Hello hello! Long time no hear! I'm actually so sorry, my life has been pretty busy and I'm only able to chip away at my story! It's definitely not as easy as when I had all that spare time during lock down! Never fear though, I'm still working away little by little. This chapter was an absolute bitch to write as it has a really interesting plot turning point in it. It was difficult to get the delivery right. Please note that this story is already planned from start to finish so all of this was already written in. It was just difficult to drop subtle hints without giving it all away.
This chapter has not been beta read, so some details may change. But the main points will always remain as they are. With all that said, here is chapter 38 Love of a mother.
** Trigger warning mentions of graphic violence**
They hit the ground. Pain was all they could feel. The midday sun blinded their weary eyes. Obito found his thoughts within the gravel jagged beneath his fingers. He tried desperately to slow his spinning head. With his eyelids clenched tight he focused on the delicate kiss of the wind. There was a sudden tap of earth and rustle of leaves somewhere close by. Panic forced his eyes open just as the portal closed with one last hiss. His rapid reaction forced his world back into a tailspin.
"Are we dead?" Kakashi grumbled. With a groan he propped himself up on his good arm. Obito gave a grim chuckle.
Silence spread thin as they waited for each other to speak. Neither had enough mental clarity to navigate the minefield. It wasn't until they heard voices approaching in the distance that they began to stir from their catatonic state.
"That's them! Over here!" Soon the pair was surrounded.
"Let me through!" The ninja parted to let Rin through. Her medical team close behind. "Obito-kun, Kakashi-kun! Where the fuck have you been?!" Her language emphasised the torrent of emotions ripping through her.
Neither replied as they stared at their friend in a strange mixture of relief and guilt. Never before had they truly valued the privilege of her presence.
"Hey, you two! I need answers!" Her scowl softened as she took stock of their expressions. Something was deeply wrong, but it was not the time. She looked around at the crowding ninja. "Don't just stand there, call off the search and report to Lord Fourth!"
"Hai!" They all spoke in sync. Like sparks they disappeared in a flash. Leaving only Rin's medical team.
Kakashi let out a hiss of agony as Rin helped her fellow medical shinobi tie his arm in a sling to minimise his movement. "Everything fell apart while you were gone." Her voice was thick with sorrow as she whispered softly. "There was an incident at the Uchiha village."
Obito choked on his own spit as he inched away from the other medic and closer to his best friend. "Are they-?"
"There are survivors, but only a small number made it out alive." She struggled through her words. "Sasuke-kun is alive, but uh… Mikoto-sama and Katsumi-chan are still in a coma."
"WHAT?" The men exclaimed. Kakashi grunted in pain once again.
Obito scrambled to his feet much to the protest of his body. The medic insisted he stay. Just the gentle force of the medic's hands was enough to have Obito collapse to his knees once again.
"You are in no condition to go anywhere, Obito-kun. Katsumi-chan is safe. If you run off you'll just make everything a lot more difficult." Rin continued to tend to Kakashi's injury before she hooked his good arm over her shoulders, helping him to his feet. The other medic nin helped the weak Uchiha stand as they finally made their way to the hospital.
Katsumi lay comatose in her hospital bed. It was as if life had been drained from her. Skin like paper, wrists bound to the bed, various tubes and wires sticking out from her body. As she began to stir the machine went into a frenzy. Her heart pounded against her rib cage as her eyes burst open. She struggled against her bindings, making a torrent of noise.
"Woah woah! Katsumi-chan!" Rin slipped into the room, obviously rattled. "It's Okay! It's Okay!" She came up to the bedside and quickly unbound her restraints. "Obito and Kakashi have been found! They are both back, safe and alive." The medical genius wrapped her best friend in a warm hug, trying her best to calm.
Katsumi began to hyperventilate, clutching at her friend's arms for dear life. 'What's happening?' She wondered in amongst her racing thoughts. Days, no, weeks it felt like she had been trapped in hell. Blood seeped into her pores as she watched innocents being slaughtered. Every action Fugaku made she was forced to re enact. The most horrifying part was seeing herself reflected in Mikoto's eyes as she smashed the butt of his blade into her temple with crushing force. She forced herself to blink. How long had she been under? Long enough to question whether this was another trick. Rin's soothing arms grounded her.
Finally she lifted her shaking hands and signed one word: 'Explain.'
