Here is part two of the Outlines. Here we see how I would be adapting the final parts of the Digimon Emperor parts.
Chapter 10: Samurai of Sincerity (Which I really hate this title. Shurimon is a ninja and samurai are extremely different then ninjas)
A week or two later, Mimi learns that a Digiport has opened naturally in New York City, and that the Digidestined are currently searching for a new Digi Egg. Since this will be a great time to see her friends without revealing the fact that she can come and go when she pleases, she decides to go through it. Her friend, Michael, decides to tag along so he can see his partner. Upon seeing where she is, she contacts Davis and tells him to meet her at Digitamamon's Diner for lunch (more of a breakfast for her).
They arrive just in time to see Yolei arguing with Digitamamon about the meal. Michael is about to intervene, but Mimi beats him to the punch. Digitamamon is very happy to see Mimi, especially when she pays for the meals. Upon explaining to them that for a brief time, a Digiport opened up near here and while she was here, she helped Digitamamon with some of the mind controlled Digimon.
She further explains that, after TK recognizes Digitamamon as one of Miyotismon's former minions, Digitamamon has turned over a new leaf. While he is harsh when it comes to not paying for his meals, it is mainly because Digitamamon takes great pride in his restaurant. This leaves Yolei conflicted, since Digitamamon was a bit of a jerk, but it was only because he was defending his restaurant's honor.
From there, they talk about how Michael became a Digidestined. They come to the conclusion that all the Digidestined all had encounters with Digimon before they met their partners. They all begin to leave, before a roar comes from the forest. It's Gorillamon, wearing a Dark Spiral. He attacks the restaurant, but Digitamamon defends them from the attack and gets sent flying. They go to attack him, but Michael stops him, saying this is his fight.
Michael's partner, Betamon, Digivolves into Seadramon and goes to fight Gorillamon. The two meet in the water for a brief power struggle. It quickly becomes apparent that Seadramon is unable to do it by himself, so Palmon DNA Digivolves into Togemon to help finish the fight. While Mimi comforts Gorillamon, TK and Kari go to find Digitamamon. Davis arrives shortly after, with Flamedramon carrying Digitamamon. He happily greets Mimi, as Digitamamon rolls out of Flamedramon's hand and Flamedramon turns back into Veemon.
Digitamamon begins to berate the group about how they should have done more in defending his restaurant and that he would be giving them the bill for the repairs. While this angers Yolei, Mimi holds her back, stating something isn't right. She tries to comfort Digitamamon, but she ultimately gets knocked down for her efforts. This angers Yolei who begins speaking truthfully on how she feels about this situation. The Digi Egg of Sincerity reacts to this and allows Hawkmon to Digivolve into Shurimon.
Shurimon goes to fight Digitamamon to free him from the Dark Spiral, but he is unable to get into his shell. Veemon helps by Digivolving into ExVeemon and grappling Digitamamon. This gives Shurimon the opportunity to destroy the Dark Spiral.
With Digitamamon freed, Davis decides to stay and eat with Mimi while Michael and the others all head back. Yolei makes a remark that Davis seems really comfortable with Mimi, but the others dismiss it. Meanwhile, Davis and Mimi joke that they will never suspect that they have been working together.
Chapter 11: A Turbulent Sea
Mimi and Davis are currently at a beach clearing out Control Spires. They are facing minimum resistance due to the distance from Ken's location. After clearing the last of the Control Spires in the area, they decide to take a break and swim. They are enjoying themselves when a giant wave pushes them back to shore. When they recover from the sudden shock, they turn to find a Mermaimon wearing a Dark Spiral with several Octmon following her commands.
Mimi and Davis quickly Spirit Evolve into Kazemon and Kumamon, while Veemon and Palmon Digivolve into ExVeemon and Lillymon respectively. Kazemon engages Mermaimon with Lillymon, while ExVeemon and Kumamon start to knock out or freeze the Octmon that came up to the shore.
Mermaimon is about even with Kazemon and Lillymon due to her mobility in the water. It isn't long before Kazemon is hit into the water, causing her to revert back into Mimi and fall into the water. Lillymon starts to fight more recklessly but is once again washed on shore by a large wave, causing her to crash into Kumamon and ExVeemon. Mermaimon and her minions begin to relentlessly attack them, forcing them on the defensive.
While floating underwater, Mimi's D-Tector goes off. This refocuses her and allows her to see a spirit floating towards her. It absorbs itself into her D-Tector and allows her to Spirit Evolve into Ranamon. Her arrival turns the tide against Mermaimon, since her greater control of water prevents Mermaimon from moving or attacking as much.
This allows them to free Mermaidmon, who once she gains her mind back, thanks them for their help. She also starts hugging Kumamon, asking if he wants to join her pirate crew. Kumamon, unused to such aggressive positive female attention, quite literally melts out of her grip, while Ranamon turns her head up at Davis' behavior.
Kumamon slides over to Ranamon and asks her what's wrong. Ranamon (changes back to Mimi) doesn't respond, and in fact starts to walk away. Kumamon turns back into Davis and hugs her. He states that he is only able to do this because of her, and he's glad that he can always count on her to back him up. Mimi hugs him back and thanks him for thinking so strongly about her. She states that she is so glad to have met him and that she is so glad to have met him. The moment is ruined when Veemon's stomach rumbles, but they all go off to get some food.
Chapter 12: Remembrance
After a successful day destroying several of Ken's Control Spires, Mimi takes a look at what day it is. She is shocked to see that it is the day of the annual Digimon Reunion. She immediately calls Davis over and tells them that they have to leave. While shocked that she would demand that, he follows after her. Along the way, Mimi explains that today is the day that the Digidestined defeated Miyotismon three years ago, and she only has a few hours to prepare. Every year at this time, the Digidestined gathered to send their regards to the friends that they lost during Miyotismon's invasion.
