to hear it from you, nerd. You know you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV." Crossing his arms, he glared at his lap.
"Kaachan, you should know me better than that. You know I would never lie. Especially to you. I am not pregnant. I've only met him at fan events, nothing outside of that. I didn't even know their name until this whole scandal happened." He took a big breath and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I honestly don't even know why you're so upset about this."
"Tsk." Katsuki looked up at Izuku with relief. "Want me to go kick his ass?"
Izuku laughed. "No, no, that's okay, PR is dealing with him. I've already pressed charges, and they will take it further." He shook his head with a smile. "I just want to relax now, and maybe eat myself stupid."
The blond stood up and walked to the kitchen. "I'll make some Katsudon and then we can watch that new release."
Izuku sprung up with excitement. "Katsudon!? Oh, my kami! Thank you Kaachan!" Following the blond, he sat at the kitchen island to watch his best friend cook. "Kaachan is the best!"
"Heh, of course, nerd." He busied himself with getting all the ingredients together. "You know, wouldn't it be easier to pretend to be courted so that shit like this doesn't happen in the future?"
The greenet mulled the thought in his mind. It would make others back off and make his life a bit easier. However, wouldn't it also impede him if he decided to settle down one day? Also, who would he be able to trust with such a task? It's not guaranteed that said party would keep it pretend.
He was shaken out of his thoughts. "Oi! Stop mumbling!" He was in the process of breading the pork cutlets. "You already have someone you can trust like that."
As his head tilted, Izuku looked at the blond with curiosity. "I do? Who?"
Katsuki tilted his head back with a sigh before looking the greenet in the eyes. "Me, you idiot."
Izuku felt his face heat up with a blush that would rival Eijiro's hair. "Kaachan!" Sputtering, he cast his eyes away, unable to meet his eyes. His long-time crush and best friend were suggesting they pretend to court! "You can't be serious!"
Katsuki glared at the smaller man. "What's so wrong with me idiot!? You know you'd be able to trust me, and besides, it would be easy to believe because our fans are already shipping us together, not to mention the fact that we've known each other most of our lives. I'm a catch and you know it. Also, when you're ready to settle down, you won't have a problem with me on that front."
Izuku felt a cold stab in his heart. Of course, the blond would never want him as a mate, would never want to court him for real. He would never feel the same way he does. "You're right Kaachan." He tried to put a genuine smile on his face. "So how would you propose we go ahead with this fake..." He felt himself wince at the word. "...courting?"
"Don't worry about it nerd, I'll plan everything. We'll talk to PR when we go to the office again. For now, let's eat and relax."
Izuku nodded along, hiding how he felt like his whole world felt like it was crashing at his feet. "Okay, Kaachan."
...
After they had done eating and come up with a plan of action, Katsuki had advised that once the whole pregnancy debacle had died down, they should do a PR event to announce the "courting".
Izuku had reluctantly agreed as he wasn't someone who liked to advertise his private life. He felt things of such a matter should be private, yet Katsuki had said what was the point in keeping private when they wanted everyone to believe the facade, albeit with a few exceptions of a few very close people knowing the truth.
Izuku had asked that they at least first sit down with their parents to explain the whole plan before anyone else.
So that is where they currently were, outside Mitsuki's door waiting to gain entrance after asking for a family meeting between their parents.
The door swung open to show Mitsuki smiling. "Brat!" She pulled her son in for a hug that Katsuki begrudgingly accepted. The Alpha woman then pulled Izuku into a bone-crushing hug. "Izuku darling! So good to see you! Come on in boys! Lunch is almost ready." She then stepped aside after letting Izuku go, the greenet taking in a lung full of air after it being squished out of him.
The hero duo walked in and slipped off their shoes before walking further into the house. Mitsuki closed the door after them.
"Nice to see you as well aunty." Izuku smiled meekly at the woman. "I hope we weren't late."
Mitsuki pinched his cheek fondly. "You know you can call me Mitsuki, we're still old pack darling."
Katsuki had already huffed off further into the house, leaving Izuku behind. "Sorry Mi...Mitsuki, I will."
She then held his arm to pull him further in. "Masaru is in the kitchen with Inko finishing off lunch. How about you and Katsuki go ahead and help Toshi finish setting the table and then we can eat okay?"
He nodded and then went to go find Katsuki.
After they had all finished greeting each other, sitting at the table set with food, they started to dish up.
