Chapter 7: Plans for Action
At Stadtfeld Manor…
Kallen covered her mouth with tears in her eyes while Lelouch had a look of disbelief in his eyes.
"I-"Sabrina started.
"RINA!"Kallen cried out.
Kallen runs quickly forward and hugged Sabrina, completely overjoyed.
"Ahahahaha!"Kallen sobbed with a smile."You're back!"
Sabrina hugged back her future mother, trying her best not to cry.
This was her birth mother, but from a different timeline.
"Hey, mum."Sabrina responded with a weak smile."I'm happy to see you too."
Lelouch walked forward and ruffled Sabrina's head.
"Hey, Sabrina. Welcome back."Lelouch chuckled."You're timing is perfect."
Kallen released Sabrina, so that her future daughter can hug Lelouch.
"Hi, dad."Sabrina answered."I've missed you both."
Kallen notice Sabrina had grown a few inches taller and more beautiful than the last time she or anyone else saw her.
"Wow. You've grown up."Kallen complemented."I remember you were shorter."
"Mum, I'm only sixteen."Sabrina remarked."But I'm still the same person from the last time you saw me. Nothing changed."
"As much as I like the three of us to catch up, I'm afraid that will have to wait."Lelouch declared."There is a problem."
"What problem?"Sabrina asked in confusion.
"The Kingdom of Zilkhstan had kidnapped Marrybell."Lelouch declared.
A shocked look appeared on Sabrina's face.
"What?!"Sabrina gasped in shock."Aunt Marrybell is in trouble?! How did-"
"It happened today in midday."Lelouch exclaimed."We are on our way to meet Prime Minister Kaguya to discuss the course of actions to take to rescue her."
Kallen then gives Sabrina a kiss on the forehead.
"But now that you're here, I'm sure things will turn out for the better."Kallen declared.
Sabrina fell silent at her future mother's words, but slightly smiled.
"Of course."Sabrina responded.
"We're going to see the Prime Minister of Japan?"Bertie spoke up.
Lelouch and Kallen brought their attention on Bertie.
"Oh. I almost forgot. Lelouch and Kallen, this is Bertie."Sabrina introduced."His from the future like I am."
Bertie went off his chair to go over to Lelouch and Kallen to bow at them.
"It's a pleasure to meet you both, Master Lelouch and Lady Kallen vi Britannia."Bertie declared in a shy yet formal tone.
Both Lelouch and Kallen smiled at Bertie.
"It's nice to meet you too, Bertie."Kallen responded.
"You don't need to call us by my birth surname since I renounced my right to the Britannian Throne."Lelouch insisted."Just call us by our names."
"Okay."Bertie said with a nod.
Sabrina looked at Lelouch and Kallen.
"Mum, dad, there's something I have to tell you."Sabrina declared."It's…It's about what happened in the future."
At the Kingdom of Zilkhstan…
Shalio took an elevator to one of the deeper levels of the prison within the castle and soon reached a small, dark chamber with several people in white coats working on computers.
But the most notable feature of the room was a single prisoner hanging from some restraints on a wall near the back of the room, underneath a single bright light.
A bloodied and bruised Oldrin Zevon.
Oldrin panted, trying her best to ignore the painful wounds in her body.
Her pilot suit was broken and revealed a bit of her chest from the beatings she received.
"Hello again, Knight of Empress Marrybell."Shalio said.
Oldrin weakly raised her head.
Shalio gestured to one of the scientists, who lowered a monitor displaying footage of the Amanecer in combat, fighting against rogue Britannian forces.
This particular clip was of the Amanecer performing a powerful spin kick to strike down a pair of Vincent Plutons.
"Tell me, can you see?"Shalio asked."These are the manoeuvres you used in your battles in Asia and the EU."
Oldrin glared at Shalio, but didn't say anything.
"You were born into the noble Zevon family, but left and joined the military when the family was about to be taken over by your Uncle Oiaguro. As a traditional noble, you have a lot of noble pride, but you're also a hard-worker."Shalio exclaimed."You are conflicted between your aristocratic belief that 'the people should be protected' and your duty of suppressing terrorism caused by those very people. However, your conviction to 'protect the smiling faces of the weak' is enough of a reason for you to fight. Your goal was to become a 'true knight'."
