CHAPTER 34

During those last days in Hope Valle, Rose was not in good health, feeling very tired every day and feeling sick in the morning. Lee tried several times to take her to Carson, but without success, she claimed that she needed to take care of her daughter Bella's clothing store, so Lee looked for Elizabeth and asked for help. If anyone could talk sense into Rose's head, it would be Elizabeth Thorton.

Rosemary Leveaux Coulter! Elizabeth arrived screaming, hands on her hips... A teacher's look, that look that made everyone quiet and without reaction...

Rose with Bella in her arms, just lowered her head and said, I'm fine... it was just something I ate, something that didn't do me any good.

Taking Bella into her arms, Elizabeth pointed her finger towards the street and from afar Lee and Abigail saw Rose walking out into the street with her head down. Elizabeth marching with Bella at her waist behind her, with that fearful teacher look. Philip joined the group and the three burst out laughing. It was a hilarious scene, everyone in the city who passed by the square laughed quietly. Carson and Faith were at the infirmary window watching the scene, for more than thirty days everyone tried to get Rose to consult, but no one could convince her.

Lee even begged, but it was no use and in a matter of minutes Elizabeth was carrying her in her hands, like a child, Faith was laughing so much that her jaw was already going crazy.

When he entered the infirmary, after greetings, Carson saw Elizabeth point to the bed and give her a hard look. Faith and Carson held back from laughing, when Rose, without saying a word, obeyed...

After the exam, to the great surprise of everyone, except Elizabeth, who had a smile of victory on her face, there was confirmation that a new Coulter baby was arriving in Hope Valle and it wouldn't take long, at most another five months. This news was received by the entire city, which received it with great emotion. Elizabeth knew that her baby would also have a new friend there, they would be raised together.

It was a great night of celebration, Elizabeth danced with Bill, Henry, Carson, and Lee, but whoever she wanted to be in her arms had not invited until now. It was okay. After all, he was in uniform with the other five mountie students and had not danced with any woman. She noticed their looks and only a small smile they exchanged. When the last song was announced, she felt a hand on her shoulders, without a word they went to the center of the dance floor and there they danced in a way, a total surrender, in which everyone, even those who were dancing, were walking away and everyone was amazed at the couple, and they were well... They were surrendered to a different world, a world only theirs, eyes in the eyes, lightness in the feet, subtlety in the touches of the hands and love, a love so great that I saw it in those looks.

Lee, Bill, and Abgail looked at each other, once again and they were witnessing Jack's strength and love there in that couple. It was a cruel doubt, which needed to reach the great truth, for the good of all.

At the police station, Hickman stayed with the prisoners, so that today all the soldiers were at the party. On several occasions, Hickman noticed Charles and William making plans for Elizabeth and laughing at their situation? "BUT WHO WERE THEY?" "WHY WERE THEY ENJOYING THIS SITUATION?" "THEY SPEAKED QUIETLY THINKING HICKMAN DIDN'T UNDERSTAND..." But the next day he would have a conversation with Bill, no one spoke like that about Elizabeth! Not even that so-called father...
