Chapter 35: Endgame
Renato, Neon, Alexa, Minato, Chiho, and their Sekirei gathered in the living room of the inn, intrigued by the unfolding events. According to Kochou and Matsu, the notorious Minaka had issued a challenge to the three Rooks. Although they found it amusing, considering it was Minaka, they knew such audacity was to be expected from him.
In response, Neon promptly switched on the TV, not needing to change channels to find Minaka's speech. It appeared that the megalomaniac had taken control of all television stations for this grand announcement.
"Greetings, people of Shinto Teito!" Minaka's voice resonated loudly through the room. "And greetings, my esteemed Ashikabi and Sekirei! I am delighted to declare that the third stage of the Sekirei Plan is nearing its completion, and the impending climax of this phase promises to be an event for the ages!"
As the image of Minaka appeared on the screen, Homura scowled in disdain. "Minaka..." he muttered with a hint of annoyance. "I wonder what that man has planned now."
Tsukiumi chimed in, her voice filled with skepticism. "Whatever it is, it's clearly nothing good. That man knows no bounds."
Karasuba, known for her deadpan humor, couldn't help but interject. "Thanks for clarifying the obvious, Tsukiumi. Your insight is truly enlightening."
Meanwhile, the Rooks remained silent, their eyes fixed on the screen, awaiting Minaka's next words.
In a booming voice, Minaka announced, "The last event of the third stage is one that will involve all of you. Each and every Ashikabi and Sekirei will partake in this momentous event! Beginning tomorrow morning, your task will be to locate and eliminate these individuals from the game!" As he spoke, an image of Neon, Alexa, and Renato, accompanied by their Sekirei, appeared on the left-hand corner of the screen.
Minaka continued, his tone brimming with excitement, "Anyone who can defeat even one of these formidable opponents will be granted freedom! That's right, if you can triumph over Renato Agba, Neon Cross, or Alexa Lin, along with their Sekirei, you will no longer be bound by this game. You and your Sekirei will be granted a life of comfort and freedom for all your remaining days!"
Homura's furious snarl sent shivers down the spines of those around him, his intense anger emanating like scorching heat. Smoke billowed from his shoulders, a clear indication of his volatile state. However, just as he was about to unleash his fiery wrath, Alexa gently placed a hand on his seething shoulders, giving him a look that immediately halted his impending explosion.
"Save your rage for later, Homura," Alexa advised, her voice calm yet commanding. "We can't afford to have you burn yourself out prematurely."
Homura face faulted at Alexa's remark, much to the amusement of Kazehana, Train, and Tsukiumi, who couldn't help but chuckle at his expense.
"Insane people tend to have bigger balls than others," Neon remarked casually, earning a nod of agreement from Uzume.
Musubi/Yume, wearing a pained expression, spoke up with a touch of sadness in her voice. "But sending others to their deaths... that's just..."
"It's Minaka," Homura interrupted, his tone filled with resignation. "What did you expect? This man knows no limits."
Minaka's voice echoed through the room, undeterred by any interruptions. "For the three Rooks," he declared, his words carrying an air of finality, "if you can make it to Kamikura Island by noon tomorrow, you will have successfully completed the third stage and will advance to the fourth and final stage of the Sekirei Plan!" His grin stretched across his face, splitting it in half, while his black glasses obscured his eyes, radiating a menacing glint that mirrored the depths of his madness. "Good luck to you three! You're going to need it!"
With a suddenness that matched his initial appearance, Minaka vanished from the screen, leaving the station to return to its previous programming. The room fell into a heavy silence as everyone's attention turned to the three Rooks.
Miya, her voice calm but laced with concern, broke the silence."What shall we do, my dear?"Her question hung in the air, evoking anticipation from the others who shared the same pressing inquiry.
Renato, Alexa, and Neon exchanged confident grins with the others in the room, displaying their determination and unity.
"Clearly, we're going to conquer this stage and make our way to Kamikura Island," Alexa proclaimed, a mischievous grin on her face.
Neon's fist met his palm with a resounding thud, his voice filled with unwavering resolve. "And once we're there, we're going to dismantle the Sekirei Plan, bringing Minaka and Aiko down with it!"
Renato nodded in agreement, his own grin reflecting their shared defiance. "However, we won't be bound by their rules. We'll be playing by our own, starting with how we reach that island."
Kochou, displaying her usual calm demeanor, chimed in. "And you possess the perfect means to reach your destination."
