Moving to Konoha, Kurotsuchi goes to be a kunoichi for the village with hopes of keeping stable relations and meets Naruto Uzumaki. Soon they become inseparable and eventually she grows to love the village as her own. When they become shinobi they confront a foe who wants to end the age of shinobi and a battle between them and the samurai will determine the fate of the world.

49. Chakra Disruption

Chapter 49: Chakra Disruption

Shisui made his way toward the center of the field and watched as the allied shinobi forces came barreling toward him en masse. He knew they all could see him and while he could make mince meat of all the cannon fodder ninja from each village he did not plan on inflicting carnage on them yet as he had them right where he wanted them. Seeing Naruto leading the pack he saw the blonde point in his direction and he waited a few more seconds before they came within three hundred meters of his current position before using his famed teleporting skills to vanish back into the treeline where hundreds of Shinsengumi foot soldiers waited in the cover of the trees.

''Everyone get your arrows ready.'' Shisui ordered.

The Shinsengumi foot soldiers nodded and each one of them strung their arrowheads, the arrowheads were made to resemble to blade of a yari spear which would allow their arrows to penetrate cleanly through an opponent's body. If it caused only a flesh wound it wouldn't matter either because it would easily slice through the skin deep enough to cause severe bleeding. Some of the foot soldiers had arrowheads that resembled a barbed yari and should these hit the ninja they would only tear their flesh should they pull it out. Shisui and the foot soldiers watched on as the ninja came within the center of the field and the Uchiha showed no emotion as he placed his hand on his tanto's handle ready for battle.

The Allied Shinobi Forces arrived at the center of the field where they had spotted the masked Shisui and were confused at his sudden disappearance. They came to a stop and the heard nothing in the area aside from the sounds of nature and the slight breeze that began to blow throughout the field. They all looked around for several minutes and saw nothing as all traces of Shisui disappeared.

''Hey where'd that mask asshole go?'' Naruto questioned in confusion.

''He disappeared, almost teleported instantly into thin air.'' Kurotsuchi said.

''That asshole is still in the area I bet so we can't give up yet.'' Genma added.

''That masked man teleported in a way that rivals Minato-sensei's use of the Hiraishin. Besides Mako there was ever only one person who could've used the shunshin with such great skill and speed.'' Kenji thought as he was beginning to get real suspicious of the masked man.

Suddenly a large explosion surrounded the shinobi and soon a massive cloud of purple odorless gas filled the area and the shinobi from all the villages began coughing violently. Some were coughing so hard that it looked a bit hysterical and among those coughing in such a way were team eleven.

''Ack! What the hell is this stuff?!'' shouted Naruto.

''Gross! I feel my skin burning!'' Kurotsuchi got out between coughs.

''Fuck me dude!'' Genma exclaimed.

''I thought tear gas was outlawed when the first war ended!'' Kenji gagged, ''Wait, the Shinsengumi aren't a country like Tetsu was. They don't have to abide by the rules of war.''

The gas cloud only became larger and larger and after nearly ten minutes of violent coughing fits the shinobi began to see that the gas was receding and soon enough their coughing ceased as the gas finally dissipated and they could finally see in front of them. As the shinobi were all recovering the sensors within the group weren't able to pick up signatures all around them in the trees and high ground since they were too busy finding their bearings to even notice.

Naruto noticed that the gas had gone by and noticed that only the sounds of his allies recovering and conversing filled the air instead of the violent coughing fits.

''Uh, was that it?'' he questioned.

''What the hell? I thought we were gonna melt or some shit.'' Kurotsuchi said.

''That was it? What was the point of that I still feel fine.'' Genma inquired.

The other ninja within the group looked around and were just as confused as team eleven and soon every ninja in the group felt normal again.

''Huh? That was weird.'' spoke a Kiri Chunin.

''That made no sense. Was that just suppose to cause us discomfort?'' asked a Suna Jonin.

Kenji looked around and noticed that everyone seemed to be fine just like them and was seriously just as confused as everyone else. When the tear gas hit them they all got the normal and expected reaction which was violent coughing fits, mucus pouring out the nose as well as burning skin but it never proved to be fatal even when it was used in the first war years ago. Did the Shinsengumi just use a non-fatal means of attacking the shinobi? If so what did it do besides make everyone cough hysterically?

