Miss Queen B: Hello all you Wonderful Readers and 2023! I hope everyone's New Year is going well so far. I've kept my New Years' resolution small, trying to eat a little healthier by knocking out sugary drinks (sodas, juice and Starbucks) and to be a little more social to ease my S.A.D. So far, it's been good, I'm drinking more water and make it a goal to say hi to random people when I shop. Wish me luck. Anyway Notes:

Note One: So I've been writing this story off and on for a while now. Call it my side project whenever I'm suffering writer's block on my other stories and finally got the first part done. This is a Three-part Story staring Na Kika since I haven't written anything about her in a while and her loyalty with Gojira's family through three generations. From her loving relationship with Dagon, to her motherly friendship with Gojira and ending with her forming a bond with the young Prince Azure. Since I can't drink sugary stuff, I might as well write something super sweet it will rot our teeth, lol.

Note Two: I'm so sorry for the long wait, I'm not going to lie, the Holidays burn me out and whatever free time I had, I was spending it with my kids and the Nintendo Switch I got them for Christmas. They love the games and it really brought back memories when I played them growing up. It's so weird, playing the first "Super Smash Brothers" on the Nintendo 64 only to relive it again with my Little Ones on the Switch. The feeling, damn, is so hard to describe.

Note Three: There's a lot of reference of my other story "Tsunami" and "Deep Blue Sea" in this story, so if you need to refresh your mind, feel free to read them first to get a better picture. Also, this story is connected to my Fellow Writer StanIsYourMan's story "Red Tide" While his version of Na Kika takes place during her younger years, my version of her takes place when she's much older and wiser. There will be lot of hints, mentions and one or two characters showing up from his story so have fun trying to find all those Easter Eggs. I want to thank StanIsYourMan for letting me use some of his story's plots and Characters and Shadowblade217 for tips and ideas as well. You two are the best.

Note Four: About this chapter: While trying to start a new chapter in her life, Na Kika meets a mysterious lizard kaiju with specials abilities. Although, she grew to love him, their friendship is strictly Platonic.

This story is dedicated to:

StanIsYourMan and his co-writer Sharon.

Thank you for all the inspiration and support.

Enjoy.

~Avatar: The Last Airbender

~When Love is real

It will find a way.~

~Avatar: The Last Airbender

It was supposed to be her new beginning. A fresh start after so much drama in her life. It was a hard choice, but a choice she knew will benefit her in the long run. How else would she be able to grow and make changes? She even went as far as migrating to the other side of the world, away from all her friends, acquaintances, and the very few bits of family and even changed her name. Reaching her four hundred year of life, she wasn't a young Octopus kaiju everyone knew as the Jewel of the Sea anymore, but she was still beautiful and full of vibrant colors and bright blue eyes. Which was probably why her best friend was against her leaving to begin with, and she didn't blame her. Despite telling herself over and over it's her new beginning, deep down she was scared out of her mind. She was alone and it wasn't like she was going to explore certain places a mile or two away from her home, she was thousands of miles away with no home or idea how to protect herself or hide if needed. Her Best Friend begged her not to go, whatever issues she was having in her head was no excuse to leave, she didn't know what was out there, there were bigger and more boorish predators out there that would love to take advantage of a delicate little Octopus Kaiju like her.

It didn't occur to her that would happen until she encountered a very interesting stranger swimming near her temporary home.

You live here? The unwanted Lizard Kaiju asked while inspecting her tiny cave. Slightly insulting her for how tiny and shallow it was. In her defense, it was the only decent place she could find around this unknown area for the night. She spent all day swimming around, looking for a new home, and spotted this large seamount a few hours ago. Her plan was to sleep for a day or two before continuing on with her journey when she woke up to something glowing bright from the distance.

Being naturally curious, a flaw her best friend would point out and the main reason for all the trouble she would get into, she glided her way out of her small cave and over to the mysterious stranger. She always had that welcoming appearance, so she didn't put in mind whether the stranger would be hostile or not and sadly, at first, he was. What stunned her was the fact the stranger was a Lizard Kaiju, those rare types of species that can live off both water and land, but she never recalled seeing one alone and glowing. Since when were they able to make their eyes and spikes glow a bright blue color? Anyway, from the looks of it, the Lizard wasn't used to having another kaiju come close because the next thing she knew, he told her to get lost or he'll kill her then his spikes started to glow brighter as if "powering" up to attack. The short interaction ended with her striking him hard right between the legs. She didn't mean to, it was just a natural instinct when it came to self-defense. She wasn't a violent kaiju, some would say she was far too nice for her own good, which was probably why after delivering that low blow, she quickly apologized while backing away to give the Lizard space. She thought her tired night was going to end with one of them dead and the other bloody and bruised, but instead the lizard called her some colorful names while complaining why she would hit him there of all places.

She was always a firm believer when it came to luck and "Everything happens for a reason," because the next thing she knew when she was trying to leave, he decided to follow her, giving her a blue light to see while asking a bunch of questions. Not the normal questions she would constantly get from strangers, mostly males, when she was younger and an Enticing thing to look at. The ones the Lizard were asking were a little insulting in her opinion.

Hey, where're you going?

Do you punch all males like that or am I really special?

I'm talking to you. Do you not understand me?

Are all Stupid Squids rude?

The last one finally made her turn around to face the rather rude lizard. Making him float back from having her so close to his face. I'm not stupid or a squid, thank you very much. Now if you excuse me, I'm going back into my cave.

She turned around to see the Seamount and the dark opening of her cave only to have it blocked by the glowing, blue plates of the Lizard kaiju. She quickly looked behind in disbelief before turning her attention back to the male. She's seen groups of his species swim around, but they were never that fast….

She snapped out of her thoughts from seeing the Lizard trying to crawl into her little cave. Yes, I live here, so can you please leave. I had a rather long day and would like to get some sleep.

And what did you think I was doing before you got in my way? He asked with a little sass in his voice as he tried to settle down uncomfortably in her cave. She had to hold back her laugher from seeing half of his body falling out and his spikes cutting pieces of rock off from the top of the opening. After a few more turnarounds, he gave up and pulled himself out till he was floating right in front of her. As if trying to size her up with his bright scales and equally matching bright blue eyes. The way he floated in front of her brought back memories of her youth. When she came across a mysterious male stranger who had the same intimidating yet fascinating look. She couldn't help, but blush at the bittersweet memory while her large tentacles began to float and coil around them. Her way to make her look scary and big against predators. She cleared her throat and looked down to avoid the glowing, blue stare. My apologies, it's not everyday you see one of your kind in the dark depths. I didn't even know you Lizards glow such a light.

She couldn't help, but peek to see if he was going to make a move to attack or at least say something, but instead, he snorted like he was offended by her observation. You could say I'm a rare Being. He said, while keeping his eyes on every single tentacle floating around them.

Rare? My Dear, I might live in the ocean, but even I know, you Lizard kaijus aren't rare.

The Lizard chuckled, How funny, normally others will run or call me a Monster. They would never float there and insult my intelligence.

That wasn't my purpose. She said, finally looking at him again. In the dark, the bright glow really brought out his features on his face. You just threw me off with the "Rare" part.

His tail swissed in the background, before shooting up and gently blocking one of her tentacles from touching his right shoulder, making her blush even harder. It didn't mean to get that close, her tentacles wound sometimes have a mind of their own when it came to floating in the cool ocean water. You don't respect other kaiju's space, do you Squid?

You're the one very close in my space and again, I'm not a Squid. You're mistaking me for one of those Silly Breeders that have tentacles and long, crab-like legs.

Excuse me, I've been around the ocean for centuries and hardly see your type around.

I'm rare. She said with a smug, sarcastic smile. Which was true in some cases. Her Kind don't travel in groups or socialize with each other except during Mating Season when they begin to pair up and even as a pair they would keep their distance. Octopus kaijus are known to be very territorial even towards their own species.

His tail started to curl around her tentacle, Like I'll take your word on it. He said, giving her the same smug smile. Goodness, even the inside of his mouth was glowing that bright, blue color.