Masaru was the first to bring up the reason for the meeting. "It's unusual for either one of you to call for a meeting with us, is anything the matter?"
Izuku feels his face heat up with the plan they have. "Um...well...yo..you see, I have a...there was an issue..."
Katsuki huffed out an exasperated breath before grumbling out "It's got to do with the shitty press conference a few days ago, where that fucking psychopath said he got the Nerd pregnant. We've come up with a temporary plan to stop shit like this from happening again." The blond took another bite of his food, chewing angrily as if it was the food that offended him.
Yagi shook his head in worry. "Some fans always seem to go a little crazy over their favorite hero nowadays. Back in my golden days, fans had more respect for us heroes. So what is this plan of yours then?"
Katsuki swallowed his bite of food before replying "I'm going to court Izuku." He then continued to take another bite of his food as if he had simply commented on the weather.
There was a moment of dead silence at the table. The blond slowly chewed on his food as Izuku's face heated up.
"WHAT!?" Mitsuki shrieked loudly. Everyone looks at the hero duo in shock.
Izuku was quick to interrupt before any misunderstandings could happen. "Pretend! Kacchan is going to pretend to court me!" Hiding his face behind his hands in embarrassment.
"What do you mean to pretend to court Izuku? What is going on?" Inko questioned the pair, looking very shocked by the situation.
"Kaachan is going to pretend to court me to maybe stop any future issues like the last one." He fiddled with his chopsticks, unable to look up at anyone, hoping the blond would take over.
Masaru had been quiet most of the afternoon before asking "Are you sure this is a good idea? What if someone gets hurt?"
Katsuki looked up at that. "Why would anyone get hurt, old man? We won't be lying to anyone important. We need shitty extras to understand that the idiot Nerd isn't available. That way he won't have to deal with an asshole's stupid idea of trying to tie him down."
The Omega nodded in understanding. "I see where you two are coming from, but it could cause a strain between you. You'd have to pretend for the public and act like there is such a connection between you two. Would you be able to do that without getting your feelings hurt and straining your friendship?"
Katsuki grunted before answering. "We both know each other well enough to not let that happen. We both also know that there aren't any such feelings between us like that, so don't get your panties in a twist old man."
Izuku felt his heart sink at the words, knowing that they hadn't even started the plan and already his heart is breaking. Well, not like it can get any worse. "It's alright uncle Masaru. We understand and know what we are doing, you needn't worry about us." He put a smile on his face, hoping it looked genuine.
Mitsuki huffed. "I don't trust this brat, what if someone catches wind of this silly plan of yours? Then what? It would sully your reputations."
"Can it you old hag! That is why we are telling anyone close that we can trust with the truth, to make sure that anyone else believes the pretense. You know you and the rest of our pack will have our backs."
Inko spoke softly. "Izuku sweety, are you sure about this?" She gave him a knowing look, being the only one beside Ochako that knows the truth about his feelings for the blonde.
He smiled at her as reassuringly as he could manage. "Don't worry mom, Kacchan is trying to help me. He wouldn't do anything to cause me harm."
The blond smirked at that. "You can count on me aunty Inko, All Might. I won't let anything happen to the Nerd."
Yagi put a hand on Izuku's shoulder and squeezed gently. "I trust you know what you're doing. Doubt there's anything we could say to change your minds, I know how stubborn the two of you are. Just please don't forget we are here if you need any of us."
Izuku smiled up at his old mentor, now a father. "Don't worry, we'll be extra careful. "
Mitsuki grumbled yet didn't protest any further. "I still don't trust this plan of yours, but I'll support you nonetheless. Don't make me kick your ass Katsuki."
The blond fumed at his sire, expelling cusses at her. The two of them bickering back and forth, everyone else trying to calm the two down.
Lunch continued until goodbyes were said. The two now heading home on the train. "Thanks for helping me Kacchan, I do appreciate it."
The blond put his arm around Izuku's shoulders, hugging him close. "Don't worry about it Nerd. I know you'd do the same for me.
Izuku nodded and smiled at the Alpha, mentally wishing that it wasn't pretending and that he loved him back in that way other than that of a friend.
Izuku had to tell himself that friendship was all he would ever get from the blond. Looking forward to the other side of the train, he squeezed his eyes tight in the hopes to stave off the tears threatening to fall. He had to convince himself to be content that he still had the explosive hero in his life.
He would just need to be happy with that.
