(That same night...)

"Stupid and useless!" the boss shouted, hitting and throwing his only subordinate (the scientist) to the ground, "What excuse can you tell me about the defeat of the Hybrids? "You have 20 seconds before I kill you."

"No!" he said in his defense, "Sir... the Y project... is ready..."

The boss seemed to calm down a little.

"Show me," he said finally.

The scientist immediately stood up and led his boss to a large biological tank, inside which floated a large winged creature.

"He can open a large dimensional portal that transports him back to the human world," explained the scientist, "And he can absorb vital energy from humans."

"And the controller?" the boss asked.

The scientist gave a technological helmet to his boss.

"If you put this on, you will be able to mentally control it," he explained, "Are you pleased, sir?"

Although the boss seemed pleased, a voice inside him whispered: "Punish him…"

"Okay," he said as he put on his helmet and a dark aura erupted from it, scaring the scientist, "But I still need proof of energy absorption…"

The scientist watched in horror as his boss's eyes turned red with evil.

(In the morning of the next day...)

Through a barely alive field, three figures were moving at high speed, bringing with them injured Pokémon. After running for a while, they crossed small mountains, jumping between them with grace and speed.

"Did we lose them?" asked one. This one had the appearance of a blue mountain goat, clad in steel with a white chest, and its horns somewhat resembled a pair of yellow lightning bolts.

"Yes, it seems so," replied the second. This one had the appearance of a gazelle with coiled green horns and some kind of pink vines around the body, "Besides, the Broken Mountain will throw them off."

"Ha, if they follow us, I'm going to crush them all," declared the last one, which had features of an ox or a ram, with a thick layer of stone.

"Do you think Keldeo has obeyed orders and is taking care of Paradise?" asked the first one, which was Cobalion.

"Our young partner is quite impulsive, but he knows that the wounded need protection," Terrakion replied.

"I completely agree," added Virizon, "He has learned a lot these last few days."

"By the way, I have heard a rumor from those invaders," Cobalion told them, "It seems that their most powerful weapons, those... abominations that they combined with Pokemon powers have been defeated."

"Oh really? by whom?"

"A species of powerful Pokemon"

"Attention" Terrakion warned them, "Paradise in sight"

There it was: behind the hills, a small village surrounded by green fields with flowers. After these fields, a small oak wall surrounded a village where several humbly built bungalow-like houses and wigwams gathered around a plaza. Several Pokemon were arriving at the village, being attended to by a few Audino and Chansey.

"They have arrived!" shouted a voice from the air. Apparently, it was a Swellow, "The legendary Sword-Pokemon are back!"

There was Watchdog and Stoutland at the entrance, as security. Fortunately, the three Sword-Pokemon were allowed to pass and they entered with the injured Pokémon: they were a little Oddish, a Marill, a Pichu and others. A Swanna and a Leavanny came to serve them.

"Thank you very much Cobalion, Virizon and Terrakion," the Swanna told them, "We will take them to the other refugees."

"Guys!" Keldeo shouted, trotting up from the crowd, "How did it go? How are the battlefields?"

"We have managed to repel their forces despite certain casualties," replied Cobalion, "The three legendary dogs have also managed to take the refugees to Lively Town and Serene Village"

"How have they managed to win? I thought those white Pokemon were so powerful that we had to run away several times.

"They have been defeated it seems," Terrakion replied, "Someone or something was keeping them busy."

"Alert! Alert!" the Swellow shouted above his heads. The four Sword-Pokemon (including Keldeo) looked in the direction from which he had arrived as screams began to spread.

The entire group headed to the entrance and saw an army of Pokémon controlled (with Dark Rings) was approaching: there were at least twenty Sableye, a dozen Liepards, a dozen Mightyenas and three large Golurks.

"There are several enemies," said Virizon.

"But we cannot let them advance," commented Cobalion, "We must protect Paradise"

"Watch out!" Keldeo shouted, pointing ahead.

The 3 Golurks launched like rockets towards the group at the door. The four Sword-Pokemon (including Keldeo) were about to enter the battle, but...

