Vesa, Fecto Elfilis, Kirby, Elfilin and Zan Partizanne gathered at the training arena the next day. The human took a moment to adjust her apprentice robes.

"Are you ready?" Elfilis asked their girlfriend.

Vesa gazed into Elfilis's eyes and nodded.

"Let's hope it works this time," she added.

"Well, you should have less issues now," Zan agreed.

Elfilin perched on top of Kirby, both of them watching in anticipation. Vesa closed her eyes and concentrated her mana reserves. In a matter of seconds, she drew the outer and inner circles before adding a water symbol. She took a few more minutes to add in the symbols. By the time she completed it, the spell circle began to glow. When Vesa opened her eyes, she made a brief glance at some withered plants to her left. With a flick of her hand, the spell circle hovered above them. In a matter of seconds, the spell circle began to rain on the withered plants, everyone observing as the plants soaked in the water.

"You've done well," Elfilis told her.

Vesa glanced over her shoulder and smiled at Elfilis.

"Thank you!"

Elfilis placed their hand on Vesa's head.

"I'm considering letting you use a spell book," Elfilis mentioned, "personally, I consider them to be a bit of a handicap. However, they can be used as both a magic focus, and if enchanted properly, it can hold spells and store them for later."

Vesa examined her palms as she thought over the offer.

"I'll think about it," she told them.

Zan Partizanne nodded at Elfilin, compelling the small chinchilla to hop off Kirby's head before floating over to his sibling.

"Well," Elfilis continued, "it's practical to have a focus even if you don't use it most of the time. There are all kinds of focuses that a mage can make use of, ranging from weapons, wands, jewelry and so on."

Vesa simply cupped their face in her hand as she proceeded to brainstorm what she would want. Elfilis purred softly as they shifted their gaze towards their little brother. Elfilin lifted himself off of Kirby, his eyes glistening with curiosity.

"Now," Elfilis told the small chinchilla, "it's time to start your lessons."

Elfilis pulled a book out of their pocket dimension titled "An Introduction to Magic and Magical Theory". The ultimate life-form placed the book down, allowing Elfilin to start reading through the text. The small chinchilla took some time to study the nature of mana reserves.

"Sure seems like an awful lot to memorize," Elfilin commented.

"So you don't have a perfect memory?" Elfilis raised their brow.

"Well," Elfilin clarified with a shrug, "I can remember things, but I don't think it's as perfect and complicated as yours, anyway."

"I suppose that makes sense," Elfilis sighed, "you're only a part of my soul, so it's likely you didn't take much of any of my programming with you. The mind and soul are linked just as much as the body and mind are in most other creatures. But, since you developed your own mind, it seems our connection is lessening and your soul is developing into something new. Eventually, the link between us may be broken and you'll have completed your transition into an entirely new existence."

Elfilin placed his paw behind his head, giving a hint of a sad expression.

"It's a bit weird to think about it sometimes," Elfilin admitted, "in some ways, you're my dad. In some ways, we're the same person. In my own thoughts, I prefer to think of you as a brother. This whole situation is just sad and wacky."

Elfilin went back to studying the book's text. The small chinchilla grimaced as he looked over the consequences of exhausting his mana reserves.

"I gotta admit," Elfilin added, "just not existing anymore once your soul gets overstressed? That sounds really scary."

Vesa knelt next to Elfilin, giving him a pat on the head.

"I was told I would feel it if it ever got to that point," she replied, placing her hand on her chest.

Elfilis began to zone out, staring into the sky.

"It was largely what contributed to my current state and your existence," Elfilis added, "the experiments stripped away my mana and flesh to the point my soul splintered. My soul might've been powerful, as anyone else would've perished in my place."

Elfilin floated up to their older sibling and nuzzled their cheek, purring softly. Elfilis didn't react, however, which worried the small chinchilla.

"Uhh, Elfilis?" Elfilin stammered.

Elfilis simply twitched their tail. Kirby gave a worried expression as he pattered towards the ultimate life-form.

"Poyo?" Kirby called over, waving his arm, "poyo?"