Rin gently pulled away and made sure to stay in Katsumi's eyesight. "They found you, Sasuke-kun and Mikoto-sama in the Uchiha village. The Anbu came through but it was too late. When they found you all, you were on Mikoko-sama's front lawn, the… the house was on fire. It burnt to the ground. The number of casualties is …devastating. Itachi-san was arrested and detained, but he escaped early this morning. He has officially been declared rogue." She paused for a second to let Katsumi chew through it all.
'What about Obito? Kakashi? Is Sasuke-kun alive? Mikoto-sama? Rin-chan… this is all wrong…' It was straight out of her nightmares. So much death and absolutely nothing she could do about it.
"Sasuke-kun is alive, not injured physically, but mentally… he hasn't left his mothers bedside. From what Kakashi-kun told me, well It's a little out of this world. He's currently in surgery, nothing major, just weapon removal. I'll bring him to you when he's out." She trailed off trying to find the words to explain the next part but was cut off by the opening of the door. Both women turned to watch a little figure streak across the room towards the bed. A big green dinosaur plushie was plopped onto the bed followed by the hands of a familiar Uchiha.
Sasuke climbed onto the bed and crawled up beside his big sister and snuggled into her side. Immediately she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a comforting squeeze, dino included. She examined the toy and furrowed her brow. Sasuke had a toy like this she had seen before, but his house was burned down, how did it survive?
'I knew he needed some sort of comfort, so I bought him a new one. He hasn't slept well since he woke from his coma.' Rin signed, easily reading her best friend's body language.
Gentle snores wafted into their ears as the little boy fell into a deep slumber. Katsumi felt her throat catch with emotion. 'You're an angel.' She signed before changing the subject. 'Why did they arrest Itachi-kun?'
'Witnesses saw him setting the house ablaze. Fugaku-sama was inside. The village believes Itachi-san is behind this.' Rin didn't seem entirely convinced.
Katsumi wanted to say what she saw, but there was someone she had to talk to first before she started jumping to conclusions. She knew Fugaku was behind all this, it was him that put her in a hospital bed. Her whole body screamed at her to tell the truth, but this time she resisted.
'I need to talk to Minato-sensei.' She signed as Rin checked her breathing.
'I know.' The brunette kunoichi replied with a sigh. 'Let's get you some food and then we can think about all of that.' She rubbed her best friend's shoulder and made her way over to the familiar bag on the floor. It was clear Rin had gone to Katsumi's house and grabbed a bag of clothes. The silver kunoichi was almost moved to tears as she took the bag and watched her best friend head to the door.
Once alone with her thoughts she used Sasuke rhythmic breathing to ground herself. It was agonising to be left in limbo with no real answers. All this information was at odds with what she experienced for herself, or was her mind permanently warped by the genjutsu? Nothing was certain anymore.
Minato paced back and forth in the middle of the room. His head buried deep in thought. Kakashi was sitting up on an operating table, bright lights assaulted his exhausted senses as Tsunade removed the metal bar with meticulous accuracy.
"So let's go over this again. You were fighting when the blood moon caused a portal to appear. Which you both then fell through and came out in a different universe." The Fourth Hokage paused his pacing to wait for a reply.
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It was awful, I don't even know how we got back to be honest." Kakashi took deep measured breaths, his shoulder was fully numbed but it didn't mean the tugging was a comfortable experience. "We met ourselves in this universe but everything was completely different…" he looked over at Obito for assistance.
"Everyone was gone. Both Kushina-sensei and you died during the fox attack, Rin-chan died during the fight against the Kiri ninja. Katsumi-chan... she never existed. It was as if someone removed all the joy from our world." Obito tried his best to help explain, but it wasn't going well.
"I want to believe you but I can't." Minato began to pace once more.
"Obito-kun, didn't the other me give you something?" Kakashi desperately prompted.
Obito had a sudden flashback.
"This is all a little crazy, don't you think?" Obito tossed his off hand remark to the different universe Kakashi as they slipped across the rooftops to the Hokage building.
"Actually I was thinking about that." He pulled an object out of his weapon's pouch and slipped it into Obito's hand. "Take this, you may need it."
Obito clicked his fingers in a moment of genius. With deft fingers he reached into his thigh pouch and pulled a familiar blade from within.
"That's impossible…." The Yellow Flash stared at the item in utter disbelief. His three pronged kunai glinted in the hospital lights, interrupted by patches of thick dust.