"Multi Water Shuriken!"

"Whirlwind!"

The combination of attacks knocked down the Golurks, and then an Unfezant and a Greninja appeared. Keldeo and Virizon recognized the pair.

"Luke! "Dylan!" Keldeo shouted.

"Hello friends," Luke greeted, "We haven't seen each other in a while."

While they were talking, six of the Liepards ran with their claws extended to attack the newcomers, but a Lightning Bolt paralyzed them halfway. The other Liepards attacked as well.

"Petal Dance!"

A whirlwind of rose petals covered the air and stopped the Liepards. Immediately afterwards, a Hyper Beam ended up defeating and freeing them. Behind these attacks, a Luxray, a Nidoqueen and a Meganium appeared.

"Zack, Mina and Rose!" Virizon exclaimed.

"Master Virizon, how nice to see you again," Rose greeted her.

Finally, the Mightyenas also launched an attack. However...

"Dragon Rage!"

"Fire spin!"

Both of these improvised attacks hurt the Mightyenas a bit, but for the most part they managed to touch and break the Dark rings controlling them. The next second, two Charizard appeared in front of them.

"Slash!" Rex attacked, destroying the Golurk's Dark rings before they could fully rise.

"Rex! Katie!" exclaimed his other friends.

"Amazing!" exclaimed Keldeo, "The chosen kids have returned!"

This exclamation was joined by several shouts of happiness belonging to the other Pokémon of Paradise. It seemed as if the wounds were magically healed by just the presence of the chosen kids.

The chosen children helped move the Pokemon freed from mind control; Apparently, they had suffered minor damage (the kids had become stronger in their previous forms as well and had to 'reduce' their attacks a bit). When they were safe, they met up with the rest of their friends. However, in the middle of the celebration, an Audino came screaming.

"Lord Cobalion!" she said, "Lord Cobalion! The patient is getting worse!"

Hearing that, Cobalion and Terrakion looked at each other and followed the Audino.

"Who is that patient?" Rose asked Virizon.

"Mew" she responded.

Upon hearing that, the chosen kids did not hesitate to follow Cobalion and Terrakion to a small hut in the center of the village. There, resting on a bed with a cloth over his head and with a high temperature, Mew was asleep. Next to him were Cobalion Terrakion and Audino.

"Mew…" Rose mentioned, remembering what Xerneas had told them, "He's really sick…"

"How long has it been like this?" Rex asked Audino.

"Weeks," she replied, "And he seems sicker and sicker. We have tried everything, but nothing seems to help him."

Everyone was worried. However, Dylan looked at his medallion again and remembered something important.

"I have an idea," he said, "If we have been able to restore health to many places with the glow of the medallion and keys... can we try it with a Pokemon, even a legendary?"

The rest looked at their medallion again, wondering if they would be able to do such a thing. It might be risky, but it was better to try.

"Okay, let's do it," Rex said, holding his medallion over Mew. The others did the same. For a moment, everyone thought nothing had happened, but then all the amulets glowed slightly, spilling light onto Mew, who seemed to writhe in his dreams. However, when the glow reached him, it seemed to soothe his dreams. Finally, he gave a loud yawn and slowly opened his eyes.

"Mew!" the kids exclaimed.

"Thank you, our chosen children," Mew told them, levitating again. "I will be eternally grateful."

"Well, now that you're better Mew, we can focus on our final enemy before he continues creating Hybrid abominations and controlling good Pokemon" Rex declared, "Let's go then find the invaders' lair."

"Quite bravery on the part of the son of the leader of the Charizard clan"

"Son of a leader...? asked everyone else except Katie (they didn't know that revelation because they were each searching for it).

"Well…" Rex commented, "It's a long story…"

And he proceeded to tell them what happened. When he finished, Mew told them:

"Chosen children, you agree then that each one found your own fruit of life," he said, "These values are linked to life itself and, as fruits, can give life to future generations. It is a highly positive power, which can combat death."

The kids nodded, now they felt much better than ever.