She pulled her tentacle away from his tail and floated back to give them much needed space. Don't you have other places to go, Lizard.

I do, but when another kaijus comes out of nowhere and kicks you between the legs, I like to know a little bit about them.

I said I was sorry for that, but you scared me.

Oh yeah, you should be scared. You have no clue how close you were from being blasted to nothing, but ash. It wouldn't be that hard. He said, swimming around her with a wicked grin.

If you say so…just like it won't be hard to break your neck in one quick move. She said, closing her eyes from the mere awful thought. She has the strength and speed to kill, but never tested that theory yet, she only said it in hopes the Lizard would go away. Sea Creatures like her were their main food source after all.

Yeah, you would do that, no doubt about it so I'm not going to take that chance.

She sighed and started to swim back towards her cave for some much needed sleep. Regretting ever leaving her comfortable spot to begin with. The first time talking to another kaijus in weeks and this is what she gets.

By the way, what's your name Squid?

She stopped, not by the fact he called her a Squid again, but by him asking for her name. That was the last thing on her errands she needed to do in order to start a new life. She had some ideas, but never followed up on them since she didn't have her best friend or foster family to give their second opinion on it, so they were just little thought bubbles in her mind. She thought about the little silly names her best friend's cubs would call her when they were just barely pronouncing words. They used to call her Na-Na and would ask for Ki-Ki's (kisses) from her…oh kaijus, that was so long ago, the last time she checked on them, some of her friend's cubs were having cubs of their own.

Do you not have a name?

She nodded slowly before looking at him. I go by many names…She said,...But my friends call me Na Kika. What is your name other than Monster?

Call me Dagon. He said, with pride.

She wasn't expecting her new life to start with a new friend….

00000000000

It was a month before she saw Dagon again and by then she decided to make this seamount, this small little cave her home. Resting here made her realize how secluded the place was. Sure there were tiny sea creatures swimming around and giving her a source of food, but as for bigger predators? Nothing. From the looks of it, she was probably the biggest threat here in this spot. Plus the place was nice, the cave was warm and vibrant and the water was blue and clear during the day. The bottom of the ocean was spooky and black, like it went on for miles and miles. She has yet to swim down there due to it being completely dark and cold, but it was up there on her to-do-list. What Na Kika liked the most about this place was the quietness. The peace she's been tracking down for so long. Where no one knew who she was or even cared.

Well, except for one that is.

I want to show you something….

Once again curious for her own good, she agreed and proceeded to follow him up to the surface of the ocean. The bright sun could be seen, dancing thanks to the waves. Dagon was already out of the water by the time she popped her head out only to see him standing by the shoreline in all his scales and glory. It was then she noticed his eyes were a different color. Not the bright, blue when they first met, but a dark, polished gold. His plates were decorative, worn down and brownish-green. The same color of his tough, armor scales that were littered with battle scars. While greatly mature in age, he still looked young compared to the much older lizard kaijus she's seen over her life.

I'm surprised you came back to see me. She asked, looking at the land around them. It was flat and full of sand and sea shells.

I figure being by yourself, you wouldn't mind the company.

You hardly know me. What makes you think I wanted company.

Dagon stared at her before shrugging his shoulders. Just going by a hunch. I've gone years without any kaiju contact and let me tell you. That type of mental anguish can really mess you up. I don't think a pretty, delicate thing like you could handle it properly.

She stared at him, trying to read his facial features and it clicked. Dagon wasn't here to bother her or start something, he was here because he wanted company. Which was odd because she thought lizards were in some sort of pack and traveled in groups. Well, I guess I should thank you for thinking of my Well-being. She said, with a small hint of sarcasm.

Watch it, I know sarcasm when I hear it, Na Kika. He said, as he began to stretch out his arms, tail and back.

She glided her way closer to the shoreline, just enough for her body to rest in the soft sand while the waves gently hit her from behind. Once she was comfortable, she looked up at him and said, So, how long have you been by yourself?

He made a firm stance, literally stomping his feet into the sand, before inhaling a few deep breaths of air. About four hundred years, give or take. Me and my Sire left our pack when I was a young Adolescent only to have him die years later. Not sure, I lost count really. After a while the years just blend in.

You look awfully young for someone that's over four hundred years old.

Just how I am. When you are born with a weird "Mutation" it has it's gifts as well as it's drawbacks. He said, before concentrating on something far away. Where the ocean met the sky. At the corner of her eye, she noticed the tiny plates on the tip of his tail begin to glow bright, one by one. Slowly making their way up to the larger plates on his back.

Is that normal? She asked, looking at the glowing place unease. Once the last plate spiked, his eyes were next. Turning those dark golden irises into those bright blue ones she saw when they first met. He opened his mouth, letting sparks of blue light spill out before inhaling as much air as he could into his lungs.

She nearly lost it when a powerful blue beam flew out of the lizard kaiju's mouth, forcing the ground beneath her to shake violently. The beam flew across the ocean, dividing the water into two large waves. He then snaps his neck up, sending the bright beam up into the sky, destroying a large, puffy cloud and lighting up their location brighter than the hot sun. She had to look away to avoid blinding her eyes only to have everything stand perfectly still and quiet. When she opened her eyes, she saw Dagon slightly smiling before blowing out a puff of blue smoke from his snout. Water began to rain down on them even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky thanks to him. His eyes trail down to her as if waiting for her to react to his so called "Gift" and the only thing she was able to muster was a breathy….Wow….

Pretty neat, huh? He said, before settling down on the ground, so he can be at eye level with her.

Dangerous would be a better word. She said, before reaching up to touch one of his large plates. She hissed from how hot it was and pulled her tentacle away. So this is what you meant by being "Rare?"

He nodded bitterly. Yeah, as of now, I'm the only one who can do that. You know, shoot "beams" out of their mouths. Among other things like glowing and having super hyper senses and stuff that seems to keep other kaijus away.

Does it hurt? She asked because if something like that made his plates superheated, she can't imagine what that power could do to someone's insides.

When I was younger it did. It hurt like hell, there were times I would overuse it just to get used to the pain and would end up losing my voice for days and get heavy bleeding from my snout.

Gross, let's not get into the gory details.

What's the matter, can't stand blood or something?

She shook her head. I just don't like violence.

How in the world did you make it this far in life without violence?

I happen to be a very likable kaiju, Dagon. I mean, there were a few…misguided Creatures that wanted to harm me, but other than that, I was very approachable. She said, half-heartedly. Sadly the ones who wanted to hurt her the most were also the ones she thought she could trust with every fiber of her Being. They were also one of the main reasons she needed to get away and start a new life.

Dagon looked at her with this tired facial expression. And hitting kaijus below the waist is perfectly acceptable.

You were about to attack me. She said quickly, feeling embarrassed by him constantly bringing it up. What would her old Companions think if word got back to them. She cleared her throat, So, this is the reason you've been alone all your life.

Having "Destructive-like" powers doesn't exactly make me an approachable kaiju.

She looked up at the beautiful sky trying to reset itself after that blue beam before looking at Dagon, who was staring out at the ocean. He let out a small sigh, relaxing his body after that type of abuse, and blew out dark blue smoke. His face was firm yet tired.

She exhaled, getting his attention. Perhaps you should smile more. She said, getting somewhat of a chuckle from him.

0000000000000

She never asks for much from him. Normally, her sweet smile and soothing voice was enough to get him to help her when she didn't need it. One thing he did as a gift for "Putting up with his nonsense," he redid her home. After looking at her cave again, he realized the seamount was actually an underwater volcano. A great place to settle and recharge after a long day of swimming. She protested of course, since he was going to use his beam to expand it, but he was confident enough to do it without anything exploding. She'll admit, after all was said and done, the bigger, deeper cave was nice, more roomy and warmer and a nice view of the lava flowing at the bottom, but again, it wasn't something she needed. After all, she was trying to prove to herself she can make it on her own, especially now at her age.

Just take the gift and be happy. Dagon said, before swimming up towards the surface.

I am happy, but like I said, you didn't have to do it. She said, following him.

I was trying to be nice and that's saying something. Normally, I don't do nice things for other kaijus.