Nothing happened. Elfilis continued to relive their experience in Lab Discovera in their head, expression unchanging. Zan Partizanne approached her sibling while Vesa grasped their hand. Elfilis twitched their tail a little, but not that much. Elfilin sighed and perched on top of Kirby, anxiously waiting over the course of a few minutes. Soon enough, Elfilis blinked as their fur bristled in discomfort.

"S-Sorry about that," Elfilis stuttered, still dazed.

"Elfilis, it's ok," Vesa reminded, "we're here for you, remember?"

Vesa didn't hesitate as she wrapped her arms around Elfilis.

"T-Thanks," Elfilis mumbled.

Elfilis went limp in Vesa's arms, just needing a moment to relax. Zan Partizanne leaned in and gave her sibling a pat on the shoulder. Her other hand clenched tightly on her spear. Elfilin floated off of Kirby. While the pink star warrior stood back, the small chinchilla floated over to Elfilis, circling around them.

Several more minutes passed and Elfilis came back to their senses, returning the embrace Vesa was giving them.

"I think I need to go lie down," Elfilis said, holding their head a little.

"Ok," Vesa agreed.

Zan Partizanne sighed before she picked up the book on the ground. Elfilis wandered back inside with Vesa following close behind. Once they arrived in their room, Elfilis went to lay down on the mattress. Vesa removed her apprentice robes and hung it on a coat rack before she sat next to her partner. Elfilis jumped a little in surprise.

"Ah," Vesa blurted, "I thought you might…want some company?"

Elfilis perked up their feelers slightly.

"I don't mind," Elfilis blinked.

Upon cue, Vesa laid down on the mattress, nestling closer to Elfilis and eliciting a soft sigh out of them. She cupped their face in her left hand, her thumb stroking their soft fur. Her right hand gently stroked their neck mane. The ultimate life-form fidgeted a little. Vesa perched her leg over their thighs, brushing her nose along their muzzle. Their tail softly twitched behind them.

"Elfilis," Vesa whispered.

Elfilis placed their hand behind her head, causing her face to redden. Vesa leaned in and brushed her lips along their mouth. The ultimate life-form purred as they held her close. She gave Elfilis a passionate kiss. They folded their ears around her, their fingers gently running through her hair. She closed her eyes as she rested on top of them. Elfilis let out a surprised squeak, their cheeks reddening.

For a brief moment, Vesa pressed her forehead against Elfilis's. The angelic lancer brushed a few stray locks of hair out of her eyes. She gave them another kiss, their lips locking together. Elfilis let out a soft little mewl, their fur bristling a little yet they eagerly kissed her back. Vesa gasped softly as their large hand brushed along the back of her neck.

"Y-You alright?" Elfilis asked gently.

Vesa gazed into their eyes.

"I'm ok," Vesa assured them, "your hand is just soft."

"I see," Elfilis uttered.

Elfilis gave Vesa a little lick on the nose and pressed their forehead on hers. She rested her head on their shoulder. The ultimate life-form purred softly, holding her close.

Back aboard the Lor Starcutter, Magolor laid on his bed in his quarters. Holding a datapad in his hands, he checked the progress he made regarding his upcoming wedding and the renovation of the abandoned theme park.

Granted, juggling between these two tasks had been a bit of a hassle. The silence broke when Marx wandered in, peeking through the door frame.

"Heya!" Marx called out, "how are you doing? Is the planning going well?"

Magolor set down the datapad and sat up, turning his gaze towards his fiance.

"So, whatcha up to?" Marx clamored.

The jester climbed up onto the bed and rested on his 'stomach', kicking his feet behind him. Magolor sighed and placed his hand on Marx's head.

"I'm just working on the planning still, are there any reasonable additions you want?" Magolor deadpanned, "I don't want to diverge too far from something normal. Anything you want to add that won't cause anyone to bleed from the eyes?"

"Hmm. Well, what are my options?" Marx frowned, "I can't really think of anything that you wouldn't immediately reject."

Marx really felt bummed out that his favorite things were off limits, such as eldritch monsters, demons, magical combat or even 4D ice sculptures.

