Things I no longer regret, helping Hinata. Not making Mika a main medic, but still giving him medical skills... stuff like that.
I love this story, and I am so proud of it.
This chapter could change a lot.
"UGHHHHH!" Mika groaned, looking at the flurry of sealing information before him. "Why are there so many forms of sealing, so many rules, a blend of art and science?"
Despite his whining, Mika dived into seal work with a fervent energy. Reading, memorizing, theorizing and more on all he could managed. With all his efforts he managed to barely, barely get through level three in one month. Only to discover that each Level was said, according to the Uzumaki writer of the main tomes he was reading, could take on average three times longer to master. That was discouraging.
Between that, his ANBU training, sparring with the Hyuugas and various swords wielders, he developed tremendously in the passing days. As did Hinata, who developed masterfully in all skills but mostly her medical powers. Since Yugao was teaching them both the basics of human medical abilities when she could, Hinata evolved at an incredible pace as an overall medic. Both of them could use the mystic palm by the end of his first month during his sealing training, and both were marked as officially Low jonin level though not in rank due to low missions.
Tsunade, in all her wisdom, preferred them to mostly be training in their specialities. In her own words, "I want you to have enough of the extra skills you need to actually pass the missions you are given. That is why you are mostly sticking around monitoring the Leaf, to get use to being body guards and learning pro-tical before you are forced into dire straights. Don't worry, the hard missions will start soon enough."
Mika was getting rather comfy in his life, with his only missions being patrol duty with Yugao and Hinata, studying and mastering all he could...
So, that was when life decided to kick his ass.
Summoned by the Hokage, along side Hinata and Yugao, the woman looked at them through peeked fingers, power emanating from her every pore. "Have either of you heard of the Kurama clan?" Mika realized a genjutsu was covering the room, masking a presence, but he said nothing as there was no way Tsunade did not know of it.
Mika nodded, as did Hinata. "They are, or were, a powerful clan of genjutsu masters." Mika started. "I know I envy them, they were something to be feared, I still cannot find anything on good genjutsu, it's partially why I moved to Sealing full time."
Hinata sighed. "Father told me that they were suffering from a lack of talent, nothing more than Chunin as of late."
"Yes... what you do not know is that they have a bloodline trait, one of such magnitude even my grandfather would fear fighting them. " Mika and Hinata both recoiled, something that powerful was a real threat. "Every so often, they produce a ninja that can inflict real wounds via genjutsu, to be simple about it."
Mika's jaw was scraping the floor. "Holy fuck... that's... a lot."
"Agreed. They had one such girl, her name Yakumo, blessed and cursed with that gift. In her, it manifested as a Id, a secondary self that... grew in such power that it killed her parents in a fire and was sealed away by her mentor. You see, the girl has a weak body, and wanted to be a ninja still. Like Lee, she was set to be taught by-"
"Kureani?" The ANBU kids said, turning to the genjutsu.
The genjutsu shimmered and the woman in question revealed herself. "Yes, I taught her... but I was forced to seal her gifts. Lady Tsuande said you two are the most gifted ninja she has seen in generations, I wanted to see if you two could find a way to help her, as the seal is weakening and if it snaps we might be forced to kill her. A fresh set of eyes, even inexperienced as you two are, could never hurt.'" Though she said that, Mika saw nothing but doubt in her eyes.
Mika held out his hand. "I need her file."
Tsunade tossed him the girl's file and Mika laughed, as did Hinata.
"What?" Tsunade said.
Hinata pulled off her mask as did Mika. "It's a simple matter, but you have no real mastery of the Gentle Fist. Mika could pass for a Hyuuga, he knows my style almost as well as I do from sparing me. Mix that with our sealing and healing knowledge and the answer is clear."
Mika nodded. "Really, it's almost in your face. ANBU training helped as well, what with the interrogation training and getting an understanding of the Psycho Mind Transmission." Mika turned to Kurenai. "Your seal was a bad idea, it only festered the Id, letting it grow. The Third recommended it, and he was a fool for doing so. No, what would have been better is to Use the Gentle fist to seal her chakra while someone seeps into her mind and excises the Id. It would be exceedingly dangerous, but still it would be feasible. Afterwards, just give her protein shakes and exercises to put her back on track, the actual Id was draining her physical energy to anchor itself."
Tsunade was gaping at them both. "This was a test, to see if you could put together all you have learned, to be honest I half expected you to fail. I knew, from my own studies what you said, but this just came to my attention at all. That you did this, and managed to figure it out... well, let's just say I am uping your training, it is clear you are not being challenged enough."
And with that, all seemed well...
So that was when lightning struck the tower, Mika felt it (They all did) and so he flicked out the Rajin and deflected the energy entirely. Only, something was wrong, and the energy was too spiritual in nature. It sent a shock through him, sending him flying into the wall to convulse in agony... and then it faded away, as Tsunade's warm healing hands washed over his body.
"That was the girl, wasn't it?"
Tsunade nodded. "Her seal is breaking... and that was the power of her illusions... we need to contain or kill her. I am the only seal and medical master here, I can adjust what is needed, but I came to the same conclusion as you did. I never expected you both to pass my little test." She sighed. "You are lucky to be alive, if I had not saved you in time your heart might have failed. The actual damage is light, even to your heart, it was just the shock that stopped it.
I need you and Hinata, since you know the village well, to find the girl and capture her. Hinata should be able to undo her illuisions, and you both have enough skill to capture her. Kurenai will assist, but you must bring her to me to heal. I must contain the worry here, and tend to the damage she causes.
Are we clear?"
They all nodded and Mika stood. "Is there a kill order?" Kurenai gasped.
"Yes, but only as the utter last resort."
"Fine... and Kurenai, I have no want to hurt her, but we will be forced to if she hurt more people." Kurenai shivered, but nodded. "Let's go." And so they did, rushing into the world, to find the girl they needed to save from literally herself.
Tsunade smiled as the others fled. "You two, Hinata I want you to be a Hokage to remember. This was training for that and Mika,... for all you want to be... I hope I was right."
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