She blushed, Then I must be really special…

He stopped to let her catch up till they were facing each other, floating in the middle of the clear, blue sea. You are. You listen. It's been decades since I had a decent conversation with someone.

You make it sound like that's so hard to do.

Oh, it is for a lot of kaijus, that's why you deserve a better home. He said, even going as far as caressing the top of her head. He slowly retracts his claws before looking up at the surface. I better go, I haven't been on land in a month. I need to give my leg muscles a good workout.

She nodded, still feeling his warm touch on her head, Will you…will you visit me again?

He tilted his head and smirked. Oh, am I finally warming up to you? You tend to look annoyed when I come by unannounced.

She shook her head, I can't lie to you, Dagon. I don't see you as a Monster. I just see…You.

He blinked, like it was hard for him to take a compliment as simple as that. Well, that's nice to know. He said, before swimming up to the surface, Take care of yourself.

She watched him go with a warm Awe. You never answer my question?

Don't worry, Na Kika. I'll be back. Count on it…..

0000000000

For the next couple of decades or so, things were nice. She would spend her days watching the world go by from the safety of her cave and while she did make new friends overtime, Dagon ended up being her closest companion. He was true to his word, he would visit her every few days to check on her Well-being or for a good night rest in her cave. Apparently, it was hard to get a good night sleep on land when you're alone, you don't have someone to watch your back in case there was trouble. She didn't mind, the cave the big enough for them to sleep and she enjoyed having him close…perhaps a little too much.

It didn't dawn on her that she was slowly feeling something different about him when he didn't return till three months later. The longest he's been away from her since they first met.

She was out swimming only to come back to find him in her cave sleeping off what seemed like a very brutal fight. He was covered in cuts, bites and black bruises. She was going to wake him up to find out what happened to him, but decided against it. He was sleeping so peacefully it was quite…cute. So instead she settled down right next to him, using her tentacles to hold him for comfort. A small smile peeked on his head as if telling her he was aware of her presence despite being in a deep slumber.

After two days of slumber, Dagon finally woke up and had a rather impressive story to tell and like always, she listened while tenderly treating his wounds. It was a nice story, apparently on his way over to her turf he came across a small pack of lizard kaijus migrating to the nearest ocean. Of course, being a social kaiju as he is, he couldn't help, but walk over there to say hello. At first they were aggressive towards him since he was an Outsider and smelled differently to them, but…

The Alpha took a liking to me. Dagon said, before letting out a small hiss while she plucked a few pieces of broken plates out of his side. During his fight, his opponent rammed his body against his with enough force he broke some of his plates off. She said I was sweet.

She flinched from the word sweet. Sweet?...like a female in interest. She asked, feeling weird at the thought. Out of the years of friendship, not once has Dagon mentioned a female. It got to the point, she thought he just wasn't interested in settling down.

Gross, Na Kika. She's old enough to be my mother.

Should age matter? She's an adult and you're an adult. She said, thinking about her old Foster Sister. She wasn't young anymore just like her, but would still flirt with young males since they had more stamina.

It's not like that, get your mind out of the Tar Pit. Dagon said, slightly amused from her assumption than offended. Anyway, you know how females are, she was nice enough to welcome me since it's rare for lizard kaijus to travel alone and that's where I've been for the past few months.

She was taken aback, but smiled, So you actually found a home? What did they say when you showed them your "gift." She asked since "curse" sounded too rude.

He grumbled causing bubbles to blow out of his snout. I haven't told them, especially the Alpha…yet.

She stared at him, before bringing her tentacle up to his swollen right eye. Completely shut after getting headbutted. Don't you think that's some very important information to discuss.

He sighed, I don't know…over the weeks, after getting to know the Pack members, it was nice for them to look at me like I was normal. It felt like I was living in my own pack before my plates started to glow.

But you shouldn't be ashamed of what you have….then it dawned on her…Is that why you're so badly beaten? Did they find out??

He looked away. No, one of the males in the pack took me having a friendly conversation with a female as flirtation…so he challenged me. He caught me in a good mood, so I let him win.

She didn't believe him at first, but after looking over his wounds, none of them were fatal and most of them healed rather quickly and nicely just from him sleeping. So this female…were you flirting with her?

Hahaha, very funny, Na Kika. Last thing I want is to get involved with a female.

Why not? You have a lot to offer?

Besides drama and mutation, what do I have to offer? I'm considered damaged goods.

Hmph…She said, playfully hitting a spot of open flesh on his arm, getting a small yelp from him. Is that what you think or did someone actually tell you that?

What was that for? He growled, That Asshole clawed me pretty hard right there, why make it worse?

She looked away, turning around till she was facing the exit of her cave. Because, it gets tiring hearing you doubt yourself like that. You're a remarkable Being, why is it so hard to see that?

She heard him snort, no doubt rolling his eyes from her positive outlook on him. When you hear others call you a Monster your whole life, including your own mother, how am I supposed to take it?

By not listening to them for one and not believing them in the first place. Obviously, the ones from your past were wrong since this Alpha likes you and the female you were having "Friendly Conversations" with did too. She said, putting a pinch of sneer on her last part of her sentence. She wasn't the jealous type, not by a long shot, but the fact that he was gone for three months to be around this Pack rubbed her the wrong way.

Dagon chuckled, I wasn't flirting with that female, Na Kika and the Alpha…well, I don't know about her. She just likes me. I'm sure there's more to the story, but I won't know till I visit again.

That stung her. Oh, so you're going back?

The Alpha, Cybele told me I'm welcome to come back anytime.

She closed her eyes believing this was probably a good-bye of some sort, but she played it cool. She didn't want him to think she was clingy or worse, know she was seeing him in a different light. I see…so I guess I'll see later on…every few months now…

She didn't bother to look at him even after he snorted out another chuckle. Oh…so that's what the hit was for…funny I didn't picture you as the jealous type…or one of "Those" kaijus.

"Those"...a weird slang word for kaijus that like to see or mate outside of their species. Some were against it, some were not and she crushed on males that were different and had so many suitors in all shapes and sizes that wanted to court her. So it never bothered her being one of "Those." Dagon was probably the only male she befriended that didn't have romantic interest in her. I'm not jealous…I just…didn't like the fact you were gone for so long…

There was silence, she could hear his tail swish around, meaning he was thinking on what to say. I came back…I just got distracted living a life I thought I lost a long time ago.

And I can understand that. She said, looking at him finally. He looked confused on why she was so upset. I know you have a life and you travel everywhere…but is it wrong for me to ask for you to come by so I can make sure you're fine…the ocean is a dangerous place…I can't imagine what the world above is like. I thought something really bad happened to you.

Oh kaiju Na Kika, you worried too much, you know that? He said, before crawling slowly towards her. She couldn't help, but smirk on how he crawls. It was weird seeing lizard kaijus walk on all fours which takes a lot of muscle on their arms according to Dagon.

Is it a flaw to care too much? She asked, feeling a warm blush forming as he got closer.

He pressed his forehead against her, his way to apologize without saying it. One thing she noticed about him was his lack of words when it came to dealing with feelings. Dagon let his actions do the talking and this wouldn't be the first time he tried to be playful to get her to warm up to him and forgive his mistakes. It's flattering, but annoying. He said, nuzzling her face with his forehead and warm snout.

Your playfulness is not going to work this time. She said, though she didn't even resist when he slowly pushed her back till she was lying on the cold, stone ground. Looking up at the ceiling of her cave as it started to light up softly thanks to Dagon's plates, her heart started to pound. He hovered over her with his egoistic smirk. A rare sight to see since Dagon hardly smiles unless he needs something.

But you're still mad. He said, giving her forehead a gentle lick.

She was blushing big time. Before, their little playfulness wouldn't cause warm feelings in her, but now…Dagon, you're going to reopen your wounds…

They're fine. He said, while his eyes darted at all her tentacles rising up from underneath him, readying themselves to fight back. They quickly pounce on him with two wrapping around his arms and another two grabbing hold of his large plates. He didn't even flinch from her attack. He knew she was playing, reciprocating to his own game and he smirked. Oh no, what ever should I do? He joked, only to yelp again when one of her tentacles jabbed him in his open wound again. He tried to bite it away, only to get slapped upside the head by another. She giggled and he smirked. No fair, I don't have eight limbs. He leaned down to nuzzle her face again. Even going as far as planting a small kiss on her cheek. Being as tender as he can so he wouldn't hurt her with his untamed strength. Little blue sparks started to blow out of his mouth, showering her with some warm, pure radiation.