"Why are you telling me all this?"Oldrin retorted."Your subjects are nothing but fiends with the power of Geass that they use to spread chaos instead of peace."
"It wouldn't be wise for you to try and compare your Empress better than anyone else, Lady Zevon."Shalio informed."She has the power of Geass too, doesn't she?"
Oldrin paled at Shalio's respond.
"Your Empress' Geass is a harsher version of Prince Lelouch's called 'Absolute Submission'."Shalio sneered."It gave her the ability to enslave anyone she used it on, turning her targets into mindless dolls that are forced to follow her every order and possess no ego of their own. It manifests itself in her left eye when activated."
"H-How do you know all this?"Oldrin questioned.
"I have my resources."Shalio responded and frowned."But I really wish you would answer my questions."
"Why...should I?"Oldrin scowled.
"You have a reason now."Shalio said with an unnerving smile."We have Marrybell."
A hateful look appeared on Oldrin's face.
"You're more despicable...than I thought."Oldrin muttered.
"Yes, I am."Shalio agreed with a blunt tone."I will do whatever is necessary to become the greatest warrior in the world. I need pure strength to protect those dearest to me...as well as unadulterated guile and sheer cunning, such as your own."
The young King of Zilkhstan raised his arms up a bit and made unnerving movements with his fingers in front of his visor.
Shalio then lifted his visor, revealing his pale blue eyes, which were filled with rage.
"But what's clear about you…"Shalio started as he reached for a sash wrapped around his waist."Is that you only choose to become a knight in order to protect people dear to you."
Oldrin's body instinctively hardened as it sensed what was coming, and she felt the cable that had been jammed in her spine.
"If you want to protect Marrybell, then tell me!"Shalio demanded in anger.
With those last two words, he lashed out with the sash, which turned out to have multiple strands with razor-sharp edges and brass weights on the ends.
"Tell me, so that I may take all of your strength!"Shalio growled.
Shalio proceeded to whip Oldrin repeatedly with enough force to shred her clothing and cut deep into her flesh.
Oldrin winced as she was tortured once more, but refused to cry or scream to prevent herself from looking weak in front of the tyrannical king.
Back in Japan…
Sabrina revealed to her loved ones what occurred in her timeline as well as the death of her mother, Empress Nunnally and the fake Zero. Also, that the Keepers of Order were behind all of this.
Lelouch, Kallen and Sayoko were startled at what had occurred in Sabrina's timeline.
"So the me in your future is gone?"Kallen said in shock.
Sabrina nodded with her eyes shut, unable to speak about losing her mother.
"So are Nunnally and Suzaku. Including New Pendragon."Lelouch scowled."Damn it. This is far worse than I expected."
Sayoko walked forward with Baby Sabrina in her arms.
"I'm very sorry that your visit to us hasn't come in a better time, Lady Sabrina."Sayoko apologised.
"You don't need to apologise, Aunt Sayoko."Sabrina assured kindly."I've helped you all get a brighter future and it is my job to make sure it doesn't get ruined."
Sabrina's eyes widen a bit at seeing her infant self.
"Is that…"Sabrina started.
"Sabrina meet little Sabrina."Lelouch introduced with a smirk.
Sabrina went over to Baby Sabrina, who started at her with a curious expression.
"Hello, me."Sabrina chuckled."How old is she?"
"Just turned one years old a day ago."Kallen exclaimed."We had a picnic party and one in Ashford."
"That's nice."Sabrina responded.
"Going back to the problem at hand."Lelouch complemented."Sabrina, have you told anyone of what occurred in the future of your timeline?"
"I have already told Empress Tianzi, Xingke and Prime Minister Kaguya of it when I arrived at the Vermillion Forbidden City."Sabrina stated."So, they're aware of the incident and the new enemies at large."
Bertie looked at Lelouch and Kallen.
"Hey, Lelouch and Kallen."Bertie spoke up."Is there a possibility that the kidnapping of Empress Marrybell and the Glinda Knights has something to do with the Keepers of Order?"
"Now that I think about it, they could be behind this."Lelouch suggested.
Suddenly, Kallen got a message on her phone causing her to take it out to read it.
