Kagome wasn't sure if they'd reach the point of her hugging him in public, even though they'd spent countless nights sharing the same batch of furs, so she hugged Ah-Un instead. "Remind me to find you a treat later, okay?"

"You could have escaped at any time," Sesshoumaru sniffed, ushering her out of the cell, Ah-Un leading the way. "The guard bringing you food would have easily fallen from your attack."

She preened at his confidence in her, then shrugged. "I didn't want to incite a riot when you were gone." And it was the truth. If they'd come after her with an actual weapon, she would've defended herself, but she wasn't about to cause trouble in his home, especially when he wasn't there.

"So you allowed them to keep you in squaller for days instead?"

Biting her lip, she gave him a sheepish smile. "I probably would've been let out sooner, but Jaken kept demanding obedience, and I just couldn't bow to him."

Sesshoumaru's hand settled on the small of her back as he let out a low growl. "He will pay for his insolence."

She covered her mouth to stifle her laughter. "Well, at least he got one thing right." A raised eyebrow was her only reply. "He said that about me too."