''I thought the Shinsengumi wants to kill ninjas. What was even the point of that?'' Kenji thought in confusion.

One thing he did realize was that when he closed his eyes to sense the chakra of everyone around him he noticed that he was able to sense people but was unable to sense their chakra which was strange to him as he usually could tell which village they were from based on their affinity. He looked around as his team and the other shinobi discussed among themselves of the situation they were in and look toward the high ground and the surrounding tree line. Before he could say anything he saw what looked like several lines flying out from the top of the hills to their left and right as well as the tree line in front of them and upon squinting he noticed what they were.

''Everyone heads up! Arrows are coming right at us!'' Kenji shouted out.

Team eleven looked in the direction Kenji was pointing at and seeing the arrow rain coming right for them and Kurotsuchi's instincts kicked in.

''All Iwa ninja use a rock shelter jutsu now!'' shouted the Iwa woman.

Hearing Kurotsuchi's voice the Iwa ninja in the group all performed a series of hand seals and their comrades ran toward them to be shielded from the attack.

''These arrows ain't nothing to a good rock shelter.'' an Iwa Chunin smirked.

All the Iwa ninja slammed their hands on the floor to summon a rock shelter but as soon as they did they saw that nothing happened and the Iwa ninja with the smirk on his face had a frown and he was shocked to see nothing happened. He and his comrades only watched as the arrows came down on them.

''Wait, what's going on? Ack!''

In the blink of an eye several dozen of the ninjas were skewered and struck all over their body with the arrow rain strategy the Shinsengumi utilized.

''Argh!'' a Konoha Jonin screamed as he was skewered with arrows.

Seeing the situation Kenji, without a second thought grabbed the body of a dead Iwa ninja and held it to block the arrows. He looks at his team and motions them to do the same with the bodies of their dead comrades and use them as meat shields. Naruto, Genma and Kurotsuchi were apalled and shocked at seeing Kenji just scoop up a corpse and use it to defend against the arrows. They could only watch as several dozen of their fellow ninja were killed in the arrow rain and it seemed to go on forever and they knew from the amount of people that were just dropping to the ground dead they were already suffering huge losses in manpower. Seeing Kenji and his team the surviving ninja began to scoop up the corpses of their brethren and use them to defend from the arrows.

A little over ten minutes have passed since the arrow began falling on them and from the looks of it the volume of fire only increased and the surviving ninja could simply do nothing but wait under the corpses they carried for protection.

''Holy shit! This is a goddamn nightmare!'' Naruto exclaimed angrily.

''What the hell happened? Why couldn't the Iwa platoons use their earth release?!'' Kurotsuchi questioned in confusion.

''Dude, this is just fucked up! When's it gonna fucking stop!?'' Genma screamed out.

''The Iwa platoons couldn't use their earth release, I can't sense anyone's chakra signatures. What the hell was that gas attack? Did it have anything to do with it?'' Kenji thought in frustration, ''Well shit looks like it's raining cats and dogs! Erm, well it isn't literally but you guys know what I mean!''

Hearing his rival making a bad joke in a bad situation Zabuza could only growl in frustration at Ken's attempt at comedy.

''Grr, this is no time to joke Kasugano!''

''Just wanted to make you all quiver with laughter!''

''KENJI-SENPAI!''

The arrow rain seemed to go on forever before it finally stopped but the surviving members of the group stood there holding up their dead comrades corpses in case another rain came down on them and after about five minutes of nothing happening Kenji would be the one to speak.

''I think we're in the clear guys!'' he shouted out.

Everyone put their meat shield down and looked around to confirm that others who have survived were okay.

''You good man?'' a Kiri Chunin asked to a Kumo Chunin.

''Yeah I'm good.'' replied the Kumo Chunin.

Ken looked around the field to see how many of their forces have fallen and cursed inwardly when he realized they lost more than he had hoped for. Several of them that only took an arrow to the leg or arm attempted to pull the barbed arrows out but the barbed edges only tore through more flesh making their victims howl in pain before they successfully pulled the arrows out.

