Part XIII: A Professor's Intrigue

Misty smiled as consciousness final returned to her. She was warm, cozy, and safe. She knew why, she was in Ash's bed in his house in Pallet Town and she was in Ash's arms as he spooned her, snoring lightly behind her. For whatever reason Piplup had either forgiven her or was just lulling her into a false sense of security as he hadn't woken up, not that she minded as it allowed Misty to wake up naturally for a change.

Misty just lay there for a moment, enjoying the feel of being in her love's arms, holding her as he slept. Of course there was something else she could feel, she felt it every morning, and it made her face warm but at the same time she was used to it. It was a compliment of sorts. Besides, she was with Ash and couldn't be happier.

Alas nature was calling her name and with a grumble, Misty extracted herself from Ash's arms and slowly got out of bed. Ash didn't move and just kept sleeping peacefully. Looking at him, Misty decided to let him sleep some more. He looked too comfortable to disturb and it would allow her to get ready in her own time while giving Ash one of his favorite things, more sleep.

Misty headed to the bathroom to relieve herself, bringing her bag so that she could get ready when she was done. It took a while; it often did as her hair tended to refuse to cooperate with her and she didn't have Piplup to help at the moment as he was also still asleep.

After about half an hour she was ready and dressed for the day. Leaving the bathroom, Misty sighed, Ash was still asleep. He had moved and was now sprawled on his back with the sheets half off and his mouth open as he slept. It wasn't his most attractive look but it was typical Ash. Pikachu and Piplup were both asleep as well, both having crashed on the floor. Misty decided to let them all sleep as she took in Ash's room for the first time.

It was clearly the room of a Pokémon trainer. It had everything from stuff that clearly predated his time as a trainer that Misty found cute to his many accomplishments as a trainer. Trophies were on one shelf, proudly displayed showing the various competitions that Ash had won over the years. There were also the plaques from all his league appearances, the Unova one not up yet, and arrayed in order of his journey. Under each plaque was a framed case with his badges from those regions.

The last thing Misty noted was that each also served as a memory wall for Ash. There was a picture above each plaque showing Ash with his traveling companions in the various leagues. Misty noticed with a hint of jealousy how close Dawn was to Ash in the Kanto, Johto and what she presumed was the Orange Islands pictures. She was not as close in her own appearance in the Sinnoh picture and regretted it. They would have to rectify that.

Brock was in the 4 regional pictures but not the Orange Islands one and Misty knew he wouldn't be in the Unova one either. The Hoenn had May and her brother Max that Misty smiled at, at least May didn't look like she was creeping in on Misty's turf in her picture.

Misty wanted to continue looking at the room but her stomach growled and she decided to go and see if she could help with breakfast. She would need it regardless as Ash would demolish everything he saw as soon as he woke. They were going to Professor Oak's lab today and seeing his Pokémon, Misty had a feeling she would need her strength as Ash would likely exhaust her with his enthusiasm. It wasn't a bad thing, she just had to be ready for it.

Heading downstairs, Misty smelt the smell of cooking and smiled. It seemed that Delia Ketchum was an early riser and already making breakfast for them. Mimey was in the living room, his green apron on again, cleaning when Misty reached the foot of the stairs.

"Mr. Mime." The Barrier Pokémon called out with a smile before returning to his sweeping.

"Hi Mimey." Misty said to the odd Pokémon as Delia poked her head out of the kitchen at the sound of voices.

"Oh, hey Misty, I didn't know you were up." Delia said as Misty came in to join her noting that the smell was of pancakes. "I was just preparing breakfast as Ash is usually up around now and given his appetite it is best to be prepared."

"Well he is still asleep last I checked." Misty said a little nervously given that they had shared a bed. "Can I help?"

"No need dear." Delia said smiling. "Take a seat and have the first batch, we both know that Ash will have the rest."

"That he will." Misty admitted as she took a seat still feeling nervous at being alone with her boyfriend's mom for the first time.

"Slept well did you?" Delia asked as she put a plate of pancakes with butter and syrup out for Misty before joining her with a cup of tea.

"Yeah we were out like a light." Misty admitted as she tucked into the pancakes, they were as good as the smelt and helped her nerves at talking about sharing a bed with Ash's mother. "It was a long day to get here and we were exhausted. As soon as we got into bed we were out."

"I thought so, it was a little quiet last night." Delia said and Misty coughed and spluttered a little. "Long days will do that, you will have to be careful in the future not to over exert yourselves."

