AN: Hello this is my first fanfic. This story will be dark as it will have blood, death, animal abuse and experimentation, just a warning so by chance if you're sensitive towards that stuff. It will explore a theory I have about the PAW Patrol being a government experiment. Some of you might think it's cringy but it's just my imagination so please don't be too hard in the reviews. Rated T for now and will have strong language.

Also I don't own anything other than OCs.

CH1

His steps felt heavy against the side of the glass building, step by step, one at a time. He didn't feel fear like he used to, before the… incident. Even now as he was elevated hundreds of feet staring straight down at the streets below. What was there to be scared of now?

"Chase, you there yet?" A feminine voice cut through his communication headset.

"Just a few more stories to go." He responded.

He kept moving, walking to the side to avoid the lit room he was about to walk over. He heard laughter coming from it with shadows moving inside, probably a family enjoying themselves but Chase couldn't afford to be compromised. This was probably the most intense mission he'd ever executed as one slip up could mean the end of everyone.

He came to a stop over a dark room and peeked inside, the lights were off and there was no one in sight. He did manage to see the room number above the rear door which confirmed he was over the right apartment.

"Alright Skye, entering the room now." Chase reported before he took out his glass cutter and sliced a small hole out big enough for him to slip through.

"Copy that… please be careful Chase." Skye almost whispered those last words.

Skye was a good girl, always looked out for him and seemingly always saw past the BS. Her affection towards him did bug the lead pup sometimes but a part of him new he took her for granted, he didn't deserve her.

He shook the thoughts away as he stepped on a desk below the hole and unhooked the cord he used to rappel down.

Inside the room, he scanned the shadows and sniffed the air. No recent scent nor movement or sounds. The area was vacant for now.

Relief fell over him and he began to search the desk he was just on and dug through the drawers and read through the documents, anything that could give them a clue to where Ryder was.

He found nothing but old reports and a torn note with passwords for various sights. He began to search the filing cabinets, then moved on to the drawers and cabinets of the whole apartment.

"Hey Chase ugh… I don't think there's any bombs in this building dude." Marshall nervously broke the silence over the comm headset.

"Just keep looking bud, Adventure City depends on us." Chase responded with false determination. He didn't get a reply.

"Have you found anything?" Skye asked, she switched the device back to private.

Chase sighed. "No, only thing I haven't looked at was his computer."

He gave up on the nightstand he was searching in and made for the desk. He took that torn note and powered on the computer. His eyes immediately fell on the FIP Corp Window and clicked on it. An intro screen popped up along with a chilling but as normally soothing tune.

FUTURE INNOVATION AND PRESERVATION CORP!

SAVING THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY TODAY!

The screen faded and Chase grimaced.

"Sure you are." He muttered.

"What?" Skye asked, hearing him.

"Nothing, just this computer." He responded sheepishly.

The next screen popped up requiring a password. He looked down at the note and growled in frustration. The passwords were long and weren't labeled to any sight. This was going to take awhile.

He went through two of the passwords and was one attempt from being locked out of the sight. He grumbled and almost felt like crying, the mission had so far gone on without a hitch. He looked down at the last one which was crossed out.

"F it." He said as he punched it in.

ACCESS GRANTED, WELCOME BACK DR. LEVY!

He exhaled and rested his head. A new screen popped up.

JUST ONE MORE STEP!

His ears sank.

CAN YOU REMIND US OF THE FOUR S'S OF OUR COMPANY VALUES?

Four boxes popped up. Chase lost all hope, because it took him three attempts to sign in it probably triggered a second verification step.

"What's wrong Chase?" He heard Skye ask.

"There's another verification step, it's asking me what the four Values are of there company." He explained.

"Oh that's easy, Science, Security, Solidarity, and Sacrifice." She chirped.

"Oh okay.… are you sure?" Chase asked surprisingly.

"Are you really asking that?" Skye asked.

Chase felt his face heat up as he can fill her deadpan behind the headset.

"It's amazing what you could learn if you pay attention to your environment." Skye noted with amusement.

Chase typed in the four words, he was in. His guard went down and he felt brave enough to say something he normally wouldn't. "You know, you're the best Skye."

"… I know I am." She briefly paused before answering.

He blushed. The words didn't come out the way he wanted but he could tell by her voice she understood him.

Chase looked through the tabs before clicking on personal messages. He saw a recent message sent to the U.S. DOD that read: Subject 00 moved to East Checkpoint awaiting evaluation. It displayed a map of Adventure Island with a red dot on a bridge connecting the island to the U.S. Mainland.

"Hey I found him! It's showing his exact location on a map." Chase reported.

"How old is the message?" Skye asked, excitement filling her.

"Dr. Levy just sent it today! I'll get a picture of it and be back on the roof in a minute, and I think it's time for you to let the other pups know what's going on." Chase ordered.

"On it, Chase!" Skye cut off.

Chase used his claw to pull out a cracked tablet out of his pup pack and snapped a photo. He then put the tablet back and made sure to log out of the sight before turning the computer off.

The door knob to the room started to turn.

"Crap!" Chase spat as he jumped on the desk and picked up the discarded glass piece before sealing it in after he jumped out of the window. He heard the door open as he started to climb up on the cord.

He made it to the roof in no time as he zipped up and unhooked his grappling hook. Skye glided down beside him on her pack wings.

"The others know, confused but on their way." She informed.

"Good, only thing to worry about now is getting him out of there."

BOOOM!!

A bright explosion two buildings over caused them to hit the ground.

Chase looked up in disbelief, his vision blurry and the only thing he could hear is ringing. They… actually rigged the building with explosives!

Tears fell down his face as the reality of the situation settled in.