"It's Prime Minister Kaguya."Kallen stated."Everyone is assembled."
At the Kyoto Aquarium…
Nunnally marvelled at the many types of fish within the aquarium that flowed from either side freely and rock outcroppings gave refuge to the smaller fishes in the glass containers.
Various corals and anemones lined the walls, while centre was a large, open space with splattering of seaweed.
The chlorine-like smell in the aquarium felt refreshing and clean.
That was the first time she has ever been to an aquarium, the excitement within her aroused.
Nunnally put her hand onto the icy cold glass while she was watching a group of fishes chasing each other in the water.
When the former Princess of Britannia lifted her hand, a steamy handprint was left on the glass.
The aquarium was filled by the sound of fishes gliding in the water, ripples were formed on the water surface when Nunnally looked up.
The sound of laughter from the visitors inside the aquarium was loud and clear.
Zvi carefully moved Nunnally's wheelchair to the glass container that showed the clown fishes, blue regal tanks and various other species from the ocean.
"Do you like it here, Nunnally?"Zvi asked.
"It's wonderful, Zvi."Nunnally remarked in joy."I never knew there was so many different other fishes in the sea. It's beautiful."
Zvi's cheeks turned pink at Nunnally's words as he sat in a nearby seat.
But his copper orange eyes were focused on the former princess that was close to him, but was looking at the glass container.
"Y-Yeah. It is."Zvi responded with a shy smile."Though I actually see something else more beautiful."
Nunnally brought her attention away from the glass container and glanced at Zvi.
"Really?"Nunnally asked."What is it?"
Nunnally and Zvi quietly looked at each other.
There were various emotions growing within Nunnally at this very moment as her cheeks turned pink and her heart started beating.
Regardless of the painful memories that she endured in life, Zvi's warm smile made her forget all about it.
Closing her eyes, Nunnally craned her neck up.
"If this is a dream, don't wake me up."Nunnally prayed in her thought.
And when she felt Zvi's lips on hers, she knew she wasn't.
Meanwhile…
Lelouch had a frustrated look and had his arms folded as he sat in a limo with Kallen and Baby Sabrina while Sabrina and Bertie sat in the opposite side.
"Say Sabrina, what time is it?"Lelouch questioned.
Sabrina took out her iPhone to check the time.
"15:15pm."Sabrina read and glanced at her future father."Why do you ask?"
"He has an hour and forty five minutes."Lelouch mumbled.
Sabrina and Bertie glanced at Kallen for an explanation.
"Nunnally is on a date with a boy."Kallen admitted with a smirk.
A surprised look appeared on Sabrina's face.
"Oh, really?!"Sabrina gushed excitedly."Who is it?!"
"A friend from Ashford Academy."Kallen exclaimed and smiled mischievously."If things work out-"
Lelouch scowled at his wife's words.
"Not helping, Kallen."Lelouch retorted.
"Are these dates usually mean the romance of courtship?"Bertie guessed.
Lelouch gives Bertie a frown.
"Just asking."Bertie responded with a nervous smile.
Sabrina went closer to Bertie to whisper his ears.
"It is, Bertie."Sabrina whispered."Believe it or not, but my dad was usually busy gambling and doing chess matches against nobles to get money for him and his sister that he completely ignored the various admirers that he had."
Bertie placed his hands over his mouth to prevent from laughing at Sabrina's story.
"Really?"Bertie snorted.
"What are you talking about?"Lelouch asked suspiciously.
"Nothing!"Sabrina and Bertie answered in unison.
The limo soon arrived outside Prime Minister Sumeragi's Official Residence.
The driver came out to let the Lamperouge Family and Bertie out of the vehicle.
Kallen held her infant daughter as she followed her companions to the building.
Two guards bowed at the approaching group.
"Welcome."A first guard declared.
"Prime Minister Sumeragi is expecting you."the second guard stated.
The guards opened the entrance to the Prime Minister of Japan's residence causing the group to go inside.
Inside the residence was stylish though not very posh and had furnitures based on Japanese style.
The small group soon arrived inside the office of the Prime Minister of Japan.
"Welcome, Lelouch and Kallen."Kaguya greeted kindly."It's been a while."
