Tomura Shigaraki was many things. Student. Villain. Leader. Killer. But above all else, he considered himself a Gamer. While, admittedly, he does lay on the terminology a little thick at times, referring to people as simple NPCs, his enemies as bosses, and his own progression as him leveling up, it was more than just an oddity of his character. Ever since he was young, video games were an escape, a salvation. Even with all their stories being focused on heroes, it was times when he was able to play that allowed him to live away from the society that he intended to destroy.

It was because of this that Shigaraki knew better than anyone else who stood before them.

He was tall man with long, lanky limbs, but one wouldn't ever guess it with how he dressed. He resembled a court jester with his clothes, miss matched colors and odd patterns all over, though red, yellow and purple defined them most. Blond hair was slicked back, a pair of massive white feathers holding it in place, to reveal his pale white features that had two distinctive styles of make up on it. The first would be the splash of red about his eyes, looking like miniature bombs had gone off with no care for how it looked. The second, and most defining, was the purple lipstick that crawled up to the very edge of his cheeks into a mockery of a grin.

With the world of Quirks that they lived in, there were probably half a dozen or so that could make what Shigaraki was seeing before him a reality. But that didn't change the abject creeping of fear that settled in his gut as he beheld Kefka Palazzo, one of the greatest known villains of the Final Fantasy game series, standing before him.

"Do I even need to tell you how much of a bad idea this is?" Tomura said, shifting one eye over to Dabi, the member of the league who had brought him in.

"What?" Dabi asked, raising a lazy eyebrow. "I thought we could use a bit more firepower. And this guy has it in spades."

Kefka laughed at that, the man tipping back as he did so. The fact that he ended up floating in the air while doing that was enough to prove to Shigaraki just how real the clown before him was. "Why yes!" The clown said, barring his teeth wide. "Spades, clubs, even a diamond or two! I'd say the only thing that I don't have is a heart."

Scratching at his neck ever so lightly, Shigaraki reevaluated the feeling in his gut. It wasn't fear that was clawing at his insides. It was pure terror. Partly glad for his father's hand obscuring most of his face and hiding the emotion, he stood up. "And how exactly did a video game character come to be? I'm assuming someone's quirk."

Dabi nodded, leaning back a bit more against the wall as a light grin covered his face. "Some loser had this technology quirk that allowed him to bring holograms to life. Apparently he wanted to use the clown over here to get back at a girl who dumped him or some shit like that."

"Ah, yes, such tragedy." Kefka said. This time, when he laughed, it was the damn sound directly from the game, the high and mighty 'Oh ho ho ho' in all of it's sixteen bit glory. "Turns out, his little magic trick had one fatal flaw to it. With more emotion given to his power, the more real the life giving power became."

Fatal, huh? That tracked to Shigaraki. If that guys quirk brought the clown to life, complete with his powers, memories, and personality intact, then the only question would be just how Kefka had killed the guy. "I'm a little surprised that you haven't vanished yet. Things created by a quirk usually don't last that long."

"It was his limitation." Dabi said. "The things he brought to life stayed that way until either he dismissed them or they died. The quirk itself sounds useful, but what are you going to do? Honestly, I would have brought the guy had Chuckles here not aced him."

That got Kefka laughing again, the man kicking his legs in the air back and forth as he rolled about, floating without a care in the world. He smiled, all of his white teeth bared at Dabi. "You see, this is why I like you. You're like me in that way! Twisting the situation to your advantage."

Shigaraki felt his dry lips twist into a frown underneath his father's hand. The clown had a point there. And unlike Toga, who had become closer and more loyal as time had gone on, Dabi still kept himself at arms length. There had been entire instances where the stitched man just vanished completely, out of contact and often doing his own things. More than one burned up corpse had come about thanks to his disappearances.

"So, what exactly are you wanting from us then?" He eventually asked, scratching at his neck once again.

Settling in the air, Kefka's ever present grin became strained, the glee from before vacant. "Well, I was brought to this world just a tad… prematurely. You don't have any idea what it's like to have ultimate power at your fingertips only for it to be ripped away from you."

Ah, right before the end of the World of Balance, Tomura thought. Which meant they weren't dealing with God-Kefka. Good. If they were, the entire planet would have been a smoldering wasteland by this point. "So power is all you want?" He asked, a scoff in his voice.

"Well, Power IS what's needed to move the world." Kefka said. He lifted both hands, balancing them back and forth with invisible weight to show his meaning. "You can only get so far with words or actions before things become so tiresome and boring. A little bit of power struck at the right time can lead to such delicious chaos in it's wake."

"And in return?" Shigaraki asked, already growing tired of the clowns voice.

The laugh returned, this time having Kefka doing a full flip in mid air, smacking his leg in his giddiness. "Why, I give my power to you! That's what you're looking for, isn't it? The power to destroy? The power to remove any obstinacy before you? As an asset, I assure you, you'll fine no other general that would be more equipped for your army."

A dusty chuckle escaped his mouth, Shigaraki shaking his head ever so lightly. "Well, then, I can't really say no to that, can I?" A grin stretched underneath the hand covering his face as he stepped forward, offering his hand towards Kefka. "How about we seal that deal?"

With a grin on his face to match, Kefka reached out and grasped the hand. "Oh, you won't ever regret this! Just think of all that wonderful destruction we'll inflict!"

"Oh, I am." Shigaraki said, tightening all of his fingers except his pinky around the clowns hand. "And as much as I hate this society… there's a difference between tearing it down and leaving it a smoking hole. And I'll be damned if that's what is going to be left of it."

The pinky dropped down. Instantly, Kefka's hand began to crumble away, Decay spreading up the limb like wild fire. The clown's eyes went wide, trying to pull away from the villain destroying his hand, only to feel that same pain wash over the right side of his face, Shigaraki's left pressing all five fingers against it.

Shigaraki watched as death took Kefka, the man's entire body shaking and crumbling. It took the villain a moment to realize that it was the same death animation from the games and not just Decay making him crumble to dust. It only made sense. What other way for a video game villain to die then by the very animations that he was given? All that was needed was the victory music to be playing.

"Well… that was a waste." Dabi commented, kicking at the slowly twinkling dust of the hologram that was fading out of existence with no more quirk driving it. "Mind telling me why you killed what could have been a valuable asset to us?"

Feeling the terror in his body slowly fade, Tomura Shigaraki glared at the man beside him. It was a small, sad realization to know that had Kefka come earlier in his life, right before the Hosu incident perhaps, that he would likely taken the clown up on the offer. Letting out a small sigh, he tilted his head towards Dabi. "You don't play video games at all, do you?"

Shrugging, the man shook his head. "Never saw the point of them. Just a waste of time and usually all about supporting and being heroes. Why?"

Stepping past his subordinate, Tomura scratched at his neck once more before pushing at the door open with his shoulder. "Remind me to have Spinner lend you a copy of the game that maniac came from. There's a fine line between wanting to destroy a corrupt society and the utter destruction of the very world. That… thing… was the later."

Shigaraki left, leaving Dabi alone in the room. Looking down at the last glittering spec of dust from the dead hologram, a small laugh left his mouth as he ground that dust into the floor with his heel. "Too bad. It would have been a wild ride to go out on. Maybe I'll just keep the next recruit to myself."