However Ken noticed that those who were hit with barbed arrows only made themselves bleed more and a few actually dropped dead from the blood loss. Mostly those who took more than one arrow. One unfortunate Suna Chunin pulled out an arrow that struck her in the arm and she ends up severing her brachial artery causing her to bleed out into unconsciousness and she only fell over. A medic-nin from Kumo rushed over to check her but it was too late as she already bled out.

''Fuck, out of a battalion-sized element we lost a little over half our guys. That was some goddamn arrow rain and if they managed to take this many guys out without even facing us directly I'm sure they got some crazy guerrilla tactics. Looks like a little under two-hundred are left standing so we're starting off the war on a shitty note.'' Ken said to himself.

''Yo Ken!.''

Hearing the voice Kenji turned to see Kotetsu and Izumo and just the mere sight of them brought a feeling of relief to Kenji. He knew they were in the group as well and he was scared for them when the arrows began to fall on them knowing that they had no experience in combat or dealing with being attacked like that as they were gate guards since they graduated.

''I'm glad you guys are alive. So, are you glad you survived being attacked for the first time?'' Kenji joked as the pair made their way over to join him and the team.

''Glad you guys are okay!'' Naruto quipped.

''Nice to see you guys still standing, really.'' Kurotsuchi said.

''Looks who's here the Eternal Gate Guards.'' Genma chuckled.

''You're telling us! Is this what combat is like? I think I'm starting to rethink this.'' Izumo said apprehensively, ''It was just scary using a dead guy as a shield.''

''It's combat Izumo you're gonna get attacked. So that's what real combat is like huh?'' Izumo said nervously.

Kenji saw how nervous and apprehensive both his friends were and while he was glad he could fight alongside them and them having the chance to serve the Hokage and village he knew it would be a lot to take in when they saw combat for the first time. He was about to call for the medics to tend to the wounded or dying but after looking around for a bit he began to see that the arrow rain had actually killed all the medic-nin and he could only growl in anger at this.

''There's no certainties in combat.'' Kenji growled before looking at the other survivors who were sifting through the bodies of their fallen comrades to search for survivors.

Just then there was the sound of thunderous footsteps to their 12, 9 and 3 o'clocks and looking around them they all saw what looked like several company-sized element of Shinsengumi foot soldiers, being samurai the latter were all quipped with their katana. Some were seen holding their katanas and wakizashis in both hands, some were armed with kanabo clubs while the first few rows of each group had soldiers wielding long yari spears.

''All those capable of long range line up and attack!'' Ken ordered.

What remained of their battalion the long range lightning, fire and wind users to fire their respective elemental jutsus at the enemy but Ken noticed something was up when he saw the samurai all smirk as they were performing their hand seals. The ninja all go to attack but like with what happened with the Iwa platoons before they saw they couldn't fire off their respective elemental attacks. They attempted to do it again several times before Ken came to the conclusion that the gas attack was meant to disrupt their chakra networks and prevent them from using the elements to their advantage.

Naruto, Genma and Kurotsuchi had also came to that conclusion when they saw their comrades unable to attack.

''W-what the hell is going on?'' Naruto questioned fearfully as he tried to summon clones.

''No way...how is this possible?'' Kurotsuchi said worriedly as she tried to use her quicklime only for nothing to happen.

Genma wasn't faring any better either as he was unable to use his signature wind claws and windsword techniques.

''Seriously what the hell? Why can't we use jutsu?''

''What the heck is going on? Why are we unable to use our jutsu?'' an Iwa Chunin questioned angrily.

''This is some bullshit!'' a Kumo Jonin cried out.

That's when it hit Kenji as he figured that the gas attack on them really was a method of attack the Shinsengumi used to block off their chakra network and while he was confident in his sword and hand-to-hand combat fighting he knew that without his or his comrades ability to use elemental jutsu to their advantage meant only one thing and it was something he feared.

''We have to fight them on their terms.'' he said with a hint of anger in his voice, the sound of his voice enough to catch the attention of his team and the Gate Guards.

''What? What do you mean Senpai?'' Naruto questioned curiously.

''Yeah, what are you talking about?'' Kotetsu asked.

