OMAKE:

CHARACTER PROFILE: HARRY

This is sort of meant to be a faux character profile based on what Harry would be like in the game. Well, at least this take on Harry: there'd be a very different profile for the one from my oneshot What My Brother and I Did on Our Holidays. Normally, I wouldn't do it, but I actually thought of some interesting things for this if he had a gameplay equivalent. He'd be a Catalyst character, no doubt about it.

BASE PROFILE:

Voice: Daniel Radcliffe

Birthday: 7/31

Affiliation: Formerly the British Department of Mysteries, currently, the Dendro Archon.

Vision: N/A, but wields Dendro energy without a Vision or Gnosis.

Constellation: Leo (Earth). Teyvat constellation unknown.

Background: Not native to Teyvat, this wizard from Earth has a mysterious link to the Dendro Archon, and views her as his sister in everything but blood. An encounter with the Abyss Order led to him being stranded on Teyvat, and given a chance to save Nahida…

CHARACTER STORY:

1. There are many Harry Potters in many timelines, with at least a few ending up linked to Teyvat. Orphaned at a young age, this version of Harry met a mysterious girl called Nahida in his dreams. Little did he know that he was a wizard, and proclaimed the saviour of Magical Britain when he survived a murder attempt by vile warlock Lord Voldemort. However, at the age of eleven, he went to Hogwarts, a school of magic, hidden from the eyes of non-magic users. Thanks to Nahida's influence, he was Sorted into Ravenclaw.

2. Harry did not believe that Nahida was real, considering her to be an imaginary friend, along with another friend he made in Nahida's mindscape, Dunyarzad Homayani. It was partly the Dursleys' cruel taunts, and partly Harry's own feelings, that Nahida was a product of an imagination starved for friendship and affection. However, Hogwarts' headmaster, Professor Albus Dumbledore, who had dealings with the world-travelling witch Alice, told Harry that Teyvat was very real, and thus so was Nahida. And unlike most children who met Nahida in their dreams, Harry continued seeing her even up until adulthood. Some believed otherwise: Professor Severus Snape, a former friend of Harry's mother, attempted to scourge Nahida's influence from Harry's mind under the guise of an Occlumency lesson out of spite. Nahida…took umbrage at this. To this day, neither Snape nor Nahida would be drawn on what she did to him, only that it involved some very strong scolding at the least, though Nahida may have also traumatised Snape, no mean feat for a normally quite civil and sweet Archon. After that point, Snape devoted himself to being Harry's ally, even if still grudgingly.

3. The end of the Tri-Wizard Tournament marked the beginning of a dark period in Harry's life. Already slandered by the press and his peers, he witnessed the demise of rival Cedric Diggory at the hands of Peter Pettigrew, a treacherous former friend of his parents, swiftly followed by Lord Voldemort regaining a powerful body. The ensuing battle marked the first time Harry used his Dendro abilities, causing a forest to form within the graveyard, allowing him to escape. Unfortunately, Voldemort's supporters included many rich and powerful wizards, who were able to control the narrative. The next year proved to be one of Harry's most harrowing, being given short shrift by the Ministry of Magic and by his peers, until one day, he was lured by Voldemort to the Department of Mysteries. There, he finally learned of the prophecy that had compelled Voldemort to murder his parents…but at a cost.

4. When his godfather Sirius Black fell through the Veil trying to save Harry, Harry went berserk. His Dendro abilities went haywire, turning any Death Eater he attacked into trees. Even now, there are parts of the Ministry of Magic that still have trees growing, particularly in the department of mysteries. This is part of his improvised Elemental Burst: Rani Mine- Arboreal Metamorphosis(1). Voldemort escaped, and only Dumbledore sacrificing what little political capital he had left ensured Harry was kept out of the wizarding prison of Azkaban. Yet that was not all the bombshells that Dumbledore had left to drop. He finally confessed to Harry how Voldemort survived death, by a vile soul-container known as a Horcrux…and Harry had one in his scar. Harry nearly despaired, but Nahida's assuring words helped him find an unconventional solution that worked: remove a small part of his skull affected by the curse via surgery.