With that explanation, Davis is more than ready to stop for today. He suggests that they make a picnic for all the Digidestined. Mimi is on board, and they start putting together a meal for everyone. Along with picking up a bouquet of flowers, they are able to pick up the necessary food for a meal. With all the preparation done, Davis, Veemon, Mimi, Palmon and Calumon (who are both inside Mimi's Digivice) all head out to meet the other Digidestined.
When they get there, they are surprised that Davis had brought food and are further surprised when Palmon's and Calumon's voices came through Mimi's Digivice. Everyone is shocked about what Mimi's Digivice is able to do, but it is forgotten (at least by the girls) when Calumon appears on screen. He asks if he can play with all the new Digimon, and after Mimi makes the mistake of looking at Calumon's puppy dog eyes, she relents under the condition, Calumon waits until they are alone. Calumon is upset to the simultaneous joy and sadness of the girls, but he relents to Mimi's conditions.
The older Digidestined begin to reminisce about their adventures dealing with Myotismon's forces, and they visit many of the locations of big battles. While Mimi and Sora tell Yolei about some of their fights, TK and Matt go in a different direction.
While they each are going their separate ways, Yolei remarks that Davis sure seems to have changed. Mimi giggles before explaining that Davis has really been doing a great job of helping the Digital World. The events of the Dark Ocean really caused Davis to mature, and as a result, he started to be more focused. Because of this, he began rallying the Digimon against the Digimon Emperor and setting up squads to both clear the areas of Control Spires and guard the areas that don't have them. Sora remarks how it is amazing that Davis was able to do all that with only Veemon, but Mimi says that he's had some help.
Somehow, Davis and DemiVeemon are dragged with Cody, Tai, Kari and Izzy to Tai's house where they discuss creating a Digital Gate outside of the Computer Lab. Davis responds that all they have to do is use the D-3 to the shock of the others. When Izzy asks what he means, Davis casually creates a Digital Gate on Tai's computer, stating that he found out right before he left the group to go on his own.
When Tai demands why he didn't tell anyone else, Davis responds that it's a little risky to do so constantly. He only gets away with it because his parents are often working late and Jun tends to spend as much time away from home as possible. They don't really care if he's home or not because they aren't home that often due to working in different districts. This silences the other Digidestined, and Davis' point is further proven when Tai and Kari's mom comes in, asking if anyone is hungry. Davis saves the day by saying he packed some Bentos for everyone to eat, to the relief of the humans. Shortly after, everyone joins Tai and the others for a quick meal before they head to the Fuji TV station.
As they reach it, a thunderstorm appears out of nowhere. A lightning bolt strikes the building, and a hoard of the employees come rushing out, screaming about a ghost. Gatomon ears perk up, and she rushes in amidst the chaos. The rest follows after her to the main lobby, where the computers are emitting a strange noise and a black shadow is racing around the room.
It keeps screaming for Gatomon and confirmed by Gatomon herself. Fearing the worst, DemiVeemon, Upamon, and Poromon digivolve into their rookie forms, while Mimi realizes Palmon (to the shock of the others). Gatomon holds them off and tells them to wait. Upon hearing Gatomon's voice, the shadow reveals itself to be Wizardmon. While glad to see Gatomon, Wizardmon comes bearing a great warning.
He states that they will not be able to defeat the great evil as they are now and reveals that Ken is not the only enemy that they have to worry about. He tells them that strength alone will not be able to defeat it either. He tells them that to release the one wrapped in darkness "Kindness will release the Golden Radiance". He states that both Kindness and the Golden Radiance is necessary to win. With his piece said, Wizardmon floats off into the Darkness, leaving the kids to wonder what he meant.
Davis, meanwhile, is a little suspicious about Wizardmon's behavior. He talks to Mimi who decided to stay the night, since Davis' parents are away and Jun is at a friend's house. Mimi agrees with Davis, and together the two Spirit Evolve into Loweemon and Kazemon to travel over the rooftops towards the TV station. Calumon is keeping DemiVeemon and Palmon busy so they don't tag along. They make sure to stick to the shadows and reach it in no time at all.
Upon reaching it, they begin looking for Wizardmon and find him lying in the shadows of a nearby roof. They quickly rush over to him, but Wizardmon is put on the defensive when seeing the two unknown Digimon. Kazemon reassures Wizardmon that they mean no harm and reverts back to Mimi to the shock of the ghost. Wizardmon explains that he doesn't have much time for this world, and since he isn't in the Digital World, he will be permanently deleted. He's just glad that he was able to see Gatomon one last time.
Davis refuses to let this happen and says that he has another way. Their D-Tectors are able to return defeated Digimon into an egg by scanning their fractal code. Wizardmon is unsure if this will work, but Mimi encourages them to give it a try. It is at this point that Wizardmon sinks back into the ground as a shadow and begins to uncontrollably sink away. Thinking quickly, Loweemon stabs his sword into the shadowy form of Wizardmon and reveals his fractal code. He quickly scans it and Wizardmon reverts into an egg.
The two take the egg back into the Digital World under the care of Elecmon before heading back to Davis' home. They are surprised to see Palmon, Veemon and Calumon in a pile of pillows in the middle of the room resting. After a quick laugh at this, Davis and Mimi turn in for the night.
Chapter 13: Taking it to the Enemy
A few days later, the Digidestined (including Mimi who jumped through using a Digiport) all meet up at Izzy's to discuss what they are going to do with the discovery of the Emperor's base. With the ability to create Digital Gates from any computer and summer break happening, they think now is the time to strike at the Digimon Emperor, especially since he's speeding up his takeover. Upon bringing up the grid that tells the areas controlled by the Digimon Emperor. It shows him moving in a path over the left side and the right side under his control except for a large area in the near the edge of his territory. Davis remarks that he's cleared out a bigger area than he thought to the surprise of the Digidestined.
