While Rimuru let out a sigh as she patted her forehead, the mages, especially the dragon slayers, were left confused and surprised at Veldora's request.
"Do you… want us to fight you?" asked Wendy.
"Of course. You say that your magic allows you to slay dragons and I am a dragon. I wish I could check if what you say is true." said Veldora.
"Of course it's true! And I'll prove it to you right now!" said Natsu.
"So will I. No one takes me for a liar and gets away with it." said Gajeel.
"I… I'll fight too." said Wendy with determination.
"Wendy, are you sure?" asked Charle.
"I won't let him mess with my mother. I don't care if I have to fight him." said Wendy.
"That's the way I like it. Then let's go to a wider ground to fight on." said Veldora before leading the dragon slayers out of the office, leaving the others alone.
"This is going to end badly, isn't it?" asked Lucy.
"Warning. Yes, but for them." said Raphael.
Later, they all found themselves in a forest meadow far away from the city.
In the middle of the meadow stood Veldora and the three dragon slayers while the others stood to the side as spectators.
"Just out of curiosity, how strong is Veldora?" asked Gray to Rimuru.
"Well, in this world, almost everything is categorized by ranks. The higher the rank, the more powerful the person." said Rimuru.
"And what rank does he possess?" asked Lucy dreading the answer.
"While some of my friends and I are at rank S, Veldora is at rank S+, the highest of all." said Rimuru.
That left the other mages and exceed very worried, for that showed that Veldora was someone totally powerful and was going to face their friends.
Yes, they may have faced powerful opponents, but they weren't sure how to deal with someone like that.
"Which reminds me." said Rimuru before extending his arm forward.
In the next instant, a barrier formed around the meadow in a cylindrical shape.
"What have you done?" asked Erza.
"I erected a barrier to protect the surroundings. Let's just say Veldora has a little trouble holding back." said Rimuru.
"Oh my god." said Happy horrified to learn that his friend was about to face a monster.
"Wendy, be careful!" exclaimed Charle concerned for her friend.
"It's too late to back out now. We can just stay here and watch." said Lily.
While Natsu and Gajeel were ready to fight, Wendy looked quite nervous, as she could hear what the others said and it worried her a lot, but she decided to go ahead with the fight.
"Well, since I was the one who suggested the fight, I'll let you take the first blow. Hit me as hard as you can." Veldora said with a smile and arms outstretched.
"Are you underestimating us?" asked Natsu.
"It will be a mistake on his part." said Gajeel.
"Wait. Before we start..." began Wendy before spreading her arms. "Vernier! Arms! Armor!" shouted Wendy causing her and the other two to be enveloped in a bright green aura.
"What is that?" asked Rimuru.
"Besides being a dragon slayer, Wendy possesses enhancement spells that increase the speed, defense and strength of those she affects" explained Erza.
"Enhancement spells? This might make for an interesting fight." thought Rimuru focusing his gaze on the meadow.
"Come on. I'm not going to be like this all day." said Veldora.
"You take it easy. We'll get this over with in no time." said Natsu before he and the others charged towards him. "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" shouted Natsu throwing a fist wrapped in fire.
"Iron Dragon's Club!" shouted Gajeel turning his arm into a club and extending it towards the human dragon.
"Sky Dragon's Claw!" shouted Wendy jumping high and wrapping her leg in air to hit him.
The three attacks impacted directly on the human dragon's chest, generating a curtain of smoke.
However, when the curtain was undone, the three were shocked when they saw Veldora in the same position.
It was as if he hadn't been hit at all.
"That's it? I guess it's my turn now." said Veldora with his fist drawn back.
Instinctively, the three dragon slayers quickly stepped back to dodge the blow that impacted the ground, leaving a huge crater.
"H-He's very strong." said Wendy nervously.
"But so are we. Iron Dragon's Lance!" shouted Gajeel transforming his arms into lances which he then shot towards the human dragon, but it resisted them like nothing before lunging towards him, appearing in front of him in no time, much to his surprise.
"Too slow." said Veldora before punching him in the stomach sending him crashing into the barrier.
"You bastard. You'll pay for this." said Natsu before shooting towards him while covering his body with fire. "Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!" shouted Natsu directly impacting his opponent, but once again, he was unaffected.
"Haven't you learned from what happened before?" asked Veldora.
"I'm not done yet!" shouted Natsu undoing the fire from his body before quickly grabbing the human dragon's face. "Fire Dragon's Grip Strike!" shouted Natsu as he released a burst of fire that completely covered him before an explosion happened.
