Perry returned to Jeremy's house. "Hey, Perry!" Jeremy said, picking up the platypus. "Phineas and Ferb just left but you can help me with this is you want!"

Phineas stapled all the pictures Ferb took to a bulletin board. The bike and the unopened bag of bike chains, the table, chair and paint, the broken charger, and then put the paper of his notes on the board as well. "So why does this duck have fur?" Phineas said, examining all the clues gathered. Ferb shrugged.

"And why the broken charger?" Phineas questioned. "What is the point of snapping the charger if you can just unplug the phone?"

"Perhaps there is a higher reasoning for it," Ferb suggested.

"Maybe, but if so, then what? Why would you snap a cord in two instead of unplugging the phone?"

"Perhaps the culprit was trying to hide their trail," Ferb suggested.

"Yeah, but what would they need to hide? They already left paint on the table, leaving the chair pulled out. The culprit is obviously small, as they needed the chair to get on top of the table, but they can't fly. They are also stealthy enough that Jeremy didn't hear them. And I didn't notice any latent fingerprints either. If the culprit has fur, or even fake fur, they would've had their fingerprints covered so there would be no evidence in searching for those."

"Now you're speaking like a detective," Candace said. "Although I'm not sure what a latent fingerprint is."

"A latent fingerprint is a print left behind on a surface, that's not paper, from the oils in your skin," Phineas explained. "The usual way to find those prints is close examination or dusting with special powder that latches onto the print when you dust it."

"Oh," Candace said.

"So because this culprit has fur, possibly, then there would be no fingerprint because the fur would hide it," Phineas finished.

Jeremy knocked on the door. "I'll get it!" Candace said. She ran over to the door to see Jeremy holding Perry and a decorative party bag. "There you go, Perry," Jeremy said, putting Perry on the ground. Perry rejoined Phineas and Ferb.

"Hi again, Jeremy," Candace said.

"Hey, Candace. I wanted to return Perry. He wandered off and came back to my place." They stared at each other for a second. "Oh, I also got this." He held up the party bag, decorated with red stripes on a blue background. "It's for you."

"Oh, thank you!" Candace gladly accepted the bag and opened it. She pulled out some tissue paper and pulled out her limited edition Ducky Momo plate she broke a week ago. "Oh," Candace said, hiding her face with the plate. She sniffled.

"I had to fix it. I saw you leave the con upset. So when I walked over to where you were, I saw you broke your Ducky Momo plate. I gathered up the pieces, payed for them, and then brought it home to fix it. I was going to wait for your birthday but...I couldn't wait any longer!" Jeremy stated.

"Oh, Jeremy!" Candace said, placing the plate inside the bag, putting it on a desk nearby, and throwing open her arms. She hugged Jeremy. "Thank you!"

"No problem, Candace," Jeremy said, returning the hug. "Perry helped fix it up a bit too."

"Perry did too?" Candace checked.

"That's right."

"I'll have to thank him later then!" They broke the embrace. "Did you find your phone?"

"No," Jeremy said. "I haven't even heard it ring. It's super weird. Especially that fur. I found more, by the way, in case your brothers want it." Jeremy pulled out a clump of fur from his pocket. "Oh," Candace said. She grimaced as she grabbed the fur from Jeremy. "I'l just give this to them." She walked away, the fur cupped in her hands. "Here, Jeremy found more fur," Candace said, dropping the fur on the table.

"Thanks, Candace!" Phineas said. Candace quickly washed her hands before returning back to Jeremy. "So...are you up to anything today?" Jeremy asked, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Me? No!" Candace replied.

"'Cause I was thinking we could get a smoothie," Jeremy said.

"Smoothies are great! I love smoothies!" Candace answered quickly.

"Cool. I know you're busy watching your brothers right now so I'll come by later and pick you up."

"Okay!" Candace said.

"Bye, Candace," Jeremy waved.

"Bye!" She closed the door and rejoined Phineas and Ferb in the kitchen. Perry sniffed the clump of fur on the table as she did so.

"Find anything?" she asked.

"No," Phineas said. "Whoever the culprit is, they are very clever. They hid their tracks really well. Maybe we should do another scan on the fur sample..."

"That would be great!" Candace said. "'Cause mom is coming back soon and she can see!" Candace giggled.

"Hey, that's a great idea!" Phineas exclaimed. "Maybe she knows where the fur came from!"

Phineas grabbed the fur sample Perry was smelling and ran back outside with it. He ran it through the machine again. Once again, it came out as duck. "Maybe we need to wash it?" Candace asked.

"Wash it?" Phineas repeated. "That's actually a really good idea, Candace!" Ferb entered the garage and came back out with a pail. He filled it with water, entered the kitchen, came back out with the dish soap and squeezed some inside the pail. Phineas rolled up his sleeves and put the clump of fur inside.

He and Ferb began scrubbing the tiny chunk of fur, bathing it enough for bubbles to rise and spill over the side. Once washed, and dried with Candace's hair dryer, Phineas ran it through the machine again.

The machine processed it with a small buzzing sound, eventually turning to a hum, and then a mechanical screech. "Is it supposed to make that sound?" Candace yelled, covering her ears.

"No!" Phineas yelled back. "Ferb! Turn it off!"

Ferb walked around to the back of the machine and flinched. "You might want to have a look at this," Ferb said in his loudest voice. It wasn't loud enough but Phineas saw him say something so he went to join him.

"What is i-WOAH!" Phineas cried. "Where did the back panel go?" Phineas yelled.

"The what?" Candace screamed.

"THE BACK PANEL!" Phineas grabbed a monkey wrench, put on some rubber gloves, wrapped the monkey wrench in a paper towel and smacked the machine with it. It stopped screaming but, in turn, started to spark.

"I said the back panel is missing!" Phineas repeated.

"The back panel?" Candace checked. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. Yes I am." Candace joined her brothers behind the machine. The back of the machine is missing the whole back panel, a few cords sticking out, a green light blinking, and sparks flying fill the inside of the machine. "That looks scary," Candace said. "I need to get this off but the power button was on the panel. I'll just have to try a different way." Phineas put the second rubber glove on and gripped the monkey wrench with both hands. He rolled his sleeves back down. He reached his hand inside the sparking cords, being sure to keep his nose as far away from the cords as possible, and twisted at a knob inside. The machine turned off, causing the green light to stop blinking and the sparks to calm down a bit.

"Good thing we put that emergency shut down in there."

"What happened?" Candace asked.

"The back panel was purposefully torn off," Phineas replied. "This calls for an investigation!"

"Hey, kids," Linda said, walking in through the fence. "How was it while I was out."

"Great, mom!" Phineas replied. "Ferb and I found a case to discover!"

"That's nice." Linda walked past the kids without noticing their broken machine in the yard. Candace glanced at the machine, then at Linda, back at the machine, and her mom. "Mom! Wait!"

"Ferb? Do you still have the imploding controller?" Ferb held up a small controller with three buttons on it, one purple, one red, and one green. There is a large antennae on the controller with a clear orb on the top. "Great, let's handle this mess."

Phineas and Ferb walked into the house. Ferb pointed the controller at the machine and pushed the red button. The machine vibrated, floated, shrank into itself, and then vanished.