Cody brings up the idea that they shouldn't come back until they defeat the Digimon Emperor. Everyone else agrees, and Tai says that they can go camping to hide what they are doing from their parents. It isn't helped by Izzy's mother coming in suddenly, and Matt hurriedly gives the excuse that his dad will be happy to take them camping (He really does need it, too).
Mimi tells them that she will be joining the younger kids. When the control spires are brought up, Mimi just giggles as a DNA Charge forms around her hand. She explains that she is able to Digivolve Palmon even when Control Spires are nearby, but it is draining for Palmon. When asked if her parents would mind, Mimi replies that they actually wouldn't. They know that she would be staying over in Japan for a week or two, so they would be happy that she would be going camping with some friends. Some small talk later, everyone leaves to go pack.
At Davis' house, they are discussing what they should bring for the camping trip when Jun comes into the room. Jun is surprised to see an older girl in Davis' room, but Davis deflects her probing by saying that Mimi is one of Tai's friends that is joining them on their camping trip. Jun asks if Matt is coming, but Davis responds that he doesn't know who all is coming, as he hasn't really hung out that much with them. For all he knows, Matt could have gotten a cold. Jun leaves after this, but Mimi reacts that it's obvious that Jun is going to try to tag along. Davis hangs his head, knowing this is true and calls Matt to warn him of the impending obstacle.
The next day, Davis, Mimi, and the younger Digidestined enter the Digital World through Izzy's Laptop before Izzy, Matt and Tai leave with Matt's Dad. Noticeably, Yolei is extremely excited to find them. The scene with Matt and Jun happens the same way, but Matt (with Mimi's suggestion) leaves behind a promise for tickets to his next gig only if she doesn't tag along. Jun ignores this, because she wants to spend time with Matt.
In the Digital World, the Digidestined go to where Cody found the base, but a giant crater is where it was. They are unable to guess what happened, but Yolei climbs up a control spire and states that it must have flown into the air. Everyone's a little exasperated at Yolei's behavior, but they are quick to try to talk her down when she starts rappelling down the crater.
Yolei is attacked by a Dokugamon wearing a Dark Ring, but Hawkmon is able to defend her. However, he gets hurt by it before Yasyamon is able to destroy the rings. Yolei is disheartened as she takes care of the wounded Hawkmon with Kari, Mimi, Palmon and Gatomon. Meanwhile, Davis, TK, and Cody begin to look for the base. Kari and Mimi comfort Yolei, while Gatomon and Palmon look for herbs. It takes a little, but eventually, they are able to help Yolei get through this with some kind words from Hawkmon.
Later that evening, when Mimi is starting to make a meal for the rest and Hawkmon is declaring the healing properties of catnip (this is canon in the dub), the girls see the Emperor's base flying in the sky. Hawkmon remarks that Yolei was right, and Mimi contacts the boys that they found the base. With the new knowledge, the group decides to follow it tomorrow, but Davis decides to stay up and keep watch with only Mimi knowing about it. It's a good thing he does because there are a few Dark Ring Digimon who attacked the camp.
Chapter 14: Darkness has many forms
Davis is so exhausted by staying up so late last night that he sleeps right through any attempts to wake him up. Mimi mentions that she saw that Davis was still awake when she went to bed, so it might be best to let him sleep a bit longer. TK, Tentomon and Cody decide to head out and locate the base before it gets too far away. A little later, Kari and Yolei wake up and get impatient, so they decide to head out too.
Mimi eventually manages to wake up Davis and the four (Mimi forced Calumon to stay with Sora) head out to follow them on Raidramon. They follow the signals from the other's D-3, and it isn't long until they reach a beach. Mimi mentions that she could use Kazemon or Ranamon, but Davis wouldn't be able to follow. It is by pure chance that the ground that they are standing breaks from the shore and floats in the direction they need to go. Mimi Spirit Evolves into Ranamon and Veemon Digivolves to Depthmon to help push the Island faster.
When they finally catch up to the base, they are surprised to find a large amount of Digimon escaping the vessel. They quickly begin to help them board the island, before Submarimon changes the direction the island is floating. While they are escaping, Mimi notices a strange Digimon fighting Nefertimon and Halsemon. Mimi and Davis are about to try to intervene when Pegasusmon frees them and Kimeramon just does nothing. With Ken retreating, Davis and the others fall back to regroup. Noticeably, TK has more than a few bruises.
A day later, the group is following the wave of destruction that Ken's base is causing. When Tentomon explains that Ken will not stop unless he runs out of fuel, Cody gets an idea. After sending a message to Izzy and the others, Izzy is able to make a plan using Agumon, Tentomon and Gabumon that will stop the base in its tracks. They create a giant pillar of flame using a nearby oil line that stops the base.
Using this distraction, the group enters the base undercover. Upon entering, Mimi's D-tector goes off and points to a different location in the base to the confusion of the Digidestined. Mimi and Davis realize that there must be a spirit that is powering the ship, so Mimi splits from the group to get them, quickly Digivolving Palmon to Lillymon and Spirit Evolving into Kazemon. The Digidestined asks what they are doing, but Davis just says that they will explain later.
The Emperor's enslaved Bakemon prevents them from going any further in their conversation as they turn their attention to the hostile Digimon. They are able to make quick work of the Dark Rings around them, but the sudden appearance of Kimeramon makes things difficult as it throws around and forces their Digimon to revert back into their in-training form (sans Gatomon and Patamon because bullshit reasons).
While TK and the others want to quit, Davis refuses to give up. He knows that this is the best possible chance for them to stop Ken and jumps down towards the center of the base. TK and the rest go to follow them, but the sudden appearance of Ken forces them to stop. Suddenly, Kimeramon flies out of the base to the bewilderment of all.
