The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
Kata'nu would often shift his gaze from the area around them back to Julie.
He could see she was pretty awestruck by the sight. But then, their planet was revered as very beautiful. Many of its views could make some of the most beautiful ones on Earth, pale in comparison.
Julie could barely tear her gaze from everything going on around her. The place seemed to be really hopping at the moment.
There were many yautja about. Males, females, and kids ranging from all ages. She almost found it hard to tear her gaze from some of the females they have passed.
They were not as built as the males. But they were still taller and had muscle to them. It was also pretty funny to see that most of the males were a good head shorter than the females as well.
She also saw some other type of bipedal alien beings.
Julie frowned, when she noticed many were wearing a collar around their necks. Kind of like the one, Kata'nu tried getting her to wear. But what really got her pissed, was she thought she saw some with shackles around their wrists and ankles.
A few minutes into their walk, she also saw some humans. Both men and women.
But what surprised her most of all, is that they strangely appeared to be happy. In which, she couldn't understand how anyone could be happy here being treated like a servant or a slave.
She saw one woman with a few small yautja kids. They were milling around her and following her about.
Julie watched as the middle-aged woman scolded a youngster from trying to take something off of what looked like a vendor's stand. It was pretty surprising and comical to see.
The little one bowed their head and appeared to have a sorry look on their face as she continued to lecture them.
Apparently, some jobs here for some humans was to be caregivers to their children. Almost like a nanny of sorts from what it looked like to her.
The woman smiled at the child afterwards, before pulling them in for a hug.
Julie was so engrossed with what she was seeing that she didn't realize that she and Kata'nu broke off from the group of humans that were trailing behind them.
Kata'nu still kept his hand on her shoulder.
In usual instances with other servants, there were times the owners would keep a hand on the back of their necks. But something told him, she wouldn't like that.
And he didn't want to make her anymore uncomfortable or upset then she already was due to her current situation.
This was all still very new to her. He knew it will take time for her to adjust. At the same time, it was all new to him as well. He never had a servant before. She was the first for him.
In the past, he never really held an interest in obtaining one. He just never thought he needed a servant or servants.
But this small ooman female caught his interest. And he didn't want to see her be sold off to another. Others may not be as considerate or understanding of her emotional wellbeing or adjustments.
They probably would've just thrown a list of chores at her to do. And she'd have to do them, or else.
Kata'nu was nearly upon a stand of a good friend he grew up with and knew very well. So, he made a slight left in the large dirt road they were walking down, and he made a B-Line for them.
Luckily, he didn't have many customers at the moment.
"Hey, P'kya'uha. How's business going?" Kata'nu asks.
The burly, navy colored yautja turned his attention to him and smiled.
"Hi Kata'nu, everything's good. How was the trip to Earth?" P'kya'uha asks.
"It went well. More so than I thought it would. We got ahold of a pretty decent size group of oomans. Probably more than enough to satisfy the buyers looking to gain some for servant work." Kata'nu told him.
Julie couldn't tear her gaze from the dark colored yautja. Guy was enormous. To the point he made full backs look anemic. Just a solid, brawny wall of rippling muscle.
She tensed up a little, when he shifted his dark green gaze to her. His eye ridges seem to shoot up a little as he regards her and gives her a once over. Before he shifted his gaze back to the reddish yautja next to her.
"You brought back a servant for yourself? Thought you kept saying you never needed one." P'kya'uha said, clearly surprised.
Kata'nu just smirked and shrugged his shoulders.
"What can I say? She caught my attention. She's a very spirited little fighter. With a fiery temper to boot. I call her R'ka-de because of it. But her actual name is Julie." He replied.
The navy colored yautja nodded. Then turned his attention back to the small ooman female.
"Hello, name is P'kya'uha. But may call me 'Py' if wish. Nice to meet you." He said, politely.
Julie was a little surprised the other yautja actually addressed her and seemed to be very polite.
She almost forgot her own manners during the exchange of pleasantries. It took her a few seconds before answering.
"Huh...Hi, I'm Julie. Umm, nice to meet you too." The young woman said.
She was still quite weary of her surroundings and the people. Being in the marines for so long, and she still always seemed to keep her guard up while out in public places. She did this all the time too, when she was home.
He gave her a small nod, then turned back to his friend.
"She seems quite polite and nice. Not very usual to see from new oomans that are first brought here. Normally, they are hysterical or violent." P'kya'uha stated.
Kata'nu chuckled, "Oh, don't let her fool you. She can be plenty violent. Especially, when her temper flares. She actually tried to go for a weapon on my weapons wall when I had it open in my quarters. And she gave a couple good swift, strong kicks to Dachande. Enough to catch him off guard and cause him a little pain."
The navy colored yautja's eyes widened in surprise. His gaze flitted back to her, giving her, another look over before going back to his friend.