Renato's eyes sparkled with anticipation. "Indeed," he replied, his voice filled with confidence and a hint of mystery, setting the stage for the Rooks' bold and strategic approach to the upcoming challenges.
Next day…
Outside the inn, the entire group had gathered, prepared for their journey to the ultimate showdown, carrying only their clothes and chosen weapons.
Minato expressed his concern, unable to hide his worry. "Are you sure you don't want our help? Everyone will be after you."
Chiho chimed in, echoing Minato's sentiments. "We genuinely want to assist you all. It's going to be dangerous out there."
Appreciating their offer, Alexa politely declined. "Thank you for offering, but we'd rather not involve you and your Sekirei in this. We don't want Miya or your mother to be upset with us."
Neon nodded in agreement, fully aware of Miya's protective nature and Takami's potential reaction. "As much as I enjoy a good fight, I'd rather not face the wrath of Miya or your mother. Trust me, I already get enough flack from her."
Renato, brimming with confidence, assured them, "Besides, I have a plan in mind that will ensure zero casualties."
Tsukiumi spoke respectfully, showing her trust. "We will place our trust in you, then."
Kusano, feeling left out, pouted and expressed her desire to help. "Mou! I want to help my big brothers and sisters."
Alexa crouched down to Kusano's level, offering reassurance. "I understand, and you are helping by staying safe. We'll take care of the bad people."
Renato focused for a moment before opening his hand, summoning a large, shadowy portal. "Everyone, step right in. We have a finale to reach and two lunatics to deal with."
With determination in their eyes, the group stepped through the portal, ready to face the challenges ahead and bring an end to the madness orchestrated by Minaka and Aiko.
…
Coming out of the portal, the group of Ashikabi and Sekirei finally set foot on their destination: Kamikura Island. As they stepped onto the barren rock, it became apparent that the island resembled a giant ball of desolate terrain. Renato walked along the surface, observing the rocky desert landscape that seemed devoid of life. The scarcity of flora surprised him, with only a few struggling plants clinging to existence like withered husks.
Alexa took in the surroundings, noting the inhospitable nature of the place. "So, this is where most of the Sekirei were born, huh? Doesn't look like a very pleasant place to grow up," she commented.
Renato agreed, "I can't imagine anyone who would grow up in a place like this."
Miya and the others joined them, walking by their side and scanning the surroundings. Neon interjected, providing some insight, "Actually, most of the Sekirei weren't born on this island. Only the first two dozen or so were birthed here, and I personally trained the first ten of them. The rest of the eggs were taken to MBI's labs in Shinto Teito once Minaka established his company."
"That's interesting," Alexa remarked, gathering everyone's attention.
As they gathered and wondered about their next move, Alexa's question was answered when a large floating sign with a bright green arrow appeared above a tall hill. The absurdity of the sign caused her to exclaim in disbelief, with Train and Homura sharing her reaction.
Neon, having experienced Minaka's antics before, stated, "I've learned not to question that lunatic's actions a long time ago," while his Sekirei simply shrugged at the sight.
Renato, observing the sign, muttered, "Not very subtle, is he?" He then sighed and said, "Alright, let's follow the signs and get this clown show on the road."
The large group ventured through the deserted island, guided by the obnoxious signs, until they reached a narrow ravine. As they continued their journey, Neon, Miya, Matsu, Kazehana, and Karasuba shared their memories of the island, both the good and the bad moments they had experienced.
Turning a corner, the group was met with an unnatural sight amidst the barren landscape. A massive metal structure, resembling a giant bulb, stood before them. Its aged frame rusted and weathered by centuries of salt exposure; the vessel gleamed dimly in the sunlight. Renato, Alexa, and Neon could discern the marks of wear and tear, evidence of past crashes, boulder impacts, and countless scratches that covered its surface like lacerations. Half-buried in the island, the sight reminded them of a metallic corpse.
Curiosity piqued, Renato asked, "So, this is the spaceship you arrived in?"
Miya answered on behalf of all of them, "Yes, we came to Earth on this vessel."
"Well, it's clear that it has seen better days," Neon remarked, having seen it before. It was a new sight for Alexa and Renato. "Let's go inside. The ship is open, practically inviting us to enter. Although a red carpet would have been a nice touch." His comment elicited giggles and chuckles from the group.
