Chapter 20 "The gathering of the end"
Part 3 "The world in flames"
Gendo stood alone in the cages looking at 01 as if was a person in front of him.
"So you won't speak to me?" He asked at the towering robot but he didn't get any reply from it.
"After all I have given, after all I sacrifice for us this how you go?" He continued. "I tried your way , I tried to enjoy my life without you for once, but I couldn't, I couldn't lived a moment where you weren't there and telling me that everything will be alright...I... just.. couldn't do it." The silence from opposite side still continued.
Gendo sighed and looked down at the platform. "I am a leader of broken people. Everything was going perfect, everyone was supposed to play their role so I could achieve my goals but...one thing let to the other and now we are where we are, where everyone is doing their own thing without me able to do something. I feel powerless, I feel like am being laughed by someone else , not by SELLE but by something else . I don't know how or why but it can do it and scares me what could be worse than what we are facing." He raised his head at the robot with an angrily expression.
" Of course you don't want me to tell you this. You want him to tell you what is happening, because it's him that you want right now." He took a moment of silence to calm a bit. " In the back of mind I always feared that you might not want this but I continued regardless because I loved Yui." Gendo could hold his tears anymore. " I loved with all my heart and now you deny my love because of your goals and your ambitions." He calmed again for a minute.
" One thing which I also feared, was him . I often hated the idea that a part of me was inside of him. I didn't want think in what kinda person will he be when he grow up. That's why I send him away, so that he could at least lose some of my trades . But when he came back he wasn't any different from me. Of course, this one comes from another place but that doesn't matter because he still has experienced the same pain as before and saw what the other side truly looks like. I can't lie that I am not jealous of him , he hasn't only experience things that no normal human could have achieved in his life but he managed to surpass the one way I couldn't. He found a way to enjoy life, to treasure what life gives him regardless the pain."
Gendo turned his back against the robot and headed towards the exit. " I will reunite with you Yui, one way or the other. Not because you want it but because I want to feel that same feeling I was robbed all those years ago when you left this plain of existence. The feeling of loving something and being loved back. I really missed that feeling."
On their way to Tokyo 3, Shinji explained Asuka the dream he is keep having lately.
"When I went into that coma I had a terrifying dream. It wasn't anything I had dream of up to that point. It was you and about to get married in beach similar to the one which spilled us out and everyone we knew was there."
Asuka tried to hide her blush at the last part but she wasn't mad if anyone saw her.
"At first it looked like the best dream I had in while but it quickly become a nightmare. Everyone started melting into LCL the sea from clean blue became this dirty red. Even your appearance didn't stay intact, your face lost its beauty and the only thing that was left was a talking skull. To make matters worse, the scenery around us started to decay. Before we exploded I hugged for one last time us we turned into dust. In most dreams this is where it should have stopped but it continued. Then, from the ashes of the world a white skeleton appeared holding a spear and from the other side a black knight engaged the skeleton in a duel. They always exchange blows but neither of them was able to get the upper hand. The dream always end when they are about to trow their final blow."
Asuka looked Shinji with wonder and confusion. "In all honesty, I would have said that you play to much video games but we aren't strangers to fucked up stuff so hear my thoughts on the matter: Dreams usually are combination of our feelings and our thoughts or just random shit the brain decides to produce from experiences. But one in a million chances our dreams might prophecie something that might happen."
"So I have to gamble wherever I am grazy or not?"
"Listen here Norstadamus I didn't study mediums in high school, this what I think from what I have heard."
The two continued the road without ever noticed the weird feeling which the place started having, until Shinji spotted a familiar silver's hair face.
"So you have finally arrived." Said Shinji with a serious tone.
"I have been waiting for a while on meeting you Shinji Ikari." Said the figure.
A.N: A small chapter but I think it provides the text that is needed to continue the story. Plus I loved writing about Gendo going a bit phyco at first.