Kenji said nothing as he motioned for his team and his friends to follow him and he made his way to the front of the group of survivors. He reaches for his two ninjatos and holds his left one in his usual normal grip that his mother did and his right ninjato was held in the underhand grip his father used. Seeing his performing these actions Naruto, Kurotsuchi, Genma, Izumo, Kotetsu and the other ninja realized what they had to do now and they did the same. Naruto drew one of his father's kunai, Kurotsuchi drew her mother's katana, Genma drew a pair of kunai from his pouch, Izumo pulled out his signature oversized kunai blade which looked almost like a sword and Kotetsu took out his signature conch shell mace. Even Zabuza was with the Konoha shinobi had his signature beheading sword with him. Everyone else in the group saw this and they all drew their weapons and waited for Kenji to give them the go to charge. Seeing the shinobi drawing all their melee weapons the samurai all began to let out chants and battle cries at the shinobi. A second later their chants and battle cries were joined by the sound of war drums whose banging sounds filled the air. The sounds and rhythms of the drums were getting even more loud and intense that the Shinsengumi saw the shinobi were getting a little uneasy at the methodical drum playing and it was doing the job of unnerving them as most never heard the vicious and sense of impending doom their war drums created.

The two sides began taunting each other as the sounds of the drums picked up and knowing that the risk of fighting the samurai with bladed weapons Kenji closed his eyes and inwardly prayed for him, Naruto, Kurotsuchi, Genma, Kotetsu, Izumo, Mako and even Zabuza.

''Minato-sensei, Kushina-sensei, mom, dad. I pray for your protection please guide us to victory. May our survival be long, may our death be swift.'' Kenji thought before finally opening his eyes, ''Everyone we'll have to slice our away out of this. May Kami watch over us.''

''Mom, dad I hope you are watching and protecting us.'' Naruto thought to himself, a bit of sweat falling down his forehead.

''Mom, I hope that you won't be disappointed if I die just know I died a true kunoichi'' Kurotsuchi thought with visible nervous and fear in her expression.

''This is it, this is do or die time. I'll come back home to you mom, dad, Himiko.'' Genma thought nervously.

After a few seconds of mentally preparing themselves Kenji raised his left sword and pointed it toward the enemy.

''Charge!''

Everyone within the group let out a mighty battle cry and a split second later they all began charging toward the Shinsengumi forces who let out their own war cries before making their swords glow with their chakra and began charging back at the shinobi. The two sides charged full force toward each other and the only sound that matching their screams were thw thunderous sounds of their footsteps as they ran and after what seemed like an eternity both sides came within fifty feet of each other and taking advantage several dozen of the Shinsengumi took out their bows and strung arrows onto them and let the arrows fly toward the shinobi. Kenji, Naruto, Kurotsuchi, Zabuza, Izumo and Kotetsu managed to block the projectiles by raising their weapons but several of their comrades were struck in the chest and face killing them.

Though they lost a few more of their comrades the rest of the shinobi were not deterred and continued charging straight at the samurai and when their opponents came a bit closer all the Shinsengumi with yari spears pointed their weapons causing a few dozen of the ninja to impale themselves on the weapons. The sounds of flesh tearing and their death cries filled the air and another second would pass before both sides finally crashed into each other with what sounded like a thunderous boom. Kenji ran up to one samurai and even though his opponent was heavily armored Kenji skillfully ducked under the swing from his opponent's katana and follows up by taking one of his ninjatos to slice through the man' arms before thrusting the other into the man's exposed throat. He kicks the corpse aside and is greeted by a samurai charging him with his yari and raising his sword high he brings his ninjato in a downward swing causing the samurai to attempt to block it with his spear'a shaft only for Kenji' sword to slice clean through it and into his face cutting it open down to the bone.

Nearby Naruto was seen engaging two heavily armored samurai and having never faced opponents like this proved to be a huge challenge for the blonde. Both of the samurai would attempt a thrust into his gut but the young ninja catches both their katanas with the prongs of his fathers kunai and he found himself locked in a test of strength against two bigger and armored enemies. Growling in frustration Naruto felt the lactic acid burning in his arms as he was trying to force them back in vain but using what energy he had left he manages to bring his foot up and delivers a kick into the gut of one of his opponents sending the armored man backward.

With this chance he takes his free kunai and quickly jams the blade into his eye through his armor. The samurai couldn't do anything but scream in agony as Naruto twists the blade in deeper and with his other kunai he shoves it into his other eye before taking the other one and jams it into his exposed neck severing his spinal cord. Naruto heard some screaming coming from behind him and saw several more Shinsengumi foot soldiers charging at him with their swords drawn and before they could reach him he watches as Kurotsuchi and Genma rush up from behind him and attack the samurai charging at him.