Upon reaching the core, Davis and Demiveemon are met with Wormmon who guides them to the main power source. The source reveals itself to be a Golden Digiegg which allows DemiVeemon to go back to Veemon. With the Golden Egg, Veemon Digivolves into Magnamon which releases enough energy to rejuvenate the other Digimon. The moment is gone when Kimeramon attacks Magnamon. During the fight, Kimeramon grows a new form of wings.
After a short conversation with Ken where the Digidestined fail to convince Ken to change his ways, they are forced to flee the ship. When they get out, Davis notices the changes that Kimeramon has gone through. His D-Tector goes off and Loweemon's voice comes through, stating that Kimeramon has obtained the Beast Spirit of Darkness and it has been corrupted by its energy. Davis knows that he can't hide this any longer, and he stands up on Pegasusmon to the confusion of the others.
TK demands to know what Davis is doing, but Davis tells him that he can't explain right now. He brings out his D-Tector and a loop of Fractal Code (to the shock of TK) appears around his hand. Davis proclaims that now is the time to show the world the true power of Darkness. With his piece said, Davis Spirit Evolves into Loweemon and jumps into the fight. TK screams after Davis, angrilly demanding to know what he is talking about, but Davis ignores him as he begins to fight Kimeramon.
Meanwhile, Mimi as Kazemon is flying through the base looking for the Spirits. She is easily able to reach the control area with the lack of security in the entire place. She is surprised to find two spirits floating in two bubbles in a lab. She destroys the barriers and obtains the spirits, before the power of the entire building shuts down. Mimi realizes that now is the time to get out of here. They quickly fly out and notice the fight between Kimeramon, Magnamon and Loweemon. The two look at each other, before they rush to join them.
The four are able to evenly fight against the powered up Kimeramon, but Magnamon begins to lose power. With the weakened Magnamon, Kimeramon is able to knock back Loweemon, Lillymon and Kazemon. It grabs Magnamon and begins to squeeze him tightly. They are about to reenter the fight, when Wormmon on a Devidramon flies into the battle and frees Magnamon. Using the last of his energy, Wormmon transfers his energy into Magnamon.
With his newfound energy, Magnamon is able to destroy Kimeramon using all of his own energy. As the data of Kimeramon begins to disperse, a fractal code with the Spirit floats in the air. Loweemon quickly scans it into his D-Tector before rushing to catch DemiVeemon. He is surprised to find a Digimon standing in front of him. It seems to be a man made of metal and mirror. The Digimon thanks him for freeing him from the Digi Egg of Miracles and asks that the Crest be given to its rightful owner. With its piece said, the Digimon turns into a Spirit and is absorbed into Davis' Digivice.
Together, they all go to confront the Digimon Emperor one final time. Upon seeing DemiVeemon, Ken finally realizes that all the terrible things that he did were real and the Digital World was not just a computer program that he can reset. Upon this realization, the Crest floats over to Ken, and it is identified as the Crest of Kindness. Ken refuses it, stating he does not deserve it since he has been anything but kind. Wormmon, using his last bits of strength, expresses his happiness that Ken's kind self is finally back, before he disperses into data. Ken, upset over another loss of a person he cares about, leaves defeated. Loweemon offers his support if Ken is ever in need of help, since he has a greater understanding of dealing with Darkness, but Ken ignores him and returns home.
As the rest of the Digidestines celebrate, Loweemon falls to his knees as a dark aura surrounds him. As Kazemon asks him what's wrong, Loweemon is able to tell them that the Spirit wasn't purified enough right before a stream of Fractal Code surrounds him and he transforms into Velgemon. Loweemon is able to throw DemiVeemon at Kari before this happens. Kazemon and Lillymon are quick to tell them to back away, stating that as he is right now, Davis is stronger than Kimeramon.
With that said, the two prepare themselves for the toughest fight yet, as Velgemon screams into the air.
Chapter 15: Fighting a Friend
We start off exactly at the same spot as last time. Velgemon is screaming into the air. Kazemon and Lillymon start to confront Velgemon while despite Mimi's warning, TK starts to attack Velgemon, angrily. This turns out to be a bad thing, as it turns Velgemon's attention to TK.
Velgemon makes quick work of Pegasusmon, forcing it to revert back to Patamon. Velgemon goes to attack TK, but Kazemon and Lillymon are able to distract it long enough for the other Digidestined to retreat to a distance that would allow them to watch the battle. TK does so under protest, vehemently telling Patamon to destroy it.
Velgemon begins swinging its arms rapidly trying to hit either Lillymon or Kazemon. Both Digimon begin relentlessly attacking Velgemon, but only Lillymon is doing any damage. Eventually, Velgemon is able to hit both of them out of the sky with the attack forcing Kazemon to revert to Mimi.
Velgemon freezes upon seeing Mimi allowing Lillymon to take Mimi a fair distance away. Lillymon tells Mimi that she might have to escape while she fights Velgemon. Mimi almost considers this, but stops when she sees DemiVeemon crying out for Davis to come back and the craters that Velgemon created from its stray attacks. It brings back her memory of the promise that she made with Davis to protect the Digital World.
She becomes angry, seeing her friend forced to be this monster just for stopping an enemy. Suddenly, a massive amount of energy forms around Mimi, before she focuses it towards fulfilling her promise with Davis. Her Digivice glows with the message of Ultimate Evolution. She performs a DNA Charge Overdrive and allows Lillymon to Digivolve to BanchoLillymon. The moment of celebration is gone when Velgemon starts attacking again.
BanchoLillymon's overpowering attacks and defense are able to beat back and force Velgemon on the defensive. All the while, Mimi is yelling at Davis to control the darkness like he always has. She screams that she believes he can do this.
