Chapter 7: The Startled Apprentice

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or the OCs

Naruto is not an only child. Naruto has two twin siblings and a six-year older "cousin". A twin brother Yato Uzumaki-Namikaze (God of calamity Yato with blond hair) and a twin sister Mito Uzumaki-Namikaze (Mito Jūjō). His older "Cousin" is Erza Uzumaki (Erza Scarlet). Erza is a distant relative of Kushina to the point where they are only related by the Uzumaki clan. Everything else should be explained, If you have any questions just ask and I will try to get to you.

Konohagakure no sato Year 78

He could feel his blood boil in anticipation, It was almost time. Today, after four excruciatingly long and boring years, they were going to graduate. While he understood why they were made to sit through these four years it did not mean he had to like or enjoy it in the slightest. In fact, the simplest way to put it was that he detested wasting time in here learning his pointless stuff when he could be outside growing stronger and fighting stronger and stronger opponents. They could leave all the technical and political crap to his sister who desired their father's position as Hokage. All he wanted was to fight an opponent that caused every nerve in his body to scream out in joy and terror.

"Ahh, Yato-kun looks so amazing today as well, doesn't he?" Yato was drawn out of his thoughts when he heard one of the voices of the many fangirls in the class compliment him once again. Turning his head slightly he directed a warm yet slightly embarrassed smile towards the girl.

'They all go out of their to complement me yet none currently have any hope of even being considered for a potential girlfriend much less wife." The golden-haired boy thought in an amused manner as he silently swept his gaze over the girls while dismissing each of them as candidates for potential matriarchs. While most others, like Mito and Sasuke, had no desire for any type of relationship, Yato was different in the fact that he was fine with dating, it was just that he desired someone who could fight alongside him or challenge him even slightly. Sadly none of the girls in his graduating year came anywhere near doing so. While there was Mito, as marriage between families was not particularly frowned upon due to the necessity of keeping bloodlines as pure as possible, neither of them had any kind feelings towards the notion, nor would they ever participate in it. While they did love each other, even if they rarely showed it, it was only a sibling's love and would never become anything else.

Stretching his arms above his head slightly he looked around in confusion, 'Speaking of my sadist of a sister, where is she? She's never late.' Narrowing his eyes in concern and speculation he let his senses expand to their limits in an attempt to find his sister. While he could use the sensory abilities of his sister and mother, his were nowhere near as strong as theirs. Yet he could still cover the academy from top to bottom, though that was nearing his limit, letting him have a slight leg up on normal sensors while still falling short of his family.

After searching carefully, not that he needed to, considering his sister's unique chakra, he found her quickly. 'Hmm, Why is she on the roof? It appears there is someone up there with her.' While confused, he forced himself to focus more before recognizing the chakra that existed a few feet away from her. 'Ahh, I know who that is, It's impossible for anyone to mistake his chakra signature considering how easily it seems to blend with the remnant chakra in the air. Though I wonder what exactly they are chatting about up there.' Sighing, he stood up and started to make his way down the stairs to the middle of the classroom.

"Yato-kun? Where are you headed, the exam will begin soon." One of the girls in the class asked in confusion.

"Just going to check on my sister," Yato replied with a more relaxed and less embarrassed smile than he had worn earlier. He could have sworn he heard the girl say something after that though he was too lost in his thoughts to care enough to listen truly.

Quickly arriving at the stairs to the roof he casually strolled up the stairs acting as if nothing in the world could bother him. Reaching for the door he turned the handle before practically throwing it open, if only to annoy his sister with an overly loud entrance. He could immediately tell it worked by the withering glare that was now pinned on him by his sister, though he idly noted that Naruto, his oddly quiet and distant classmate, seemed more amused at his grand entrance than anything.

"Well hello, sister, Naruto, mind tellin' me what you two are doing up here when the exam is about to start?" He casually questioned. While his sister had turned her head to fully face him, he faintly noticed that Naruto had only slightly turned. Enough to indicate the acknowledgment of his presence but not enough to convey any interest in his arrival. Normally he would have been annoyed or at least curious about such actions, but since it was him it was understandable, When a person was able to make even the anbu cautious just through his natural aura then he could be as dismissive as he pleased.

"I noticed Naruto-san was up here and came to see what he was doing. After all the exam is starting soon and it would be a shame if someone in our class failed simply because they failed to show up for the test." Mito responded while giving their silver-eyed companion an obvious hint that she wasn't going to let hime skip.

