Hi Readers: What did you guys think of that last chapter? A bit all over the place, right? Well, I'm here to tell you that this chapter isn't going to be any less different. However, I am not going to be spoiling anything. Let's just get to it and you can see what's up right now.
Chapter Thirty-Three
December 19, 2012 – He had a feeling the night before that his wife wasn't going to be in bed with him when he woke up. And he was right, as she wasn't in bed with him when he woke up. Rather, she was taking some time to think elsewhere; alone, where she could think through all the news that they got yesterday at their first OB/GYN consultation/appointment. The first time they really got a chance to see their future, the future that they would have as parents. And now that they have an ultrasound, it seems even more real; especially for Matt who is finally certain that he's going to be a dad. He's going to be a father this summer, all thanks to his beautiful wife; the beautiful wife who was a bit nervous because of what they learned yesterday, which is what led to the both of them taking a nice bath with each other this morning. A bath that was really doing Alex some good as it allowed her to relax and just take it easy right now, which is what she needs to do now that they know her pregnancy is high-risk, which is worrying for Matt.
Then again, he was always going to be worried for Alex while she was pregnant. But now that they know how many children she's pregnant with, that's even more true. And now you see the reason why Alex is so worried, or at least you should as it's clearly obvious, at least to the father that it's due to the fact that the couple aren't just expecting one child; rather, they are expecting twins. Two children that they can love and cherish for the rest of their lives, and that was why Alex was nervous right now and trying to relax in the bath of their home in California; the home where she might as well be stuck for a while. "Sorry that I haven't been talking much." Smiling as he finally heard his wife's voice, Matt wrapped his arms around her and pressed his lips to her forehead. "Hell, you've been quiet since we watched all of those movies last night; you didn't even want to have sex to celebrate." Alex agreed with her husband, while also taking a breath as she didn't know whether she was really in a celebrating mood. "Not sure if I'm in a celebrating mood."
Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case due to the fact that she was being so quiet, which is why they're in the bath in the first place as he hoped that them being in the bath with each other would allow her to feel like she can open up to him. "I was secretly hoping that you being here in the bath might make you feel better, make you feel like you can talk to me." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. I mean, of course he's going to think that way. He's going to think that she's going to want to talk to him as they hold each other close here in the comfort of their bath, and she truly means comfort when she says that as it's really nice that they're here in the bath with each other; she's very comfortable and oh so happy to be in the bath with her husband. "Yeah, I like this. It's very comfortable and exactly what I need right now. I just need to take it easy with my husband as we hold each other close and take it easy." Matt agreed as he ran his hand up and down her back right now.
After which, he turned his head and pressed his lips to her forehead while they both held each other close here in the comfort of their bed. "Well, on the bright side; our niece is two months today." Alex smiled, as that most certainly is true. Sacha Jacobs, her brother's daughter, just turned two months today. "I still can't believe that me and Sacha share a birthday, best birthday gift in the entire world." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked down at his wife. "Just wait, next year's birthday gift is going to be even better." Alex looked up at her husband as he told her that, not sure what he meant; that was, until she saw him smirk. "Oh, you mean the sexy time that I'm going to get with you again." Matt agreed as he bent down and kissed his wife. "Not just that, but because it's going to be your first birthday as my wife, as well as your first birthday as a mom." Alex smiled, as that's the case. "God, this is still happening so fast. We just got married less than three weeks ago, and we're already expecting twins." Matt agreed with his wife as he held her close.
As he held her in his arms and tried to make her feel better, even though he knew that she was worried. "Just to let you know, I am more than ready to do whatever you need to take it easy for your entire pregnancy. Whatever you need me to do, just tell me and I will do it for you like the dutiful husband you know I am." Turning her head, Alex smiled as she slipped up his chest and leaned in to kiss him softly; after which, she put her hand on his chest and smirked as she started to take things nice and slow with the man she loves. The man who soon moved his hand to her neck and just started to take things nice and slow with her, only for them to be disturbed by his phone. Sighing as he pulled away from the kiss, Matt watched as Alex cuddled up to him again; meanwhile, he reached down and wiped his hand on the towel he had on the ground. Grabbing it, he took a breath and went to see that it was his sister. He then went to answer it. "Hey, what's up Christie?" Christie sighed. "Sorry, it's work related. Budget stuff." Matt agreed.