Velgemon stills at this. Inside its mind, Davis is fighting for control against Velgemon's wrath in the form of Duskmon. It's a losing battle when Mimi's words reach him. With a newfound determination, Davis transforms into Loweemon and strikes Duskmon down. He proclaims that he will never betray the trust of the one person who always believed in him.
Velgemon screams as the fractal code surrounds itself. The Beast Spirit is shown briefly before it transforms into its true form. As the Code subsides, a new Digimon is standing proud in the desert. Mimi's D-Tector identifies it as JagerLoweemon, the true Beast Spirit of Darkness.
JagerLoweemon slowly walked over to Mimi, before resting his head against the floor in front of her. Mimi immediately flings her arms around JagerLoweemon and begins to bawl, proclaiming that she is so glad that he is back to normal. JagerLoweemon thanks her for believing in him before he reverts back into Davis, unconscious.
DemiVeemon breaks free of Kari's grip and runs over to his partner. He begins poking at Davis, asking if he's alright. Mimi reassures him that Davis is just tired, and then says that it's time to head back. TK doesn't listen and demands to have answers to what happened. Mimi once again says that they will explain later, but right now, Davis needs to recover and she's not much better. Mimi contacts Izzy, before she enters the Digiport with Davis and their Digimon. The others are unable to respond, but Kari eventually manages to compose herself and get the others to head out too.
Back in the real world, Mimi is carrying the unconscious Davis (on her back) back to the campsite while Izzy is trying to get answers from Mimi. Mimi refuses to answer now and is saved from his questioning by the rest of the group piling out of the Digiport and all landing on him. Mimi giggles at the scene before reaching the campsite. She is surprised to see that Jun is at the campsite eating with Tai and Matt.
Jun asks what happened to Davis, but Mimi easily states that they saw a bear last night, and Davis stayed up all night watching out for it. They didn't find out about it until he almost fell asleep while hiking. Mimi then asked why Jun was here. Jun responds that she couldn't stand being away from Matt, and Matt states that she is definitely not getting those tickets. Matt's dad is relieved because it has been a few days of camping and he doesn't know how much longer he would be able to handle it. To the dismay of Jun who just got there, everyone starts to pack up in the van. After a quick argument when they realize they won't have enough seats to transport everyone, Matt's dad forces Matt to take the bus with Jun. On the way back, Tai and Izzy talk about how they can leave the Digital World in other's hands while Davis and the others sleep. Noticeably, Davis and Mimi are sleeping leaning against each other while DemiVeemon and Tanemon sleep on their laps.
Chapter 16: Explanations
A few days later, the Digidestined meet to discuss the fight against Ken, specifically Davis' and Mimi's ability. Mimi starts by stating that she ran into Davis shortly after their picnic in the Digital World. Mimi begins to explain the exact details of her time in the Dark Ocean and when Davis first got his Spirit of Darkness. TK angrily asks how Davis can use the power of Darkness, but Davis rebukes him. Davis states that Darkness is not evil, and in fact, Darkness is often neutral. It can be harsh, but Darkness also provides comfort. It's like how light can both be used to help see or blind people.
Mimi brings them back on track. She states that while she felt helpless against Dragomon, Togemon was quick to reassure her. She explains how she remembered defiantly standing up to Dragomon and her Digivice transforming, allowing Togemon to Digivolve into Lillymon without her crests. Davis chimes in that this is about the time he first transformed into Loweemon. Palmon explains that she remembers Mimi's energy spiking before she was able to Digivolve.
Davis finishes the story with how they were able to beat Dragomon, and how they were able to escape using Dragomon's Data. When asked about why they deleted Dragomon, Davis responds that they didn't. Dragomon was turned into an egg. Davis finishes how they discovered that they were able to create Digi Ports from their Digivices, and how the two decided to strike out on their own to free the Digital World from the Digimon Emperor's control.
When asked why they kept it a secret, Davis confesses his feelings on wishing to do more. They would go in for a little bit, clear an area and then leave, while a huge amount of the Digital World is stuck suffering under the Digital Emperor. It seemed that everyone else was less than willing to do more than they were doing. Davis states that since he has been on his own, he has been steadily freeing and befriending the Digimon with the help of Mimi. The Koromon Village has turned into a bustling city where Digimon of all levels are living peacefully. Now that the fighting is done, they are able to focus on rebuilding.
The rest of the Digimon are amazed with all that Davis and Mimi have been able to do, but Izzy wants to know more about the Spirits and Mimi's ability to get Palmon to the Mega level. They start with Mimi's ability which she has no real explanation for. All she can say is that she is using her wish to protect the Digital World to trigger Palmon's Digivolution. This brings up the potential for the others to regain their strength, though Izzy points out how it may be a side effect of Mimi being in the Dark Ocean while Davis first used his Spirit. Davis mentions how he is able to get Veemon into a Champion level.
Davis then goes on to explain that the two have been collecting the Spirits of the Ten Legendary Warriors and some of the mechanics of Spirit Evolution. When asked if the others could do this, Davis says that it is unlikely for this to happen. When Yolei asks how this is happening, Davis pulls out his D-Tector and brings up Bokomon's book. Davis goes to explain how the writer of the book did some research on how the Legendary Warriors' Spirits work. The legendary spirits only work for humans or Digimon that are known as Mediums. The Mediums are able to draw out the power of the Spirits while keeping themselves in control. This is especially important with the Beast Spirits since they are driven by their Instincts more than anything else. Davis reveals that he is really only able to use the Spirits of Darkness, Fire and Ice for an extended time.
It's at this point that one of the others asks what they should do now. Davis says that they can do whatever they want. He and Mimi are going to get to work rebuilding the Digital World, but they aren't going to be doing it with the rest. When Yolei and TK protest this, Mimi explains that they will be working with the friends they made to start restoring the damage. Having said their peace, Davis and Mimi leave to go get lunch. Before they leave, Mimi tells Kari that she should check the Primary Village because an old friend may be there.
