CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE: HOMECOMING
Bosco...
A train stopped at Bosco's train station, where numerous townspeople where waiting, waving flags with God Pegasus's emblem on it.
"They've returned!"
Taped feet touched the platform to reveal Atlas with Nero at his side and Lucas and Shiro behind them. What they didn't expect was the townspeople of Bosco to cheer loudly for them as they departed from the train.
"Wow, what a homecoming..." Atlas blinked in amazement.
"We did win the whole tournament after all." Nero reminded.
The God Pegasus members walked through the crowd, hearing shouts of congratulations coming at them.
"Lucas-san! Your battle with Bacchus was amazing!"
"No way! His fight with the Twin Dragons was way better!"
Lucas laughed. "Thank you!" He thanked them, causing the girls who were shouting at him to swoon.
Everyone had eventually settled back into the guild hall, and within a few days, the normal routine started kicking back in for everyone. Lucas was currently resting his head on a table on the second floor of the guild.
"What's got you all depressed?"
Lucas moved his head to the side to see Atlas was joining him, making him sit up. "I'm so bored." He complained.
Atlas hummed. "I'm about to head out to accompany Erza, Gray, Wendy, and Carla on their job. Do you want to tag along?" He offered.
"Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. Spend some time with your girl and her guildmates. It'll strengthen our bond with our allies." Lucas declined.
"Master said the same thing when I told him." Atlas said before a look of irritation was plastered on his face. "And how many times do I got to tell you she's not 'my girl'? We're just friends."
"I said the same thing about Sting and look where that got me."
Atlas scoffed. "Yeah, but I'm not bonded to Erza by destiny like you are with him." He retorted, walking away towards the stairs to go down to the first floor.
"Touche..." Lucas mumbled before looking at Ace. "What do you say we head to Sabertooth and see if Sting and Rogue want to go on a job?"
"We can't."
"Why not?"
Ace gave him a look. "Sting is Sabertooth's master now. He has new responsibilities." He reminded.
Lucas sighed. "That's right. I had forgotten. Just thinking about it makes me more depressed." He mumbled.
Rogue and Frosch had entered the God Pegasus guild hall, getting Alyssa's attention. "Oh, Rogue. Are you looking for Lucas?" The white-haired woman asked.
"I am. Is he around?"
Alyssa pointed upwards towards the second floor. "He should be up there. Go on ahead." She replied.
Rogue nods in thanks before walking up the steps with Frosch right behind him. He spots Lucas sitting at a table along with Ace. "Hey." Rogue greeted, his voice getting Lucas's attention.
"Rogue? What are you doing here?" Lucas questioned.
"Sting sensed your distress through your shared link. So he sent me here to get you out of your depressed state." Rogue responded, pulling out a flier. "Want to head out on a job with me?"
Soon enough, Lucas, Rogue, Ace, and Frosch soon arrived at the train station. "Can't we just fly there?" Lucas asked, not wanting to go on the death trap.
"Unfortunately not. The client lives in Hargeon." Rogue responded, not liking the idea of riding the train either.
They had gotten on the train as it began to move, causing both of Lucas and Rogue's motion sickness to kick in.
Hargeon Town...
Lucas and Rogue had stepped off the train and onto the platform. "What's the job request?" Lucas asked as they were on their way to meet the client.
"Apparently, some thieves have been stealing some fish from a local fisherman." Rogue replied, making Lucas nod.
"Come to think of it, this is the first time you and I have been on a job, huh?" He questioned, crossing his arms. "Things have really changed between the three of us. Sting's now guild master and has new responsibilities placed on him."
Rogue stayed silent for a moment. "Even so, nothing has changed. We're still friends." He said.
The two of them plus Frosch and Ace finally met up with the client. "Are you the Sabertooth wizard responding to my request?" The client asked.
"Yes."
The client nodded. "My name is Fumio. I'm a local fisherman here that sells fish to the townspeople. It's how I make a living." He started to explain. "Recently, some theives have been stealing from me, and keeping customers away from my business. I've contacted the Magic Council about this, so all I need is for you to hunt them down and turn them in."
After visiting with Fumio, Lucas and Rogue got to work, heading to the docks where the thieves were last seen.
Once the job was done, Rogue collected the reward from Fumio and they headed back to the train station. "So Lady Minerva is missing?" Lucas said as Rogue was telling him about what happened.
"She's been missing since the end of the Grand Magic Games. We thought she was fighting somewhere when the dragons attacked, but after the fight ended, she didn't return to the guild." Rogue explained. "Jiemma had disappered, too. But our biggest concern is Minerva."
Lucas nodded in understanding. "I'll make sure to keep my ears open if I hear anything about her. Tell Sting I'll let him know if I find out anything about her whereabouts." He said.
"Will do."