"Well, there are a lot of options, if that's what you want," Magolor mentioned as he scrolled through his datapad, "we could do something more formal, which is what I'm leaning towards; maybe something that's more traditionally magical which wouldn't be bad either, or we could do something a bit more silly if that's really what you want. Although personally, I would prefer one of the first two."

Marx blinked twice.

"Formal?"

"Like suit and tie stuff," Magolor clarified, "or in my case, I'd be wearing formal robes. Though knowing you, you'd probably go in a dress just because you thought it would be humorous."

Marx let out an amused giggle.

"Well, I'm doing my best not to be silly when I can!" Marx protested slightly, "I promise, this is important!"

Marx turned over on his back and sat up. He let out a little yawn, his little fangs showing for a moment, scooting a little closer and snuggling into Magolor's side. The mage closed his eyes softly and pulled the jester closer. Marx let out a cute noise, a light blush appearing on his purple cheeks. For a brief moment, Magolor peered out the window. Considering how late at night it was, he could see the lights in the sky glowing with color.

Magolor remembered they stopped at Shiver Star as Marx wanted to explore it, curious as to how almost all of life was scorched from the planet in only a few days.

"Say," Magolor offered, "there are some auroras going on outside. You wanna see it?"

"Sure thing!" Marx chirped.

Magolor and Marx hopped off the bed.

"Also," Marx added, "we probably shouldn't tell either of the humans about this place, if only because it would be extra depressing."

As Magolor led Marx out of their quarters and down the hall, he thought of Adeleine for a brief moment.

"I mean," Marx pondered idly, "maybe we could tell them. It would just need to be handled carefully, I guess."

"I'll think about it," Magolor replied.

Soon enough, Magolor and Marx disembarked the ship. The jester looked up at the sky. Above them, dancing lights of blue, green and violet illuminated the night sky—almost like a celestial ocean arranged in a large oval ring.

"It sure is pretty," he commented, staring in awe.

Magolor nodded in agreement.

"So," Marx asked, his voice having a hint of embarrassment, "what are the plans so far? I'm not really good at planning things anyway, so I'll leave it to you."

Magolor took a moment to think.

"I plan to have it take place in one of a few possible locations that I'm debating on," Magolor answered, "either we could do it on Popstar, Dreamland specifically, or maybe we could do it in the clouds over Dreamland. My other idea is that we could do it at the ruins of Halcandra."

Marx listened in as he brought out his beach ball and began balancing on it.

"That sounds fun," Marx chirped, "Landia will probably be there too, and given the magical significance in the area, I can see it being a good spot to exchange vows."

Magolor chuckled nervously as he blushed. Marx edged closer again, giving the mage a lick through the shadows of his cloak, causing him to let out an undignified squeak.

"M-Marx," Magolor muttered, flustered.

Magolor somewhat returned the gesture by embracing the jester.

"Hehe," Marx mused as he continued to snuggle up to his boyfriend, "so the guest list is done, I think, but who's invited?"

"Well, Kirby is invited to start off," Magolor began, "Dedede and a few minions of his choosing, like Meta Knight and Bandee, are invited since they helped me out before. Hyness, the Mage Generals, Elfilis and Elfilin, and even Vesa are also invited. I considered inviting Adeleine, but we don't really know her that well. I also decided not to send one to Gooey, not that I think he can read, but because nothing good can come out of bringing Elfilis near any kind of Dark Matter. Whispy Woods declined since he's rooted to the ground. Daroach got an invite along with his crew since you got along pretty well during the Void Termina incident. That's pretty much everyone."

Marx grinned as he sprouted his wings. He took a moment to stretch them for a bit.

"So, you considering your favorite flavor for the cake?" Marx clamored.

"My favorite flavor is vanilla," Magolor admitted.

Marx rolled his eyes.

"Well, that's not exciting. Why not try something like red velvet? I haven't had it before, but I heard it's pretty good. You only got one wedding, after all! We should spend a bit to make it really nice!"

"Well," Magolor pondered in deep thought, "I suppose we have the money for that. If we do end up spending a lot, then we'll need to take money out of our research funds."