Upon entering the ship, Alexa quickly realized that it was running on minimal power. The darkness enveloped everything, but Neon and Renato could still see clearly. However, the darkness dissipated within seconds as lights flickered to life, illuminating the path before them. The hallway curved on both sides, seemingly circling the entire ship.
Suddenly, Minaka's obnoxious voice resounded through the ship's embedded speakers. "Hello, everyone!" he greeted. "I'm pleased to see you've made it. Not that I expected any less from the only earthbound gods left on this planet. However, you've arrived earlier than I anticipated."
Homura, glaring at nothing, muttered, "Too bad we evaded his scheme of sending every Ashikabi after us."
Minaka continued, revealing the rules of the game. He mentioned three portals ahead, each designated for one of the trio. The portals led to linked rooms with trials. The first trial could be taken by the Ashikabi and their Sekirei or just the Sekirei alone. The second trial had to be undertaken by the Ashikabi and one of their Sekirei, while the final trial awaited them in the center, accessible only by the three of them. They needed to bring the jinki to the center. Minaka concluded his message with a maniacal laugh.
Neon grumbled in annoyance, "Annoying as usual."
Alexa contemplated their options. "Knowing Minaka and maybe Aiko too, they've likely planned for the possibility of us all traveling to the central portal."
Miya chimed in, "I don't believe he is on this ship. Most likely, he set up these portals to manipulate us into doing what he wants in order to reach him. He and that woman are probably on Kouten, waiting for you three to show up."
"Damn that Minaka!" Homura growled. "This is why I hate that bastard."
"Join the club," Yahan added, crossing her arms with a frown.
Neon's fists ignited with black flames as determination filled his voice. "It doesn't matter what schemes he has planned; we'll crush them!"
Renato, placing a hand on one of his swords, affirmed, "We'll play along, but in the end, it won't matter what plans he's conceived."
"Right!" Alexa and the others exclaimed with conviction, ready to face the challenges ahead.
…
"I don't like this place," Yashima stated, her voice filled with unease. Admitting her fear was difficult, but she found solace in the presence of her Ashikabi and fellow sisters, which helped keep her from completely freaking out. She knew she had to be strong.
"I feel the same way, but we can't let that affect us," Ikki reassured her.
Akitsu chimed in, "Ah…we can't let them get to us."
Renato, noticing two silhouettes in the room they had arrived in, alerted everyone to stay on guard. However, as the figures stepped into the light, disbelief washed over their faces, quickly followed by laughter.
"Are they serious? You two?!" Renato exclaimed, recognizing the resurrected 'siblings' Jubril and Toro in front of him and his Himes. "Even with the power you've been given, I can't be bothered to take you seriously."
"Oh, shut it, Farouk!" Toro retorted with annoyance evident in her voice.
"It's not like we expected this," Jubril added, "But I'll admit that the chance to get revenge is a plus."
Renato deadpanned, "That depends on whether I can be bothered to even fight you pathetic clowns." He then motioned to Yahan and said, "Shall we go on ahead, Yahan? The others can have fun with them."
"Indeed, Renato. Continue on with Yahan and not waste any more energy on them. We can handle this." Miya assured him.
"You go on ahead, we've got this covered," Kochou stated, adjusting her glasses with a determined expression.
Ikki drew out her wakizashis and nodded in agreement. A cold, icy aura materialized around a confident Akitsu, while Yashima smirked and hefted her hammer over her shoulder, giving a thumbs up to her Ashikabi.
"Tch...don't get arrogant. You have no idea what you're getting into," Toro warned, attempting to undermine their confidence.
"We actually do, so be quiet, you insects," Akitsu coldly retorted, her usual tick absent as she channeled Renato's demeanor. "Please go on ahead, Renato-sama. These two will be dealt with."
Renato nodded, acknowledging their capabilities, and he and Yahan continued walking toward the door that led to the next portal for the second trial. Jubril, unable to accept being written off, attempted to blindside them. However, his world suddenly spun, and he found himself falling to the cold floor, his head detached from his body and blood gushing from the top.
"Ara? So impatient." Miya said as she casually flicked the blood off her obsidian black katana.
Ikki calmly walked toward Jubril's head and disdainfully remarked, "Pathetic. Even I saw that coming." Yashima then delivered a decisive blow with her hammer, ensuring that the lights went out for Jubril once and for all.
