His scowl was deep set, jaw muscles clenched as he loomed above her. "Why are you here?"

Kagome chuckled. "Because you put me here."

"I would never—"

She waved him off after making sure they were alone, then went back to stroking Ah-Un's scales. "It was technically Jaken, but he was pretending to be you."

Pale brows raised in surprise. "You were aware of the deception?"

She snorted, Ah-Un following suit, heads now resting in her lap. "It wasn't that hard." A foreign emotion flashed through his eyes, and Kagome felt her cheeks grow warm. "I take it that doesn't happen that often?"

"You would be the first," he said, leaning against the bars of her cell. "Why did you not inform them as to your station?"

"I couldn't stop laughing long enough to get the words out," she said, chuckling again at the memory.

"Was his characterization that out of place?" he asked. "He prides himself in how much he practices it."

"Well, maybe next time, he should forgo wearing your clothes. Red really isn't his colour."

Youki snapped to attention as his eyes narrowed. "He did what?" She didn't feel the least bit apologetic as she filled him in on what had happened when she'd arrived, the fur of his pelt standing on end by the time she'd finished.

"I assumed you knew," she said. "Didn't you see him when you got back?" Taking his proffered hand, she finally got to her feet, Ah-Un snorting indignantly for being forced to move.

"The dragon greeted me before I even landed." He ran a hand down their necks. "They refused to see reason and practically dragged me down here."