"Indeed it has been, Prime Minister Kaguya."Lelouch agreed with a nod.
In Pendragon…
A scoff escaped Carine's mouth as she watched the report of Empress Marrybell's kidnapping before putting the TV off with her remote.
"I knew this would happen."Carine retorted.
Carine went to sit in one of the chairs near Lila and Guinevere as a maid poured tea for them before walking away.
"I'm sure it'll work out somehow."Lila assured.
"I did warn Marrybell that the Kingdom of Zilkhstan wasn't interest in making peace with Britannia."Guinevere retorted."But she said she would follow her own opinions."
"Yeah? But look at how that worked out."Carine scowled and took a sip from her cup of tea."Does Cornelia and Lord Guilford both attend to rescue her?"
"Odysseus has given them permission to take action."Guinevere said and frowned deeply."No doubt he has given Zero and the Black Knights the order to aid them."
Carine became unhappy at the mention of Zero and the Black Knights.
"Can't believe Marrybell would let that damn masked terrorist and his followers her support after everything they did."Carine muttered.
"You shouldn't say such awful things about Marrybell, Carine."Lila said with a frown."Since she became Empress, the world has become peaceful than it ever was in decades."
Lila ate a iced star shaped biscuit as Carine rolled her eyes.
"Oh, look who's talking."Carine commented rudely."You are the very person that Schneizel used as his grand puppet and easily got manipulated by him to use the Damocles Key to wipe us out with the F.L.E.I.J.A."
This caused Lila to become upset.
"Are you saying you're any better, Carine?"Lila argued."You got manipulated by Schneizel as well and ready to follow his every order since you were so desperate to kill Lelouch and Nunnally!"
"Don't bother mentioning those commoner twits!"Carine retorted."They deserved to get burned to dust after killing our father!"
"Our father never cared about any of us! Not even Schneizel!"Lila snapped."You should realise that by now as everyone else!"
"Well, Clovis was your brother!"Carine shouted."Yet strangely, you don't ask for Zero's head to be delivered in a platter!"
"I won't forgive Zero for killing my brother, but at least I'm trying to be a better person than he was!"Lila growled.
Guinevere got annoyed and then started yelling at hearing her younger half-sisters argue with each other.
"That's enough, you two! I'm fed up of hearing the two of you argue in a time of crisis!"Guinevere demanded in an irritated tone while placing down her tea cup."Marrybell is now the ruler of Britannia whether we like it or not. Now she is held captive by this ancient and dangerous kingdom. So, now we can all do is hope that she gets out of this problem alive and without harm."
Carine and Lila looked down in silence, knowing their half-sister was right.
"I don't want to hear anymore arguments."Guinevere said sternly."Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, Guinevere."Carine and Lila answered in unison.
Jeremiah, Anya, Sayoko and Lloyd went to visit Prime Minister Odysseus in his office.
On the left side of the Prime Minister of Britannia was Nonette while on his right side was Tohdoh and Cornelia.
"It was Empress Marrybell and the Glinda Knights' plight that brought us here."Jeremiah declared.
"Of course."Odysseus responded with a hint of worry.
"It was exactly as it was reported."Nonette complemented."The incident happened in the hashvess refugee camp. According to the information of the Black Knights' escorts, the enemy's forces included multiple Knightmares as well as one unidentified machine."
"Unidentified?"Anya said in confusion.
"At first, this was thought to be a work of a local resistance group."Cornelia declared."But they're far too good for that."
"Too good to be random happenstance, you mean."Sayoko corrected.
"They had training in combat strategy as well as tactics."Tohdoh admitted.
"But they could've beaten Lady Oldrin and the Glinda Knights-"Jeremiah started.
Nonette talk out an iPad to look at the information gathered about the Knightmare that beat Oldrin's.
"According to the record, it seems that the additional machine is completely unknown, one we have no data on."Nonette stated.
"An unknown machine?!"Lloyd said in excitement."Wahoo!"
Anya gives Lloyd a weird look.
"Do we know what the perpetrator was after?"Sayoko questioned.
"Not at this."Tohdoh responded."There was an abduction, but no one has claimed responsibility for it."
"However, it would seem they were after Marrybell."Odysseus complemented.
"Empress Marrybell?"Sayoko asked.