Kakashi grunted as he tried to reach his weapons pouch while being stitched together. He managed somehow and tossed the blade to his sensei. Minato plucked it from the air and retrieved the other from Obitos waiting hand. The difference was striking. One blade was pristine and looked as if it had been left in a drawer for at least a decade. The other had finger grooves worn into the leather of the handle and the blade was well oiled.
Minato scratched at his chin and gave a small smile of astonishment. He felt his own chakra singing through both blades, but one was a mere echo; disconnected from its teleportation field. He released a deep solem breath, happy to be able to believe his students, but frustrated with all the new variables. "So I was dead, you say?"
"Yeah, you were all gone. The other Obito was the evil bastard who stabbed me, but I have to say, the other me was almost as annoying." Kakashi steadied his breath as Tsunade finished binding his wound and began to clean up.
"I thought the other you was pretty cool, a lot more approachable, if a bit depressed." An understatement to say the least.
The medical team left the room without a word, off to fix their next patient. Minato nodded to the Sannin as she brushed past.
"What happened while we were gone?" Obito dared to ask.
Minato began to explain, he didn't spare the gory details. He shared everything he knew about the events of the last few days. Until he was interrupted by a knock at the door.
"Apologies, Lord Fourth, Uchiha-sama is awake. She is asking for you and Uchiha-san." A medical shinobi spoke up through the wood.
Obito leapt to his feet. Worry struck his heart full force. Minato led the way as they trailed after the medic. Finally they made it to a room under even heavier guard than theirs. They were let straight through.
Her heavy eyelids fluttered closed only to pop back open seconds later. It was obvious it was taking everything she had to stay conscious.
"Obito, child, I must tell you something," she took deep, measured breaths. Her strength was limited so she didn't move her head, only her eyes. She struggled through every word, but she was determined to continue. "Incase I don't get the chance again." The silence was tense as no one knew what to say. Instead Obito stepped up to her bedside and gripped her hand.
"I'm here." His voice was thick with emotion that threatened to choke him. Seeing her so weak, clinging to life with every breath, it was heartbreaking.
"You deserve to know… who you are…" She sighed deeply. Time slowed, every breath separating words was a lifetime.
"You were never a mistake, my beautiful boy." He felt her weak grip tighten for just a moment. Her eyes closed as if to conserve energy. "Your father was a great man. His name was Daiki, Daiki Uchiha. He was Fugaku's younger brother." Every word was a rock shifted from long buried truths. "He was my first love. Fugaku, as the Uchiha heir, chose me as his bride. They despised each other."
Obito attempted to take it all in, though he failed miserably.
"Daiki-kun challenged his older brother, in an old ritual. He was strong, but Fugaku was clever. Daiki's defeat was brutal but it never crushed his spirit. When I fell pregnant I saw a way out. I thought we would be disowned, but at least I would be with him. But… he…he died on a mission before you were born." she drew in a shuddering breath, "Fugaku made me swear to disown you. You are my first born, my secret pride. I have wanted to tell you for so long." By the time she finished he was weeping. In spirit she was sobbing with him, but her physical condition would never allow it.
Obito was in shock. Suddenly everything fell into place. It was as if it had been staring him in the face the whole time. The love he felt from Mikoto was a mothers love. Something he thought he would never know. Memories of her visiting him and bringing him food late in the night. He recalled the lingering hugs and the longing look in her eyes as she always shut the door on him. Finally his uncle's pure hatred made perfect sense. Obito was Fugaku's biggest loss and Daiki's final victory. Everyone in the room was stunned, unsure how to process the words coming from the Uchiha matriarch.
"You're my… mother?" He finally croaked.
"Yes, my sweet boy. You were never an orphan, but I was never allowed to love you like I should have. Forgive me."
The room was silent save for the rasping of Mikoto's struggling lungs. To Minato this was an old suspicion now confirmed, he knew Daiki, in fact they had been great friends. Obito had always struck him as the spitting image of the late Uchiha. But it was never his place to ask, nor assume.
Obito couldn't decide if his tears were of joy or despair.
Mikoto's eyes fluttered open for a moment before gravity forced them shut again. "I must speak to Lord Fourth alone now, please." It was clear she was fading fast.
The click of the lock emphasised the heavy silence. Usually the hospital was buzzing, but this wing was haunting. He rounded a corner narrowly avoiding a collision with a running Rin.