5. With help from his friends, his allies, and Nahida, Harry eventually prevailed over Voldemort. Yet he yearned for another purpose. He resolved one day to head to Teyvat, and free his sister from her unjust imprisonment, by hook or by crook. This was one of many reasons why he joined the Unspeakables, the researchers within the Department of Mysteries, though he also acted as their liaison with the Aurors. This was why he ended up encountering the Abyss Order and one of its commanders, who would cast him into the Abyss, eventually leading to him being stranded on Teyvat. But every cloud has a silver lining, and he realised he could save his sister…

Harry in Ravenclaw: While Harry was no genius in intellect compared to, say, Hermione Granger or Luna Lovegood, Nahida awakened a thirst for learning. In some ways, he leaned more towards information from mundane rather than magical topics, enjoying odd bits of interesting trivia. Some people thought that he and Hermione were more like Gryffindors, especially as Harry's parents were in that very House. Severus Snape in particular held this opinion, though Harry's relationship with the other teachers of Hogwarts was considerably more positive, especially with his Head of House, Professor Filius Flitwick, and the Deputy Headmistress, Professor Minerva McGonagall.

Yet Harry was also far from unaware of the problems within his House. Many Ravenclaws were snobbish intellectual elitists on a par with the Sages of the Akademiya, and his nascent friendship with Cho Chang became strained because of her attitude, and that of her friend Marietta Edgecomb, towards Luna Lovegood, who, despite her eccentricities, endeared herself to Harry quickly. And having been raised in the Muggle world and having read up on science, Harry had a somewhat more critical eye towards things wizards and witches took for granted. He viewed himself rather facetiously as the wizarding equivalent of characters from British science fiction like the Doctor or Professor Bernard Quatermass.

Dendro Abilities and Magic: Harry possesses no Vision, nor does he possess a Gnosis. This may be partly due to him being born on Earth, but he does have the ability to use Dendro energy. Given that part of his soul is actually a fragment of Irmunsul Rukkhadevata used to create her progeny Kusanali (aka Nahida), and thus he could be considered an irregular Dendro Archon, perhaps his Dendro abilities are not surprising. However, Harry predominantly uses his magic with a wand as a focus. His equivalents of an Elemental Skill and an Elemental Burst are Arboreal Kavacha(2) and Rani Mine: Arboreal Metamorphosis respectively. The former allows him to form an armour of wood around himself temporarily, allowing him to mitigate certain attacks, as well as using bark growths during the Dendro surge to restrain enemies. The latter transforms enemies into trees. Both are exhausting, so he relies more on his magic.

VOICE LINES:

Elemental Skill:

You're barking up the wrong tree!

Enough of this!

Come on if you're hard enough!

Elemental Burst:

You tickled a sleeping dragon!

This is the Dendro Archons' power!

You can't see the wood for the trees!

More about Harry I: So, you've been dropped in it too, huh? Just so you know, your sibling has a lot to answer for.

More about Harry II: Being a hero isn't all it's cracked up to be…but, well, Hermione once said I have a 'saving people thing', and she was on the money there. I just can't help myself…but you're like that too, aren't you?

More about Harry III: Teyvat, despite all its problems, is still quite a beautiful world, isn't it? Though like anywhere, there's always darkness lurking just beneath the surface.

More about Harry IV: It's weird, knowing I'm an Archon, even if only by accident. I never wanted to be a god. Then again, I have a sister who is a god.

More about Harry V: Well, what're we waiting for? Let's go save the world. It's not the first time, but honestly, I reckon this time, it'll be better than before.

About Nahida: Nahida…is everything to me. She was the first person to show me any love. The fact that the Sages locked her up from the day she was born…even at the Dursleys, it wasn't so bad. She's far better than I ever will be. I just need to make sure she knows it.