Kurotsuchi parries a swing from one of the samurai and runs him through with her mother's sword while Genma jams his kunai into the exposed face of the other and he sighed in relied at seeing his girlfriend and brother just fine.

Before they could say anything to each other several more Shinsengumi foot soldiers came charging at them with spears in hand and without even looking at each other Naruto, Kurotsuchi and Genma charged back and after keeping their eyes on the tips of the yari the three of them ducked under the pointed ends and began work on taking the samurai out in a flurry of swings. With a kunai in hand Genma ducks under the yari and grabbing the shaft and swings his kunai downward cutting through the spear's shaft which surprises the samurai and he was too shocked at the move Genma did that he was left open for an attack from Kurotsuchi who swings her sword and decapitates the man. Naruto joins in and takes out the other samurai by using a strong kick to send the armored man away and he is quickly tagged team by the blonde and Genma who stab him multiple times in the exposed portions of his armor before Naruto steps around to get behind him and uses his father's kunai to slit his throat wide open. Another samurai charges at Genma but the brown-haired Jonin spits his senbon with enough force to pierce through the man's skull and send his body flying backward from the power of his technique.

Naruto drops another samurai and turned to face his two teammates and he could only grin madly at the ensuing chaos.

''So this is what war is like huh guys?'' joked the blonde.

''This is not the time Naruto!'' Kurotsuchi exclaimed as she found herself fighting another samurai.

''Yeah man we gotta focus!'' Genma quipped as he ran away from two samurai chasing him.

Before he could reply to his friends a few more samurai came charging at him and the blonde only grinned to himself as he began to enjoy tasting real combat.

''Alright bring it on then you clunky bastards!''

Far away from where the battle took place on a nearby hilltop Shisui was seen standing and observing the entire battleground and showed no visible emotions as he watched Shinsengumi foot soldiers and the shinobi slice each other to death. From what he was seeing though he could see the shinobi were losing more bodies than they could replace and soon he set his sights on Kenji. He saw how skillfully his former friend was cutting through bodies and he hoped that Kenji could keep up the momentum. If anyone was going to fight Mako or Kenji it was going to be him and he did not seemed fazed at the idea of potentially killing the two of them when they reunite. Not seeing them for nine years did leave an emotional scar on him but he knew that soon enough they will see that he was never dead all these years.

''The Kage were smart not to join these guys, we need them to prove that they belong in Lord Shishio's world at full strength. I can't wait to fight you Mako, Kenji to see how strong the two of you have become.''

He then placed a hand on his tanto and shunshins toward the battle ready to deliver the first death blow to the Allied Shinobi Forces

-Kage Summit Room-

Mako, A, Onoki, Haku, Rasa, Hokuto, Orochimaru, Ryuzetsu, Konan and Shibuki could only look in horror at the sight of the battle through a crystal ball and were apalled at what they were seeing. When the gas exploded all around their ninja they too were confused at what was going on and Orochimaru was the one to quickly deduce that it must be a poison gas attack as he was experience dealing with such weapons.

''This is insanity, this gas attack has the be the reason why our ninja can't use their elemental attacks! This is something I have never seen before in my years!'' Orochimaru exclaimed in pure shock.

''Unbelievable, these fiends use cheap tactics and strategy to bring down our numbers.'' Onoki said angrily.

''We need to send in more forces to back them up!'' Rasa said.

Mako, who remained silent the whole time finally spoke her part knowing the outcome of sending more ninja to assist their already decimated first battalion.

"No, doing so would only cause more of our own to and I trust Lord Orochimaru's hypothesis. Even I was able to put the pieces together so it can't just be some coincidence It seems that only the first division was affected so we should still be fine if the others don't get caught in the gas attack."

''We must send the second brigade to assist right now.'' Haku suggested, ''That section is led by Asuma Sarutobi and Kakashi Hatake of your village and they are two of your best so bringing them and ninja who can still use their elemental jutsu will turn the tide of this engagement.''