She so badly wanted to pull him close, but…, Dagon…I'm being serious here.

He groaned, rolling his eyes while collapsing on his side next to her. You're no fun. He said calmly, letting his plates dim down to a very soft glow. Stop being mad.

She didn't move, she just laid there, staring at nothing in particular. Trying to calm her heart down. It felt like it was going to tear out of her chest.

I didn't mean to be gone that long…He whispered, being serious as she wanted. And I wasn't flirting.

This isn't about you flirting, Dagon. She groaned in frustration. Just…just…next time you plan to stay away for a long time. Just let me know. Ok. So, I don't have to worry.

Fine, Fine, I am going back to the Pack and might gone for a bit again, but I'll be back.

Thank you. That's all I wanted to know.

Ok! He said, a little irritated.

She smiled. Ok…

There was dead silence. A comfortable silence in her opinion till Dagon spoke again. Not that it matters, but you shouldn't worry about the other females. You know you're my first priority.

She started to blush again, not sure how to take what he meant. You're just saying that.

No, you're my most trusted, loyal friend….He yawned, No one can replace you.

Minutes later, he was sound asleep and she just laid staring at his face while letting one of her tentacles caress the outline of his scales. Dagon can be so…confusing sometimes. It would be so hard for her to figure out his words and movement. Just like now when he told her how trusted and loyal she was to him, but was that his way of confessing his feelings or was she just like he said, a friend he can count on. She wanted to be open with him, but feared she might end their friendship if she ask the wrong questions. She loved him too much to lose him.

Like always Dagon kept his words, she was irreplaceable in his heart…even after Shri came into the picture….

Part II

Irreplaceable

~And if you feel like you're sinking,

I will jump right over

Into cold, cold water for you

And although time may take us into different places

I will still be patient with you

And I hope you know

I won't let go

I'll be your lifeline tonight

I won't let go

I'll be your lifeline tonight…~

For the next couple of years, Dagon's visits shorten, going as far as seeing her only once a month and despite the hurt it would cause, she looked forward to his presences and all the wonderful stories he had for her. She couldn't really complain, Dagon looked happy to be part of a Pack again and getting along with his Fellow members of his kind though he was still hiding his "Gift" in the dark from the Alpha and those that were close to her. She was upset about it, but Dagon didn't want to ruin the relationship he was developing with the Alpha.

She sees me as one of her own. She even called me her son. How weird is that? He said, while they were swimming around on a nice warm day. Even her second-in-command Dalia thinks she's letting her feelings cloud her judgment. That Old Hag is insufferable, but she does have a point. I wouldn't trust myself.

It's not that weird, I grew up with Foster parents and siblings. She said, like it was no big deal.

He stopped and looked at her, You never told me that?

She realized her mistake, Oh…well, you never ask.

He looked at her dumbfounded, floating there like he forgot how to swim. Like I could really tell just by looking at you that you grew up with different parents and shit.

She frowned, It's not really important.

He didn't buy it. So what happened? Were you abandoned as well because that would be hard to believe.

She shook her head. No, of course not. Have you ever heard of "The Clearance?"

He chuckled, Any kaiju that can breathe underwater knows about"The Clearance." It's an old tale parents would use to scare their kids or give as a boring History Lesson. Those Shark kaijus…damn, they''re about as bad as those disgusting Parasites on land.

That's a little harsh. You can't compare an aggressive predator to low-life things like the Mutos.

You're only saying that because you never faced them before. I had. Some of their male lackeys tried to take me down to be a Host, worst mistake, I tell you. I ended up burning them down except for one. He flew away and told Muto Prime about my "Gift" and now, I'm officially on that Bitch's spit-list.

I'm just saying because I knew a Shark kaiju. Razor Winds as we called them way back then and we were really good friends.

He looked at her in disbelief. Wow that's saying something knowing what their Species did and how rough they are towards others.

I get that alot since my parents died during "The Clearance." There was more to the story, much more, but something she wanted to keep to herself since that was a very private matter. But I couldn't let that tragedy get to me. My Foster mother who was also my Best Friend made sure of that. Not to mention, he felt guilty for "The Clearance," even though he had nothing to do with it. He just knew it left a bad smudge on his Kind.

At least he had feelings. Predators like those usually don't.

Don't kaijus say the same thing about your Kind?

He smirked. Exactly. She rolled her eyes and continued on with their daily swimming. It was nearly noon which meant Dagon would take her to a more populated area to hunt. Dagon swam after her till he was right by her side. So this Shark Kaiju….

Razor Wind. She corrected him. Not sure if she should give a name or not. It's not gossip if he remain anonymous.

Sure…were you and him…you know…He made a very inappropriate sexual gesture with his claws.

She blushed big time. DAGON! What is wrong with you? She stammered. That's highly inappropriate.

Just asking, your voice got very quiet when you were talking about him.

What does that have to do with anything?

You get really quiet and shy when it comes to touchy subjects. Like violence or sex. There's no shame if you've been with one, you seem to like the male Predators from what I'm seeing. He grins, showing off his sharp white teeth.

She huffed, Why are you bringing up such nonsense?

I wouldn't call it nonsense…I just noticed the sudden change when you mention the male. It made me realize you never talk about your love life.

Is it wrong that I want to keep things like that private? She asked, looking at him and the curiosity in his eyes. The staring went on and on, one of Dagon's ways of nagging her without words. She sighed, You might find this hard to believe, but when I was younger I was known as the "Jewel of the Sea." I was approached by many Suitors asking to court me…

That's not hard to believe. You're very vibrant with color, what male wouldn't notice you.

(You don't) She thought, frowning a bit, but quickly changed her expression before Dagon could notice. It was nice, but a burden as well. The one thing some kaijus don't understand about those with beauty, we have problems as well. It was hard to make friends, a lot of females were jealous of all the attention I was getting and the males only wanted one thing if you know what I mean. They only saw me as some prize to win and not someone to love.

Is that what your male friend saw you as? He asked.

She blinked, remembering her friend way back then. Even after hundreds of years, he would still cross her mind once in a while when she wanted to revisit her past life. The endless conversations, when he would watch her while she explored dangerous territories, all the compliments and praise he would shower her with and even went as far as saying how much he loved her. He was a strong, charming, handsome male, what's not to like or love about him. No…I knew he cared about me in his own way. She said, drifting off a bit.

Dagon blinked, But…? He asked, letting the question linger before adding…You two didn't live happily ever after with hatchlings?

Everything changed when she found out about him and her Foster Sister...

She shook her head and put on a careless smile. Nope, it just didn't work out. She said, giving him a hint to drop the topic.

Dagon knew her so well. That sucks. He said, and changed the subject. So, you said you have Foster Siblings? Were they a big pain in the rear?

She went dead silent from the question. An image of her Foster Sister flashed before her eyes and she didn't know how to feel about it. My Foster mother and father had many, many cubs so I consider them my siblings and I had one older Foster sister who grew up with me. She was…colorful. She finished, hoping he wouldn't ask anymore about her past or family.

As if reading her mind, he snorted, Just wondering, the Alpha…Cybele's son has been a little testy lately with me.

The infamous Apollo. Well, not sure if the word Infamous would be the right way to describe the male since she hasn't met him face to face. She was just going by what Dagon would tell her during his stay at Cybele's Pack. At first, there wasn't much to say about the Lizard kaiju. Apollo was the same age as Dagon and pretty much had the attitude and entitlement of any Alpha's heir. They can do no wrong and feel like that can get away with things since they were next in line to lead. He kept his distance from Dagon and only saw him as another "Charity Case" his mother wanted to "Pet and Feed." From what Dagon told her, as he got closer in this mother/son relationship with Cybele, the more Apollo was getting in his face and sniping him.