Chapter 17: Recovery
While this is happening, Ken is trying to come to terms with what he did. He is sleeping in his bed, when he overhears his parents trying to talk to him. He goes to look at them, but he states that he doesn't know who they were. Ken begins to remember what led him to be the Digimon Emperor and wishes that Wormmon was here. He blindly walks into the portal and goes into the Digital World. Unknown to him, his mother walked in a little after and saw that her son wasn't in his room.
He lands in Primary Village and after being explained where he is, he begins to look for Wormmon. Along the way, he meets an Impmon who recognizes Ken but does not speak poorly about him. When Ken asks why he out of all of the Digimon doesn't hate him, the Rookie Digimon talks about how he used to follow a far greater evil than the Digimon Emperor ever was at his worst. He gave his life to give his best friend a new chance at being her true self, and likewise, he sees the opportunity to help another lost soul find themselves.
Ken begins to explains how he regrets everything he did to the Digital World. He wants to know what he can do to make it better. Impmon talks about how he can only learn and grow from his mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, but we cannot define ourselves by them. Ken makes a promise to make himself better and not make the same mistakes that he did previously. Upon this, his Crest of Kindness glows, and a nearby Digi Egg glows as well.
Ken approaches the egg and places his hand on it. It hatches into Leafmon, Wormmon's Fresh form. Leafmon expresses how happy he is to see Ken back to his normal self. Ken states he is just so happy that Leafmon is back. Ken expresses his gratitude to Impmon for everything before he leaves to go back home. When he gets back home, he goes out to greet his parents who apologize to him for trying to make him be like Sam.
Shortly after this, Kari and Nefertimon arrive at the Primary Village. Nefertimon reverts back to Gatomon, and the two enter the village. Impmon upon seeing Gatomon is so delighted to see his old friend. A heartfelt reunion happens where Impmon explains what happened after his message. Gatomon is angry at Davis for hurting Wizardmon, but Impmon calms her down saying that he would have been gone entirely if not for Davis' action. After talking to him for a while, Kari and Gatomon leave for home, while Impmon tells them that he will be heading out soon to help with the reconstruction.
Chapter 18: A New Enemy
A few days later, Davis, Mimi, their Digimon (and Calumon) and many of the Digimon from the Koromon Village are working to rebuild the Digital World. Well, Calumon is playing with a lot of the Fresh and In-Training Digimon nearby the town they were rebuilding. It is by chance that they stumble upon Ken, destroying Control Spires with Stingmon. Davis and Mimi happily greet Ken, and Ken hesitantly replies to their greeting. He asks why they are being so nice to him, since he feels that he doesn't deserve their kindness after what he did as the Digimon Emperor. Mimi responds that they don't hold it against him, especially since he is trying to right his wrongs, according to Impmon.
Davis asks if Ken wants to help them with the reconstruction. Ken is hesitant before a familiar Digimon walks into the clearing. It's Impmon, who is surprised to see that Ken is here. Ken and Impmon greet each other, and Stingmon thanks Impmon for helping out his partner when he couldn't. Calumon appears shortly after, asking if Ken wants to play. Stingmon and Impmon both encourage Ken to go with Calumon, but Ken is still unsure.
He asks if Calumon really wants to play with the person who was the Digimon Emperor. Calumon responds innocently that the Digimon Emperor was mean, but Ken is kind and nice. This allows Ken to let down his guard and agree to play with Calumon. Calumon then goes to Impmon and tries to get him to play as well. Impmon tries to disagree saying that there is still work to do, but Calumon grabs his hands. As Calumon does this, the jewel on his head glows and Impmon Digivolves into Wizardmon. Wizardmon, Stingmon and Ken are all surprised by this, but Davis says that this is what Calumon can power Digimon despite having no combat ability.
With this, Davis creates a makeshift soccer ball and challenges Ken to a rematch. Ken smiles at the friendly challenge, and the two kids, after realizing that they won't really be able to create a team with a bunch of Digimon toddlers, decide to have a shoot off. It doesn't last long (and the two are even) before the toddlers want to learn what they are doing. With this interruption, Davis and Ken start teaching them how to play soccer and end up having a great time.
This is stopped when Ken sees a strange woman looking at the game from behind a clearing. Ken runs off with Wormmon, while Davis and Mimi follow after him. Davis asks what Ken is chasing, and Ken replies that before he became the Digimon Emperor, he was sent an email telling him to use his Digivice. Recently, a strange woman contacted him again bragging about how easy it was to manipulate him into creating his Control Spires.
Upon hearing this, Davis and Mimi quickly perform a DNA Charge, and Veemon and Palmon Digivolve into ExVeemon and Togemon. They then Spirit Evolve into Agunimon and Kazemon. They reach a clearing where they see a woman next to 5 Control Spires. They see her pull on her hair before throwing them at the Control Spires. Suddenly, the Control Spires began to transform. They became 5 Apemon, who upon the lady's command, began rampaging towards the town.
When they try to scan it with their D-Tectors, the D-Tectors do not work since there is no Fractal Code. This leads them to the conclusion that these are not real Digimon. With that conclusion, the five begin to fight the Apemon. The Apemon are speedy Digimon, but Stingmon and Kazemon are able to keep up with them, so they would have Kazemon and Stingmon daze them so the rest could demolish them. It is strange that when they are destroyed, the Control Spire Digimon's body breaks apart like its a shell.
When they go to look at the woman, they find that she is gone. However, they are concerned that a new enemy is causing destruction so soon after Ken's defeat (though they don't phrase it like that). When Mimi and Davis ask if Ken wants to join them with the reconstruction, Ken hesitates. Ken is a little more comfortable now that they have defeated the enemy and he sees that Mimi and Davis are not going to hold his actions against him. However, he still feels like he has to come to terms on some things by himself, so he refuses for now. He does say that he will call them or they could contact him if help is needed.