After all, he had a feeling that this was going to happen sometime. "What is it Christie?" Christie sighed. "I just crunched the numbers for the budget next year. The numbers that we need for the foundation is short $28 million." Matt sighed as he thought about it. "Did you already take out the University of Notre Dame and University of Florida scholarships? We decided to terminate those since we aren't really in those states much, and they aren't really giving us graduates. Meanwhile, we have contracts with the University of Illinois and the University of California. They give us deals with stuff. The manpower we get with students, remember? And then we need to remember that we only take out 10% of our income. So, I get around $230 million this year I think." Alex was surprised. "$230 million!" Turning his head, Matt agreed with his wife as he kissed her forehead softly. "After." Alex agreed with Matt as she cuddled up to him again here in the comfort of their bath, while Christie spoke to her brother about the changes that she just made.
After all, that changed things. "Thanks Matt, I didn't even think about how we reduced one of the scholarships. Well, that means that we have a bit more income coming in. But damn, maybe you need to give me another 10%. I mean, your shares are worth over $2 billion!" Matt laughed. "We'll see what I can do. We need to do it slowly and figure things out. Plus, do we really want to let Jim be around that much money?" Christie thought about it and agreed. "Don't worry, I'm watching his spending." Matt laughed. "How about you make sure that he doesn't go to Hammond as much! I still remember how I had to bail him out with the reserves once!" Christie agreed with her brother. "I know, and I promise. Now, you and Alex have a good time and we'll talk on Christmas. Sorry, but we've decided to stay here as the weather doesn't look good. Plus, you need time alone." Matt sighed, understanding. "Of course. Talk another time Christie." Christie agreed, hanging up; while Matt set his phone down and rubbed Alex's back, kissing her forehead.
And it was just something about the way that he kissed her forehead, that just told Alex that something was wrong. "Hey, that's wrong baby?" Matt sighed. "Christie and Jim aren't coming for Christmas because the weather doesn't look the best." Alex sighed, well aware that her husband was excited to spend Christmas with his sister and niece. "Honestly, it just seems like we're destined to have Christmas alone this year." Sitting up, Alex looked at her husband as she placed her hands on the back of his head, which led to Matt sitting up as well and placing his hands on her back; after which, he tugged her and their twins against his chest. "I think that'd be nice though. First Christmas as husband and wife, last one before the twins." Matt smirked and agreed with Alex, while also feeling her grab the back of his head as she ran her fingers through his hair. Leaning in, Matt smirked as he kissed his wife and took things slow with the woman he loves. The woman of his dreams. The woman he was making love to here in the comfort of their bath.
She was still thinking about how Matt made love to her in the bath as she finished putting on the lingerie that she was going to be wearing for him today, the lingerie that was very comfortable yet tight around her body; some very sexy maternity lingerie, which she already knew was going to drive Matt crazy. The reason? It showed off just enough skin to turn him on but was tight enough for him to be okay with just running his hands all over it. And that's the only thing Matt plans on doing today, he plans on running his hands all over her body. Her gorgeous, sexy, pregnant body which he already loves the sight of. "Wow." Turning her head, Alex blushed as she looked at her sexy, boxer-clad husband. "Really?" Matt agreed with Alex, as he really liked what he was seeing. "I love it." Alex agreed with Matt, smiling as he made his way over to her and placed his hands on her hips; while she stepped close to him and put her hands on his muscular chest. "Good, because I'm really comfortable in this." Matt agreed with Alex, smiling as he kissed her softly.