"Hahaha, You take this way too seriously sis, I don't think Naruto will miss the test" He laughed before responding, taking some joy in the fact that someone else was getting hounded for their mistakes instead of him.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the silver-eyed boy stand up as he interlaced his hands and stretched them above his head. While doing this no one said anything, both he and his sister had stopped talking and their quiet companion had not said anything since Yato had been up there.

"While I don't mind the company, I came up here to review so you two talking is more distracting than helpful or welcome," Naruto said as he turned to face his two uninvited classmates. "Now, as Yato-san said, the graduation test will begin soon so we should head down so as to not miss it." With those final words, Naruto calmly walked towards the door and started to descend the stairs to head for his classroom, all the while ignoring the obviously agitated fox that refused to talk to him at this moment.

Konoha Academy Classroom Year 78

Quickly arriving a the classroom in the rather talkative company of the Uzumaki-Namikaze twins, Naruto was quick to separate from them soon after they entered, just before the final bell rang, though that didn't stop the class from whispering about why the classes, mostly, loner was with the most revered students in the entire academy. Quietly walking to his seat Naruto sat down and closed his eyes planning on diving into his mindscape to have a chat with his agitated companion. While the class was about to start, he knew it would take a long time till he was called as due to having no last name he was always called last.

Closing his eyes he felt the familiar feeling of falling that always accompanied his descent into his mindscape. Normally before entering Naruto would feel something akin to the breaking of being submerged in water before falling out of it into a cavern, which is an apt description considering his mindscape's current appearance, yet instead of the feeling of being submerged in an endless body of water, Naruto felt his body abruptly halt before a force seemed to refuse his entry before forcing his conscious mind back to the surface. Now Naruto knew full well that he could force his way into his mindscape but that would cause a rather painful backlash and he had no clue as to how his tenant would react to such actions, so he chose to simply ponder on what could have his companion in such a foul mood today.

Naruto sat quietly in his seat while waiting for his final test, at this point the other two tests had finished, and very rarely would he pay attention, only focusing enough to hear his name, though when he did he always made sure to keep track of the 'important people' among these people were, Shikimaru, Sasuke, Mito, Yato, Shino and, surprisingly, Kiba, though that was due mostly to having met Hana through his cousin as they were good friends, having observed one of their spars, Naruto knew full well what a trained and experienced inuzaka could do with the help of their partner or partners.

After a few more minutes of sitting in his seat, Naruto eventually heard the teacher call out his name. Heading down the steps he saw Mito slightly nod towards him and Yato grin in an amused and excited manner, aside from those two the only people he had ever talked to were Hinata and Shikamaru whom he had projects with. Hinata was too focused on staring at Yato while blushing up a visible storm and Shikamaru was, well he was sleeping like usual. Slightly sweeping his gaze over the twins in acknowledgment towards their versions of well wishings. Walking out of the classroom and into the adjacent room Naruto saw his three judges sitting behind the desk near the wall the first was Mizuke with his signature shoulder-length white hair with hints of blue in it, beside him was Iruka Umino with his prominent nose scar, the final one was Hiroshi who had no prominent scars or special hair color, the perfect definition of a background character.

"Thank you for coming in Naruto, Today we will be administering your final part of the graduation test, like always you did exceptionally well on both the written and taijutsu parts of the exam now all that's left is the ninjutsu. I need you to perform the three basics and that will be all, you can start when you are ready" Iruka kindly explained to the normally quiet boy.

"Yes, Sensei," Naruto responded in a staid and bored manner. Taking a step back Naruto quickly used Kawarimi with a small log on the other side of the room before using it again to end in his original position. After hearing his Sensei's approval naruto performed the shadow clone jutsu that Erza had taught him. Obviously, his teachers were surprised by his ability to do that if their almost slack jaws were any indication. Quickly stuttering out good job Iruka told Naruto to go on and perform the last jutsu the Henge. This was the one Naruto had been anticipating the most hence why he saved it for last, a small trick he found he could do with his nature domination was that he could change how his aura appeared to other sensory ninjas and normal civilians.