With pleasant wishes from everyone, and especially Wizardmon, Ken and Stingmon leave. It isn't long before both Mimi and Davis have to leave as well. With well wishes from all around, everyone heads back for the day. When Davis gets back home, he makes sure to tell the rest of the Digidestined about what happened. They are not quite sure if what Davis says is true, but they at least consider it.
Chapter 18: Mimi Arrives, Golemmon Attacks
It's an exciting day for Davis and the rest of the Digidestined, since Mimi is coming back to Japan. Unfortunately, most of the younger Digidestined were working towards rebuilding a section of the Digital World by a dam near a small village, so they would not be able to meet up until later. Davis was actually planning to go to meet up with Mimi, but because his apartment complex was also getting a resident, his parents forced him to go meet them. He's a little bummed out about this, but he relents to meeting the new neighbors.
Upon getting to the apartment, which is just down the hallway from his own apartment, Davis is surprised to be met with Mimi at the door. When he manages to stutter out why she didn't tell him she was moving into his apartment complex, Mimi just tells him it was a surprise.
Both sets of parents are surprised to find out that their children are apparently good friends, and Mimi's father is quick to ask what Davis' relationship is with his daughter to the embarrassment of Davis and Mimi and amusement of Jun. Davis explains (though rushed) that he met Mimi during Golden Week when he was feeling a little down about some things. Mimi helped him out, and they stayed in contact. He also explains that she's helped him with other things like school work, and he was actually planning on meeting her. This relieves Mimi's dad, but both the mothers notice the looks that Mimi and Davis give each other.
Before they could probe their children, the doorbell rings. Mrs. Tachikawa goes to answer the door, and when she opens it, all the older Digidestined are there. They happily greet the Tachikawas as they enter with a bunch of presents. Everyone is having a grand time before Davis and Mimi get a message from Kari about needing help. Mimi knows that she can't leave, but Davis is able to get out of there. Along the way, Davis contacts Ken, saying he may need some help.
He enters the DigiPort at his apartment and rushes over to where the Digidestined are fighting a Golemon. Upon scanning Golemon, they learn that he is a Control Spire Digimon. Veemon Digivolves into ExVeemon while Davis rushes to the other Digidestined. When asked what they are doing, they express that this is just like the Mamemon that attacked Cody where a Digimon is attacking without being under the influence of a Dark Ring. Davis is quick to remind them of the encounter that he and Mimi had with the strange woman. The only way to stop them is to destroy them.
Yolei expresses her doubts about this, due to the fact that she is still a little shaken about Ken destroying the Mamemon a few days ago. He explains that his D-Tector can identify Digimon by scanning the Fractal Code of a Digimon, but Control Spire Digimon don't have Fractal Codes. He then points at the fight where Ken arrives with Stingmon and joins ExVeemon against Golemon. Stingmon is able to pierce the armor of Golemon (revealing the black body of it) allowing ExVeemon to blast Golemon away from the dam. Davis states that Ken is just trying to right his mistakes and protect the Digital World.
With a better understanding of Ken, Yolei is ready to fight again. With her new resolve, Hawkmon is able to Digivolve to Aquilamon. With Aquilamon's help, Golemon is made short work of. With the threat gone, Davis once more asks if Ken wants to join him and Mimi, but Ken refuses. Ken thanks Davis for telling him about this, but he says that he still needs to think on some things before he joins him for good. When Yolei asks Davis what he is doing, Davis states that he feels that Ken would be a great help and leaves to go back to meet with Mimi. He reminds them that they are welcome to greet Mimi if they are done with what they were doing.
Chapter 19: United We Stand
A few days later while the younger Digidestined and Davis are in the Digital World, Izzy suddenly contacts the Digidestined that he's getting a bizarre signal in the area where Ken's base went down. Mimi is unfortunately home sick due to a bug she got when she moved, and Palmon is taking care of her. When Palmon got the message, she contacted Davis telling him what Izzy said.
Davis tells the other Digimon that something came up and that he and Veemon will have to head out. Veemon Armor Digivolves into Raidramon and the two race over to meet the others. He gets there a little bit before the others and calls Izzy. Izzy begins to explain that there is a massive power build up in the Digimon Emperor's base, and if it goes on too long, it will explode, taking out a huge part of the Digital World.
When Davis wonders what could cause it, he realizes that it must be because Ken's Crest of Kindness is no longer there. Despite the protests of the others, Davis contacts Ken and tells him to bring his Crest. It is while they are waiting that the lady from before creates an Okuwamon from ten of the Control Spires. Everyone Digivolves or Armor Digivolves their Digimon, and they begin to combat it. They are quickly being overwhelmed by the Ultimate Digimon. Davis is about to Spirit Evolve into Loweemon but stops when Ken arrives.
Stingmon joins the fight, and he and ExVeemon are able to hold off Okuwamon. Davis states that now that Ken is here, they can go in and put his crest back to stop the explosion. Ken refuses stating that he will be doing this alone so that if anything goes wrong, he will be the only one hurt. Davis slaps Ken and yells at him to look around. There are still tons of Control Spires around here, and there is an entire world out there that they have to protect and rebuild, but they can only do that if he's still there. Davis admits that he went off on his own but that did not mean he didn't get help.
Unfortunately, Davis' statement causes the woman to realize that there are still some Control Spires to transform. With her realization, she transforms them into another Okugamon. The inclusion of the other Digimon put ExVeemon and Stingmon on the defensive.
Ken is demoralized about seeing Stingmon get smacked around, but Davis is quick to tell him to not give up. Ken asks what's the point, but Davis says there is always another way to win. It's at this point that Stingmon and ExVeemon are knocked back towards Davis and the others. Davis finishes by stating that they've always got to try otherwise they will lose their Digimon. This focuses Ken back, because he refuses to ever lose Wormmon again.
