Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.
Eleven year old Shin grunted with effort as she loaded yet another box onto the transport. Apparently, there was no age limit on working in a labor camp. She had spent the last year, she still wasn't sure where exactly, digging up relics and other things the Empire was apparently interested in. Now, the relics were being loaded up to be taken to Coruscant, and the slaves were going to be taken somewhere else. But Shin had been planning her escape, and today was the day. Hopefully, the Force would be with her. Yes, she had heard about the Force, heard the others whispering about it. She wasn't sure why she could feel it, but it certainly had been helpful at times, so she was glad to have it. Stealing a glance to make sure no one was watching, she slipped into her hiding place and waited. She felt the ship fire up, and heard what she suspected was the sound of the hyperdrive powering up. Going to Coruscant was risky, but perhaps the easiest way to hide from the Empire...was to be right under its nose. She didn't drop her gaurd, she didn't want to be found like the last time she stowed away, but she couldn't stop herself from thinking about the last year. She had gotten quite strong, physically, doing such manual labor. That would probably come in handy. She had gotten quite strong emotionally too, she hadn't cried at all the entire time. She wouldn't give them the satisfaction.
The trip was long, but Shin eventually felt the ship land. She stayed hidden, waiting to sneak out until the troopers were busy unloading the cargo. She ran in the opposite direction the troopers were going, finding a drain in the ground and quickly pulling the grate off so she could slip in. She ran through dark wet tunnels, coming to an abrupt stop at an opening. She saw starships of all kinds ascending and descending in what seemed to be a giant hole in the stacked city. A large ship with a flat top descended, and Shin took a chance. Running, then jumping, and then landing on top of it. She'd probably be safer in the lower levels anyway.
A whole year had passed, and Baylan still hadn't found his daughter. He had chased every lead he could find, but always ended up hitting a dead end. The Force was still clouded. It was almost as though it didn't want him to find Shin. Well, the Force could just forget about its will. He was going to find her.
A/N: I know, it's short. Next chapter is going to be a few highlights from Shin's time on Coruscant. I apologize for any grammar mistakes. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