"Sorry." Misty said trying to recover. "Wrong pipe."

"No need." Delia said knowing that it was a cover. "It was a good sign. I told your mother when I called her this morning."

"You spoke with her?" Misty said and her embarrassment grew. "About, you know, not hearing anything?"

"I had to let her know you got here and tell her I knew about you two being an item." Delia said happily. "She is back in Twinleaf Town now and was happy to hear you two made it here safe. She did tell me that you two had the talk and that you are prepared for when it happens."

Misty went bright red and looked at her food so that she didn't meet Delia's eye as she nodded. Of course her mother would tell Delia about that, she just had to embarrass Misty even more. She was getting some odd joy out of this, Misty was certain of it.

"Don't worry, I had the talk with Ash a while back and that was tough." Delia continued. "And I will be doing so again soon now that he actually has a reason to listen to it. Your mom told me to talk to you about it just to keep you on your toes. I completely understand and support her decision."

"I can tell." Misty managed to get out.

"There is no need to be embarrassed Misty, it is only natural given your age and feelings." Delia said. "Just make sure it is special when it happens and that you are safe. While I want grandkids one day I wasn't joking last night, I am too young for them and so are you two for kids."

"I know." Misty said still blushing and mortified. "Can, can we please change the topic."

"Of course, dear." Delia said smiling over tea. "Though your mom wanted to ask if you are taking it as instructed."

Misty felt her head hit the table. This was not the ideal conversation she wanted to have be her first one on one with her boyfriend's mother. She shuddered to think what her own mother would say to Ash one on one when they next saw Johanna.

"I take that as a yes." Delia said and Misty just nodded from her place at the table. "Good. Now, on a separate and less uncomfortable note, I do need your help with something."

"You do?" Misty asked rising and interested, glad the awkward talk was over. "What is it?"

"Yes, and I can't have Ash knowing just yet." Delia said which really peaked Misty's curiosity.

"If it is for Ash I will do what I can." Misty said with a nod. "How can I help?"

"Well it is Ash's birthday in a week's time and I want to do something special for him." Delia said surprising Misty. "Usually he isn't here for it so this is a big deal. Also, this is the first time he has brought a girl home he is dating so it is even more special as you will be here for it."

"I didn't know his birthday was coming up." Misty admitted though Ash never really spoke of it. "He's never mentioned when it is."

"He has a habit of forgetting it in the excitement of his travels." Delia said shaking her head slightly. "After he got Pikachu on his 10th birthday he has not really acknowledged it since. However, this time he is in town for it and I have a plan that I may need your help with. Are you in?"

"For Ash's birthday, count me in." Misty said with a smile. "I will do whatever I can."

"Great but this has to be a secret." Delia said and Misty nodded in agreement. "I want it to be a surprise."

What it was Misty would have to wait to find out as at that very moment Ash decided to wake up, or more accurately it was determined that he should be woken up. They knew this by the yelp from upstairs and the crackle of electricity. A few moments later, Ash in just a t-shirt and boxers walked into the kitchen his hair standing on end and smoking slightly, a very happy and pleased with himself Pikachu on his shoulder who was trying and failing to look innocent.

"Pancakes!" Ash said seeing the stack on the table and forgetting his annoyance. "You're the greatest mom."

"As you should…" Delia began but was cut off when Ash dove into the stack of pancakes with gusto. "Never mind."

Misty just watched as Ash went through the pancakes in record time. He washed them down with a few glasses of juice before sighing in contentment. His first course done, Ash grabbed more but at least this time he slowed down and ate at his normal speed.

"Man, I needed that after a wake up from Pikachu." Ash said in relief before noticing his girlfriend at the table. "Oh, that's where you went Misty, I was wondering where you were."

"Clearly pancakes are more important than finding your girlfriend." Misty chided playfully causing Ash to squirm a little.

"I was a little spacey from the sleep and the electricity." Ash said sheepishly. "Sorry."

"Misty and I were having a charming conversation before you arrived." Delia said and Ash looked at them confused as Ash finished his second helping.

"Huh, ok." Ash said with a shrug, he expected that if the pair had been down before him. "Well Misty, shall we go see the Professor? He should be up by now."

"Not yet mister." Delia said sternly. "You need to shower, brush your teeth and get change your underwear first. Then you can go see Professor Oak."

"Huh?" Ash asked before looking down and realizing he was still in his sleeping clothes while the others were all dressed. "Oh yeah, I probably should. Alright I will be down in 5, then we can go."