Davis goes on to say that he could be out there with their Digimon fighting, but right now, he needs to talk some sense into Ken. Unnoticed by Davis and Ken, an aura was forming around both Ken and Davis. Davis finally ends this with something that Leomon told him. Guilt is not a bad thing, but if you let your life be dictated by guilt, then you will just be repeating the same mistakes.
Ken asks what he should do, and Davis responds that he shouldn't hesitate and focus on helping out their Digimon. With that said, the auras around Davis and Ken burst forward and Davis' D-Tector glows, and Ken's Digivice floats in front of him before it transforms into a Digivice Burst. Instinctively, they perform a Full Charge and ExVeemon and Stingmon Digivolve into Paildramon and Dinobeemon. With Paildramon and Dinobeemon fighting the Okugamon and straight up overpowering them, the rest go into the base to stop the energy build up.
The woman, seeing that her Control Spire Digimon were not going to stop them, created her final Digimon, several Dokugumon. Davis yells at them to keep running while he holds them off. Davis quickly Spirit Evolves into Loweemon to the distress of TK. He then quickly destroys all the Dokugumon as they are dazed before running after the others. An explosion happens in the wreckage so he rushes in after them.
Loweemon Slide Evolves into JagerLoweemon as he chases the scent of the other Digidestined and Ken. He finds them standing near a strange tower in a dark room. Dark energy was flowing into it, but strangely, JagerLoweemon was able to sense an energy source counteracting the energy. Acting quickly, JagerLoweemon destroyed the siphon, releasing the energy harmlessly. He then Slide Evolves into Loweemon, while the rest of the group celebrates since Izzy informs them that the energy level has dissipated.
Meanwhile, Paildramon and Dinobeemon are fighting the Okugamon, when they also hear the explosion from the base. With the rising sense of danger, Paildramon and Dinobeemon bind the two Ultimates before destroying them. Together, they fly through the walls and look for their partners. They arrive just in time to see a ball of light float in front of Ken.
Ken is quite shocked to see the ball of light in front of him. He's even more surprised to see it transform into a humanoid Digimon. Loweemon recognizes it as Lobomon, the legendary warrior of Light and his brother. Lobomon begins to speak to Ken stating that he has grown beyond what he was when he was the Digimon Emperor, but he also reminds Ken (and consequently the others) that the Darkness is not something to be feared. As he retreats back into his Spirit form, he leaves a final message to Davis, thanking him for using his brother's power for good like he always wanted. With his piece said, the Spirit of Light retreats into Davis' D-Tector.
The moment of silence is ruined when Dinobeemon and Paildramon plow through the walls screaming if they need help. Ken tells them that everything is okay, and the two relax. Everyone exits the building, with Loweemon Slide Evolving into JagerLoweemon to carry a few of the Digidestined out, and once that's done, Paildramon and Dinobeemon de-Digivolve into DemiVeemon and Minomon.
With the threat over and the sun going down, everyone leaves to head home. When Davis gets back, he immediately goes over to Mimi's to check on her. He finds her looking a lot better and sitting on her bed with Calumon resting on a pillow near her head. As Davis greets her and shares that he found the last of the Human Spirits, they agree to go to Datamon's cave to get Agunimon.
Chapter 20: Warriors Gathering, DNA Digivolution Explained (This is pretty much just the exposition express)
When they got there, all 10 human spirits appeared before Davis and Mimi. Agunimon congratulates them on doing a job well done finding all the Human Spirits. Loweemon states that they have also done well against the corruption of Darkness and have become all the stronger for it. Davis asks what they should do next. Kazemon says that they will need to find the remaining Beast Spirits. Mimi asks where they are, but the Spirits don't know. All they do know is that the Dark Masters used them to form several seals throughout the Digital World. Interestingly, the Spirit of Thunder flows into Mimi's D-Tector.
It is at this point that the Human and Beast Spirits of Fire fly into Dav
Before they could go further in their realization, Izzy contacts them stating that he found something interesting about Veemon and Wormmon's Digivolution. He needs all the active Digidestined present tomorrow to explain because it gets complicated. Upon hearing this, Davis and Mimi send a message to Izzy, telling him they will be there. When Mimi asks Davis what Izzy meant about Veemon Digivolving, Davis happily explains that Veemon was able to reach the Ultimate level. The two keep talking about this new development and others, before Mimi's parents come in and tell Davis it's time to leave. Davis leaves, but he leaves DemiVeemon to keep Mimi company and occupy Calumon.
The following day, Davis, Mimi and all the others meet up at Izzy's place. It's where Izzy reveals that the Digivolution of Veemon and Wormmon are actually the results of DNA Digivolution with each other. The only reason that the two Digimon didn't DNA Digivolve with each other was because Ken and Davis both unlocked their DNA at another level. However, this brings up the potential for the other Digidestined to DNA Digivolve with each other.
This brings Izzy back to the point that DNA Digivolving has already happened with Omnimon. This prompts Izzy to reveal why the original Digidestined cannot Digivolve to the Ultimate or Mega level. When Yolei brings up the fact that Palmon can Digivolve to the Mega Level, Izzy points out that he doesn't know how she can trigger the Digivolution. Mimi, herself, says that she doesn't exactly know how she can Digivolve Palmon to the Mega level. She just is able to do so, but Izzy says that with Mimi, Davis, and Ken all pushing their Digimon to Ultimate (and beyond in Mimi's case), this brings the potential for all the others to do the same.
Davis brings a point of realism to the story, by reminding the rest that it could just be a one time thing. The others may need to actually combine their Digimon for this to work, so it's better to not get your hopes up. He also brings up the point that what they should really be focusing on is how they are going to deal with the woman. Mimi asks if Davis ever scanned her with his D-Tector, prompting Davis to face palm.