Mako knew that Haku was right because with what they can see through the crystal ball deep down she knew that it would be a matter of time before the first brigade was defeated and if that happens it could mean the potential death of her students, Kotetsu, Izumo and Kenji and that was something she absolutely did not want. Taking a deep breath she took a minute to think it over before giving the other village leaders her answer and her answer was something entirely different. Why send the second brigade and risk them getting destroyed when they can use the alternative route?

''I have an idea.''

Mako began to explain her idea to the Kage and village leaders and after a few minutes of discussion they all nodded with confident and proud smiles on their faces.

-Kumo Countryside-

Zabuza was seen taking on a group of about fifteen samurai and he wasn't breaking a sweat whatsoever. With his massive sword he effortlessly cleaves his way through them and grabs the last one and with his great strength twists the samurai's head with enough force to snap his neck.

''Haha! Is that all you got bastards?!'' Zabuza cried out in joy.

''Dammit no need to get all excited Momochi!'' Kenji said as he parried a swing from a samurai and runs the man through his armor with both his swords.

Before he could pull his blade out he heard a samurai yell as he charged toward him. He turns around while relinquishing his grips on his swords and quickly takes the kunai from his mouth and jams it into the samurai's exposed face killing him instantly. Kenji didn't even have time to collect himself before another samurai came charging toward he leans back to avoid a slash from the man's katana and responds by delivering a right hook into the man's face before going in for a clinch and brings the heavily armored man to the ground dazing him. With his opponent at his mercy Kenji pulls the man's menpo off and began to viciously and mercilessly punch the man's face several times and breaks his nose in the process.

Seeing his dazed opponent Kenji finishes it off by grabbing the cords to the man's kabuto and goes to strangle him with it and after almost a minute of struggling the man stops moving and laid still. Kenji looks ahead and sees Zabuza offering his hand and taking it the Kiri man helps his rival up.

Elsewhere in the battlefield Kurotsuchi found herself face to face with a female samurai who only sneers menacingly at her. The female warrior draws her katana and motions for Kurotsuchi to come at her.

''Let's see what you got little girl.'' the samurai woman spat.

Kurotsuchi charges at the samurai with her mother's sword she lunges forward with a thrust only for the samurai woman to parry the blow and the master swordswoman slices into Kurotsuchi's upper arm making her cry out in pain.

''Agh! Fuck that hurt!''

''Aw, did I hurt you honey?'' the samurai asked mockingly.

Filled with anger Kurotsuchi goes in for a slash with her sword only for the samurai woman to parry the attack and goes in for a thrust of her own and thankfully the Iwa girl learns quickly and gracefully twirls around the katana's tip and with a kunai she stabs the samurai woman in the side piercing through her armor.

''Ugh! You foolish girl!''

The samurai responds by backhanding Kurotsuchi causing her to drop her sword in the process and she follows up by lunging forward with her katana and without even thinking Kurotsuchi makes a poor attempt to block the thrust with her hands and the samurai's katana goes clean through her right hand. The sight of the sword piercing through her hand sent waves of shock that she only gasped at the pain as she couldn't find the energy to scream. The samurai woman noticed the look on Kurotsuchi's face and she smiled maniacally as she goes to finish the girl off by kicking her to the ground, grabbing a handful of her hair and prepared to thrust the katana right into the back of her neck only for Kurotsuchi to secretly take a kunai and thrusts the blade into her side and manages to take control of the situation and sends the woman down onto her knees in pain. The samurai was unable to do anything as she had dropped her katana in the process and failed to react to Kurotsuchi grabbing her head from behind.

''Aw, did I hurt you?'' Kurotsuchi said mockingly.

The Iwa girl then slowly, ever so slowly drags the kunai across the woman's neck who can only twitch from the action. Kurotsuchi backs off and watches as the corpse falls face first into the grass and not feeling satisfied she kneels down and begins to repeatedly stab the woman in the head out of anger and even though she reduced the head to mush she did not stop and didn't even notice that the fighting was beginning to die down and soon enough she felt a pair of arms wrap around her.

Feeling the presence Kurotsuchi swings her kunai around to stab whoever it was only to have her wrist grabbed by Naruto as it came close to hitting him in the face.

''Kuro-chan it's me take it easy!'' Naruto exclaimed.

Kurotsuchi felt a feeling of relief and gave Naruto a big hug. Naruto did not know how to respond to this and simply returned the hug.