Ash turned and raced upstairs, causing a bemused and sleepy Piplup to spin around and fall over as he ran past the still half-asleep penguin Pokémon who was the last to join them. Misty went over and picked up her startled starter and carried him to the table so that he and Pikachu could have breakfast.

"Well we have a few minutes while Ash gets ready." Delia said turning to Misty. "This is what I had planned…"

Misty listened and smiled at what Delia had in mind. It was something really special and she would do all that she could to help her out. Misty was sure that it would work, after all this was Ash they were talking about, who could say no when Ash Ketchum was involved.

By the time Ash came down dressed and ready Misty had agreed to help when she could and thanked Delia for breakfast before practically being dragged out by Ash. Piplup and Pikachu had to run after them as Ash had forgotten them in his hurry, both plotting revenge for it.

"So much restless energy." Delia said with a smile as she began to clean up. "He never changes and hopeful never will. I just hope we can keep him around for a week."

-break-

"So, what did mom talk to you about?" Ash asked as they walked hand in hand to Professor Oak's lab. "Hopefully nothing too embarrassing."

"Oh she was just making sure that we were safe." Misty said, she had managed to slow Ash down enough to wait for Piplup and Pikachu but now he was hurrying to get to the lab. "You know, in that sense."

"Oh." Ash said going a little red. "That is a little embarrassing. Sorry you had to deal with that alone. Mom had the Spearows and Beedrills talk with me a while back but I didn't expect her to try it with you, especially not right away."

"It's ok, I've had the talk with my mom before as well." Misty said reassuringly. "Though she called it the Starlies and Combees. It was much worse when my mom did it so this wasn't bad at all."

"Must be regional." Ash mused at the different term. "I guess whatever bird and bug Pokémon are common to that region work best."

"Probably." Misty agreed. "But I reassured her so no need to worry."

"You know that's when I worry the most." Ash said with a smirk and Misty playfully slapped his chest for it.

"Not you too." Misty muttered as they began to climb up to lab atop the hill, that explained what the building here was. "First mom and now you, when will you learn to not worry."

"Sorry, couldn't resist." Ash admitted playfully as they reached the door and Ash rang the doorbell. "Now let's see the Professor and tell him what occurred in Cerulean."

They waited for a moment before the door opened. Standing there was an old man in his early 50s with gray hair, a red polo shirt, brown pants and a while lab coat. Ash and Misty smiled at Professor Oak, the world's foremost authority on Human/Pokémon relations and Ash's mentor.

"Ash my boy I heard you got in last night and was expecting you at some point today." Professor Oak said with a smile as he opened the door wide and let them in. "And Misty too, so good to see you again."

"Hello Professor." Ash said as they walked in. "Yeah I would have come yesterday but we got in too late."

"The poetry man." Misty said with a smile, her usual greeting for Professor Oak. "Nice to see you again and in your own lab this time, it is an honor."

"I understand the delay." Professor Oak said with a nod before adding. "And you and Misty probably needed a little alone time when you got home."

"You know?" Ash asked and Misty felt like facepalming, they were holding hands for Arceus's sake, it was very obvious. "Why does everyone suddenly know?"

"Other than what I can see." The Professor said pointing to their hands. "Delia told me last night. She is very happy for you two."

"Oh yeah should have seen that coming." Ash said in defeat. "Well Misty and I came by to see my Pokémon and to tell you…"

Ash was cut off by a loud, happy, cry of "Muk!" and suddenly Misty felt her boyfriend's hand ripped from hers. She turned to see the Sludge Pokémon that Ash had caught during his first adventure several years ago smothering its trainer, grinning happily as it embraced Ash.

"I know, I know I'm home Muk." Ash said from under the large ball of sludge. "I'm happy to see you too. It's been too long, I agree."

"I see Muk hasn't changed since I saw him that one time in Sinnoh when he visited." Misty said with a smile at the way Ash's Pokémon showed their affection for him, it showed to her just how good he was with Pokémon. "It still loves Ash and must miss him."

"Muk is very affectionate and loves all people." Professor Oak said with a chuckle. "I am often having to pry him off me while I work. He is a bit of a handful with guests but they always compliment him as he is a fine Muk and that is all thanks to Ash."

"Yeah and it is not just people he knows but people he just meets." Ash called out from his affectionate Pokémon. "Remember, he did this with Professor Birch when he was here and even once to Jessie when I faced her with Muk a few years back."