…
Neon and the fourth Disciplinary squad arrived for their first trial, only to be confronted by three individuals who filled Neon with disgust and anger. These were the terrorist leaders who had played a significant role in shaping Neon's path and had caused the death of his family.
As soon as his Sekirei recognized the trio, they too were filled with fury. The memories of the pain and suffering inflicted by these terrorists on their ashikabi resurfaced, intensifying their desire for revenge.
The resurrected terrorists, on the other hand, were filled with terror at the sight of Neon, forgetting they'd been even enhanced to begin with. They knew firsthand the extent of his vengeance and the bloodshed he had unleashed upon them, and they did not want to go through that again.
Ignoring their cries and pleas, Neon's voice turned cold as he issued a simple command, "Eliminate them. And make sure it hurts, a lot."
Without hesitation, Karasuba, Kazehana, and Kaho swiftly descended upon the terrified targets, unleashing their fury, and ruthlessly massacring them. Neon watched on; his expression devoid of any emotion as justice was served… again.
…
Alexa, Homura, and Train cautiously entered their trial room, adopting a strategic formation akin to a special operations team. They were determined not to leave any vulnerabilities that could be exploited by their opponents. Homura stood at the back, his flame power ready to counter any threats, while Alexa and Train held her desert eagle and his revolver respectfully, prepared to neutralize targets with swift precision.
The trio's attention was immediately drawn to four lifeless bodies positioned in the center of the trial room. Intrigued, they cautiously approached the bodies to investigate.
"What are those doing there?" Train questioned, his confusion evident.
"Who knows? It's probably one of Minaka's twisted schemes or Aiko's attempt at psychological manipulation," Homura speculated, his voice filled with cynicism.
Meanwhile, Alexa, undeterred by the burnt corpses, focused her attention on an object located a few feet away. Curiosity compelled her to move closer and examine it.
"Seriously? After all the hype from Minaka, we're greeted with nothing but charred corpses. Pathetic," Train grumbled, expressing his disappointment.
"That's just Minaka for you. No need to expect anything more," Homura deadpanned, his voice devoid of any amusement or surprise.
Alexa picked up the object, realizing it was a camcorder with a note taped to it specifically addressed to her. With a mix of curiosity and apprehension, she pressed play to see what was recorded. As the footage played, her initial intrigue quickly turned into horror and despair, causing her to fall to her knees in distress.
"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" she cried out, her voice filled with anguish. "This can't be true! Please, tell me it's not real!" The weight of the revelation crushed her, and she struggled to comprehend the devastating truth.
Sensing Alexa's despair, Homura and Train immediately rushed to her side, their concern evident. Homura embraced her tightly, attempting to soothe her trembling form. "We're here for you, Alexa. Stay with us. We'll get through this together."
Train, wanting to understand the cause of Alexa's anguish, took the camcorder from her and watched the recording. His eyes widened in shock, his initial surprise giving way to simmering anger as he witnessed the events depicted. He paused the video, his expression filled with fury. "Damn those monsters!" he exclaimed, his voice laced with anger and determination.
Curious about Train's reaction, Homura inquired, "What is it? What did you see?"
Fueled by righteous rage, Train explained, "Those two maniacs brought back Alexa's old squad to fight us! It seems that even Aiko's programming couldn't make them betray their former leader, so they chose to sacrifice themselves, blowing up to spare Alexa from that pain."
Homura's initial shock mirrored Train's, but he quickly suppressed his anger to focus on comforting Alexa. "They were loyal until the end. They deserve our respect," he acknowledged, his voice tinged with a mixture of sadness and admiration.
Train nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. They fought for their leader, and we won't let their sacrifice be in vain."
"I-I... indeed," Alexa managed to say, her voice still tinged with sorrow, as she slowly rose with Homura's supportive assistance. Gathering herself, she performed a heartfelt prayer for her fallen comrades. "Rest in peace, my friends. I will carry your memory with me always."
In that moment, she heard familiar voices echoing in her mind, words of encouragement from Sergio Vergas, Amanda Markov, and Edward Newman, her former subordinates. Their spirits seemed to manifest before her, cheering her on. With a renewed determination, Alexa wiped away her tears, her expression transforming into a serene resolve.
"Thank you," she whispered, acknowledging the support from her departed team members. A calm confidence washed over her, and her gaze sharpened with determination.
"Congratulations to those two. They've sealed their fate," Alexa declared, her voice steady and resolute. "Homura, you're coming with me. Train, hold down the fort here."
