Hello again puppers, chapter 3 is here, which is weird since last night I was working on chapter 5 but that just means more for you to look forward to on a semi-consistent basis I hope, enjoy

GOW - Konosuba

Chris was always excited to see reincarnated heroes, though the arrivals have lowered significantly since Aqua became Kazuma's cheat item the fact that two people came at once was a great thing for the sake of Belzerg, of course, she did receive news that Kana might cause some trouble, but that's what was good about helping people start out, she could judge the girl for herself.

Then of course came the interesting part, both of these girls seemed to know Kazuma, or at least be looking for him. But Kazuma never had anyone back from his own home that he mentioned wanting to go back to, no one that cared about him according to what he said, corroborated by the information given by her superior.

So who were these girls and how did they know her helper?

"So what kind of quest are we going on?" Sumi asked.

"We're starting out so probably something simple, like slime killing or goblin hunting," Kana said with a shrug,

'So Kana has some idea of RPG games' Chris thought to herself.

"Gosh no, slimes are much too high-level monsters for new adventurers to be fighting, they resist most attacks and do a lot of damage to those that they catch." Chris said, after all, it would be better for these two to know that now instead of finding out by being killed, "I've actually taken on two beginner quests for us today, a small group of Goblins has been sighted in the area so they guild wants them taken out, on top of that the Giant toads have been getting restless again since they keep being disturbed so their kill quest has been extended." Chris explained.

"I see, which one are we going to take on first?" Kana asked.

"We'll split the quest up, we need to kill five toads and at least seven goblins, we can kill any toads we find on the way and then clean up the rest on our way back," Chris explained, her companions agreed and took a look at the gear they recently acquired, since Chris took care of the entry fee they were able to invest in some better gear and have some more saved up, Kana found a simple spear that she was excited about, testing out jabs and cuts with the guild's training dummies along with light leather pads for her arms and legs to give her some extra protection and gloves to help her weapon grip and punches, Sumi, on the other hand, decided to buy a basic sword and a more full body set of leather armor, the chest plate was hidden under the shirt she was reincarnated in but the protection would still be there for her thankfully.

"That'll give us 12 total enemies to collect bounties on." Sumi pointed out.

"That it will, since you girls are new I'll take the extra goblin's bounty and let you each take a two-frog bounty since it's more, but any loot we find and the overall reward we're still splitting," Chris said, she had enough money to herself after all and she might as well make a good first-time impression to these new heroes, hopefully, they let her keep some of the dignity Kazuma hasn't stolen from her yet.

"Frogs are worth more dead than goblins?" Kana asked.

"Typically yea, Goblins are more of a problem in a group that's why they have low individual bounties and greater reward bounties as a whole, plus the meat from the frogs gets sold back to the guild and becomes a delicious meal on top of keeping people and livestock safe," Chris explained.

"I see, so the rewards systems for quests are based not on monster threat, but the benefit of killing it?" Sumi asked.

"Basically, though most powerful monsters still have high bounties placed on them by local lords or in extreme cases the royal family, no one is going to pay for something to be hunted down if there isn't a reason to," Chris confirmed.

"Makes sense I guess, need someone to be willing to pay for you to kill stuff otherwise what's the point," Kana said before the ground shook and a toad came into sight.

Kana and Sumi tightened their grip on the weapons in their hands, they had a beginner's stance and Chris could easily tell that they didn't know how to properly distribute their weight.

That was fine thought, they weren't using blunt weapons so damaging the frog would be easy enough and Chris could always save them if something went wrong.

"Welcome to your first fight girls," Chris said with a smug smile, she enjoyed being a tutorial NPC as Kazuma would undoubtedly put it if he knew about this pass time, but she could feel her heart pumping as two new adventures took their first steps into this epic quest before them. "Giant toads aren't too hard to deal with, they use their tongue to swallow their prey whole which normally includes livestock and farmers but when being hunted adventurers occasionally substitute a meal for them. They used to only come out as a problem during mating season, but recently a mage has been messing with their sleep schedule so they've been hanging around and spending more time being active. If this one does end up getting a hold of one of you then it'll stop moving while it digests you slowly."

"Piece of cake, bitch will take point you've got the most armor and less reach than me so you'll be safest, I'll stay a step behind to stab it with my spear and if we get into trouble flat chest can swoop in with that knife," Kana said, Chris had to bite her tongue at that remark.

"If you could ease the use of nicknames until you find less repulsive ones that would be much appreciated," Sumi said with gritted teeth.

"Just get a move on bitch, and circle around us flat chest." Kana said.

"Okay that tears it! You know how offensive that is for you to tell a young woman like myself! It's not like I chose how endowed I was!" Chris shouted, through her tears she noticed the girls pale, turning around the rouge could see a second toad somehow managed to appear, and was almost on top of her.

'Oh shit' the disguised goddess thought as a tongue wrapped itself around her waist and dragged her into the mouth of a beginner monster.

Kazuma let out a small smile at the road ahead, the girls were all asleep in the carriage behind him while he kept the horses moving at a steady pace. With Aqua's insistence that they get home soon Kazuma decided to keep them moving through the night, a feat he was able to achieve by using his drain touch skill to give some of Darkness's stamina to the horses so they could keep a light pace through the night.

By his calculations they would arrive home by mid-day, plenty of time to go drinking with Dust and Keith and make it back to the succubas cafe for long overdue stress relief, though his traveling with his useless party members wasn't a problem this time, Megumin continued with her daily explosions as always but she did them with pride and passion are clearly seen as none of them ranked below average since they left the front lines. Darkness kept up her perverse comments at times, but without any monsters and upon the relaxed atmosphere of the trip she had less ammo to keep firing off her mouth, even Aqua wasn't being too much of a pain, there was nothing to get her into trouble around here so she simply kept up the over-eager child routine.