"Oh, Obito-kun, I found you." Without another word she spun on her heels and led the Uchiha to Katsumi's room.
When he entered Rin shut and locked the door behind them. Obito came to stand at her side, capturing her hand once more.
Katsumi stared up at him, a mixture of emotions flooding through her. She was ecstatic to see him unharmed. A layer of sorrow was bubbling under his skin. It was painful to watch the tears pool in his eyes before clenched his eyes shut.
The damn burst. Tears poured from his eyes and he choked on his sobs. Despite his cry baby reputation, no one had ever seen Obito cry like that. Rin was quick to push a chair under him just before his legs collapsed. Katsumi stared helplessly. She kept her grip tight but there was nothing to say.
Everything was happening too fast. With a blink their whole world had changed. Nothing was certain. Obito's sobs began to ebb.
Rin took the chance to bring her friends back to the present. "What do we know for certain?"
Obito sucked in a deep breath and wiped his cheeks. "Shall I start?" The cracking of his voice was just as heartbreaking as the crying. Katsumi gave his hand a squeeze of encouragement.
"Well I was coming back from a mission, late of course." He couldn't help but see the glimmer of humour amongst the angst. "Kakashi confronted me before I could reach the gate. I tell you, that dude has issues. Anyway, he projected all of his problems onto me and I was gonna let it slide." His expression soured. "Then he accused me things worse than death... I saw red, it got physical. Something screwy happened with the sharingan, because a portal sucked us into another world." Finally he paused to take in the torrent of emotions gracing his lover's face. The scorn, the awe, the worry. With a deep inhale he continued. "It was exactly like this world, but the future. Everything was different. The fox attack killed Kushina-sensei and Minato-sensei. Naruto was an orphan. Rin-chan died the night the Kiri shinobi cornered you."
Rin's warm hand came to rest on his shoulder, to remind him she was still here.
Obito locked eyes with Katsumi once more. "You didn't exist."
Screams echoed in her mind as her nightmares violently forced themselves to the surface. She clutched at her head whilst trying to keep herself together. The heart monitor was not fooled. The weight of Sasuke in her lap and Obito's grip kept her spinning off into space.
"We met Kakashi. That was super complicated. But this Kakashi was hardened… matured… purposeful. He helped us find a way home…" He didn't know if he was ready to discuss the monster he faced at the end.
"Kakashi-kun is fine by the way." Rin injected. Her soft tone cracked the surface tension.
It took a few minutes of silence to let it all sink in. Before anyone could speak there was a tap on the door. Rin unlocked it and Kakashi slipped into the room without a word. In that same stretch of silence he crossed to her bedside. Now Katsumi had Obito to her right, Kakashi on her left, Sasuke curled in her lap and Rin leaning on the back of Obito's chair.
The twins took stock of each other. Kakashi clutched her face with his good arm and turned it side to side. He fawned over her, checking her teeth, her eyes, her hands, anything he could think of. All the while allowing Katsumi to observe him, his obvious injuries and the obscured. The room was silent save the beeps of the machines still attached to her.
"Never leave my sight again. I can't live in a world without you." The words tumbled from the eldest Hatake. Each syllable sucked a breath from the room. Never had anyone in that room heard the quiet part out loud. Katsumi knew her brother loved her, but the grief in his tone was something else.
Katsumi slowly and methodically shook her head. "Ma, ma, onii-san. I'm bed bound." The joke was flat and pathetic but it did the trick. Laughter lifted the mood but the melancholy lingered.
"Katsumi-chan, I have to know. What do you remember?" Rin kept the question short and sweet.
There was a long pause before Katsumi replied with a croak, "It was getting dark. I promised Itachi-san that I would walk Sasuke-kun home-'
Abruptly the door flung out and in came Lord Fourth. "Rin-chan, I need you to take Sasuke-kun to get food. It is past meal time."
Rin kicked into action, Sasuke wasn't pleased but his exhaustion had him cuddling the medic nin as she carried him away. Minato shut the door before slapping up a silencing seal.
"Yes, I am here to answer your burning questions. This must be the one and only time we talk about this." Minato bore his eyes directly into Katsumi's skull. "Itachi Uchiha has been found guilty of inciting a mutiny and the subsequent slaughter of the Uchiha clan."