"I must make a revelation to you guys," Mew continued, "Have you never wondered why, compared to previous chosen ones, you can evolve and return to your previous forms?"

They all looked at each other, realizing that they had never asked themselves that question.

"This answer starts with you, Rex…"

"What do you mean Mew?" he asked.

"Don't you think it's too much of a coincidence that Arceus and the others chose you? Don't you know that you have a shine that doesn't disappear easily?

"What do you mean, Mew?" Rose asked, "I thought we had a pure heart."

"The purest among humans without a doubt. But that purity disappears over the years, believing that gains are more than just pretty words. However, that does not apply to you, who maintain it even in the darkest hour. To explain it better, it all starts with what you humans knew as 'the red comet phenomenon', does anyone know what it is?"

"Well, I never saw it exactly, because I was only around 1 year old…" Dylan responded, "But my parents told me that that happened in the city where we lived."

"Me too," Rose added, "I lived there too. "They said it was a strange phenomenon of lights that came from a shooting star or something and it was rumored that it fell in the surrounding area."

"Yes, they told me that too," Zack commented.

Likewise, Luke, Mina and Katie also remembered hearing about it. Unfortunately, Rex didn't know that story until he heard them talking about it.

"Did you see? You 6 lived in the same place before and you know that phenomenon..."

"Wait a minute," Rex said, "Why I don't know about that event?"

"Because, Rex, you were part of that phenomenon... directly"

Then, Rex seemed to understand. Because of that, Mew continued:

"When your egg was transported from the Pokémon world to the human's one, a storm of wind and thunder occurred, while a flash that any human would have mistaken for a comet appeared in your sky... it was you Rex... but also, the light it irradiated 6 small children who, due to fate, lived there and if one thing is known... it is that nothing is purer and more innocent than the heart of a child."

Rex was shocked with amazement and the others were speechless: was it for this reason that everyone felt a small sense of nostalgia when they arrived the first time?

"But what does it have to do with us being able to evolve and come back?" Dylan asked.

"My adoptive mother told me that she had seen me turn from Charmander into a human baby," Rex deduced, still frozen in place, "Maybe…"

"Yes, when you arrived a dimensional change reached your then small body," Mew announced, "And you transmitted it through that light to others: that is the reason that all of you can change... but the catalyst that achieves it is your human values: courage, trust, friendship, purity, wisdom, love and sincerity"

"And the Pokephones?" Zack asked.

"Those devices only facilitate the change as the medallions that you have, now do you understand why they never lost their light and it is more than a coincidence that they are all here? Each of you are linked by more than a simple message from a game: thanks to the arrival of Rex to your world, fate brought you all together.

The chosen kids took a while to assimilate that idea. Until Dylan, putting a hand on Rex's shoulder, mentioned with a laugh:

"Now I know why you were able to reunite us after a year. You are a box of surprises"

Everyone laughed at the moment. It was good to do it before an assault plan on the final boss's fortress. However, the moment was ruined when a huge earthquake began and thunder could be heard outside.

When they came out, they looked at the sky: it was getting darker and darker and the clouds were beginning to become charged with electricity, announcing a storm.

"Look!" Luke shouted, pointing to the horizon.

It was probably miles away, but a beam of dark energy rose into the sky, causing that strange phenomenon. In the part where this beam ended, the sky opened like a tunnel and the part where it began was...

"The Dark Island!" exclaimed Rex, "That bastard... what is he planning?"

"You must stop him!" Mew shouted and everyone turned to listen to him, "He's using that energy to pierce the barrier of dimensions and reach the human barrier. But if he keeps doing that… both worlds will collide and destroy each other!"

Upon hearing that, everyone was stunned by the fatal fate that would occur and prepared to run to that place. Fortunately, Swanna and Levanmy had some supplies ready for them.

"Chosen children," Mew told them before they left, "You are the only hope of this world and the human's world... please, win."

"We will do it Mew, don't worry," Rex replied.

Faced with a new wave of energy in the sky, the chosen kids did not waste time and ran to the scene of the events.