He thinks I'm trying to steal his position. He said, annoyed. Like I purposely discovered the Pack and befriended the Alpha just so I can take over. I'm not in the right mind or stance to lead, I just wanted to find a home. He said, while looking around for some prey.

She was hoping to find something soon. The last meal she ate was about a week ago and it would be nice to eat some actual meat instead of tiny sea creatures or seaweed. Dagon was good at capturing large kaijus for her to pick at without having to risk getting hurt when killing it. Have you tried talking to him? Let him know you're no threat.

Fuck Na Kika, I wouldn't be complaining if I haven't tried that already. He spat, while looking up at the surface and spotted a shadowy figure flying around. I have. I told him so many times, I have no interest in taking over. Only for him to give me a smug look while telling me that's a smart choice since he's stronger than me and faster than me and a bigger Asshole than I'll ever be. I swear I don't know how Cybele could have such an irritable Prick like him for a son. I feel bad for the female he's courting, knowing very well she's going to have to put up with that hatchling-shit for the rest of her life.

Oh my, I wouldn't think a female would find his personality…um charming. She said, floating in the same spot while Dagon slowly swam up to the surface. No doubt spotted a Flyer flying around to see if they could capture a fish for food. Poor thing, once it's close enough for Dagon to grab, he's going to take the kaiju down to drown it. Not the nicest thing to see, but that was life and she was hungry.

Yuck, it's an Arranged Courtship. An old Tradition in my species. Sires will offer their daughters to a male they deemed worthy. Apollo wasted no time accepting Shri when her Sire offered her to him. Apparently, he had a crush on her since they were Adolescents.

She tapped the bottom of her mouth with her tentacle. Shri? That's a pretty name.

He shrugged, She's alright. Very quiet and constantly lost in thought. Sucks that she's in a bad bind though.

Does she have a right to say No to the Courtship?

It's rare for our females to say no. That tends to lead to some harsh retaliation and a bad reputation. Cybele told me, she was in the same bind, but she tried to make it work. She really did, but in the end as she puts it her Mate was just "Out of control." So in the end, she ended up killing him. She said it took her forever to erase that awful smudge off her reputation.

So she would either have to mate with a male she doesn't love or get shunned. That's…harsh.

Like I said, it sucks. The only way out if another male challenges Apollo for her claw, but like that would ever happen. You can't say No to Apollo, that spoiled pile of dirt, I think Shri knows she'll end up hurt or exiled if she refuses.

Before she could respond, Dagon jumped out of the water only to come crashing down with a bright blue bird-serpent in his mouth. The male kaiju struggled to break free as Dagon dragged him deeper and deeper underwater, no even caring the bird was using his claws and beak to stab and scratch at his face. Small ribbons of blood began to float towards the surface, so she calmly looked away to prevent herself from seeing the bird struggle for air and freedom. Moments later they were relaxing in the shallow parts of the water to eat and for Dagon to catch some sun rays to boost his energy.

While feasting on the bird's inside organs, she couldn't help, but bring up the Arranged Courtship thing again. I was thinking….

A dangerous pastime, Na Kika. Dagon said between each chew of raw, bloody meat. His mouth was covered in blood and bright blue feathers.

Perhaps, you should try challenging Apollo for Shri's claw

He nearly choked on his food and coughed up a few wet feathers. What?!

Hear me out.

Na Kika, are you crazy, I barely know her and don't even like her that way. Not to mention, I told you I'm not looking for a mate.

I know, but look at it this way. If you challenge Apollo and win, you can just tell Shri she's free to do whatever she wants.

He stared at her like she was dumb and she was right. Na Kika, I value you (his way of saying I love you), but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Apollo is crazy about her, he's not going to give her up that easily whether she hates him or not.

She frowned. Feeling dumb as he puts it. It was just a helpful thought. How about we changed the subject.

He shrugged, Fine. How about you tell me more about your past. You said you have a sister?

Yes…She said.

Well, that's new, how come you never mentioned her before?

Let's change the subject again, please. She asked politely.

She really didn't want to talk about…

000000000

When he came back for another visit two months later, she nearly lost all her color from the sight of him. He returned battered and bruised once again, only this time it was much worse than before and he was furious at himself.

I messed up! He shouted while pacing back and front in the sand as she watched from the shoreline. He was covered head to toe in wounds. Brutal ones, like he fought for his life and nearly got himself killed. The worst one was on the left side of his neck. His gills were literally torn to shreds and spilling blood all over the place due to him stomping around. He had bites and scratches all over his body and from the looks of it someone tried to claw his eyes out. They were bleeding and puffy. Fuck, how can I be so stupid!

Calm down. She said, but it was hard to settle him since he was on land. A place that was hard for her to move since she didn't have the same bone structure like Dagon. She told him to come down into the ocean where she can treat him better, but can't due to his gills being shredded. What in the world happened?

He huffed before plopping himself down on the ground next to her. She couldn't help, but cringe from his scent. He reeked of blood and burnt flesh, but kept herself from moving away. Instead she used her tentacle to scoop up some water and gently pour it on his face to wash the blood away. Alpha Cybele came to me this morning with a proposition. She confided in me that she didn't think Apollo was mature enough yet to take over and with her advancing age, she can't lead much longer so she asked if I wanted to take her place.

She gasped, Oh wow, what an honor!

No, no, don't even start with the celebration and shit like that, Na Kika. He said, shaking his head, which she stopped with her tentacle and continued to clean his face. Honor my Ass, it's that honor that got me in this mess in the first place.

How?

He grumbled. Apollo overheard us. I swear that male loves to spy on those he feels threatened and next thing I know, those two are in a full blown screaming match. He then got up into my face again believing I brainwashed Cybele into doing this and he would not take it lying down. So he challenged me to a Spar. Cybele tried to intervene, but he wasn't having it. He just had enough of me and of course, he had to get the whole Pack involved, making sure everyone sees me get beaten to a pulp. In my defense I tried to walk away. He paused.

She blinked, But…

He huffed, He just got to me. Taunting me in front of everyone. Calling me weak and worthless and he can see why I was kicked out of my other Pack in the first place. I was probably an embarrassment. I should've walked away, but part of me just wanted to prove myself and shut him up.

Your gills are a mess, hold still, I'm going to wrap one of my tentacles around it to stop the bleeding.

Fine, just don't choke me. He said, only to let out a small gag when she coiled her arm around his neck.

You need to be more careful, Dagon. Some of these wounds could've been fatal.

Oh, you should see Apollo. I won thanks to me burning his face off. He said, slightly proud of himself only to have her slap that smug grin off his battered face. OW!

She looked at him in disbelief. You used your powers? Dagon…

He's alive…He grumbled while rubbing the part of his cheek she slapped. Though his face is going to have a very nasty scar after getting hit with the beam at point-blank. But who cares, I'm in deep shit, Na Kika. I tried to hold it back, but he had me backed in a corner. He already tore out one set of gills and I could tell he was going to take out the other set. I had no choice. Oh kaiju, the look on his face when he saw me powering up.

Fear? She asked.

More like Horror. He actually took a step back before getting hit and after he collapsed, everything around me went dead silent. He lowered his head and she could see him trying so hard not to shed tears. Not out of sadness, just pure frustration and she knew why. For years and years, he kept his "Gift" a secret from the Alpha, who saw him as a son and her Followers, who saw him as a normal lizard kaiju. They grew to like him and took him in as family and now…They just stared at me. Like they didn't know what to do or how to react. Even Cybele was dumbfounded by it. Then they all looked at Apollo who was groaning in pain and whispering he couldn't see out of the eye I hit. I took a step forward because although we don't see eye to eye, I didn't want him to die, but when I did…when I took that one tiny step, everyone around me flinched. Like they were preparing themselves to run away if I made a wrongful move. Before anyone could say anything, I ran off. I don't want to hear them calling me a Monster and came here.

Dagon…She said, patting his bruised shoulder with her tentacle before trailing up to caress his cheek. It's going to be Ok.

