Following Cho's departure, an uncomfortable silence washed over the common room where the young Malfoy remained seated on the midnight blue couch, the silence was deafening, feeling like it was screaming at him from every corner of the common room. Without Cho's presence Draco now freely let his tears fall. A dark mass forming from where his tears escaped his silver orbs and fell to the oak flooring.
Too much of a coward to apologize, and too arrogant to apologize, the young Malfoy resigned himself to accepting that he had alienated the one person who had shown him kindness in Ravenclaw. The guilt was too much for the young Ravenclaw to handle, gnawing away at him, chipping away at the cold, hard exterior he had constructed as a suit of armor to protect himself.
Suddenly a hand bolted and took hold of the young Malfoy's. "Arghh Edgecombe !" Draco begun, shock and indignation coloring his voice, "Unhand me NOW".
"NO, not until you tell me what you've done to CHO", Edgecombe spat, her tone oozing venom.
The young Malfoy remained silent too much of a coward even in the face of Edgecombe's wrath.
Edgecombe continued thundering "Cho hasn't said a word since whatever you said to her, Cho's too good to be feeling this way over someone like you so just please fix it".
Edgecombe exited, storming out of the Tower, the sounds of her footwear making contact with the concrete steps of the staircase echoing throughout the common room.
At night as the young Malfoy lay in his canopy bed, gazing up at the stars, a gruff voice cut through him "Oy Malfoy still stargazing".
Turning to identify the source of a voice, it was a boy a year under him, Michael Cormer he remembered him from the sorting ceremony his head was adorned by a halo of black curls.
"What's it to you Cormer ? ", Draco spat.
"Malfoy everyone's seen how much of a miserable git you've been even more so than usual since whatever happened between you and Chang", Cormer said.
"How'd you-", Draco began.
"How'd I know, the entire house knows Edgecombe won't shut up about it.", Cormer added.
"I don't know how to apologize," Draco said, continuing "Malfoys don't apologize to anyone, father says we're to proper to apologize".
"Well Malfoys had never been sorted into Ravenclaw before and yet here you are", Cormer said.
"Thanks Cormer", Draco said, a small smirk tugging on the edges of his lips.
"Where are you off to ?" Cormer asked.
"To be the first Malfoy to apologize". Draco said, determination seeping through into his tone.
Cormer watched the Malfoy scion's retreating form with an appraising yet approving look in his eyes.
Making his way into the common room, Draco's palms erupted into beads of sweat, when his silver-steel irises darted to the figure of Chang, her hazel orbs locked with the stars of the night sky. Cho looked even more angelic than usual under the moonlight.
"Ch-Chang", Draco began.
Cho whipped her head around her to identify the source of the voice. "Malfoy", she said, frostily.
Inching towards the midnight blue couch she was sitting on and taking a seat besides her, the young pureblood continued "I shouldn't have said what I said to you, you've been the only person who's even given me the time of day since sorting, you didn't deserve it, I'd like to let bygones be bygones and start anew", Draco finished.
Tears now freely falling from his face, Cho placed one hand behind his blonde mane and gently pulled him in until his head was pressed into her blouse pocket, "I didn't think it was possible but you somehow managed to apologize without saying the word's I'm sorry." Cho said, giggling.
His face pressed into her blouse, Cho could make out a string of words, that sounded like he was seeking confirmation on if she had forgiven him. "In case you were wondering yes that means I have forgiven you." Cho confirmed.
After a short while Cho noticed Draco's sobs had grown less and less frequent before coming to a an abrupt stop, darting her hazel irises downwards her eyes widening at the sight of Draco's eyes shut, giggling at the sight of the young Malfoy falling asleep on her, she allowed herself to stay like this for a few moments not entirely disliking the feeling, before shifting so that Draco's entire body was lying on the midnight blue couch, summoning a blanket, she gently placed it over Draco, Cho then made her way to her dormitory casting one final smiling glance at Draco.