Katsumi's eyes narrowed. Obito and Kakashi's eyes began to rattle around in their skulls.
"Officially you two were kidnapped by enemy shinobi and evaded capture on your own." Minato looked to the men now.
"Hai!" They nodded in unison.
"Itachi-kun didn't do it." Katsumi remained stone faced. The yellow-haired shinobi rubbed his chin and gestured for her to continue. "Fugaku planned it all. He showed me everything."
"Fugaku-sama had a very powerful specialty. Itachi-san had the exact same power. He has used it to recreate memories. He's sewn deep seeds in your subconscious. Sasuke- bless him, has the same problem. Itachi has played us all for fools."
Katsumi reeled. She began to question reality. Everything she knew for fact went flying out the window. It didn't make sense, she knew him. She knew Itachi would rather slice off his own hand than hurt Sasuke. The look in Minato's eyes told her that this would be a private discussion to be had later. So instead of fighting she sucked in a deep breath and nodded.
"All three of you will be placed on medical leave for a month." They all nodded as he finished up. "I want well rested soldiers ready for action, so no funny business or over training. And kids?" He looked each one of them in the eyes and sighed. "Thank fuck you're all alive. Dinner on friday, Kushina is making curry. I will see you all there."
And just like that, the trio was alone.
Katsumi finally stood at the door of the hospital ready to go home, but she knew it wasn't that easy. That was until Kushina arrived with her brood in tow. Naruto ran in just as Obito led a sullen Sasuke down the hall. The little Uchiha gave the smallest of smiles as the boisterous blond invited him to play at his house. The teasing began and it was as if nothing had changed. But the moment was fleeting. Kushina gave her apprentice a firm shoulder hug in greeting.
"I visited Mikoto-chan, this morning, Minato-kun told me everything. Finally good to have the secret out in the open, aye?" Kushina focused solely on the positives, even if it was only the one.
Obito cracked a melancholy smile. "It answers a lot of questions. Did you know too?"
"Well yes, but no. Mikoto-chan never told me, but it doesn't take a genius. She disappeared for a while on some sort of official Uchiha business months before you were born. No one ever mentioned it, mostly out of respect, but also out of fear." Kushina knew she didn't need to elaborate.
Katsumi frowned at the missing context, she didn't understand what they were talking about, but she decided to ask Obito privately later. 'Will he stay with you?' She asked, her eyes still lingering on the boys as they chased each other.
"Sasuke-kun? Well for a while, just until he can face the Uchiha village. We haven't even begun the clean up. Obito-kun, best you wait to go home too." She blinked back her welling tears and cleared her throat. "I'll take the kids home, you two just rest. I mean it." She narrowed her eyes at Obito which made Katsumi giggle. Her laughing ceased when she received an equally disapproving stare.
They watched as the family left. Sasuke gave a little wave as he was dragged away by his best friend.
"I could use a drink." Obito groaned as he stretched his sore muscles.
'That's a new one.' Katsumi giggled as she hooked her arm into his elbow.
"I didn't mean alcohol, but that does sound nice. I should invite your brother." He began to turn back, only to be pulled in the opposite direction.
Katsumi shook her head and let go to sign: 'Don't worry about him, he's making sure Rin gets some rest too.'
Obito rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Rest, sure. Well, let's leave those two love birds alone and find our own fun."
Katsumi melted into his side as they made their way into the street. His arm hooked around her waist as he held her tight.
They stopped at the bar to grab a drink but it was way too crowded for Katsumi's liking. Obito just shrugged it off and headed into the store to grab a bottle to go. He snagged a fruit juice for his lover and relished in the look that spread across her face. Oh how his heart throbbed when she looked at him like that, like he was her own personal hero. He offered his elbow and they both made their way slowly to the lookout point. It was during the day and they were both still on medical leave. Both shinobi cherished the rare time together.
'So you never actually told me what happened.' Katsumi signed as they took their seats on the bark.
"Huh, well it's not a very good story." Obito opened the bottle with a pop before taking a long swig. He knew exactly where this was headed so he just jumped right into the story. "Bakashi confronted me on my way home from a mission. I was already late and exhausted. To be honest I was more tired of having the same fight with him. He called me a few names but nothing got to me, till he accused me of forcing myself on you-"
Katsumi involuntarily sprayed her mouthful of juice all over the ground below. She whipped her head around, her eyes full of wild rage.
