Professor Selene sat in her office when she heard a chime from the elevator. "Come in." She said then she saw Lapis walk in her office. "Ah, Miss Lazuli. How can I...?"
"Please don't tell me what I heard was true. That the Burning Suns were hired as part of the security detail for the Vytal Festival." Lapis said.
Selene sighed. "I am truly sorry to say that it is. I'm no happier about it than you, but the Council ruled it by a three-to-one vote over mine. I'm sorry, Lapis but I'm afraid that my hands are tied on this matter."
Lapis sighed. "Thank you for your time, Professor." She said then left the office.
When she returned to Team LEMO's dorm, her teammates looked at her.
"Is it true?" Ember asked.
Lapis nodded. "It's true. And Selene was outvoted on the matter so she can't get rid of the Burning Suns being the security detail for the Festival." She said, translating for Magenta before flopping down onto her bed with a heavy sigh.
Onyx placed a hand on her leader's, causing the girl to turn to her and see a reassuring smile on the hybrid's face. Lapis smiled back softly. "Thanks, Nyx."
"No problem." She said.
"...By the way, your last name is Branwen, right?"
Onyx nodded. "But I'm not Raven's daughter. I'm her niece."
"So..." Ember started.
"Yep. I'm the daughter and only child of Qrow Branwen, notorious bandit and leader of the Branwen Tribe."
Lapis translated for Magenta.
"Does he know?" The winged Faunus asked.
Onyx nodded. "Yeah. But he said that while I'm here, I have to prove that I'm worthy to even be called a Branwen."
"Who was your mother?" Lapis asked.
"I never knew her name, but she was a shark Faunus like me. According to Qrow, she lived in the city of Mountain Glenn."
The three were stunned to learn this. "How did you survive?" Ember asked.
"...According to Aunt Raven, I was saved by someone named Sapphire."
"...That was my mother's name!" Lapis said.
"Your mom was a legend among your family." Ember said to her leader.
Lapis smirked. "The Lazuli family has been taught here at Beacon since the school was founded. It became a tradition and a legacy."
The three girls nodded then spent some time relaxing with each other, as there were no classes that day.
Later on as the sun began to set, a white stretch limo pulled up in front of a restaurant. Out of the backdoor stepped Blake, Velvet, Sun, and Neon. Blake was wearing a simple black dress that stopped below her knee. Velvet and Neon wore similar dresses, but in brown and light blue respectively. Sun just wore a black suit shirt, a light blue tie, dark pants, and black boots. Blake had her helmet tucked under her arm.
A man was standing outside, waiting for them. "Ah, Miss Belladonna. Welcome. The Red Reaper is expecting you. But first, I must ask you leave your weapons in your car."
"Your mere asking is no guarantee." Velvet sneered.
"I know, Miss Scarlatina. It's merely the policy of the restaurant. Please, follow me." He said then lex them inside. Save one table, the place was empty. At said table, Ruby sat in a red reached the length of Blake, Velvet, and Neon's. Jaune, Cardin, and Coco were sitting with her. Jaune wore a suit that was white with orange lining. Cardin wore a silver suit with gold trim. Coco just wore a mocha colored suit.
Ruby saw Blake and her Faunus friends walking to them and smirked. "Welcome, High Leader Belladonna. Please, have a seat. And may I say the stories I've heard do you no justice."
Blake sat across from Ruby with a neutral expression. "I've heard about your reputation as well, Miss Rose." She said as Sun, Velvet, and Neon sat with Blake. "Sun and Velvet inform me that they've been speaking with Mr. Arc and Miss Adel about a possible collaboration between our organizations?"
"Let's not rush this yet, High Leader. What say we enjoy a nice dinner first and some delicious red wine? Garçon!" Ruby said and a waiter rushed to them, looking a little nervous. "I'm feeling like having some veal tonight."
"Make that two!" Cardin smirked.
"I think I'll have some minced pork noodles." Jaune said.
"So will I." Coco said.
"I'll just have a salad. I'm a vegetarian." Velvet said.
"I'll have some cooked salmon." Blake said.
"I'll have some tuna casserole." Neon said.
"And I'll have a banana cream pie!" Sun said.
The waiter wrote their orders down then hastily walked to the kitchen. A woman brought them a red wine bottle and eight glasses for it then set it down on the table and walked away. Their food was delivered to them shortly after and they began to eat in silence. Coco and Velvet kept glancing at each other while eating and Coco winked at the rabbit Faunus, who smiled softly.
When they finished eating, Ruby poured the wine into the glasses and everyone took a glass. "Now, we can talk about business. I think our two groups can help each other."
"How so?" Blake asked, taking a sip of her glass.
"We have a common enemy in the people who run the four Kingdoms. With my help, the White Fang will have some more...effective means of fighting our shared enemy."
Blake had a defensive look on her face. "My forces are more than effective!"
"What I mean is...I can provide you and your followers with some effective firepower. We're talking military grade weapons and transportation, and even Dust."
That caused Blake to pause and consider her next words. Finally, she said...
"I'm listening."
"I have a lot of weapons to distribute but the cops are all over my ass that I can't sell a damn thing. But, if the White Fang were to...'acquire' these weapons, they'd have a better than even chance of really making a difference for all of Faunus kind. All I ask is that while my guys gather up Dust, you and your soldiers take half of the Dust, including half of what I already have. And I'll have satisfaction of knowing these goods will be more than capable hands."
Blake and her high ranking members present looked at each other.
"We benefit from this as much as Miss Rose does." Velvet said.
"It sounds like a pretty good deal to me." Sun agreed.
Neon smirked.
Blake turned to Ruby and raised her glass with a smirk. "Miss Rose... I think this is going to be a very beneficial deal."
Ruby clinked her glass against Blake's as their thugs cheered, having never imagined something like this while the eight inner circle members just smirked at each other.
