Chapter 6
Anthony stepped out of the bathroom in his new outfit.
A light blue silk shirt with the top buttons undone, black dress pants, and for the first time Erin noticed he wore a thin gold chain necklace.
Curious, she walked over to him before she went to change and put a light touch on his chest.
He watched her with curious eyes.
She picked up the chain gently to examine it and saw a small gold cross at the end.
She smiled up at him as she tucked it back underneath his shirt.
Anthony felt his heart beating faster having her touch him but said nothing.
"I like that." she said and walked into the bathroom.
He let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding as he heard her start up the shower. He put a hand up and rubbed his face.
It was really hard to restrain himself. All he wanted to do was take her in his arms and kiss her deeply. But Erin had made it clear she didn't want to stay married.
And he didn't know what kind of shaky ground that left them on.
It was confusing to say the least.
Later that evening they found themselves in a classic 1970s vibe disco club.
A mix of funk, soul, and disco house was pumped out by the DJ. New artists with old school vibes.
Erin was thoroughly enjoying herself and Anthony was happy to be a part of her happiness.
Not to mention just to walk in the club with her on his arm. He couldn't keep his eyes off her in that slinky black dress that fit her like a glove.
She had done her makeup up for going out with heavy black eyeliner and mascara. Topping it off with deep red lipstick.
They were swaying to the sexy dance music with lights swirling around them.
The music was so loud there was no chance of talking and Erin was glad for that. She didn't want to ruin their remaining hours in Vegas by saying anything she'd regret.
The music was causing them to move closer and closer together and Erin impulsively wrapped her arms around Anthony's strong neck.
She could see him smile a little bit despite the dimly lit dance floor and flashing lights. He responded by putting his hands gently on her waist.
Time fades
remember the changing lights
so far away from me
the sky shades
so many colors
but wasn't there for me
it's like fantasy
and like a dream to me
and i'm dazed to meet
thinking of you
Slowly his head was moving down towards hers and they danced with their foreheads leaned up against each other.
The song suddenly changed to more of a club house beat.
Erin felt like it was drawing them even closer and Anthony's face was right next to hers.
The world was drowned out around them and all she could focus on was the pulsating music and Anthony's presence. Everyone else in the crowded club faded into the background.
The beat was intensifying and Erin pulled her face back from Anthony's forehead to look at him.
He looked like he was trying to decide what to do and all she wanted was to feel him.
I like the way I feel and I hope you do yeah..
I'm so curious I need to know…
Yeah…
I like the way I feel and I hope you do yeah
I'm so curious I need to know…Yeah
The song spelled out what his thoughts were and Erin pulled him in to bring his lips to hers so he wouldn't have to fight it anymore.
He responded hungrily. Like an animal. He was kissing her with an intensity she hadn't felt fully before.
Her arms were still around his neck and he moved his hands to hold her cheeks as he drank her in.
Erin's face warmed hotly to his touch as he embraced her in such a loving way.
The song was fading into the next one and all of a sudden Erin was overwhelmed with emotion.
It was all too much.
Panting, she broke free and started moving towards the dark hallway where the bathrooms were.
"Erin!" Anthony called after her, pushing through the crowd.
He found her leaned up against the wall with her head in her hands.
"Hey…" he pulled her hands away to look at her face.
Her mascara was streaking as tears were running down her face.
"Erin…hey," he put a thumb to her cheek in an attempt to wipe the tears away.
She looked up at him, her eyes shining.
"Talk to me," he demanded.
"I'm scared, Anthony," she said sobbing.
She looked so vulnerable and sad that he couldn't help himself and pulled her in closely to him for a hug.
She buried her face in his chest.
He held her tightly and murmured near her ear so she could hear him over the club music.
"What are you scared of?"
She sniffled and paused. "I don't want to make another mistake. Like I did before. With Jack."
Anthony felt his blood pressure rise hearing Jack's name. He never deserved Erin and there were times he would have thrown him out the window if Erin had so desired.
He pulled her back for a moment and studied her.
"Look, Erin. You and I are different. I love you…" his eyes were staring at her intensely and Erin listened.
He continued, "I promised to keep and protect you. And I'll do it with my last breath if I need to. I promise I'll always take care of you and treat you right. You might make more money than me…" he said jokingly and Erin smiled slightly. "And I'm ok with that!...But you know what I mean."
She nodded feeling tears come to her eyes again as she realized the depth of this man's love for her.
"Anthony…" she sniffled as she wiped her tears back trying to compose herself.
"Yeah Erin?"
"I don't want a divorce."
She finally spit it out hoping it wasn't too late to finally say it.
She could tell she had shocked him a little bit as his face took a moment to react.
And while he was still speechless she added, "I love you too."
His face lit up like a Christmas tree and he smiled broadly back at her.
He brought her in again for a deep kiss and Erin felt like she was floating.
All the way back to their penthouse suite they snuck kisses in the back of their Lyft ride.
Anthony insisted on carrying her over the threshold.
"I gotta do it proper this time!"
"And sober!" She laughed with him.
His strong arms swooped her up easily and Erin could feel her skin warming up quickly as his hands were on her.
He laid her gently on the bed and kissed her along her neckline while grabbing for her dress zipper.
She helped him unbutton his silk shirt and lifted his wife beater shirt over his head.
She ran his hands over his chest and he pulled her up on top of him.
Their bodies conformed so well together.
In the darkness as he kissed her all over, she whispered, "I feel so safe in your arms."
"I'd do anything for you Erin, you know that."
"Mm hmm," she responded as he moved towards her lips.
He growled softly and held her tightly as they became one…
MORE TO COME…
