Heyyyyyy. I realized barely anyone ships Commander Root with someone. So I decided to add to the small amount that has Root shipped with someone. If anyone's concerned I'll drop this, then let me tell you, I won't ever. Though updates may be slow at times.

Storytime!

~Two hundred or so years ago~

A young girl with hair the color of a cherry blossom and who looked no taller that 3 feet with wolf ears on the top of her head, ran thru the cherry grove trees, running from her friends and sister in a game of tag. They continue to play tag and a few others before they stopped and went home, the sun was setting.

"Rosalina, Rosetta!" Her mother calls. Little Rosalina runs to meet her mother and older brother, Ginseng. The girl smiled at her brother, it wasn't often she got to see him. He smiled back, patting her head. Rosalina's sister, Rosetta, dashed toward home, stopping for a moment to drag Rosalina along with her. Her mother laughed at the way Rosalina was trying to get out of her sisters' iron-like grip. She went to follow the to youngsters inside, but right then an explosion occurred, knocking her off her feet. The people of the little town in the cherry grove began to panic, rushing outside to see what happened.

Little Rosalina dash to her mother's side upon seeing her fall. "Run Rosalina!" Her mother shouts. Rosalina flinched, her mother had never raised her voice unless the situation was dire. She hesitated, looking at her brother Ginseng. He nodded and she grabbed her sisters', who had followed Rosalina outside, hand and ran away from where the explosion had set off.

They had run for a while and were no longer in the cherry grove of home. Rosetta was ready to cry by the time they found a cave to serve as a temporary home. Rosalina tried to cheer her sister up, but to no avail. Soon after they had found shelter, a storm came over, whipping the girls with wind and battering the trees with torrents of rain.

After the storm passed, Rosetta was calmer than earlier and volunteered to search for food. Rosalina agreed to stay put while her sister looked for edible plants and nuts. Not long after Rosetta left, a scream rang out. Wide-eyed, Rosalina ran out of the cave and ran fast towards where she had heard her sister scream. When she got there, she saw several people examining her sisters' motionless body. Wide-eyed, Rosalina tried to escape but her foot broke a fallen tree branch, alerting Rosetta's killers. Rosalina looked over her shoulder and saw one of the people raise an odd object and tighten their grip. Something went out of the thing and it collided with her back, and making black eat away at her vision. One of the killers walked up to her and the last thing she heard before the darkness ate her sight, was, "She'll do."

~Present~

Rosalina woke up in her cell in Fowl manor's dungeon, sweating like crazy and gasping for air. She had gotten slightly used to that nightmare over the hundred or so years that she had served the Fowl family but it still scared her everything and it made her question why she was alive instead of her sister, Rosetta. "It's just the past." She told herself, "Just the past." Rosalina hadn't ever grown since that day, she was still around three feet in height.

The cell door opened and the human girl named Juliet came in. "Time to wake- oh you're already awake." She said. "Well, you know the usual, Rose." Over the years of Juliet being her cell keeper they had become friends. Juliet had ignored how strange Rosalina was when they first met, finding a lot of common interests, they had soon became best friends. 'Rose' being a nickname given to her by Juliet. Rosalina nodded to show that she knew what Juliet was talking about. "Perfect! I'll leave the door open for you. Meet me upstairs soon!" And then she was gone. Rosalina smiled slightly then got ready for the day. Another day of servitude. She thought bitterly. Even if Juliet was her best friend, she couldn't stop the ache of a home long gone.

Rosalina quickly got ready and met Juliet where she said she was going to be. "So, how's things aboveground?" Rosalina asked. Juliet sighed, "I think Artemis and Dom have lost their minds, they keep talking about fairy-folk and about capturing one- which I think is wrong by the way." She added, noticing her subtle change in emotions. "Anything else?" Rosalina said, wanting to know more about this 'fairy that her master was going to catch. Juliet shook her head, "No, but I'm convinced that some screws are loose in their heads." Rosalina chuckled at that. "You know, you might not be wrong there. Master Artemis has been acting strange ever since... well, his mother..." her words trailed off. "Yeah, the arctic expedition." Juliet said.

Rosalina and Juliet stayed silent for a while until Juliet said, "well, I have to go. I'm in charge of fixing up one of the cells for the fairy." Rosalina waved goodbye to her friend and began the day's work.

~Time skip. (Because I'm lazy af right now)~ Rosalina.

A few days ago, Artemis Fowl had left the house with butler in tow, saying that they'd come back soon and they hadn't come back yet. Rosalina and Juliet began to worry, what if Artemis and Domovi had died? What would they do then? One evening, Rosalina was just about to be at the end of her rope of patience when the front door swung open, startling her and almost making her drop the bread she was carrying.

Rosalina quickly set down the bread and dashed to the door, hoping that it was who she thought in was. "Good evening, Rosalina." A familiar voice said. She stopped and saw Artemis standing in the doorway. She looked at a huge person next to Artemis and saw the possible 'fairy' unconscious and slung over his shoulder, opting instead to address her master, "Welcome back, young master Fowl. Dinner will be ready soon." The hulking figure beside Artemis loomed over Rosalina and he said, "I'd better see my sister in one piece. "Why would I hurt Juliet?" Rosalina said calmly, even though she was trembling on the inside. "Oh I don't know, escape perhaps?" He growled. Rosalina had had enough of the conversation and went back to the kitchen, saying, "Dinner will be ready in a bit."