About Dunyarzad: I first met her in Nahida's dreamscape. She was my first friend. Now…well, I'm not sure what to make of her advances, especially now I know I'm an Archon, but I want to save her from Eleazar before we go too far…

About Dehya: Honestly, she's the epitome of what the Eremites can do, and what they should be. Smart, powerful, compassionate, and with a damned good head on her shoulders. Sumeru needs more people like her. Though I'm a little worried at how Dunyarzad wants us to be in a threeway relationship…

About Tighnari: Tighnari is a damned good teacher, on top of everything else. He doesn't suffer fools gladly, but to those who will listen, he's good. I wish I had more like him at Hogwarts.

About Collei: I complain about my childhood at times, but Collei…she went through worse. I mean, being used as a guinea pig by that monster Il Dottore, suffering through Eleazar…she's a strong girl beneath her timidity.

About Alhaitham: Reminds me too much of Snape for my liking. That same superior air, that sense he can't be trusted to think of anyone but himself and his ego. He may be different, but I'll be keeping an eye on him.

About Cyno: It took us a while to trust each other, and Merlin knows his jokes could use a lot of work, but he's a good guy. I wish they had someone like him in charge of the Aurors back home.

About Dori: Oh dear Merlin, it's a Goblin in human form. She's like Scrooge McDuck with none of the morals. Run a mile…

About Layla: Dreamless Sleep potions could work, but they're not meant for the long-term. Merlin, she reminds me of Neville in many ways. She could do with more confidence to go with more sleep…

About Nilou: She's someone Dunyarzad knows. I have to admit, dancing's not my thing. But given that she's sticking it sideways to the Sages, well, why not? Besides, her dancing makes Nahida happy, and that's what matters.

About Kaveh: He's pretty whiny, but honestly, he works hard, and is a good architect, I'll give him that. He needs to catch a break. Why the hell he puts up with Alhaitham, I have no idea. I reckon he and Ron could commiserate over money woes.

About Faruzan: Honestly, I wish she'd speak a lot less formally. She sounds like she has a stick where the sun doesn't shine, a bit like Hermione before she loosened up. But she's a good teacher to Collei, and what she went through…yeah.

About Venti: Ugh, that drunk? He's okay when he's on the ball, but honestly, I get serious Lockhart vibes from him at times. At least Sirius taught him some classic rock songs, though…

About Zhongli: I'm not sure I like what he did in hindsight, giving away his Gnosis the way he did. But he at least is humble for an Archon, and tries to teach both me and Nahida about the pitfalls of godhood. And he's got lots of stories…

About Ei: Ei…I dunno what you were like before Sirius came into your life, but…thanks for looking after the old dog for me. I hope he makes you happy.

About Furina: Seriously? This is the Hydro Archon? Snape used to go on and on about me being an attention-seeking brat, but Furina would have him eating his words. I pity that Neuvillette guy for having to deal with her.

About Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet: In some ways, I hate them. They're part of the Fatui's little cadet program, after all, and you can't trust the Fatui at all. But…well, I was an orphan myself, and to give Arlecchino her due, she treats them pretty well. But is it a façade, or does she actually give a damn about them? I really hope it's the latter…

About Scaramouche/the Wanderer: I get that he was traumatised by what Ei did to him, to say nothing of Il Dottore's manipulations. But he's a whiny little brat who reminds me of Snape if he wanted godhood. I wanted to call him 'Oedipus' after he erased himself from Irmunsul, given his mummy issues(3). I hope Nahida knows what she's doing, rehabilitating him. He gets only one chance from me. Just one. And I am so trolling him with Bohemian Rhapsody. Just sayin'.

About Il Dottore: For the lives you destroyed, rot in hell.

AND AS A BONUS, WHAT SOME CANON PLAYABLE CHARACTERS THINK OF HARRY…

Aether/Lumine and Paimon:

Paimon: So, you were on Harry's world for a time?

Aether/Lumine: Yes. We stopped by Earth a few times, in different timelines. I'm not sure I ever noticed mages from his time, though.