Honestly, Kazuma could almost consider this a normal party, that he was a real hero in one of his games fighting monsters with good friends, and in Megumin's case maybe something more sometime soon, after she got her head straight then he'd go for it without a doubt.

His lips curled up at the thought of finally finding love out in this no-good world, but soon enough in the absence of others to keep his attention, and with love in the brain his mind went back to his original world, too the childhood sweetheart who drove him to the state that he died in a pathetic accident that his own parents found amusing.

It'd be okay though, he was rich and famous, lived in a mansion with three no-good party members that he wouldn't trade for anything, an adorable little sister who happened to be the princess, worked part time night shifts for a real goddess, and most of all he had people to fight for in this world.

Turning his head back he saw the girls in their pajamas sprawled out and sleeping, the worthless front liner who could only absorb damage and always kept them safe, the explosion-crazed maniac who would stand up for him in a heartbeat if needed, and a lazy drunken self-proclaimed goddess who made sure to bring up the mood anywhere she went, and who was arguably his best friend in this world.

Yeah, this world wasn't too bad.

Sumi wouldn't say she was the proudest of how their quest went the day before, sure they managed to save Chris and do the rest of the quests without too much problems but Kana was still abrasive and unpleasant to be around, having decided to take control of the makeshift party and that meant Sumi would be bait which was less than desirable to say the least.

Thankfully the quest went well and now the girls were off to meet with Chris again who offered to give them a tour of the town, after they buy her a drink at the pub.

Since neither girl knew their way around town, nor did they want to meet Kazuma second to the other, they still traveled together.

'Once I find my knight in shining armor everything will change, I'll finally find out how this barbarian knows him, I doubt he'll want to keep her around but I suppose I can tolerate her for him if he does want her around, but we'll have a wonderful reunion, and I'll happily pledge myse- my sword! To his needs, of course if he wants something more then who am I to say no to my hero, why he'll probably see me and instantly sweep me off my feet!'

"Hey,"

'Could that have been why he saved me from that dastardly truck? Did he simply see simple me and fall in love in an instant, then seeing my peril my knight leapt into action and sacrificed himself for me?

"Are you listening?"

'Or is my knight simply so pure of heart that he saw danger about to befall a young maiden and he rushed into action? Then upon our reunion we may fall in love and slay the Devil King together, I'll wish for us to always be together, oh we won't need a wish for that he can have mine I'm sure he'll have a wonderful idea that I cannot fathom,'

"Hey bitch!" Kana called, a fist slamming into Sumi's back took her out of the day dreaming the girl found herself in prior, Sumi chose to ignore the heat on her face and face her rude companion.

"Apologies i was off in my head, was there something you required?" Sumi asked.

"yea, we're at the guild, where were we supposed to meet Chris." Kana snapped.

"She told us to get a booth and that she'd be here early in the afternoon, although her timing was vague it allows us time to get lunch." Sumi replies.

With a grunt Kana found a table somewhat close to the entrance so they could see when the silver haired thief appeared.

It took little time for a waitress to arrive and the girls to order some fried frog legs and salads, a delicacy Chris told them about and something Sumi was eager to try along with a light starter sounded lovely especially with the work they put in hunting frogs the day prior.

Sumi decided against letting her thoughts wander again, instead she took the time to let her gaze wander among the people, adventurers were taking up room all through the room mostly drinking or eating but a few were standing around the receptionist table, some also, like a tall blonde in a beautiful silver breastplate and a yellow dress with a black undersuit peaking out, were looking at the quest board. Sumi also noticed another new entrance from a child in a red outfit with a big hat a black choker and an eye patch. She was mostly noticeable with everyone scooting away from her as discreetly and as fast as they could, it didn't work out and the child looked angry upon noticing, making Sumi wonder if she should call the poor girl over. Before she was given the chance a beautiful blue haired woman wearing a dark blue dress entered and grabbed her by the arm dragging her off to one of the tables.

"Come on Darkness we got a table! We just did a big quest so let's have a big meal and some nice bubbly to celebrate." The blue haired woman yelled through the guild hall. The girl who was looking at the quest board shook her head and made her way over to where those two were, they must be party members, Sumi thought.

Not long after the three sat down Kana and Sumi's food showed up and Chris entered the establishment, the thief took stock of the people inside and smiled, before Sumi or Kana could call to her another voice spoke up.

"Chris! I didn't know you were in town, come and join us we just got back from the front lines." The blonde, Darkness if the blue haired girl was to be believed, calling the thief to walk over to that table.

"Hey Darkness, I didn't know you guys were getting back today. I have some plans to show some new girls around town but we'll definitely catch up after." Chris said, gesturing to the girls in question causing Sumi to wave politely.

"Oh great we got new girls in town." The blue haired girl said with a smile giving the two a friendly wave.

"Another chance for our party leader to harass the innocent." The girl in red said solemnly, Kana and Sumi tensed at that line, before anyone could say much more though the door opened again.

"What are you saying about me this time? Are you trying to slander my name again? Don't make me have to give you a beat down." The new arrival said, Kana and Sumi stilled. They recognized him, he may not be wearing the green tracksuit coated in his own blood from when she last saw him, but that face was the exact same she'd seen in her dreams and nightmares every single night since.

Kazuma Satou was right in front of her.

And he turned to look at them.
