It wasn't long before news of Green's eggs had spread through the base. While most bots had no interest, others were eager to see the babies when they hatched. Some wanted to see the eggs, but Prowl had thought that too many visitors would upset Green, and truthfully, he didn't want a dozen bots crowding into his quarters, so he had only allowed a select few to see the 'nest'.

"They look cool!" Sideswipe said, crouching down to get a better look at the speckled eggs. Green hopped up onto his shoulder, knowing Sideswipe always carried a treat that would interest her. Sideswipe opened his storage compartment and pulled out a rust stick, giving it to the flyt. They weren't exactly the healthiest treat for bots or flyts, but an occasional one wouldn't hurt.

"When are they gonna hatch?" Sideswipe asked, petting Green as she munched on her treat.

"Jetfire says eight to ten days". Prowl answered.

"You gonna keep 'em?" Jazz asked.

"I don't have time to take care of that many flyts".

"Well, I'll ask around". Jazz said. "I know a few guys who might be interested".

"Let us know when they hatch!" Moonracer said, walking out of Prowl's quarters with Sideswipe.

"Guess Green sure surprised you!" Jazz said.

"Yeah", Prowl said as Green flew up onto his shoulder.

"Well, I'd better get goin', too". Jazz said, heading for the door. "See ya".

Prowl took one more look at the box of eggs before he got ready to go on patrol. Was it his imagination, or did one of them move?

A few days later, the eggs still hadn't hatched. Prowl went to check on them during his breaks, and if he wasn't able to go do it, he had his twin brother, Bluestreak take a look. He knew better than to ask Smokescreen.

Then, late one night, Prowl walked into his quarters, having just finished his shift on monitor duty, when he became aware of a small, chirping sound. Walking over to the closet, he found Green perched on the side of the box, where one of the eggs was slowly cracking open.

"Looks like I'm just in time". Prowl said, scratching Green under the chin.

The little egg wobbled, and soon a small beak began to stick out of the shell. In another minute, the shell had broken completely, and a tiny green flyt popped its head out.

Prowl carefully reached his hand out to the baby, completely in awe of the tiny creature. The flyt slowly sniffed Prowl's outstretched hand, then a tiny tongue stuck out to taste it. Prowl chuckled as the baby hopped out of the broken shell, looking around at the strange new world surrounding it.

Green had been a little older of course, but the tiny flyt was reminding Prowl of when he had first got her, a small fledgling that a Voin had been wanting to get rid of.

Soon, another egg began to hatch, then another. Within minutes, the other five eggs were beginning to crack open.

Soon, the box had six, tiny, chirping flyts.

Prowl wasn't sure why he kept sitting here on the floor, watching the newly hatched creatures with such fascination.

Green stretched her neck down to sniff her new babies, giving a low chirp. Prowl quietly stood and rubbed her head, deciding to leave the new family alone for a while.

"Oh my gosh! They are so cute!" Moonracer gushed the next morning, when Prowl had invited her, Bluestreak, Jetfire, Jazz and Sideswipe to see the new babies.

"What are they?" Jazz asked.

"Four boys and two girls", Prowl answered proudly.

Sideswipe stuck his hand into the box, giving a laugh when the flyts began nibbling his fingers.

Moonracer bent down to pick one of them up, a very active one. "Oh, they're just darling!"

"You want one?" Prowl asked.

"Well, not for myself", Moonracer answered. "But a friend of mine has been talking about getting a pet for her youngling. I'll ask if she wants one".

"They'll be ready to leave the nest in a week or two". Jetfire said. "Unless you've decided to keep them".

"I can't take care of seven flyts". Prowl said, even though the thought of keeping all of them had crossed his mind. But he knew it would be better for the flyts to have homes of their own where they would get the individual attention they deserved. Prowl took a piece of Skitter and held it up. Green took the food and flew back to the box, giving it to her babies. Prowl smiled as the tiny flyts each ripped off a piece of Skitter for themselves.

"Look at 'im, he looks like a proud papa, don't he?" Jazz said, elbowing Prowl in the side.

"I'm just glad everything turned out okay". Prowl said, rubbing his side and changing his expression to a neutral one.

"We should probably leave her alone with them for a while". Jetfire said, watching Green begin to groom the young flyts.

Prowl gave Green a pat on the head before following everyone out of the room.

As the days went by, Green was spending less time at her 'nest' and more time on her perch, waiting for Prowl to finish work. And the babies were becoming more active, testing their wings by flying out of the storage unit and perching themselves on anything they could find, including Prowl. He had woken up several times to find one or all of them perched on his chest. Of course, the young creatures were also beginning to get into some trouble, like carrying off datapads or chewing on things they shouldn't.

As much as Prowl hated to admit it, it was time to start looking for homes for the chicks.

"Leave it to me!" Smokescreen said when Prowl mentioned his plans for rehoming the baby flyts. "We'll have homes for them in no time!"

A few days later, Prowl and Smokescreen sat in MacCadam's with the box of flyts.

"What makes you think anyone in here would want a pet?" Prowl asked.

"Just let the master help you out, huh?" Smokescreen said. He then turned his attention to a couple that was walking nearby. "Excuse me!" Smokescreen jumped to his feet, waving to the couple. "How would you guys like a baby flyt?"

"Baby flyt?" the femme repeated.

"No thanks", the mech with her said, then he started to lead her away.

"Don't say no before you take a look at 'em!" Smokescreen said. He took one of the boy flyts out of the box and held him under the nose of the mech. "Look at him, pretty cute, huh?"

"I -"

"Look at him!"

The mech took a step back as Smokescreen continued to shove the flyt under his nose.

"He's adorable!" the femme said, reaching for the baby. "Oh, let's take him!"

"Sure, okay, fine". Her companion said, eager to get away from Smokescreen.

"The first satisfied customers!" Smokescreen said, rubbing his hands together as the couple walked off, the femme gushing over her new pet.

"Don't you think you were a little forceful?" Prowl asked, dropping a piece of Skitter into the box for the remaining flyts.

Smokescreen gave a huff. Then, he ran outside when something caught his eye. Prowl watched out the window as his brother stopped a femme walking down the sidewalk with her two younglings. Judging by the excited actions of the younglings and the handshaking of Smokescreen and the femme, another baby had found a home. Smokescreen ran back into MacCadam's and scooped one boy and one of the girls out of the box.

"One for each of 'em!" Smokescreen said, running back outside.

Prowl watched out the window as Smokescreen handed a baby to each of the younglings and they happily followed their mother down the sidewalk. At the rate Smokescreen was working, the remaining three fltys would have new homes in no time.

An hour later, Prowl and Smokescreen were walking back to the base, having rehomed the rest of the babies, each of them becoming the beloved pets of three younglings. Prowl was glad all of Green's babies had homes of their own, where they would get tons of love and attention, but he couldn't help missing them a little.

Smokescreen, noticing his brother's downcast mood, gave him a slap on the back. "Chin up, bro! Think of how many bots have their own Green to love!"

"Your right", Prowl agreed.

That night, Prowl walked into his quarters after finishing his shift of monitor duty. With a delighted chirp, Green flew from her perch and landed on Prowl's shoulder, giving his face a lick.

"It's good to see you, too". Prowl said, rubbing her head. "And tomorrow, we're going to get back to your training, okay?"

Green gave a chirp, then opened her mouth wide, demanding her usual evening Skitter.