Homura nodded, a glimmer of pride in his eyes as he affirmed, "I've got your back, Alexa. Together, we'll overcome this."
Train's smirk widened, relieved to see his ashikabi regaining her composure. "I've got it covered, mam," he responded with a newfound assurance. He was ready to stand firm and protect their position while Alexa and Homura ventured forward.
…
Renato and Yahan stepped into the second trial room, a serene and spacious wooden dojo that exuded a sense of tranquility. Despite feeling tempted to relax in this peaceful environment, both of them understood the gravity of the situation. As they entered, their attention was immediately drawn to a figure sitting at the center of the dojo, dressed in a white leather body suit under a black hooded jacket, and adorned with black gloves and boots. The person had a katana and wakizashi sheathed at their waist, displaying a lightning emblem that Renato recognized.
"To think we would meet again like this, after our parting, my little dragon," a mature female voice greeted them with a tinge of sadness. "I apologize."
Renato let out a sigh and replied, "Same here, Lady Vera. So, Aiko got to you too?"
"Unfortunately, with a parting gift after I took care of her the first time," Lady Vera revealed, removing her hood to reveal a silver-haired woman with a beautiful yet pale and scarred face. "And now, as the ultimate insult, she brings me back to life in an attempt to mess with you mentally." She then smirked at Renato's composed demeanor. "But judging by your composure and the presence of your companion, I have nothing to worry about."
Renato bowed respectfully, acknowledging her words. "Yes, Lady Vera."
"It is an honor to meet the woman who shaped my ashikabi into the man he is today," Yahan respectfully greeted Lady Vera, having seen and heard Renato's memories.
Vera replied, "Likewise, and once again I wish it were under better circumstances. I can see how important you are to my little dragon, and I am glad for that. Make sure to stand by his side."
"Obviously." Yahan responded with a mixture of happiness and sadness, reining in her rage towards Aiko for the trial at hand.
"We all know what comes next, Lady Vera. There's no need for further words," Renato stated, drawing his swords, Master's Pride, while Yahan drew out her daggers, one of them being the black serrated one gifted to her by her ashikabi.
"True, my little dragon," Vera agreed, rising to her feet, and unsheathing her own katana. "Surpass me once again, claim your prize, and even more for the grand finale."
…
Gunshots echoed throughout the room as a tall, disheveled man with unkempt blond hair and beard desperately dodged the incoming bullets. It was evident that Alexa was in a state of extreme anger and had initiated the onslaught the moment she laid eyes on him.
"Oh, come on! Are you still holding a grudge over that incident years ago?!" the man shouted while evading the relentless attacks.
"You sold me out years ago Arnie! You ruined my career and forced me to hide as a fugitive in Roanapur of all places!" Alexa angrily retorted.
"I didn't have much of a choice, Alex!" the man pleaded.
"You had a choice, you bloody traitor! And you chose betrayal! So, for the love of God, just stand there and die already! Again!" Alexa's fury intensified, her relentless pursuit unwavering.
Homura could only sweat drop at the absurdity of the situation, recognizing the gravity of the true circumstances at hand.
"Hey, you! Homura! Aren't you going to do something?!" the unfortunate target yelled desperately.
"Why should I, Arnie? I'm your enemy too," Homura deadpanned, his tone devoid of any sympathy. "I should be roasting your sorry behind as well, but she wants to personally deal with you."
"Oh, you suck!" Arnie lamented, continuing to evade the bullets until he heard the sound of clicking. "Ha! You're out of bullets now. Can we just... oh crap!" His focus shifted abruptly as he narrowly avoided losing his head to a swift sword slice.
"Stop trying to delay the inevitable!" Alexa's voice boomed as she relentlessly pursued Arnie with her weapon, Severance, in hand.
Homura could only let out a sigh, resigned to the absurdity of the slapstick-like situation unfolding before him.
…
"To think I'd be fighting you of all people, not to mention having our rematch here, Boss Red," Neon stated, his gaze fixed on his opponent, Karasuba's counterpart. The man stood slightly taller than Neon and was one of the few individuals who had trained him to become the formidable fighter he was today.
"Sorry for this reunion, kid. I wish it was under more appropriate circumstances," Boss Red replied, his tone tinged with regret.
"You can blame that crazy bitch Aiko for that," Karasuba interjected. "It's an honor to meet the one who made my ashikabi the badass he is."