After all, that's his first priority. "Good, because that's my first priority. I want to make sure that you're comfortable and just taking it easy as you wear this." Alex nodded, smiling as she most certainly is comfortable as she wears this for him. "Believe me Matt, you have no idea how comfortable this is; especially when we have plans today." Matt agreed. "Oh, and care to share what those plans are?" Alex smirked as she felt Matt pick her up in his arms, while setting her down on the counter. "A whole lot of nothing." Stepping close to his wife, Matt put his hands on her legs; while Alex put her hands on his muscular chest and kissed him softly. A feeling that they both enjoyed, especially not that Alex is pregnant with their first and second child; well, human children. Because they're technically already parents to their two little fur babies, Cassie, and Theo, who are very much interested in being fed this morning. "I think that's my cue to leave." Alex pouted as she heard Matt say that. "Awe, but I liked the idea of you being here with me." Matt agreed.
After all, he feels the same way. Which is why he just stepped close to her, while placing her hand on her neck and kissing his beautiful wife softly. "I love being here with you too, which is what I am more than ready to do. I want to spend the day in bed as we snuggle and just hold each other close, because those are our plans for today. But I am still a dog daddy, which means that I need to do things for our current pets." Alex agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that's the case. So, she put her hands on his face and smiled as she leaned in and kissed the man of her dreams softly. "I love you, and I am so happy that we're pregnant with twins. We're getting the baby we lost back, and the baby you were promised earlier this year." Matt smiled, as that's a great way to look at it. "You know, I never thought to look at it that way. I like that idea babe." Alex agreed with her husband, smiling at her man. "Well, that's how we can think of the twins. One to get the baby you were promised that never was, and one to replace the baby we lost."
Matt agreed with his wife as she told him that, smiling as he put his hands on her arms and leaned his forehead against hers. After which, he started to take things nice and slow with her once more. After all, that's precisely what they both want to do right now. They want to take things nice and slow with each other, as they just concentrate on what matters the most right now; and that would be each other and their babies. "God, I love you so much." Alex smiled and was about to kiss her husband again, until they both heard their little dogs bark at them. Turning his head afterwards, Matt just glared at him which scared the living crap out of Cassie and Theo; something that Alex didn't like as she watched them rush away after Matt looked at them. "Baby, you scared them." Matt agreed with Alex, smirking. "Oh, I did? My bad, must be because I'm addicted to my wife." Alex agreed with Matt, smiling at her husband. After all, that was such a nice way to say that he wants to have her rather than have the dogs disturb them; but she needs something too.
And while she would like it to be her husband in bed, as she's quite hormonal; she'd rather have breakfast first, as she's also very hungry (and can have her husband in bed later). "Listen, I love you Matt. But I think we both know that I need something to help these two little ones grow." Matt agreed with his wife as he put his hand on her stomach, while also leaning in and kissing her once more. "What do you want?" Alex smiled. "I don't care. We could have one of each, but I do like the idea of two boys." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before leaning in and kissing her softly. "I'll see you soon. Just take it easy and get in bed. Today, and until the new year; hell, until I go back to work we relax." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, before watching as he turned around to walk away. But before he did, she jumped down off the counter and slapped that ass of his; something that really turned Matt on, causing him to turn around and look at his wife. "Did you just…" Alex smirked, nodding as she did slap his ass this morning.
Meanwhile, Matt made his way back over to her and put his hands on her sides as he crashed his lips into hers; while Alex put her hands on his face and smiled as she took things nice and slow with him. "God, I love you." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before picking her up in his arms and wrapping her legs around his waist. Meanwhile, Alex cuddled up to him and laid her head down on his shoulder as she got carried out of the washroom; already well aware of where she was going, which was back to bed (or so she thought). Because the truth was, Matt had no intention of setting his wife down in bed; not when he can take her with him instead.