He pulled away and hissed from his wounds. I know it will be, it just fucking annoying. No doubt I'm going to be hunted down for nearly killing the Alpha's Heir and I can't disappear in the water due to my wounded gills. I can't stay on land for long either because if they find me I'll be too weak to fight back.

She unwrapped her tentacle off his neck to reexamine his gills. The bleeding stopped, but they were really bad. From the looks of it, Apollo tried very hard to tear them off with his teeth. Don't worry, we'll think of something. I saw an island nearby, I can help you get over there so you can heal without any interruptions.

He chuckled, That's funny Na Kika. I'm like three times heavier than you.

True, but you're very light in the water. We'll just keep you on the surface to prevent your gills from getting worse. She suggested.

He stared at her for what seemed like forever as if looking at her for the first time. Even with his eyes slightly swollen shut and scratched up, she could see the softness in his golden irises. They were dark like polished gold she would find on the ocean floor. Rare treasures she would pick and collect during her younger days. That's what his eyes reminded her of: Rare treasures.

A giant wave hit her from behind, pushing her closer to Dagon than she wanted and could feel Dagon's arms using the wave as an opportunity to pull her in for a hug. A dark red blush spread across her cheeks and could feel the side of her face pressed up firmly against his damaged gills. Dagon was never shy when it came to playful affection, but this one felt different. Something she would feel when comforting her old friends after a bad day. She swallowed, Dagon…?

He hugged her tighter, I had near death experiences before…He whispered, making her heart beat hard against her chest. I held back because I didn't want them to see my true self and nearly die for it…and the only thing that was going through my mind was you…

Her eyes widened, but instead of feeling happy, she felt nervous, believing he was confessing his true feelings for her. There was so much she wanted to say, she played her words out over and over again for this exact moment, yet it felt like her throat was closing up due to his embrace and words….Me?

He nodded. Another wave crashed into them, pushing her closer to him to the point she can feel every outline of his armor scales. Yeah…I was thinking, what was going to happen to you if I wasn't around. You can be such a high maintenance nightmare sometimes.

Something in her fizzle, but she quickly snapped out of it, so he wouldn't get suspicious. You're the one always coming over with blood and wounds. She whispered back.

He grumbled, I was trying to make you laugh, Na Kika.

She pulled away from his embrace and stared at him. Trying hard to calm down her flustered face and prevent tears from coming out. Sadly, he caught them, but before he could say anything, she came up with an excuse. Pardon me, my face is getting dry from being out of the water too long. She said, trying to wipe her face, to the point of just covering herself with her tentacles. I'm sorry…She felt exposed all of a sudden.

She nearly flinched when she felt his claws grabbing her pair of tentacles and gently removing them from her face, so she could stare at him. His face was firm despite all the injuries. Seriously, Na Kika, I wasn't kidding when I said- He heard a tree snapped from behind him and quickly turned around to see who the intruder was with a deep, warning-filled growl. Going as far as using his battered body to hide her and protect her.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. A female voice jittered. It was hard for her to see since she was hiding behind Dagon.

Dagon relaxed. Shri?

(Shri?) She thought to herself as Dagon struggled to pick himself up from the sandy ground. Once he was on his feet, that gave her a chance to check out the one named Shri. Standing there about a tail-length way was the female lizard Dagon mentioned a few times. She had a gentle look, the same golden eyes like Dagon, but was smaller with light gray scales and smaller, more round back-plates. Shri's eyes trailed down till they locked firmly with her bright blue ones. The female lizard then tilted her head. So this is where you disappear too….and why you never respond to our females' flirtation.

She blushed and felt Dagon flinch. What? No, this is my companion.

Shri raised a brow, Are you sure about that?

He rolled his eyes, What are you doing here, Shri. Are you here to yell at me for burning your soon-to-be Mate.

She frowned from the word "Mate." I'll admit, Apollo can be unreasonable, but he didn't deserve that type of punishment, but no, Cybele sent some of the Pack members out to look for you. She just wanted to make sure you're alright.

He stared at her, trying his hardest to keep his swollen eyes open. What?

Did Apollo bust your hearing? I said Cybele is looking for you. She said, unamused by his confusion.

I heard what you said, you don't have to be a Smartass about it. The question is why? He asked.

She looked up at him and tapped his foot. Dagon, don't be rude. She is a female afterall.

Shri took a step forward, while keeping her eyes locked on her as if trying to figure out why a kaiju like herself was here on the surface. Why else? You've been living with our Pack off and on and fail to mention that blue beam of yours? Our Alpha doesn't like secrets kept from her and that one was a really big secret.

Save it, just pretend you didn't see me and I won't bother you guys anymore. He said, turning away from the female.

Shri scoffed, That's it. After everything our Alpha did for you, took you in and treated you like her own and even after you beat her Heir fair and square, you're just going to leave like a coward.

He was about to strike back, not in the form of a swipe or bite, but by harsh words, so she quickly tugged on his tail to keep him from doing something he might regret. The female didn't know, she didn't know words like Coward, monster and weak can trigger Dagon hidden self-loathing rage. Dagon looked down at her again and recognized the warning look. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, hissing from his own warm breath hitting his busted lip. I'm not going to stay where I'm not wanted. Trust me, you're not going to hurt my feelings, I've been down this road many, many times.

Ok, I'll admit most of the Pack were a little spooked from seeing a bright blue beam shoot out of your mouth, but Alpha Cybele was more intrigued than anything else. That's why she wants to see you. Shri said, taking another step closer to him. A little too close for her liking, Dagon never let anyone get that close to him, but her.

Intrigued? Why would she be intrigued? You would think she would feel threatened that I might be dangerous.

Shri was now right in his face, closely staring at his mouth that was covered in dried blood. No, She said,..If you really wanted to kill her or anyone in the Pack with that type of power you would've done it already. I mean, you've been around us for decades and hid this from her, I figure you were too ashamed to show it. Does that sound dangerous to you?

He took a step back, Why are you so close to me? He asked.

Her eyes narrowed, So does the beam only come out of your mouth or can it come out of your plates as well? Does it burn when you glow and can you still see when your eyes turn blue?

He calmly pushed her back away. Damn, respect a kaiju's personal space, please. He said, annoyed.

You didn't seem to mind having the Octopus wrapping herself all over you? What's a matter, did I step into her territory.

Now she was annoyed. Please don't talk about me like I'm not here.

Shri smirked, My apologies…normally, we don't see your kind up here on the surface.

Dagon smirked, It's easy for her knowing I'm around. She knows I won't let anything happen to her. He said, settling down on his knees to give her a proper introduction, like she was an Alpha and must have the highest respect. Shri, this is Na Kika, my most trusted Companion.

The way he said it with such pride and joy and perhaps love, she couldn't help, but blush and feel as tall as they were. Shri, on the other hand, didn't look impressed, still she slightly smirked. Charmed. You are one weird lizard, Dagon. First with that intriguing power and now this. Why would you befriend something you eat?

He rolled his eyes, Are you going to stand there and continue to insult me and Na Kika or are you going to let me leave?

Are you coming back? Seriously, Alpha Cybele wants to see you. She's not going to shun you because of this. Give her a chance just like she gave you one. Shri said, as her final offer.

Dagon looked over at her, his eyes asking her "What should I do?" She sighed, She does have a point.

He grumbled, You're supposed to be on my side. He whispered.

I am and I know if you don't hear Cybele out, you'll regret it. Just give yourself a day or two to heal and then go talk to her. She whispered back. Although she was sure the Alpha wouldn't do anything to harm Dagon, by the way Dagon would talk so highly of her, she didn't want him to go over there alone, hurt and injured.

Great idea. He said, before looking back at Shri, Give me a couple days to heal then all come back and talk to Alpha Cybele.

Shri raised a brow, Do you always take advice from the Octopus?

He got up and limped his way into the water. You better hurry home, Shri. I'm sure my Foster Brother is waiting for you once he wakes up.

She couldn't help, but study Shri's face when he mentioned Apollo and it was filled with sadness and grimness. Poor Thing, there was no sign of love or fondness in it like Dagon mentioned a while back. What a shame, the female was quite beautiful and young and only to have all that wasted on a male she didn't find appealing. So, I guess we'll see you in a couple of days? She asked, staring at Dagon while a small amused smile formed from her deep frown.

