After the summer ended, they met the Weasleys and Granger, while guided by Lucius and Narcissa. "Now we wait on Praxis." Narcissa decided it was now or never and asked Harry to go with her to a more private area. Harry did so, and when Narcissa made sure no one could hear she asked, "Harry, Lucius and I are thinking about adopting you. We want your input, would you mind Lucius and I being your parents?" Harry smiled, "I'd love to be your kid, miss." "Excellent, I'll tell Lucius. Next summer, you will be a Malfoy."
Harry and Narcissa met up with the rest of the gang, to see the Praxis and Granger has now joined. When the adults departed, Ginny joined the Malfoy gang while Granger and Ron looked at her in disgust. Fred and George looked at Harry with deep suspicion in their eyes, "Bye baby sister." "Try not to marry without us." Fred shed a mock tear, before Ginny hurried her new friends into a compartment, which soon had another companion, Luna Lovegood. Praxis spoke of the elephant in the room, "Didn't Ron make Granger cry last year and come close to bullying? Why are they hanging out now?" Ginny answered, "Ron apologized to her about the troll. They slowly became friends. I don't know what happened at school last year. Granger likes Ron, so all is made up." Ginny shrugged. "Though Ron is disgusted with her accusing Harry of lying." "I feel sorry for her." Harry expressed his sympathy, "She was raised by muggles. And muggles are happy to say abuse didn't happen. She's only doing as she was raised."
Harry remembered the constant detentions, being told he was making it up. His magic saved his life, and kept those muggles in line. He noticed they do it to everyone they percieve as diffrent. "Must be part of the image of community." Harry muttered through his anger clenched teeth.
Luna seemed shocked, "Wouldn't you want your community to be together? Even the most bigoted pure bloods will care about muggleborns while they're here to show wizards are united. If it comes to us and muggles, we need to stick together." Harry smiled a wide smile, "Muggles don't see it that way. Only few know we exist. And with those few, we need to be careful." Harry knew how his aunt and uncle would treat Dudley if he was a wizard, "They may be able to prove magic one day. United muggles are more dangerous than one. Poor Granger doesn't realize she is in danger, just by being surrounded by that kind." Harry's snake whispered, "I can protect her." "Do so. Don't let her see you. She may be a little judgemental." Luna petted the snake, "Parselmouth, cool." "Thanks." Harry smiled at the compliment, "I told the snake to protect Granger, while not being seen."
Once they arrived, all the second years and ups sat at their respective house tables. Harry's gang and the Weasley's were anticipating what house Ginny and Luna will be in. Ron hoped Ginny and Luna would be in the same house, but he wasn't sure if that would mean Ginny would be a Gryffindor. Ron's thoughts were confirmed when the hat shouted, "RAVENCLAW!" for Luna. He supposed Ginny had ravenclaw qualities, if that is where she wants to be.
Ginny was finally called to the sorting hat, and she felt a mixture of relief and anticipation when it was placed on her head. "Another Weasley, there's a lot of you. I see you aren't sure of following your family's tradition of Gryffindor.
Well, let me give you pros of Slytherin. You like that Malfoy boy as a friend along with Moon. He's not like his father, if you were asked. You are ambitious, you want to prove you are not being spoiled because you are the only girl. Slytherin will help you in that regard." Ginny nodded. Slytherin was fine and it would make standing out a tad bit easier, especially with a Malfoy by her side. Lucius would never deny his son anything, even if it came down to letting his son hang out with a blood traitor. "Yes, you truly belong in..." The hat now yelled, "SLYTHERIN" out loud.
The great hall was silent. Even the teachers forgot to clap. It took a minute for people to process a Weasley was in Slytherin. Ron broke the silence and started clapping, "accidentally" elbowing the family he had beside him, prompting them to clap too. Harry figured out what he was doing and started clapping, soon the applause filled the room, even among the shocked Slytherins.
Ginny sat beside Draco which made Ron near yell about how Draco's dad is a death eater, before George preemptively placed his hand over Ron's mouth. "We have to wait and see." Percy whispered in Ron's ear. "I'm wondering too." Was his sister a bigot? He couldn't take it if she was? He hoped she was sorted on ambition instead of morals alone. If it was morals, she will not be the person he hoped she was.
After the sorting, Harry separated from Luna so the first years could go to their common room alone. Before they parted, Harry advised her to join his clubs. "You can help out in the wizarding traditions club."
Ron stared at his sister as she was left behind. Slytherin was fine, he was sure Ginny was the person he grew up with and he will kill his brothers if they imply otherwise. It was just that her friendship with Malfoy was odd. He expected her to befriend Potter, it isn't Potter's fault he never met a good muggle. Although Ron was wondering if there was one after Granger's accusation. How dare someone accuse someone of faking abuse? Too much goes unnoticed, maybe Granger was raised to do that, and if she was, he needed to be her guide. It's not her fault she never had a good influence in her life.
He didn't know if Malfoy Draco hated muggleborns or not. He did befriend Thompsan and he was a muggleborn. Thompson is 100% a muggle name. He's the only Thompsan in the wizard world. So maybe the youngest Malfoy isn't as bad as he thought. Ron decided he would meet him before classes the next morning.