She was out here anyways, so she might as well help out. Help out with the pancakes that they were making as Alex mixed the recipe that they make for pancakes, while Matt got the pan ready for them to use; after all, it goes much faster when you work as a team. "We putting any berries in here? Or are we just going to use a plain recipe?" Walking over to the coffee maker, Matt smiled as Alex asked him that question. "I was going to make some, but you choose; you're the pregnant one with twins. It might be easier for protein." Opening up the cupboard where they keep the coffee, Matt went to grab some for him and Alex. "You want a large or small cup." Alex just looked at her husband. "Baby." Turning his head, Matt realized that. "Oh." Alex smiled and agreed with Matt as she walked over to him and put her hand on his chest, while Matt wrapped his arm around her and leaned in to kiss her softly. "Sorry." Placing her hand on Matt's cheek, Alex shook her head as she stroked it with her thumb. "It's okay. Just take a breath and remember."
Matt agreed with his wife, as he does need to do that. He needs to remember that she can't have caffeine when she's pregnant, or she's not supposed to at least. "Are you okay with me having caffeine then?" Looking at her husband, Alex smiled as she most certainly is. "Go ahead, I mean that. Maybe just make me a tea same time." Matt nodded. "Ginger?" Alex smiled. "Sounds divine." Matt smirked and then went to start making them some tea, while also grabbing the pan and turning it on. "How's the batter going? You need some help?" Alex smiled at her husband. "It's just water, so it should be easy." Matt agreed with his wife, before setting the pan down as he heated it up. After which, he made his way over to her. Smiling, he watched as Alex put the water in and started to mix. "You know, I could get the mixing bowl." Turning her head, Alex went to point at him with the wooden spoon. "No…" But in the process, she threw batter at her husband. "Oh, shit." Matt just looked at his wife as she said that. "Did you just." Alex looked at Matt.
Meanwhile, he went to grab some flour that they have before sending it towards Alex. "No, you didn't!" Matt smirked as he looked at his wife, before grabbing some more and doing it again; after which, Alex went to do the same and started a food fight with your husband. "Oh, you're going to pay for that honey!" Going to grab some of her own flour, Alex sent it towards Matt as they started a food fight with each other. "This is war." Matt smirked as he went to start playing with his wife, which is just a whole lot of fun. Fun that they are both enjoying as they just laughed this morning.
Finally catching his wife after they ran around the house a bit after the food fight, Matt proceeded to wrap his arm around her back and smirked. "Gotcha!" Alex laughed as she heard Matt say that, before watching as he picked her up in his arms; meanwhile, she put her hands on his chest and stared at him. "God, I hate that you're fast." Matt smirked as he grabbed the back of Alex's head, before leaning in and kissing her softly. "I gave you a head start too missy." Moving her legs around his waist, Matt smirked as he put his hands on them and started to carry her back to the kitchen. "Yes, you did, and I appreciate that." Matt agreed with Alex as he leaned in and kissed her again, taking things nice and slow with his beautiful wife as they held each other close. "God, you are so damn sexy when you do this for me." Matt agreed with Alex as he walked through the house, before carrying her into the kitchen where they need to concentrate on making breakfast before it burns. "I need to take it easy and just relax for the sake of the twins."
Matt agreed with his wife as he walked over to the counter, before setting her down so that she can relax. "Yes, that's exactly what you're going to do now missy." Alex agreed with Matt as he set her down on the counter, just smiling due to the fact that she was happy right now. After which, she smirked as she put her hands on his face and leaned her forehead against that of her husband. "I love you." Matt agreed with Alex as she said that. "I love you too, and I loved playing with you like that. It was a lot of fun and exactly what we needed to do." Alex smirked, agreeing with Matt. "Listen, I might go put some sweats on. We need to take it easy and relax." Matt agreed with Alex. "How about you grab me some too?" Alex agreed with her husband, as that's something she can do for him. She can put sweats on and get some for him, which is what she's going to do as she walked away. "Love you babe." Alex smiled, agreeing with her husband. "Love you too." She then skipped away a bit so that she can get dressed (and get him clothes).