Natsu stepped back as Veldora undid the smoke caused by the explosion.
"Impressive. You managed to catch me by surprise." said Veldora with a grin.
"Sky Dragon's Roar!"
Veldora quickly turned around to see Wendy shoot out of her mouth a tornado that hit him directly.
However, Veldora quickly went through the tornado and stood in front of Wendy, who was horrified.
"Don't think that, because you're a girl, I'll go soft on you." said Veldora before grabbing Wendy's face and impacting her against the ground, leaving several cracks in the process.
"WENDY!" exclaimed Charle and Lucy in complete horror at the sight of the young dragon slayer being beaten in such a manner.
"Now, where were we going?" asked Veldora before he noticed a shadow above him and raised his head to see Gajeel high in the air.
"I won't be felled so easily!" shouted Gajeel as he transformed his hand into an iron sword. "Iron Dragon's Sword!" shouted Gajeel as the blades of the sword spun like a chainsaw.
Gajeel fell straight towards him intending to strike him with his sword, but then, Veldora grabbed the sword with his hand and destroyed it with a small squeeze, causing Gajeel to cry out from the pain.
Before he could react, Veldora gave him a side kick that sent him crashing into the barrier.
"Two down, one to go." said Veldora before he noticed something glowing and looked to the side to see Natsu with a huge fireball on him.
"I'm still standing! Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flame!" shouted Natsu throwing the fireball towards the human dragon, causing a huge explosion in the process.
Natsu hoped that that might do something, but then, Veldora stepped out of the impact zone and stood in front of him.
"It's over." began Veldora before kneeing him in the chest that sent him backwards. "Was that magic supposed to kill dragons? HA. Either you are weak or the dragons of your world were, including your parents."
"Take that back…"
Veldora was a little surprised when he saw Natsu getting up with difficulty.
"Take back… that thing you said." said Natsu as he was getting up.
"Oh, I see you still have the strength to stand up. Hey, do yourself a favor and give up, you have nothing to do against me!" said Veldora.
"No way! I won't allow… you to talk like that about Igneel, nor Metalicana, nor Grandeeney! They… They gave everything for us!" began Natsu remembering when they had to sacrifice themselves during the battle against Tartaros. "I won't let you talk about them like that!" exclaimed Natsu as his body was engulfed by a huge flame.
Needless to say, Veldora was quite shocked at that display of power.
"Wow. So you had all that up your sleeve, huh? I'll tell you this. I'll take back what I said… if you survive this," Veldora said as he leaned back a bit with his hands as a sphere of energy formed between them.
"Oh, uh. He's going to do that." said Rimuru.
"What? What's it going to do?" asked Lily.
"I'm just glad I put up the barrier." said Rimuru, greatly worrying the other mages.
"I'll make you pay for what you said! DRAGON SLAYER'S SECRET ARTS!" shouted Natsu as the fire around him took the shape of a bird. "CRIMSON LOTUS: EXPLODING FLAME BLADE!" shouted Natsu as he swung his arms around and unleashed great and powerful spiral-shaped bursts of fire.
"That's it! Give it all!" shouted Veldora before stretching his hands forward, causing the sphere to turn into a powerful beam of energy.
Both attacks collided with each other and remained in a stalemate until Veldora's attack overpowered Natsu's attack and passed through it to reach Natsu, causing an explosion so powerful that, despite the barrier, onlookers could feel the wind caused by the blast.
"NATSU!" shouted all the mages and exceed in unison, worried for their friend.
When the smoke cleared, Veldora was seen standing while Natsu lay unconscious on the ground, as did Gajeel and Wendy.
"Oh, no." said Lucy.
Rimuru was quick to undo the barrier.
"We need to get them to the hospital right away!" said Erza urgently.
"That won't be necessary. I'll take care of them." said Rimuru advancing towards them, much to the confusion of the other mages.
As Rimuru approached Natsu, he pulled a potion from his hand from which he poured its contents into the fire dragon slayer's mouth.
"You had to do that, didn't you?" asked Rimuru.
"What do you want me to tell you? That boy encouraged me to do it." said Veldora with his hands behind his head.
After giving the potion to Natsu, he went to do the same to the other dragon slayers.
"What did you give them?" asked Charle.
"A healing potion that I create myself. Not only will it heal their wounds, but it will also restore their energy." said Rimuru.