"Wait a second, sweetcheeks, I was furious too. I told him exactly how it was, slapped down some home truths about his possessiveness. It triggered a nerve because we started to fight and I didn't even realise that my sharingan was active. He tried a few cheap tricks and I went a little harder than I should have. My mangekyou sharingan reacted to the blood moon and in the end our collective rage caused an accident? I guess… We fell through my kamui and came out in a whole different universe."
Katsumi's jaw was on the floor and her eyes were wide in disbelief. 'Really?'
"Yeah, I was just as shocked as you are. We hit the ground and just… Everything was off. It didn't hit us how wrong until we saw Gai-kun as a fucking sensei."
'Gai-kun? A sensei?! I pity the students.' She cracked a smile, even with her brow furrowed in concern.
"He was older, everyone was. We thought it was time travel. Till we met the other Kakashi, he was actually pretty cool, if a little cold. Didn't trust us at first, but I saw to that."
'He must have been very confused, seeing you so young.' Katsumi added.
"Actually he was amazed to see me alive." Obito braced for the questions.
'What? Why?'
"You didn't exist, babydoll." They were both silent. Katsumi's vision began to blur around the edges as he continued. "You didn't exist, so no one pushed Rin out of the way, I never came back to the village. The fox attack happened and it cost Minato and Kushina their lives too… Katsumi-chan?" He watched as her eyes glazed over and her grip on the juice began to loosen.
She could only just hear him through the white noise. Her stomach dropped as flashes of her childhood nightmares pulled her further into the abyss. Obito gently gripped the bottle of juice to stop it from falling and called her name louder this time. The physical contact tore her from the darkness and thrust her back into reality.
"Hey, Katsumi, baby? Where'd you go?" He gently probed.
Her voice was soft like the autumn breeze as she spoke. "It's nothing… well… sometimes I feel like my existence is… a mistake? Like I'm interrupting things that have already happened… Never mind, forget it." The silver kunoichi began to retreat inside herself.
"Having experienced a world without you, I would say having you here is a blessing. Can you imagine a world where Kakashi was alone? A solo child?"
Katsumi's face became a mask of horror as she realised what that meant. "Nee-san would have walked in on- oh Kami. All alone?"
"Yeah and you could tell. You should have seen the way his eyes lit up when I told him you existed in our universe. I wish our Kakashi could be that happy for someone else." Obito scoffed as he removed the drink from her hands and set it aside.
"So Kushina-sensei, Minato-sensei and -" she gulped, "Rin-chan? They were all dead?"
"Mmhm. Sasuke-kun was an orphan too, but everything was different there. I was waaaaaay shorter." His joke hit just right.
Katsumi's laugh broke the icy tension. She leaned into his side and pulled her knees up to her chest. "So, you're saying if I didn't exist, you would be shorter? Well I'm sold. Good thing I exist then." The wolf ninja glossed over the fact that he had just told her that without her, her loved ones would have died a long time ago. That was just too much to comprehend. Instead she focused on the fact that it wasn't her reality and they had bigger problems to address. "Sooooooo… I guess you'll be staying with me for a while then." She threw a heavy lidded smirk in his direction as she changed the subject.
Now it was Obito's turn to choke on his drink. "Ah yeah, I hope that's not a problem." His cheeks flushed red as he became adorably flustered.
"Oh, massive problem. How could you ever expect to stay with your fiancée?" Her sarcasm was welcomed by the stressed Uchiha.
"Well fuck, looks like I'm rooming with Kakashi then." At this they both burst into rapturous laughter. Joy spread through their veins, chasing away the chill of uncertainty.
"I'll have to get stuff from home first." He casually finished his drink as he waited for her reply.
"I figured as much. It is a crime scene, though." She rested her head on his upper arm as she observed all the life below.
"I know. But I need my stuff and… I need to see it. I'll have to help with the clean up eventually anyway." He passed over Katsumi's remaining juice so she could finish up. She gladly took it, remaining glued to his side as she chugged the last few mouthfuls.
"Should we wait for dark?" She furrowed her brow at him.
"Yeah, probably. We have time." He took a deep soothing breath as they looked out on the town.
There you have it! And this time I didn't leave us on a cliffhanger! Hope you are enjoying my story so far! Still roughly about 40ish chapters still left, if I don't get too carried away! I promise to update soon!