"What makes you say that?"Lloyd questioned.
"Hashvess is in a complicated situation, bordered as it is by five other nations."Odysseus explained."None of which are wealthy by any means and in fact, most are in need of the W.H.A's aids."
"Right, and the abduction of Empress Nunnally would only jeopardise that support."Sayoko commented.
"In summary; this isn't someone who desires aid, but someone who wants Marrybell."Odysseus stated."Though I personally suspect a neighbouring country, Zilkhstan."
"Zilkhstan?"Anya scoffed with a frown."The so called 'Land of Warriors'?"
"With the area's original ethic groups, who were living in this area approximately 300 years ago."Nonette explained."One which came to be through the integration of various foreign migrants, hailing from Europia, Africa and elsewhere. Once a lush land, Zilkhstan was attacked countless times by its neighbours. It's history was one of fighting to drive out invaders, over and over again. But then the river that have been the source of their prosperity dried up and Zilkhstan's fall into decline began."
"Perhaps it's because of that history Zilkhstan boasted so many skilled fighters which were then hired by so many other countries to fight their battles until Zilkhstan became the mercenary kingdom it is today."
"Ooh, so that's it!"Lloyd remarked happily."That explains everything!"
Anya looked at Lloyd in confusion.
"Look, wouldn't you say it's peaceful nowadays?"Lloyd asked."If mercenary work was what put food on your table, wouldn't you be going hungry right now?"
"Indeed."Cornelia responded, agreeing with Lloyd."And yet, Zilkhstan continues to reject overtures for both membership in the UFN and from the organisations like the W.H.A."
"Due to again, historical context, I imagine."Odysseus replied."Zilkhstan has someway out of poverty. My intuition is telling me that there must be a connection between this kingdom and Marrybell's abduction."
"Ah, I see."Sayoko responded."So that's why you summoned us."
"Can't just poke around without proof."Lloyd remarked."After all might cause an international incident."
"But if we have a few certain people going there as civilians, but posing as tourists, we could get that proof."Jeremiah suggested with a smile.
Odysseus smiled."Precisely."
"I hate to think of it as relying on civilians."Tohdoh stated."But if it's a special agent, a brilliant scientist, the loyal man of Zero and the former Knight of Six, there's no one more reliable."
Lloyd, Sayoko, Jeremiah and Anya smiled at each other.
"Let's do it."Anya insisted.
"You can count on us."Sayoko assured kindly.
Jeremiah nodded in agreement.
"Should your investigation team uncover proof, a second team is being put together to rescue Marrybell and the Glinda Knights."Odysseus declared."Cornelia will spear head it."
"That way if anything goes wrong, I can always claim to be acting alone."Cornelia admitted and clenched her fists."But more than that I want to save my sister! I want to save Marrybell with my own hands!"
Jeremiah glanced at Cornelia at hearing her sentence.
Ever since Emperor Schneizel's defeat and Euphemia's return, the former 2nd Princess of Britannia had retired from leading the Royal Guard and became a teacher to teach young people how to pilot a Knightmare to redeem herself of her past mistakes.
After all, she was the one that helped Schneizel try and make the Black Knights betray Zero which would've let everyone to the path of a corrupted future.
But gratefully, none of that happened.
Because of their saviour; Kitsune AKA Sabrina vi Britannia.
"Departures in three days."Odysseus informed."All arrangements should be made then."
Lloyd, Sayoko, Jeremiah and Anya all bowed at the Prime Minister of Britannia before leaving.
Back in Ashford Academy…
Euphemia hummed quietly as she helped Shirley, Nina and Rivalz in the garden area of campus.
The former Princess of Britannia carefully filled a watering can to gently pour water for some amaryllis, cornflowers and hollyhocks.
Though deep down, Euphemia was deeply worried about Marrybell.
"I hope Marrybell will come back safe and sound."Euphemia stated with a hint of worry.
"It will be alright, Euphemia."Nina assured.
"Hey, don't worry, Euphie."Rivalz chuckled."Zero and the Black Knights will make sure she and the Glinda Knights will."
"No need to worry, right?"Shirley said with a wink.
Euphemia smiled at her friends.
"Right."Euphemia agreed with a nod.