"Wow. I've never heard of such a potion." said Gray.
In the next instant, the three dragon slayers were enveloped in a glowing aura before their eyes snapped open and they gasped as they sat up.
"W-What happened?" asked Gajeel.
"Wendy, are you all right?!" asked Charle.
"Y-Yes, much better than I thought." said Wendy.
"You certainly have guts." began Veldora getting the dragon slayers' attention. "Very few people have the guts to stand up to me."
"Tsk. But we didn't even manage to land a hit on you. Some dragon slayers we are." said Natsu.
"True. We couldn't even take down those dragons that attacked the capital." said Gajeel remembering when the dragons from 400 years ago traveled to the present and even though all the dragon slayers fought them, they couldn't do much to them.
"Come on. Don't be so pessimistic. Yes, it's true that you didn't do anything to me, but that doesn't mean you can't do better." said Veldora.
"Really?" asked Wendy.
"Of course. It may have been for a moment, but I could sense a huge potential in you and I'm sure your parents saw it too when they taught you that magic." said Veldora.
"Of course you did!" began Natsu getting up. "I'm strong and someday I'll beat you up."
"Heh. I'm looking forward to seeing that. And since you survived my attack, I take back what I said before. No hard feelings." said Veldora extending his hand towards the fire dragon slayer.
"Yes." began Natsu taking the human dragon's hand and shaking it. "And while we're at it, would you mind teaching me?"
"Huh? Teach you?" asked Veldora in surprise.
"Yes! I want to get stronger! And if you, a real dragon, teach me, I'm sure I'll get it!" said Natsu with a toothy grin.
"Hold it right there!" began Gajeel getting up. "If you're going to get such a training, then I want too."
"Yes." began Wendy getting up. "Please, Mr. Veldora, teach me too." said Wendy bowing.
Veldora stared at them for a moment before bursting out laughing.
"Truly you are peculiar humans. Well, I guess that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Alright, I'll be teaching you in the time you're here." said Veldora.
"Great! Did you hear that, Happy? A real dragon is going to train me." said Natsu.
"That's great." said Happy, happy for his friend.
"It's amazing that we've gone from a fight to this." said Gray.
"Yes, but it's better this way." said Lucy.
"Veldora can be a little crazy, but he can be counted on when he's needed." said Rimuru.
"By the way, there's one thing I didn't realize until now. Why do you and he share the same last name?" asked Erza.
"That's right. You both have the last name Tempest." said Lily.
"Oh, it's a long story, but long story short, when I was reincarnated in this world, I had no name and it was Veldora who gave it to me and I in return, gave him a last name." said Rimuru.
"And from that moment on we became sworn friends." said Veldora putting his arm around his shoulders to pull him into a side hug.
"That's nice." said Wendy.
"Lord Rimuru!"
They all turned to the side to see Shion approaching them.
"Lord Rimuru, everything is ready." said Shion.
"Oh, good." said Rimuru.
"What is prepared?" asked Gajeel.
"Well, your welcome to the city." said Rimuru.
"Our welcome?" asked Charle.
"Isn't that too much?" asked Wendy.
"Not at all. It's just that I want everyone to get to know you, since you're going to be here for a few days." said Rimuru.
"I understand." said Erza.
"Very well." began Rimuru before returning to his slime form, being picked up by Shion and placed under her chest. "We'd better not keep them waiting."
After a while, they led the Earthland mages to the main square, where several monsters gathered.
Needless to say, some of them were nervous, due to the fact that some of the monsters were looking at them with a hard, piercing gaze, as if, the moment they did something wrong, they would pounce on them.
It was then that Shion stood in front of everyone and raised Rimuru high.
"Greetings, everyone. You're probably wondering why I gathered you all together. Well, to make a long story short, a group of… travelers from distant lands recently arrived in city and until they can return home they will be staying here for a while. So I hope you can treat them as you would any of you." said Rimuru.
There was a moment when the mages thought that some of the monsters wouldn't accept them for the fact that they were human, but then…
The audience erupted in cheers and shouts of joy, accepting their leader's request.
"Wow. I wasn't expecting this." said Gray.
"Yes. It's amazing that everyone accepted us so easily." said Lucy.
"That's my friend's special power. Able to earn the respect of many people." said Veldora.
The mages were surprised to see that someone of that appearance, but great power, could be respected by many monsters.
One thing was clear to them and that was that Rimuru was truly amazing.
