Esben is the most restless, and when his thoughtless actions get them kidnapped by pirates, they either work together with the two other prisoners they meet, or perish on the Dark Sea. It doesn't help that a certain number of these pirates bear a serious grudge against one of the other inmate's parents.

Nia is tired of waking in the middle of the night smelling smoke. But she can't simply leave her brother-in-law to burn, no matter her father's grumbling.