''It's okay Kurotsuchi, I'm here don't worry.'' Naruto spoke softly.

A second later Genma, Zabuza, Kotetsu, Izumo and Kenji would walk over to the two young adults and they were all either covered in blood and dirt. All around them were the dead bodies of all the samurai that came at them as well as the dead bodies of all their fallen comrades.

''We won..'' Kurotsuchi whispered to herself.

''Yeah, we did.'' Naruto said as he lets her go.

''Goddamn, that was something else.'' Genma said between breaths.

''So this is what real combat feels like...'' Izumo said, obviously a bit shocked from the violence.

''This is insane...'' Kotetsu murmured.

''You guys wanna be gate guards again?'' the tired Kenji quipped.

He noticed a body nearby and taking a closer look at it Kenji saw that it was the chopped up body of the Iwa ninja who tried to pick a fight with him earlier and he frowned at this as he had lost the chance to make a new friend out of an old enemy of his. Naruto, Genma and Kurotsuchi looked around and saw that the fighting had come to an end and after seeing that besides them and the others it was clear that they were the only ones from first brigade left standing.

''Are we...the only ones left?'' Naruto questioned obvious worry and fear.

''This is just some crazy shit..'' Genma said, a sense of survivor's guilt coursing through his body.

''There's no mercy in war, people live and people die that's all there is to it.'' Kenji thought.

Just then the silence was filled with the sounds of war drums playing in a rhythm from earlier and the few surviving ninja felt a sense of dread and doom fill their souls and they turned around to face the forest where another massive group of samurai emerged all yelling in bravado. The speed and rhythm of their war drums picking up causing the survivors to get unrattled at the sound. While they had lost their brethren in the first group this particular group gave out cries of excitement and bravado and they all drew their swords and polearms ready to charge the shinobi.

Naruto, Kurotsuchi, Genma, Zabuza, Kotetsu, Izumo and Kenji all looked at each other and nodded.

''Mom, dad, pervy sage. If I die please don't be disappointed in me.'' Naruto thought with a frown.

''There's no way we can fight another group this large.'' Kurotsuchi said clutching her sword close.

''As a Kiri Jonin I shall live by the sword and die by the sword! Bring it on you bastards!'' Zabuza exclaimed.

''Oh shit...'' Kotetsu squealed.

''I wanna live!'' Izumo thought.

''Love you mom, dad, Himiko.'' Genma said to himself as he drew a pair of kunai.

With no other option Kenji drew his ninjatos and steps in front of his colleagues to lead the way.

''Prepare to fight. If we die, we die with honor.'' he said.

The seven ninjas could only watch as the group of samurai charged at them ready to kill and even though they were putting on a brave facade deep down they were all afraid as they watched death approach them. After a few seconds of charging the samurai came a few hundred meters of the group when a cube of sorts formed around a group of samurai and engulfed them in a cloud of smoke which reduces them to particles. Another group of Shinsengumi were surrounded by mirrors made of crystal and were soon impaled by multiple senbon while a wall of gold dust formed in front of a few samurai stopping them in their tracks before a streak of lightning zips by them and they all fall with their faces smashed open. Another group were killed by paper shuriken further reducing their numbers while a huge snake was seen swallowing a group whole.

The seven ninja were relieved at the sight of the carnage before them as they knew what was going on and they only watched on as the Shinsengumi were all slaughtered in many different ways.

''Well fuck.'' Genma quipped.

The coup de grace was delivered when a huge majestic destroyer flame was fired at another group of Shinsengumi and they were all incinerated in the blast.

A, Haku, Rasa, Onoki, Ryuzetsu, Orochimaru, Hokuto, Shibuki, Konan and Mako were seen standing in front of their ninja with looks of determination in their eyes and while only a few dozen Shinsengumi remained and while they were confronted by the five Kage and village leaders they showed no fear and charged them in defiance.

In the forest Shisui was seen standing next to a tree and the sight of the village leader's sudden appearance was a bit of a surprise to him as he did not expect to see them this soon.

''They appeared sooner than Lord Shishio and I expected. Oh well I'll show them I'm a force to be reckoned with.'' Shisui said as he placed his hand on his blade and prepares to use the teleportation jutsu.