"Seriously? But she's so...tiny. I've hunted oomans before a couple decades back. The ones I came in contact with and fought were not nearly as small as her." He said, with a small gesture of his head in her direction.
Julie crossed her arms over her chest and glared in annoyance at the two large males.
"Standing right here you know. I know you two are talking about me. At least have the decency to say it in my own language and to my face. Rather than pretend I'm not here." She retorted.
P'kya'uha reared his head back a little in surprise at her boldness and outspoken attitude. Before he turned his gaze back to his friend still standing beside her.
"You see what I mean yet?" Kata'nu somewhat joked.
Then the burly yautja behind the stand started to laugh.
Though, it seems him laughing just irritated Julie more. She certainly wasn't in the mood right now to be the butt end of anyone's joke. It didn't help when she saw Kata'nu's shoulders shake a little, indicating he was chuckling as well.
She clenched her jaw and shook her head.
"You both suck." She lightly hissed.
"Don't take offense. We were just commenting on that fiery attitude of yours. Many around here are not used to seeing such outspoken and bold humans. At least not from ones who were just brought in. Certainly, makes for a nice change of pace." Kata'nu told her.
The young woman rolled her eyes.
"Well, I'm glad you all find me so entertaining in that sense. Does this mean I'm going to continue being the ass end of all your jokes when meeting new people? Because if so, it's a shitty conversation starter or introduction." She quipped.
"No, Kata'nu's a joker, that's all. You get used to it." P'kya'uha said.
She snorted, "Yeah, I'm well aware he's the very definition of a 'Smart Ass'. Probably have his picture right next to the word and definition in the dictionary."
P'kya'uha laughed again at her remarks. It made him truly understand why his friend chose to have her and didn't auction heer off with the others.
"Won't argue there. Probably right." The navy colored yautja agreed with her.
It was Kata'nu's turn to roll his eyes.
"Well, I guess it's better than being under the definition of asshole or anything else for that matter." He sarcastically replied.
"Nah, Dachande takes up that definition." P'kya'uha joked.
They all grew up together. He knew as well as Kata'nu that the yellow colored yautja can be temperamental at times.
He recalls one poor bastard that was carried off to the infirmary after a bout of sparring with Dachande. He was a younger and cocky warrior who was dumb enough to make a jibe, stating his temper was as short as his prick.
That remark landed him with a broken jaw and some bashed in ribs.
Kata'nu couldn't help but nod in agreement.
"Yeah, can't help but agree with you there. He certainly can be. But still is a good warrior and hunter like the rest of us." He replied.
P'kya'uha went to say something else. Until he noticed a small group started heading over to his fruit and vegetable stand.
"Well, I have people coming. It was nice talking with you. Hopefully, I'll see you soon. Save me a spar, next time we find ourselves on the training grounds." He stated.
Kata'nu nodded, "Will do. I'll see you around, P'kya'uha."
Before they left, the navy colored yautja picked up a couple musar fruits. He handed one to Kata'nu and one to Julie.
She was a little surprised by the offer but took it with a nod and a thank you. Despite the fact that she didn't know what it was. Though by the texture and the sweet smell coming from it, she gathered it could be food.
"Take these, on the house." He said.
"Thanks." Kata'nu replied.
When his eyes shifted to Julie, they lit up in amusement when he saw her bring it up to her face and sniff it. While eyeing it cautiously.
Even P'kya'uha got some amusement out of it, before turning to assist the group of four yautja that came to his stand. They were regulars of his and usually knew what they wanted.
"Ready to move on?" He asks her.
Julie nodded, "Sure."
Her eyes shifted back to the object in her hand.
"What's this?" She asked, as they resumed their walk through the large market area of town.
The object in question, looked like a gigantic plum. It was the same color as a plum and had a similar texture to one as well. It was slightly bigger than a softball.
"It's called a musar fruit. Very sweet and juicy. You'll like it." He assured her.
'Well, it certainly sounds good. And I'm pretty hungry because I didn't eat much of breakfast this morning.' She thought.
Julie brought the fruit up to her mouth and took a bite.
A sweet, yet tangy flavor erupted in her mouth. And as he stated, it was quite juicy. Kind of like a peach would be. But it was very good. And she happily munched on the fruit as they continued on.
The young woman continued looking around at all the places they have passed. While some stands or indoor places sold a variety of foods, others sold some other various goods.
She saw some places that appeared to sell furs, jewelry, and clothing.
Kata'nu's worries for her started to dwindle as he continued observing her from out of the corner of her eye. He didn't miss the faint smile fighting to take up space on her face as she looked around while munching on the musar fruit.
It may be a different story, once he brings her to his home.
But for now, he will let her have this time to enjoy what his world has to offer. Hopefully, this was a precursor to how things will eventually go for her as she lives here.
Until Next Time ;)