A couple of days. Dagon reassured her while submerging his entire body beside his head underwater.

Please don't let Cybele down. She is quite fond of you.

He hissed when the salt water hit his damaged gills, so she quickly pressed her tentacle against it while helping him stay up float. Bye Shri! He said, annoyed, but more in a joking manner.

Shri giggled, Wait till I tell my friends about you being friends with one of our Food Source. They are going to laugh.

Yeah, yeah, knock yourself out. Bye Shri! He shouted again.

She couldn't help, but look back at the Female and noticed a bright smile. The same bright smile she would get after a nice conversation with Dagon…

Part III

Sweet Treat

~Come on, come on

Save me from my rocking boat

I just wanna stay afloat

I'm all alone

And I hope, I hope someone come and take me home

Somewhere I can rest my soul

I need to know you won't let go…~

True to his words, after he recovered, Dagon did go back to talk things out with the female Alpha. He was shocked that not only the Alpha forgave him for using such force on her Heir, but in her eyes, he won fair and square and granted him her blessing to take over as the new Alpha when she's ready to step down.

I'm in deep shit…how can I be an Alpha, I can hardly take care of myself, how can I take of a whole pack. Dagon said, before letting his head plop down on the wet dirt. They were on a small island not too far from land so he could soak up some sun while she watched from the shoreline. While recovered, his gills were still raw and tender for him to swim underwater so he spent the better part of the day resting and sleeping.

Clearly she sees a lot of potential in you. Isn't that what you wanted, to show others who you really are and not some…"Mutation?" Plus, it's not like she is just going to throw you in without guidance. You said she's going to teach you and be there as your Mentor. I say take this opportunity. Who knows you might like it.

He snorted, The Pack members are looking at me differently. Not in anger or pure horror, but…it feels like they have to keep themselves on their toes. To make sure not to piss me off or else they'll end up like Apollo. Then there's him…

She frowned, Is he still bitter towards you?

He shrugged, Not sure what's going on with him. He's just keeping his distance from me and Alpha Cybele is keeping a close watch on him. She knows he's upset about not getting the Title, but she kept reminding him that I won fair and square. It's not my fault he challenged me and lost. I'm still concerned though.

Why, if he's leaving you alone, isn't that a good thing?

He looked at her in disbelief. Not really, one thing I've learned surviving, the Quiet Ones are usually the sneaky ones. They're not avoiding you to keep peace, they're avoiding you because they're plotting.

She snickered. If you say so. Just remember there were times you were just being paranoid when you thought someone was after you. Perhaps he is just using this time to heal as well and rethink his life now.

He rolled his eyes and couldn't help, but chuckle. Funny, you would think I would hear this from Shri instead of you.

When the name Shri popped up, she felt weird. Has the female been on his mind the entire time? What do you mean?

You're defending his character more than she is. You would think with her being Promised to him, she would have a better understanding about him.

I'm only going by what you tell me. It's not like I can walk on land and go introduce myself to Apollo. She said, only to slightly blush….So you and Shri have been talking more?

Eh, she's the only one beside Cybele that still sees me as me. Can't really complain, I guess. She even got her stupid friend Jaya to come around as well, but I feel like there's a motive behind it.

Oh goodness, Dagon, not everyone is against you. I hope you know that.

Not in a way she wants to harm me. She's offering friendship, but I think she only sees me as some bodyguard. Telling me that she feels Apollo has been a bit "Pushy" with their Courtship she doesn't feel comfortable being alone around him.

I see, and the only way to feel safe is to be around you. She concluded. Has she brought this up with the Alpha.

It's just words at this point. It's not like he tried anything forceful yet, but according to her, being around me seems to have Apollo stepping away as well. Though I know he's watching. Call it a gut feeling.

Poor Shri, I feel really bad for her.

How do you think I feel? I have to babysit a fucking grown-ass adult because another grown-ass adult won't behave. He spat while blowing blue sparks out of his snout.

She smiled while pushing herself back into the deep part of the ocean. Not everything is about you, my Dear.

Where are you going?

I'm hungry and since you're in a mood, I'm going to hunt. She said, letting out a small sigh from feeling the water on her sun-dried head.

Alone? He asked.

I can handle myself. I'm in the mood for some crabs or eels or whatever I can find on the bottom.

Suit yourself. Bring me back something if you can. Dagon said, before resting his head on the ground again. Going as far as curling himself into a giant lump for a much better sleep position.

Once she was sure he was asleep she floated down the bottom of the ocean where light can still touch. She wouldn't dare go down to the dark depths, it was too cold and spooky down there even with Dagon by her side, and begin to dig around for hidden sea critters. Hoping to find something fat and plumpy to feed Dagon's endless appetite since he hasn't had a decent meal in the last few days. She couldn't help, but let memories of her youth seep back into her mind. She would go out of her way to collect certain treats for her best friend or even her Foster Sister with a smile on her face and courage in her heart. The Ocean was a dangerous place, but that never stopped her from going off alone to explore. Even after everyone told her not to risk it. She sighed and floated over to a pile of rocks that was covered in bright coral and colorful sea plants. Her eyes caught a long eel trying to hide between two stones and quickly stuck her tentacle in to grab it. Come on, don't be stubborn. She whispered to herself only to yelp when the Eel bit her. She pulled her tentacle back to find a few teeth marks and blood blending in with the water. Rude…She said, and lowered herself down so she could peek into the small opening. Her blue eyes were bright enough to light up the hidden place and could see the eel curled up and baring his small teeth. She was about to reach in to grab it when she felt something approaching her. The way the water would move and sound when something is swimming by. A shadow suddenly appeared, blocking out the light around her and causing the sea critters to run and hide.

So…you must be Na Kika? A deep voice asked in a very eerie tone.

She slowly turned around to see a large, dark green lizard kaiju staring down at her with mischievous eyes. It didn't take her long to realize who it was. The freshly healed scar on his face was a dead giveaway. Dagon's beam hit him closer than she thought because his left eye was damaged to a point it was a solid pearlish white color instead of his gold hue. No doubt permanently blind as well. He had other battle scars like Dagon, something her Companion said it's considered honorable and a way to attract females, clearly showing how many fights and winnings he gained over his life. He was taller and bulkier than Dagon with his back plates broken and jagged. No wonder Dagon needed to use his "Gift" in order to win. From the looks of it, the male doesn't fight fair.

What's the matter, can't speak? He asked, swimming down a little closer to her

The pile of rocks and coral kept her from floating back and he was blocking her direction to get to Dagon, so she had no choice, but to stay where she was. Feeling envious at the Eel that was small enough to hide in tight places. Something she was able to do when she was young. She swallowed. Can I help you? She whispered, making sure to never take her eyes off of his. Dagon once told her when it comes to an opponent, the second they see you look another direction, they will attack and she had a bad feeling. A very bad feeling.

Perhaps. He said, looking around. Where's Dagon?

Why? Is there something important you need to discuss with your Foster Brother? She asked.

He flinched like she slapped him in the face. Don't call him that. We're not related by any means, Bottom Feeder.

Pardon my rudeness then. She said, before swimming around him, so she could leave. I should go.

He blocked her, getting so close she nearly bumped into his chest that were covered in freshly made scratches. Dagon's little work of art and fighting style. So, you're alone? Bad choice, Sweetie, someone like you shouldn't be out here alone.

Someone like me? She asked, though she's been in this type of situation before.

Yeah, so pretty and full of bright colors…He said, getting closer to her as she slowly backed herself against the pile of rock again…that tends to attract some…unwanted attention.

She tried to be brave even though she couldn't take her eyes off his sharp teeth that were so close to biting down on her neck if she wasn't careful. And when that happens I tend to leave, so if you'd excuse me. She tried to move again, but this time he grabbed hold of her and slammed her back on the rocks.

Don't you think for a second I'm going to let Dagon's little Whore leave when I'm trying to talk to her. He hissed. I'm trying to have a conversation here.

She glared at him. And don't think for a second I'm going to let you call me that filthy name.