"Muk hugged jessie?" Misty asked surprised, that was a sight she would have paid to seen. "Clearly he doesn't care what a person is on a personal level."

"Nope, just so long as they are there he will hug them." Professor Oak said. "It's actually fascinating, Muk's affections have been one of my many papers on the subject of human/Pokémon affection. I don't know many like him."

"Muk I have to get up." Ash pleaded. "Misty and I have come here to talk to Professor Oak. Then we can all go outside and see the team together; how does that sound?"

"Muk!" Muk said happily before looking up and seeing Misty there. "Muk?"

"That's Misty Muk." Ash said from his position as he looked to see where Muk was looking. "You met her once in Sinnoh when you visited me there. She's my girlfriend now so she's here with me while we take a break before our next adventure."

"Muk!" Muk yelled in joy as he launched off Ash and right at Misty.

All Misty could do was yell in surprise as her eyes went wide before she was hit by about 70 pounds of happy purple sludge with a face and floored by it. Piplup yelped as he was thrown from her head and rolled away while Muk happily hugged Misty on the floor.

It was an experience Misty never expected and didn't want to repeat as the affectionate Pokémon embraced her. disgusting did not even begin to describe the feeling of the smelly Sludge Pokémon smothering her.

"Muk return." Oak said and he returned the Pokémon to its Poke Ball. "I will let you out when they go outside and you can have your fun then."

Misty was laying on the floor twitching a little from the experience, a grimace on her face as she slowly recovered. Ash, Pikachu and Piplup all looked down on her. There was a moment of silence before Piplup started to chuckle, covering his beak with his flippers before he burst out laughing. Ash knew better than to do so.

"What's so funny?" Misty growled as she sat up and glared at Piplup who was now rolling on his back with laughter.

"Er, I think Muk messed something up." Ash said as delicately as possible while Piplup continued to laugh. "He was a little too enthusiastic to meet a new person it seems."

Instantly Misty's hands went to her hair knowing that that was what Ash was refereeing to. As soon as she touched it, Misty knew that it didn't feel right. Reaching behind her she brought out her trusty hand mirror and looked at her hair.

"ASH KETCHUM!" Misty yelled in horror at the sight that greeted her. "You are going to pay for this!"

"It was Muk not me." Ash tried to deny knowing that it was a losing battle. "Blame him."

Misty ignored her boyfriend. Her hair, her pride and joy and what she had spent so long making look nice that morning was now a mess. It wasn't the standing on end or frizzy look caused by electricity or the burn look that was caused by fire. No, this time it was matted and plastered in uneven clumps. Worst of all was that she could smell traces of Muk on it.

She was going to need some serious work on it and a good wash when they got back to Ash's home. At least Piplup was here to help her out.

"Piplup of you please." Misty asked her finally recovered starter as she removed her hat and clips. "Bubble Beam."

Piplup looked at her for a moment still snickering before shaking his head and turning away from her. He was still pissed at her for the Gyarados incident, she could suffer this indignance much the way he had suffered one. It would teach her a lesson.

"I see that you are still pissed at me." Misty grumbled as she pulled out a brush and went to work to try and salvage her hair, ignoring the pain of brushing out the clumps. "I told you I'm sorry, I told you I didn't expect her to use it, what more do you want? This had better be the last punishment, I think we are even now."

"What is Misty talking about?" Professor Oak asked Ash while Misty worked.

"Oh, that is actually tied to what we wanted to talk to you about." Ash said turning back to his mentor. "Before Muk interrupted us."

"What were you going to say?" Professor Oak asked curiously as Misty finished and stood up, walking them through to his lab while Misty glared at a still pleased Piplup. "You have peaked my interest with this."

"Something odd happened while we were in Cerulean City on our way to Pallet Town." Ash began. "Something none of us expected."

"I see and I take it that this has to do with Dawn." Professor Oak said. "More particularly after she met and learned about Misty. That would likely be the point when Pokémon got involved."

"Did everyone but me know?" Ash asked exacerbated.

"About Dawn being in love with you, yeah pretty much." A familiar voice said and Ash turned to see Tracy walk in. "Yeah, we all knew."

Misty was just about done salvaging her hair and looked up at the new arrival to see a man in his early 20s in a teal shirt and headband wearing a lab coat enter the lab. She recognized him from a picture in Ash's room of him with Ash and Dawn on the back of a Lapras meaning that he must be Tracy, the companion that Ash had in the Orange Islands when Brock wasn't with him.

"Gah." Ash just grumbled hanging his head.