Boss Red chuckled at her remark. "Thanks, but I just taught him how to fight properly and made sure he didn't become an arrogant ass."
"Which I am thankful for," Neon affirmed.
"I know you are," Boss Red acknowledged, before turning his attention to Karasuba. "I assume you're one of my godson's lovers."
"Godfather?!" Karasuba exclaimed, taken aback by the revelation.
"Yes, I am. He never told you that?" Boss Red inquired.
"She never asked," Neon deadpanned.
"Indeed, I didn't," Karasuba sighed.
Boss Red laughed heartily. "Oh, that's definitely Neon for you. Anyways, Karasuba, could you do me a favor and watch out for him? He may be the powerhouse he is, but he still needs someone to have his back."
"You have nothing to worry about then," Karasuba answered confidently, her katana resting on her shoulders. "I'll always have his back."
Boss Red smirked in response and cracked his knuckles. "That's what I want to hear. Now then..." He assumed a fighting stance, and Neon and Karasuba followed suit. "Show me what you can do! If you can defeat me here, then you'll be able to put an end to that crazy bitch's schemes."
"No problem," Neon acknowledged, his determination unwavering. "Kara-chan?"
"I'm with you, Neon," Karasuba affirmed.
With their resolve steeled, the three warriors charged forward, ready to engage in battle.
…
After a brief and one-sided confrontation, Alexa, and Homura easily overpowered Arnie, leaving him defeated and unable to offer any resistance. With a defeated expression on his face, Arnie finally mustered the strength to speak his final words.
"Bloody hell... I... I'm sorry," Arnie managed to utter, his voice filled with regret and remorse. "I know... I can never make up for what I've done... the lives I've ruined... including yours, Alexa."
Alexa's gaze softened slightly, her anger momentarily giving way to a tinge of sympathy. She understood that Arnie was a pawn, manipulated by forces beyond his control. Despite the pain and suffering he had caused her, she couldn't help but feel a sense of compassion for the broken man before her.
"It's much too late for apologies, Arnie," Alexa responded, her voice tinged with a mix of disappointment and resignation. "But maybe, in your final moments, you can find some semblance of redemption."
Arnie's eyes welled up with tears, regret etched deeply in his features. He mustered the strength to continue, his voice barely above a whisper. "I was... a fool... to believe... in their promises... their lies. I... I never wanted... any of this... the bloodshed... the pain. Please... find it in your heart... to forgive me."
Homura, who had been observing the interaction, stepped forward, his expression stern but compassionate. "Arnie, your actions screwed a lot of people over. While forgiveness may be difficult, I believe in the power of redemption. Use your final moments to reflect on the choices you've made and the lives you've affected."
As Arnie's life began to fade away, his voice barely audible, he mustered his last breath. "I... I hope... that one day... you can find... peace. Please... stop... this madness."
With those final words, Arnie's eyes closed, his body going limp and then disintegrating into light particles which surround Alexa before they're absorbed into her. As the particles of light dissipated, Alexa took a deep breath, reveling in the newfound energy coursing through her. She felt a sense of liberation, as if a chapter of her life had finally reached its resolution.
"Are you alright Alexa? You were really intense there." Homura asked.
"I'm fine. I just never thought I would see the day when I could put the past behind me," Alexa said, her voice filled with determination. "Arnie's final moments served as a reminder of the choices we make and the consequences they bear."
"That's interesting to say the least." Homura stated.
"Yes, in fact, I feel stronger now. It's as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders." Alexa said as she flexed her arms a bit.
"And with that trial number 2's over. Now all that's left is Aiko and Minaka or should I say just Aiko." Homura stated.
"Doesn't matter who I meet at the finale. It'll end the same way with me, Neon and Renato victorious and back with you all." Alexa said.
"Please make sure of that." Homura said, "While we haven't been together as long as Renato and Neon have with their sekirei it's been great and empowering for me and if anything happened to you it'll be too devastating for me." Homura found himself in a tight hug from Alexa.
"Do not worry about me. I'll make sure we'll come out of this on top. Even if I have to use my most desperate gameplans to do so." Alexa said. She then took off her and her fallen comrades' dog tags from around her neck and gave them to Homura. "Before I go in for the finale, hold on to this."
Homura looked down at the dog tags in his hand, a mixture of confusion and concern in his eyes. He couldn't fully grasp the meaning behind Alexa's gesture, but he trusted her intuition and knew there was a deeper significance to it.