He grins and floats back with his claws in the air. My bad, I'm just going by the clues. Dagon never mentioned you and apparently when he's not around My Pack, he's here. Something Males tend to do when they're fucking around with an easy female. He said, with a tssk. And I can see why, it's rare for lizards to mess around with other species, but I guess when you're that desperate for a warm hole, it doesn't matter what it is.

She blushed big time because she didn't know how to respond to that. Dagon never mentioned her to Land Kaijus knowing most of them see her as food and his way of protecting her and yes, they do sleep together, but it was only that…sleep. It's not like that and how did you know about us in the first place.

He snorted bubbles out of his snout and smirked. I keep an close eye on my Mate-to-be and she and her bitchy friends love to gossip. I overheard Shri telling her friends that she caught Dagon snuggling up against you after our fight. Going as far as calling you his most Trusted Companion.

And that's what I am. His loyal companion. She said, slightly looking down to hide the blush.

He titled his head a bit. Aww, are you blushing? Does the thought of Dagon being with you forever fill your heart with warmth and desire? When she doesn't say anything, he grins, This is golden and makes things even sweeter.

Sweeter? She asked.

Oh yeah…He said, circling around her, but making sure not to give her space to leave. Just enough to spin around to follow him. If he's bragging to Shri that you're his most Trusted friend, it is clear as day, you mean a lot to him just like he clearly means a lot to you by the blush on your face. If I didn't know better, I say you even love him.

We have a close friendship, why is this an issue?

It's just odd. We don't befriend things we eat and your Kind are definitely a tasty treat. Such a rare creature, it would be a shame to waste an opportunity like this. A nice gift to give to the female I'm courting as a token of my affection, in my opinion. Though, I'm sure Dagon would be crushed if something just came out of nowhere and captured you for food. Seeing the one thing so close to him get eaten alive.

He flexed his claws and without saying another word, she sprinted towards the surface as fast as she could, but sadly, not fast enough. Next thing she knew, she was tackled from behind, not giving her time to strike and spray her surroundings with black ink. He thought this through, squeezing her body tight with his arms, legs and tail to keep her from using her tentacles. They drifted down to the ocean's floor like a stone, body slamming her into the soft dirt and forming a cloud of sand around them. She managed to pull one of her tentacles free and hit him right in his most tender spot, the gills. He roared, spewing bubbles everywhere and loosening his grip enough for her to slip out from under him. His claws reached out and grabbed her by her back tentacle.

Stop fighting, Sweet Thing. I'll only make it worse if you do.

Let me go or I will kill you. She lied. She didn't have in her to kill and from the look in his eyes, he knew.

You're lying. It's not that hard to read your face. He smirked before going after her again.

Even with her wrapping her tentacles around his arms and neck to slow him down, he still managed to bite her hard in the neck. He was trained to fight since he was a hatchling, so she was in no shape to fight someone at his level. It was realized when he easily slammed her back to the ground and pinned her even with her tentacle squeezing his neck tightly. His painful bite on her neck intensified when he dug his teeth deeper. Tearing her soft flesh and letting blood leak out. She freed two more of her tentacles and quickly went after his head. Hitting him repeatedly to get him to let go. Nothing worked, no matter how hard she'd punched it only made him bite harder. Concentrating on his fatal bite attack to pay attention to his own pain. She hit him in his injured eye, forcing him to pull away to roar and swipe her hard in the face with his sharp nails.

Stupid thing, will you just die! He gagged before digging his nails into the bite wound he created.

They were suddenly blinded by a blue light, forcing her to close her eyes only to feel an intense heat hitting her and the lizard kaiju on the side. While it simply grazed her, Apollo's body was tossed off of her like a feather, sending him crashing against the coral covered rocks. She laid there on the ground and groaned before seein Dagon swim past her at extraordinary speed. She turned herself over to rest on her belly and to get a better view on what was happening. Glowing in pure power, rage and that beautiful blue hue, Dagon was holding Apollo by the shoulders and slamming him repeatedly against the coral and rocks.

You just made a big mistake! Dagon roared, his eyes burning bright in blue light.

I was just hunting for food, how I was supposed to know that was the Octopus you were banging. Apollo joked before headbutting Dagon in the chest, sending them down to the ground in a mess of claws, teeth and blood. His claws went right into Dagon's damaged gills, tearing them and reopening the tender flesh. Blood began to seep out, but that didn't stop Dagon from grabbing him by the neck. He lifted Apollo up and delivered a strong beam right in his chest. Apollo screamed and retreated back while holding his chest. Since they were underwater, it didn't burn him like the one on his face, but it left his chest raw and irritated.

Stand down! Dagon shouted, powering up his beam again while making his plates pulse. I won't kill you, Apollo, but I will knock you out.

Apollo hissed, angry in jealousy and hurt pride. You took away my Title, it's only fair I take away something precious of yours! You don't scare me, you're nothing without that power of yours!

Tell it to someone who cares, now leave and if I ever catch you around Na Kika again, I'll blast your other eye out.

Apollo glared at Dagon then at her before slowly turning around to leave. This isn't over, not by a long shot, Brother. He sneered, putting a lot of disdain on the word "Brother" before leaving with his tail between his legs.

Dagon powered down and sighed and once he was sure Apollo was gone, he swam over to her. Are you Ok?

A bit shaken and bleeding from the neck, she slowly nodded. I-I-I was just looking around for sea critters and he just came out of nowhere and tried to kill me. She said, trying so hard not to cry.

Dagon lifted her up with his arms, Hey, Hey, calm down. It's going to be alright.

I tried to find you, but he backed me up in a corner. I can't believe I couldn't defend myself.

He is a skillful fighter and a dirty one as well. Just be lucky you managed to escape with just a neck wound. He said, holding her close in his arms. Though we really need to work on your fighting skills

She scolded,...Dagon….

I'm joking. I'm joking. He said, before swimming off towards her home. Come now, let's get back to your cave so I can seal up that wound of yours.

She looked up at his shredded gills, they were bleeding heavily and by the way he was wincing every time he breathed, he was in a lot of pain. Forget about me, we need to get you to the surface, you can't swim with injured gills.

I have the right side to keep me going and the pain means nothing to me. Let's just get you back home where you're safe, alright. He said, swimming as fast as he could, but at the same time, being careful with her. Still... his movements were making him bleed heavier.

Dagon...

Just rest, Na Kika.

She didn't bother to argue, she was too tired and hurt to do it, so she let him win this fight for now. Resting her head against his chest, she could feel his gentle heartbeat and blushed. What's going to happen now with Apollo?

I'll have a word with Shri, maybe she can get him to stop being a Prick because I would hate to have to kill Cybele's only Heir due to his ignorance.

Would you? She asked.

He thought about it, conflicted. I value Cybele. She knows males fight, that's males for you, but she doesn't believe in killing your own kind.

She stayed silent for a moment before speaking again. Are you going back to the Pack after dropping me off?

Don't be silly, Na Kika, you're hurt. After all the times you treated my wounds, do you really think I'm just going to dump you off like yesterday's carcass. Give me some credit here, geez.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend you. Please forgive me.

No need to apologize. I'm probably going to stay away for a bit to let things with Apollo cool down. Clearly he's still in a pissy mood. It's Cybele's duty to handle it, not me.

That would be nice. It's been awhile since we spent some time together. She said, sadly. Plus, it will be easier for me to sleep knowing you're around...

Dagon smiled and looked down at her. Well, if you want, since I have some free time, maybe we can travel somewhere for a bit. You know, go explore like you used to do when you were younger. After getting some rest of course.

She looked at him, Are you sure you're not using this as a way to run?

He rolled his eyes, No, I just think a little getaway to clear our heads is something we both need, plus a nice way to make you feel safe till all this dies down.

The thought of the two of them traveling together did feel nice, she thought. Plus, she hasn't gone anywhere since calling this place her new home and that was decades, nearly a century ago now. What's the harm? Especially now when she doesn't feel safe after that ambush by Dagon's Foster brother.

It will be fun. Dagon teased, hoping she would say yes.

She sighed, Alright, where do you have in mind?...
