This is a partial rewrite of It's Not the Raptor DNA by SkullsandDuggary. It's a story that's been rattling around inside my skull for the past year or two, maybe more. I really don't think it's a good story for a lot of reasons, mainly how Elise is basically a mary sue at points and how its depection of mental illness ranges from bad to outright offensive imo, but a lot of its ideas are fascinating to me. None of the 'chapters' here will be full ones, just snippits from how I imagine scenes could've gone. Most of these characters are tweaked, but you'll see how different they are through how they act. Hopefully I have the energy to update this past like, one chapter. But who knows.

To set the scene for most of these though, I'll go over how I view the more important characters - mainly Elise and Bridges.

Elise, in this story, is more like a scarred little girl. She struggles with her emotions constantly as she's torn between her human side and her dinosaur side. The latter side disgusts her often, but its something she can't ignore. Dinosaurs as a whole are less intelligent and are more treated as what they are, which are basically just wild animals. They have some level of intelligence, but most of Elise's affection towards other dinos is one sided. As a result she doesn't have much of a relationship with any of them.

She would honestly rather be alone or with her family than be an attraction for the park, but she has to be one, or else they'll put her down. Elise is a slave, more or less. A slave to her own mind, and to the people who love her. She's just a commodity, and she only partially realizes it. Not to even mention the profound trauma, both from what she's done and what's been done to her. As long as the park is still open though, she'll always be an attraction...except to her family. Her family still loves her.

On the other hand, Bridges is the total opposite. He's a completely normal man - maybe a bit unstable, but he's your average business man. He, too, has been through an ungodly amount of trauma, and he uses his position as a CEO who lives on a literal island with dinosaurs to take his anger out on people who he deems worthy of his retribution. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes it isn't. In this AU (can I even call it that?) he still kidnaps Wu, but foregoes the risk of being eaten to just simple torture, to prove a point. He usually doesn't torture people, but he hates Wu a lot. Maybe for personal reasons...?

He isn't whatever he was in the original story. I really don't feel comfortable with writing a character with schizophrenia (which is what I assume the original character was supposed to have?) when I'm not well versed in the subject. And also just because I think making a mentally ill person the villian is like, borderline ableist? No offense to Skulls, I don't think it was intended, but I just don't feel comfortable with it.

Tacet is trickier, I like some ideas around her but I just think she could be more interesting if you gave her time to grow and actually have a personality. Maybe I'll write more about her, she could be interesting...

Overall the story would probably just be darker overall, but would still have a good amount of fluff, just more plot focused.

Lastly, think of this as a tribute. I may not like the original story that much but it's stuck with me, and if the author ever returns (which she might, from what I've heard) then I hope they're fine with me using some of their ideas and trying my own spin on them.

Suggest scenes if you want to? Idk lol