"It's for the best." Misty said rubbing his back and kissing his check, an act she regretted as there was Muk sludge there and spitting a bit at the foul taste. "Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten you."

Ash smiled at that. Misty was right. His denseness around Dawn had meant that when he was older and able to see things better he had realized that Misty was the one for him. Sure he would always wonder what if he and Dawn had become an item but he loved Misty and was glad he had landed her.

"Well it worked out for you in the end, even if it didn't for Dawn." Tracy said extending a hand to Misty. "I take it that you are Misty then."

"I am and you must be Tracy." Misty said shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you."

"Likewise." Tracy said with a smile. "So, you ran into Dawn in Cerulean City and showed up as Ash's girlfriend. I can't imagine that going over well with her."

"You don't know the half of it." Misty admitted. "But the full details of our incident aren't as important as the one in particular that we wanted to ask Professor Oak about. It is a mystery to us what happened and we were hoping that he could shed some light on it."

"Why me?" Oak asked though Ash could hear the sound of intrigue in the man's voice, he was a scientist to the core and the idea of a mystery was too tempting to pass up. "Is it about Pokémon?"

"It is." Ash said with a nod. "Tell them Misty."

"I was getting to it dear." Misty said reproachfully. "Anyway, as you rightfully predicted, Dawn and I didn't exactly get off on the right foot. One thing led to an another and we ended up having a battle to settle our differences."

"Differences?" Tracy asked a little confused.

"She didn't like that I was Ash's girlfriend." Misty said. "And I didn't like her admitting she still liked Ash in front of me. I had to assert my dominance over her and that was the only way I could think to do it."

"I see." Tracy said rubbing his chin. "Dawn is pretty well known for her temper and her lack of control over it."

"I take it that this battle is why Piplup is not in a happy mood with you." Professor Oak said as he looked at the proud Penguin Pokémon who was not looking at Misty while she spoke. "He doesn't seem to like the memory of it."

"He will be fine; he just got his pride wounded because of me so I have to pay for it." Misty said with a sigh. "He did take a Hyper Beam from a Gyarados for me so I can understand that."

"What!" Tracy gasped. "Why would Dawn do that? Poor Piplup. No wonder he's upset at you."

"Piplup." Piplup agreed with a nod, this human got it.

"I, er, may have really gotten to her." Misty admitted. "That was before the incident and at least I didn't know about her Togetic or else it would have been much worse."

"I see, do you have a Togetic?" Tracy asked. "That would have infuriated Dawn if you had used one to taunt her."

"No, a Togekiss." Misty said causing both scientists to look at her in amazement. "She was a gift from a friend I helped out towards the end of our time in Sinnoh and she is why we are confused. I used her as she was my best bet against Gyarados, I had no idea about Dawn's past and that cluelessness helped avoid further rage."

"Go on." Professor Oak said moving the conversation back to the topic at hand. "So, you used Togekiss against Dawn's Gyarados, a pretty even matchup as neither really has an advantage and both are powerful Pokémon in their own right."

"Well you see, Togekiss did have an advantage that she shouldn't have had." Misty said. "During the battle Gyarados got off a Dragon Pulse attack that hit her clean in the back. Then she flew away as if nothing had happened. No damage, no pain, nothing. She was completely unaffected by that attack. None of us knew what had happened. The battle should have ended then but it didn't. It shifted the momentum to me and allowed me to win."

"What!" This time it was Professor Oak's turn to gasp in shock. "That shouldn't be possible. There is no Pokémon type that can shrug off a dragon type attack without any damage. Not even ice types, the only type with an advantage over dragon types other than dragon types themselves, can shrug it off without at least some damage albeit minimal depending on the Pokémon."

"That is what we thought." Ash said. "But Togekiss was fine. It threw Dawn off her game and likely was the catalyst to her defeat."

"It would throw anyone off." Professor Oak said deep in thought. "And this is the first time it has happened? Togekiss hasn't faced a dragon attack before?"

"As far as I know no." Misty said and Ash shook his head in agreement. "And I doubt Princess Salvia, the person who gave me Togekiss, ever faced one either. She may have and we can ask her but I know from personal experience just how busy her schedule is so it might be a while before we get a response."

"Piplup." Piplup yelled, he had been listening and they were talking about his protector, he wanted to point out that they were wrong. "Pip, Piplup."

"What is it Piplup?" Misty asked confused.

"Pip, Piplup, pip." Piplup said waving his arms and running around in circles looking to the sky in fear. "Piplup, pip."