"Alright, Alexa. I'll hold onto these," Homura replied, his voice filled with determination. "I'll keep them safe until you return victorious."
Alexa's smile widened, appreciating Homura's unwavering support. "Thank you, Homura. I know I can count on you."
…
Renato and Yahan stood with their weapons drawn and ready for the imminent battle against Lady Vera, Renato's former teacher. The atmosphere was tense as they faced off, a mixture of respect and determination shining in their eyes.
Lady Vera gripped her katana with a fierce determination, fully aware of the challenge before her while her wakizashi stayed sheathed. Renato tightened his grip on Master's Pride, his twin swords that had been passed down to him, while Yahan held her daggers firmly, her posture emanating grace and readiness.
The clash of steel resonated through the dojo as the fight commenced.
The battle was intense and fast-paced, filled with lightning-fast strikes and strategic maneuvers. Lady Vera showcased her expertise, using her experience to anticipate Renato and Yahan's moves, often narrowly dodging their strikes. Renato relied on his agility and quick reflexes, unleashing powerful slashes while Yahan utilized her speed, precision, and fluid movements to keep their opponent on her toes.
There were moments of close calls, where Lady Vera's strikes narrowly missed their marks and Renato and Yahan had to rely on their quick thinking to evade harm. The clash of their blades echoed through the room, the sound punctuated by grunts of exertion and the occasional clash of sparks.
Renato's determination never wavered, his focus and resolve shining through as he relentlessly pressed the attack. Yahan complemented his moves seamlessly, their bond evident in their coordinated strikes and defensive maneuvers.
Lady Vera, impressed by their skill and growth, pushed herself to the limit, showcasing her formidable technique and even drew out her wakizashi and began dual wielding which escalated the battle even further as her attacks became even more furious and dangerous.
The fight reached its climax as Renato and Yahan unleashed a synchronized assault, their combined strength and unwavering spirit gradually overwhelming their opponent who still held their ground.
With a final strike, Renato and Yahan managed to land a decisive blow, disarming, and cutting through Lady Vera and bringing her to her knees. It was a hard-fought victory, a culmination of their training and determination. Exhausted but triumphant, they stood over the fallen sword mistress and teacher, a mixture of respect and gratitude in their eyes. Though it was more impactful for Renato as he had to defeat his master again in a more difficult battle and also to free her soul from Aiko's treacherous grip.
Lady Vera, a smile playing on her lips, fell on her back and looked up at Renato and Yahan. "You have surpassed me again, my little dragon," she said with genuine pride. "You have further proven that I was right in training you. Once again I am honored to have been your teacher."
Renato bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Lady Vera," Renato said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Your guidance and teachings have shaped me into who I am today. I will continue to honor the skills you have bestowed upon me."
Lady Vela smiled and looked at Yahan, "Once again Yahan, please be his rock and support. Farouk may hide them well it but even he needs someone to keep him from losing himself."
Lady Vela's words resonated with Yahan as she looked at Renato, her eyes filled with unwavering support. She understood the weight of the responsibility placed upon her shoulders and embraced her role as his rock and support. She had been there for him in the past, and she would continue to be there for him in the future.
"It goes without saying," Yahan replied, her voice filled with determination. "I will be by his side, supporting him and guiding him whenever he needs me. Together, we will overcome any obstacles that come our way."
Lady Vela smiled, a sense of satisfaction evident on her face. She knew that Renato had a strong support system surrounding him, individuals who understood him deeply and would do whatever it took to keep him grounded. With Yahan's assurance, she knew that Renato would have the strength and stability he needed to stay true to himself. "As a final reward for passing this trial, my Raijin daisho is yours my little dragon. Wield it well and cut through any obstacle foolish enough to cross you." Lady Vela said one last time.
Closing her eyes, Lady Vela took a deep breath, her presence fading into a cascade of light particles. The particles swirled around Renato, their energy merging with his own. Renato stood tall, feeling a surge of power coursing through his veins. It was as if a missing piece of him had finally been filled, completing him in a way he had never experienced before.
Renato took a moment to relish in the newfound energy and strength within him. He felt the weight of Lady Vela's trust and the legacy of the Raijin daisho, a set of weapons passed down to him by her. With this newfound power, he knew he had the means to cut through any obstacles that dared to stand in his way.