Slowly circulating his chakra along three different paths Naruto calmly envisioned the person he wanted to appear as and the aura he seemed to constantly emanate in a seemingly instinctual way. After the smoke that surrounded Naruto cleared it showed a completely different being, standing across from the three chunin was a man in his mid to late twenties standing at a good six one or two, with long shoulder-length shaggy orangish-red hair and two burning crimson eyes, his skin was tanned slightly giving the impression of someone who spent most of his time outside, he was wearing a baggy slightly open orange montsuki, it opened slightly to reveal the upper part of his chest and hung loosely on his shoulders, his chest and the visible parts of his arm's were well defined hinting at someone who excelled and commonly participated in fighting. But without a doubt the most striking part was the man's aura, It was regal without being too overbearing it inspired fear and subservience while not coming off as overwhelming, it had hints of wisdom and experience to it, the type of aura you would expect from an experienced and old elder who had lived through a waring time nearing the end of their life yet also had a amused trickster like undertone to it, it was the aura of someone that could give you the best life advice yet wouldn't simply to annoy you. The person Naruto had henged into was his tenant and teacher, the Kyuubi no Kitsune, not that anyone else knew that.

For a few moments, the three teachers could not say anything as they lowered their heads so as to not stare directly at the teasing and amused eyes of the being standing in front of them. It lasted only a few moments as Naruto quickly dismissed the henge before asking about his henge and whether it was good enough, once again stuttering Iruka barely confirmed and let Naruto return to the class with his head plate, meanwhile, neither of the other two teachers was able to extricate themselves from their reverie and fear of the aura of the man they saw but a glimpse of. It was lucky that Naruto was the final tester as it took the teachers almost 20 minutes to fully recompose themselves and get rid of the lingering fear and reverence.

Konoha Academy Classroom

After having sat through team assignments almost everyone had gotten put on a team, with the important ones being, Team 8 led by Kurenai Yuhi. This team consisted of Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru, Shino Aburame, and Hinata Hyuga. Next was Team Ten led by Asuma Sarutobi, with Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji. The last was an odd team led by Kushina with 4 members, those being Sasuke, Sakura, Mito, and Yato. All students had been assigned to a team, except Naruto who was still reeling in shock from learning that his slave driver of a temp teacher had somehow convinced the Hokage to let her take him on as an Apprentice. By now all the other teams except Kushinas had left, Sasuke and Yato were sitting at the bottom-most row chatting about what they would do while Sakura was fawning over the two. As for the Uzumaki heiress, she was sitting a few seats away looking at him and…Smirking? The purple-eyed redhead was directing a teasing smirk at him while practically overflowing with amusement. Even without his ability to sense emotions Naruto probably would have been able to notice it. He could feel his eye twitch in annoyance, from what he heard from Erza, her and Lady Kushina's training was quite similar and the blonde sitting below him was no doubt reveling in the fact someone would have to suffer as much as she did. She also seemed to notice his annoyance as her smirk widened just enough for him to see the slightly sharpened canine-like teeth.

BANG. The door slammed open as two stunning red-headed females and a lazy-looking silver-haired man walked into the room."Alright, team 7 you four are with me and Kakashi for the day. Head up to the roof and we will explain what we will be doing tomorrow." The one speaking was the leading female, he hair was tied up in a ponytail that slanted up-wards as the hair ended around her waist, and she was wearing the normal Jonin attire, minus the flak jacket as her shirt was more than enough and she preferred to use seals as an Uzumaki, with a katana strapped to her side in a beautiful ornate scabbard. As she finished her words both her and the silver-haired man vanished in two swirls of leaves. Clicking their tongues in annoyance the three Heirs similarly shunshined to the roof leaving only the pink-haired girl to run up to the roof.

"You ready, Whiskers?" Erza, who was dressed in her casual shinobi clothes, having gotten rid of her jonin vest similar to Kushina, was standing at the bottom with that infuriating smirk on her face as she gazed up at him. Despite how his eye was twitching she knew that deep down he was just as excited for the coming days as she was.

"Why couldn't you just let me join a normal team and go about my genin day in peace." Naruto bemoaned as he got out of his chair and started to sway as he walked down the steps with his eyes half closed."While you will no doubt be more fun than a normal team I have a feeling you are also going to be much more demanding than before." He muttered, now close enough to know she would hear.

"Hahahaha, don't be too down we are going to have so much fun, plus this is actually good as unlike other teams, including Kushina-sama's, we don't have to do D-rank and can directly skip it going straight to ow C-rank missions. She happily replied as he ended up close enough for her to yank his head into her chest for a small hug, the two had become close enough to consider each other siblings at this point.

"Heh, oh well can't change it now might as well just go with the flow and see what interesting things happen." He muttered after escaping from the minor death grip before his lips curled into an amused and slightly dark smile, temporarily letting his primordial chakra affect his mind.

I was originally planning on having Naruto's genin test in this chapter but decided to push it back to the next one since I would have hit 3k in a mere 500 words and want it to be much longer than that. Anyway, any advice would be great and until then have a great day or night.

Please do ask any questions if you have them I will try to answer them.