After dinner and putting the elf, as Artemis identified it as, in the cell specially designed for the fairy, Rosalina went to greet the elf. She walked to their cell and sat outside it, waiting for the elf to regain consciousness. Now that she looked closer at the fairy, she was pretty sure that it was a female and no taller than she.

Rosalina waited for quite some hours for the she-elf to wake up, meanwhile, Rosalina had left for a brief time to make something for the elf to eat. When she returned with the food, she saw that the she-elf was awake. "Hello miss elf." Rosalina said, opening the cell door. "Where am I?" She asked. "I'm sorry, I not allowed to say that... are you hungry by any chance?" Rosalina said, staring at her name tag and wondering why the symbols seemed so familiar. "It better not have your Mud-man chemicals in it." She replied, eyeing Rosalina warily. "Holly. Your name is Holly- er, yes, there are no chemicals, atleast not that I know of." Rosalina blurted out upon remembering what the symbols were. The she-elf looked surprised. "But that gnome-ish. How..." Rosalina looked away, seemingly embarrassed, she hadn't meant to say that out loud.

Rosalina's wolf ears and bushy tail, the color of cherry blossoms, suddenly popped into existence. The elf- Holly- stared at them, then said, "So you're the fairy who told them that we exist." Venom seeped into her words, "Traitor." She spat. Rosalina looked alarmed, quickly setting down the salad she'd made and tried to explain. "No, no. I was captured two hundred years ago, I was a child then and lived on the surface. I haven't grown since then. And... what do you mean by 'fairy'? I thought I was a normal freak of nature." Rosalina's curiosity peeked out at the oddest of times sometimes. Holly looked surprised, then she looked confused. "So you're saying, you were captured and turned into a maid around two hundred years ago. How in the world did you not know about fairies? I mean, surely your mother should have told you." A shadow passed over Rosalina's face and said with a lifeless tone, "they killed them all, the villagers? Dead. My friends and family? Dead. I was the only one who was left alive." Her voice began to break and crack halfway thru her words and unshed tears glistened in her eyes. Holly looked at her with a emotion that Rosalina didn't recognize, sympathy perhaps? Rosalina couldn't stand being near the elf and walked out, shutting the door behind her. Rosalina ran to her cell. She curled up in a ball and cried herself to sleep, her sobs slightly echoing around the dungeon.

When Rosalina awoke, she saw Juliet standing over her worriedly. "I heard you crying. What happened?" Rosalina sighed. "An upsetting talk I had with the she-elf, it was about my past." Rosalina didn't want to say the name of the elf, she didn't want the elf to be mad at her. "You mean Holly? " Rosalina looked confused. "Artemis told us." 'Us' being Butler and Juliet. "Oh." She said, "Well, can I do the usual work?" "Sure, usual spot!" Rosalina got ready and walked down the corridor. She spared a brief glance at the elf, Holly-, and then continued walking.

This continued on for a few days, with Rosalina doing what she always did. On one such day, Rosalina was doing her daily food making, when she heard a shout from her master calling her. She set down the blueberry pie she had just pulled out of the oven, and rushed to where she had heard the call. Upon getting to the main entrance- aka, front door- she saw a red-faced male elf. Rosalina immediately began to fidget, not used to strangers. She welcomed the guest inside and led them to the great hall. She dashed away the first chance she got and headed to the music room not far from the great hall. There, she began to play the grand piano.

~Time skip~ Root.

The negotiations could've gone worse. He told himself, The mud boy could have set a higher price. Root had told Artemis that he'd get out the manor himself, so he was now walking down the hallway towards the door.

As Root came closer to the door, he heard some music playing. Wondering who was playing the music, he looked around, quickly spotting a music room. He went inside and saw the little maid girl that had pink-and-purple hair, playing a piano with the precision of an adult. She looked strange, he noted, but he didn't know what. He saw her ears and what looked to be a tail when she finally stopped playing the piano. The girl hopped off the stool and walked to a window, gently placing her hand on the pane and wearing a longing expression. She looked like she wanted to be free in that instance, as if she'd never ever left the manor before.

The girl noticed him and dashed to hide underneath the piano, seemingly scared. Root was confused, he didn't know why she was scared of him. He went to reassure her that he wasn't going to hurt her, but then he remembered the eye-lens he had, and thought better of it. He went back the way he came and left the manor.

~After Root leaves~ Rosalina.

Rosalina ran to the window to watch the male elf leave. She seemed to like him even though she didn't know his name- no, wait, she did, his name tag was 'Commander Root'. So he was a commander... wait, that meant Holly was an officer. She did remember reading the word 'Captain' as part of Holly's name, was that her rank? If the commander came, that usually meant war. Oh dear God. Artemis, what have you gotten us into? She thought, wondering how long it would take for the entire army to come. She had heard about the little squad that tried to take on Butler from Juliet, who had been told by her older brother, Butler, about what had happened in the front yard.

She decided to not dwell on the fact that an army was possibly coming, instead returning to the kitchen to see if the pie she had set down to cool was done cooling down.

All throughout the day, Rosalina's mind wandered back to the male elf, Root. There was just something about him that she felt like she could trust him even though they'd met once. She'd probably be forgotten, as if she never existed though. Yeah... as if she'd never existed.
