"Jeffrey please step away from the ledge" Principal Lynn pleaded.
"Do a flip!" Emily yelled.
"Yeah come on! Let's see some blood already!" Kyler added.
The principal took a moment to glare at the students before returning to the more pressing matter at hand. At the back of the forming crowd, Nicole watched with feigned disinterest. She didn't want to get involved and be forced by the principal to say something nice to the fucking loser in a vain attempt to prevent him from ending his worthless life, but she wanted to stay nearby because really wanted to see him jump.
"What's going on?" Jecka asked as she walked up next to Nicole.
"Jeffrey's gonna kill himself."
"Wow." She responded with not even the slightest hint of in her voice. "Surprised it's taken this long."
"I always thought he'd shoot up the school before he killed himself."
"Yeah me too."
The wait was getting agonizing as Jeffrey seemed to prefer monologuing like a goddamn cartoon villain instead of just killing himself like everyone wanted. Two girls approached the back of the crowd.
"What's everyone crowded around for?" Ari asked. Jecka and Nicole looked back at her, Nicole raised an eyebrow as she noticed she and Karen were currently holding hands.
"Oh hey Ari, we're just waiting for Jeffrey to kill himself." Jecka answered.
Ari wasn't very surprised by this answer. "Oh shit really?"
Karen, on the other hand, was very surprised. "Why are you all just standing here!? We need to stop him!" She yelled before pushing her way to the front of the crowd.
Nicole blinked "The fuck is her deal?"
"I think she's worried it's her fault." Ari answered quietly.
The gears in Jecka's drugged up head turned slowly as she put everything together. "Oh I know what's going on," She looked at Nicole, "you mentioned he was complaining about how Karen dumped him a couple weeks ago," then she looked at Ari, "and now you two are dating." Ari blushed, which was answer enough for Jecka, "so he's killing himself because he finally realized he's such a loser he'll make his girlfriend go gay."
"Dating Jeffrey would make me want to go gay." Nicole mumbled under her breath.
Her mumbling was still loud enough for both of the other girls to hear her however. "You are gay!" Ari protested, "or, were, at least, we dated for like a month!"
Nicole scoffed. "Yeah, then you dumped me and went all 'oh girls make me want to kill myself I'm just going to be miserable for the rest of my life like a normal person by dating guys boo hoo cry for me'
"I don't talk like that!" Ari protested
"Doesn't matter if you do because I guess that went out the window considering you're sicssioring Karen now!" Nicole snapped back.
Now it was Ari's turn to scoff. "Maybe I realized all girls didn't make me want to kill myself, just crazy ones like you."
"Oh give me a break you were into it."
"You treated me like I was a toy!"
"Exactly! Don't tell me you didn't get off on that shit!"
Ari rolled her eyes. "I don't need to justify myself to you." she then turned to Jecka, "one hole in your theory, Jeffrey isn't killing himself because he thinks he made Karen gay, he asked her this morning if he could watch us have sex and she said no. I guess now he's throwing a tantrum to try and guilt her into it."
Jecka wasn't surprised but she was still disgusted. "That's low even for him. You're not going to let him guilt her right?"
"Of course not!" Ari said, "Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go find my girlfriend." She emphasized the last word. "See you Jecka."
"Fucking bitch becomes a top for the first time in her life and suddenly thinks she's better than everyone." Nicole grumbled.
"At least you didn't actually make her feel like she needed to pretend to be straight for the rest of her life."
"I wish I did! It's what the fucking bitch deserves. She's no better than any of the guys here"
"You think all the guys here are rapists and pedophiles!"
"Exactly! Why are you getting on me about this anyway shouldn't you be happy? You got on me so much with the whole 'you bullied a gay girl into being straight Nicole, don't you see how bad this is' high horse bullshit. Well I didn't, she was just being overdramatic." She turned away from Jecka indignantly, only to see the Principal and Karen had succeeded at getting Jeffrey off the ledge. "Goddamnit I knew it was too fucking good to be true."
"Fuck I really thought he might have finally been the one to actually make the jump." Jecka sighed.
"Guess we both should have known better to expect anything enjoyable to come from him or this school." Nicole grumbled. "Want to ditch last class? My mom got her pills refilled yesterday."
A couple hours later the two girls were laying on opposite ends of Nicole's living room couch, watching Myth Busters while high out of their minds on prescription drugs.
"Why are we watching this?" Jecka asked.
"I don't know, you find something better that's on at one in the afternoon."
"I'd rather be watching fucking iCarly."
"It wasn't on. Drake and Josh was better anyway, slightly less shit."
Jecka eyed Nicole before asking genuinely "Is there anything you don't hate?"
"Oh come on don't do this now you know the cynical bullshit is my thing." Nicole groaned.
"I'm serious though, you hate like, every show, every class, every activity, everyone. What do you enjoy?"
"I don't know." Nicole answered a bit too quickly to seem like she didn't care about the conversation. "Why are you asking me this shit?"
"I don't know," Jecka started skeptically. "You just, seemed kind of jealous when we saw Ari and Karen together, it got me thinking."
"I was not jealous."
"Then why were you so annoyed at Ari then?"
"I'm annoyed with everyone." Nicole immediately answered. Before clarifying. "Besides, she's an excuse stealing manipulative bitch."
"Did you actually like her though?" Jecka asked.
The question hit a bit harder than Nicole expected. "I mean, dating her was slightly less awful than dating any guy has been."
"Guess that's not really saying much?"
"Duh." Nicole paused. "Is all this a ploy to get me to say if I'm gay?"
"I dunno I'm high out of my fucking mind right now Nicole I'm not putting much thought into anything I'm saying." Then Jecka asked anyway. "Are you?"
"I don't know! Are you?"
"I don't know either! I've been putting off figuring that shit out till college!"
There was an awkward silence after, the sort of awkward silence that no drug could really make not awkward.
Finally Nicole said. "I don't…hate you."
"What?"
"You know," Nicole started. "When you were asking if there's anything I don't completely hate. Compared to everyone else, I like, being around you."
Jecka couldn't prevent the basic bitch blush that reddened her cheeks. "I like you too Nicole."
After that the two girls returned to sitting in silence once more. The explosions on the tv acting as the only sound in the room. Unlike before however, the silence wasn't an uncomfortable one.
Nonetheless Nicole decided to break it with a sledgehammer anyway. "So does this mean we're both gay now?"