Breakfast was ready, and they were dressed, which meant that it was now time to eat, something which Alex is more than ready to do as Matt made his way over to her with their breakfast. "Here we go my beautiful wife, some pancakes for the both of us." Alex agreed with Matt, smirking as she watched him lean over her and kissed her softly. "I love you." Alex agreed with her husband as she put her hands on his face, smirking as she put her hands on his face and smiled as she watched him sit down with her. After which, she went to grab her utensils so that she could start eating. "Thanks for making me breakfast babe." Matt agreed with his wife as he went to grab his coffee, taking a sip. "It's my pleasure." Alex agreed with Matt, while noticing something. That he had bags under his eyes. "Ok. Set that down and look at me." Looking at his wife, Matt smiled. "Everything okay?" Alex then gave him a bit of side eye. "I don't know, you tell me? Or do you have too much baggage under your eyes to tell me that you didn't sleep?" Matt sighed, nodding.
After all, he's just trying to figure out what to say. "I guess, it's just stuff that I need to take in." Alex agreed with her husband, as she knew that he was dealing with a lot; but she could tell that this was related to something more than her. "Can I ask you something Matt?" Matt nodded, as she could always ask him questions. "Always babe, you know that." Alex sighed. "Are you really okay right now? I mean, I don't know if this is the truth; but something tells me that you're still bothered by both the miscarriage…and how you were never pregnant with Hallie. Is that on your mind right now?" Matt sighed as he took a bite, while also looking down. "I guess, just a bit frustrated. We wasted so much time with her. Well, I did. And I could've been with you; and now we have even less time as just husband and wife before we're parents. I know, I shouldn't be mad about that because I want to be a dad more than anything but…" Reaching for Matt's hand, Alex stroked it as she smiled at the man she loves. The man who obviously has mixed emotions.
Mixed emotions that she was here for. "Babe, if you need to talk, then you can talk to me; I promise that you can talk to me, because I want to be here for you as your partner in life." Matt agreed with Alex, taking a breath before sighing. "I guess, it's just a lot to handle. Also, I just heard back from my mom recently." Alex agreed. "Hey, that's great!" Matt agreed. "It's why my sister can't come for Christmas; she's living with my sister." Alex nodded. "Oh." Matt sighed. "And I was going to try and inquire whether we can get her parole transferred to California." Alex looked at Matt. "Oh." Matt nodded. "I know, I should've talked about it with you sooner; but I have a million and one things in my mind. Between the babies, us still being newlyweds, then the company, the move, Christmas, trying to find you the right gift…" Reaching for her husband's hand, Alex intertwined their fingers and smiled at him. "Hey, breathe." Matt agreed with his wife. "I just don't know what to do." Alex agreed with her husband. "I know, it's a lot to deal with."
Turning his head, Matt smiled at his wife. "I'm more than okay with just concentrating on the twins if you want." Alex shook her head, as that isn't what she wants; she wants her husband to have his mother with him for Christmas if she's paroled. "Babe, no. If your mom is paroled; I want her to be with you for the first time in a long time. But maybe, you can contact your lawyer and they can deal with it? Or ask your sister?" Matt sighed as he looked at Alex, before agreeing with his wife, who soon got up and made her way over to Matt, as she wanted to make him feel better. And that's precisely what she's going to do as she walked right up to her husband. The man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "Here, look at me." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling as he leaned back in his chair, while Alex sat down in his lap and wrapped her arm around his shoulders; after which, she leaned in and kissed the man of her dreams. Taking things slow with his wife, Matt smirked. "We are so not staying down here, are we?" Alex shook her head.
"No, we're going back to bed." Matt agreed, smirking at his wife as he watched her get up out of his lap; after which, she walked back over to her chair so that she can eat breakfast with him. "I love you Alex." Alex agreed with Matt, as she loves him too. "I love you too."
