The first thing she noticed upon going to the doctor's clinic was simply how empty it looked. She knew that he was inside based on the lights, but even that did not detract from the drab gray paint of the walls and silence from the windows that never opened even during the heat of summer. Even still it looked better than the apartment she was used to, what with its walls being an even more dead yellow. The gray was deliberate at least, the choice of a practical man that didn't want to be seen. Which may have been an oxymoron given that he wanted to be called Dr. Sunshine but who was she to judge? As she finished her trek to the door, she rang the doorbell to the locked office door.
"Hello? It's me Nelly! I've come for the meeting!" After the doorbell rang out, she shouted to make sure he heard her. She was decently sure it was pointless, given that he may have already heard her, but it was good form to at least announce who you were when going to a meeting that nobody else was supposed to know about.
"I'll be right there, just give me a few seconds to finish lifting this!" Came a voice from inside the house. It sounded strained, but it did confirm that he was in the house at least. After a few seconds more, the door unlocked with a click, and opened to reveal the doctor in more casual clothes, still wearing his white overcoat, but now wearing a more distinctive black shirt and gray pants.
"Good to see you doctor." She nodded towards the taller man. He looked down at her, and simply nodded to her.
"Good to see you as well. Now please follow me, I'm guessing you want this done before it becomes the dark of night proper." He began to walk deeper into the building, gesturing for her to follow along as he went. As they went into a staff only room (which she thought was strange, given that he was the only one that worked here) she saw it opened into a kitchen and dining room hybrid, which was surprisingly spacious all things considered.
"Why is this here in a clinic? Do you live here?" She would be unsurprised if he really did live in his clinic. There was simply too much space that wasn't used for it to be anything else, and often he handled scheduled appointments rather than being ready for emergency, though with how few scheduled with him consistently that was a rarity.
"I do actually live here, which should also explain the first question." He opened the fridge and pulled out a notably large watermelon, which he placed on the table near some medical instruments."I'll be using those to look at your bones while you swallow the watermelon." He explained as he gathered them up while looking at her expectantly. "Take a seat please."
"I'm beginning to get excited here!" She spoke with stars of happiness dancing in her eyes as she sat down looking at the watermelon. "Just give me the signal, I wanna see what I can do!"
"A few seconds then please, these instruments are finicky and I would rather not have to recalibrate them fully." He was fiddling with various dials or pressing other buttons, he looked animated almost, and the notebook and pencil near him had already had several lines worth of words or numbers written in it. "And… you can begin."
The words had barely come out of his mouth before she had grabbed the watermelon and attempted to swallow it. At first it hadn't done anything but make her look weird as she tried to fit her mouth around it, but gradually she managed to get more and more into her mouth, beginning the watermelon's descent.
"It seems like her bones are more like a liquid than a solid, but how could that be…" He seemed puzzled, and the scribbling of his pencil against paper grew faster with every second.
*Gulp* She pushed the entire watermelon into her throat, dragging it down and making her throat bulge with its imprint. She didn't look nearly as exhausted from swallowing the watermelon, and still had a pleased look on her face.
*Gulp* With a final gulp she swallowed the watermelon fully, making her stomach bulge out with the remains of her actions. She could pass as fully pregnant if she said she had twins, though with her expression of pleasure it didn't seem like she would be getting up anytime soon.
"The stomach's walls seem to act differently as well, perhaps the difference in swelling and skin tightness is due to an automatic function? No matter, how do you feel?" The doctor had looked up from his instruments, turning them off and placing them to the side.
"I feel great! This is much better already. I feel fuller than I ever have!" She was rubbing her distended stomach while smiling, already the sounds of her stomach had begun to emanate in a chorus of gurgles and sloshing. Leaning back in her seat, she relaxed and basked in the feeling of being full without the pain she had originally felt. "I'm getting a bit tired, do you mind if I sleep here for the night?" She asked, smiling without a care in the world.
"You can take the guest bedroom, head up the stairs and it will be the second door on the left." He said, moving towards and up the stairs himself.
"Alright then!" She said, almost skipping were it not for her being weighed down. "This will take a bit of getting used too…" She muttered as she went up the stairs, reaching the guest room and heading into it. "But this I could get used to." She said under her breath, the room itself was much nicer than her room at the apartment. "If what he said is true, I could get used to this and more." She said with finality, stripping and lying in bed. Falling asleep to the sounds of the watermelon being digested.
When she woke again, she could almost feel her new weight. "Not much more, but this is just a starting point." She said to the mirror, looking at herself in the mirror. She also noticed that if she focused, it felt like she could see just that little bit more, and hear just a little farther. Even her hair had gained some length, along with being slightly shiner as well. To her? This was the first step in a wonderful road, and she wanted to walk it until she was better than she had ever felt. "Maybe I should ask the doctor if he knows someone who nobody will remember… I want to feel that fullness again." She said as she dressed herself, leaving the room with a flick of the switch, and a new urge to fulfill.