Misty was confused at the actions of her Pokémon. Ash on the other hand got exactly what Piplup was trying to tell him. It was the same way Piplup used to act back when Gible's Draco Meteor failed and then always hit Piplup. He remembered that it would always hit Piplup for some reason. Well almost always because one time…

"No Piplup's right." Ash said gasping at the memory and causing them all to look at him. "That wasn't the first time Togekiss faced a dragon type attack and nothing happened. I just hadn't put two and two together until Piplup reminded me."

"Piplup." Piplup nodded, apparently Misty's choice in mate understood him, she had chosen well. "Pip, Piplup."

"What are you talking about Ash?" Misty asked confused. "Cerulean City was the first time Piplup faced a dragon type move."

"No it wasn't, remember the first day you had Togekiss." Ash said shaking his head. "And I was training with Gible while you and Togekiss trained. His Draco Meteor always failed back then and it always hit Piplup for Arceus knows why, except that time. It failed again and as it was chasing a fleeing Piplup, Togekiss flew down and batted away the attack with her wing, sending it right back at Gible."

"Yeah I remember that." Misty said remembering how Togekiss had protected Piplup and then scolded Gible. "What does it…wait Draco Meteor is a dragon type move isn't it?"

"That it is." Professor Oak said with a nod. "And a normal/flying type like Togekiss shouldn't be able to bat it away with a wing. Did Togekiss use an attack?"

"Not that I remember." Misty said thinking back to the incident. "I was trying to see how she fought because I hadn't raised her or trained her so I needed to understand her a little better. Ash was doing his own thing with Gible by that point but when Draco Meteor fails she just swooped in and saved Piplup."

"Piplup." Piplup said with a nod, at least Togekiss had saved him when that awful attack failed, no one else had.

"That is fascinating." Professor Oak said rubbing his chin deep in thought. "I've never heard of this before. Both the defense of dragon type moves or a move failing and always hitting a particular Pokémon. It's all intriguing."

"What could it be?" Ash asked. "Because we have no idea."

"I haven't the foggiest clue." Professor Oak admitted with a smile. "But I want to find out if I can. Misty, would you be willing to let me study Togekiss here at least while you are around. I think with her and Ash's Gible, his only dragon type Pokémon, I can find out more."

"So long as Togekiss doesn't mind." Misty said enlarging her flying type's Poke Ball. "You can ask her yourself. Togekiss, come on out."

"Toge." Togekiss sang as she sprang out of her ball and stood in the lab as she couldn't fly, looking around in wonder at the new place she was in. "Toge?"

"Togekiss." Misty said to the Jubilee Pokémon. "This is Professor Oak, the poetry master. He wants to understand how you weren't affected by Gyarados's Dragon Pulse attack. Can he work with you while we are here to find out?"

"Kiss?" Togekiss asked confused, cocking her head at Misty.

"Allow me." Professor Oak said as he walked up to the Pokémon and opened his heart to her. "Togekiss, what you did against Dawn's Gyarados was incredible and unheard of. It would be an honor to work with you to find out why this is the case and see if other Pokémon have the same defense. What do you say? Can I work with you to find an answer?"

"Toge?" Togekiss asked looking at the old man and feeling that his intentions were pure and that Misty trusted him and nodded. "Toge."

"Excellent!" Professor Oak said with a smile. "This will only be while Misty is here unless she wants to register my lab for her Pokémon while she travels with Ash and decides to leave you here for a bit."

"Oh yeah my Pokémon." Ash said remembering the main reason why he was here. "Come on Misty, let's go see them."

"I will think on it Professor." Misty said before Ash grabbed her hand and ran off to the ranch out back, Pikachu and Piplup following in their wake and leaving a confused Oak, Tracy and Togekiss behind. "Thank you."

"We'll be back in a bit." Ash called out as they left.

"Ash will never change." Tracy said as he pulled out a sketch pad and began to sketch the beautiful Pokémon in front of him.

"No, he won't and I feel like this calls for a poem." Professor Oak said. "Ash runs off again, to answer the big question, ask a Togekiss."

Professor Oak and Tracy chuckled as he turned to the Jubilee Pokémon. He had a feeling that what he had just heard about would lead to a monumental discovery, he just wasn't sure what it was. He was certain of one thing; he was going to find out why Togekiss was able to shrug off dragon type attack. The results could change the how they thought about Pokémon. Professor Oak just didn't know how much it would change.