Paimon: Hmm. Harry's got a scary temper, but he's got a good heart. Plus, he knows how to cook plenty of yummy foods, and that's always a good thing in Paimon's book.

Aether/Lumine: Yeah. Unfortunately, he's been scarred by the Abyss Order, and my…well, never mind. I can only hope he'll be a good ally.

Nahida: I love my brother, I really do. He helped me come to terms with what the Sages did to me, taught me that I should be angry, that I had a right to be free. That being said…he's a bit too protective, and he's got a bit of a temper. Still…I am glad to have him by my side.

Dehya: I had to admit, all that talk he had of being from another world sounded crazy. Then again, he doesn't look at me the way many people do when they see Eremites. He's a bit overprotective towards Nahida, but honestly, I can't blame him that much. I can see why Lady Dunyarzad wants to be with him…and why she's willing to share…

Zhongli: Harry Potter is a child soldier. I have seen the like too many times in the wars I have waged in defence of Liyue, damaged and tainted by battle. He also is an Archon. A dangerous combination, and yet, he contents himself with being Buer's sword and shield. He fights not for glory, but to help others. A man after my own heart.

Ei: I had heard many stories of Harry Potter from Tenrosei(4), that is to say, Sirius Black. True, it wasn't until he regained his memories that he told me those stories, but Tenrosei spoke highly of his godson. The impressions I have of him bear this out. Buer has no greater advocate than he, and what he lacks in power, he makes up for in devotion and determination.

Scaramouche/the Wanderer: He and I don't get along so well. I can understand that, but he's like his godfather, going on and on about that damned song just to annoy me. Ugh, so immature. Besides, who the hell is Galileo? Is that some Fontaine guy I've never heard of?

OMAKE ANNOTATIONS:

I decided to do this on a whim. I might do more omakes, including scenes of a hypothetical sequel involving Harry accompanying Aether's group to Fontaine while Nahida rules Sumeru, but otherwise, I'm not sure when the next chapter will be out.

Review-answering time! jiongu-naruto: I'm guessing I got Neuvillette on the 50/50 one. It was my first roll on the gacha, and I managed to have enough for a 10-roll. My luck was even more freaky today: I had enough left over to have another 10-roll for Hu Tao, as well as try a few more times. I already have two 5 Star Pyro characters, but I decided to go for Hu Tao, as much as parts of her character both in terms of story and gameplay aggravate me. Dehya is a pretty underwhelming Pyro character, which is a crying shame, as she's seriously badass, while Klee, despite her Elemental Skill being brilliant and her character being endearing if insane, lacks a certain something with normal attacks and her Burst. I didn't get Hu Tao on the 10-roll…but I got her soon afterwards. I never have this luck on the Genshin Impact gachas normally. I have to wait till close to the end of the gacha before my luck pulls through. All of which means is that I can start saving in earnest for Venti, or, if he catches my eye, Wriothsley. I've got a couple of weeks to do so, to say nothing of the anniversary login gifts.

That being said, Yelan will probably remain my main go-to Hydro character. Her Burst is ridiculously OP, especially if you combine it with an Electro attack or a Pyro attack, and her Elemental Skill is fun to use. But I decided to try and get Neuvillette after doing his trial stage. Only problem is, he's going to be a pain in the arse to ascend, given that I need to track down those weird starfish. I had plenty of mats for Hu Tao, though.

1. This is a nod to the Doctor Who story The Mark of the Rani, where the titular villain uses special landmines that turns their victims into trees. Rani is also an Indian term for Queen, fitting with the whole Indian/Middle East/Egyptian vibe of Sumeru.

2. A reference to Nasuverse Karna's armour. As Karna is an Indian hero of myth, well, he'd fit in with Sumeru.

3. This is actually what I renamed Scaramouche to. Fitting, no?

4. It's past time I explained what Tenrosei means. It's Japanese for the Dog Star, which is to say Sirius. I didn't explain it in prior chapters due to spoilers…