A solemn atmosphere filled the air as Renato stood with Yahan, both understanding the magnitude of what lay ahead.
Renato reached out and gently took Yahan's hand in his, offering her a reassuring smile. "Yahan, thank you for being by my side throughout this insanity. Your unwavering support and guidance have meant everything to me."
Yahan squeezed Renato's hand, her gaze filled with unwavering determination. "Renato-sama, you have grown so much since we first met. I am proud to have been a part of your life and witness the strength and compassion that reside within you."
Renato's voice softened with gratitude as he continued, "Yahan, your presence has been my anchor, keeping me grounded and reminding me of the importance of protecting and cherishing those we love. I couldn't have come this far without you."
Yahan's expression held a mix of joy and embarrassment as she spoke, her voice filled with unwavering support, "Remember, Renato, you are not alone in this. We are all here with you, supporting you every step of the way. You carry the hopes and dreams of not only your Sekirei, but also of all those who believe in a better future."
Renato nodded, his gaze reflecting a newfound resolve. "I will give everything I have to ensure that their hopes and dreams are not in vain. We will put an end to Aiko's schemes and bring an end to this Sekirei Plan."
Yahan's eyes shimmered with a mix of pride and determination. "I believe in you, Renato. I believe in the strength of your heart and the power of your spirit."
With their hearts aligned and their determination unwavering, Renato and Yahan shared a moment of solidarity. Their bond fortified, they knew that they were prepared to face whatever challenges awaited them in the finale of the Sekirei Plan.
Renato took a deep breath, his gaze filled with determination. "It's time for me to go. I promise I will return."
Yahan nodded, her eyes shining with unwavering trust. "I will be here, waiting for your safe return. Take care of yourself, Renato-sama."
As they released each other's hands, Renato and Yahan shared a final glance filled with love, support, and unspoken promises. With renewed resolve, Renato turned and headed towards the path that would lead him to the finale, knowing that Yahan and his himes would be waiting for his triumphant return.
…
Tension filled the air as Neon and Karasuba prepared to face off against Boss Red. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation, knowing that this would be a battle unlike any other they had faced before.
Boss Red stood tall, his imposing figure radiating a sense of experience and power. He looked at Neon with a mix of pride and seriousness, acknowledging the growth and strength his godson had attained. Karasuba, her katana at the ready, exuded a deadly aura, her eyes fixed on their opponent.
Without wasting a moment, Boss Red made the first move, his movements swift and calculated. He lunged forward with lightning speed, aiming to catch Neon off guard. Neon's instincts kicked in, allowing him to dodge Boss Red's initial strike, narrowly avoiding the blow.
Karasuba, ever the warrior, swiftly countered with her own attack, her blade slicing through the air with deadly precision. Boss Red, showing his mastery in combat, quickly drew out a butterfly sword and skillfully parried her strike, his movements fluid and calculated.
Neon, capitalizing on the distraction, launched his own assault, combining his dark flame-infused punches with swift kicks. His attacks landed with precision, but Boss Red's experience and resilience allowed him to withstand the onslaught, his body enduring blow after blow while firing back with counters of his own. Karasuba not leaving anything to chance attacked Red furiously.
As the battle raged on, each participant pushed their limits, testing their skills and resolve. Neon tapped into the depths of his power, his body pulsating with raw negative energy, while Karasuba unleashed her deadly techniques with unparalleled precision and speed.
Boss Red, recognizing the formidable force before him, upped the ante drawing out his other butterfly sword and fought with unwavering determination, countering their every move with calculated precision. The clash of blades and the blast of fire filled the room as the battle intensified.
The fight waged on, each moment becoming more intense and grueling. Neon's body bore the scars of the battle, yet his determination remained unwavering. Karasuba, fueled by her unyielding loyalty to Neon, fought with a ferocity that surpassed her usual temperament.
In a final surge of strength, Neon and Karasuba unleashed their most powerful techniques, Neon unleashing a powerful strike with explosive force and Karasuba unleashing an energy wave slash, with their combined force shaking the very foundations of the room. The impact from these attacks sent Boss Red reeling, his defenses weakening under the relentless assault, but he still held his own.
With one final strike, Neon and Karasuba delivered a decisive blow, their combined power finally overwhelming Boss Red. As he fell to the ground, exhaustion etched across his face, a mix of pride and respect shone in his eyes.
Boss Red, despite his defeat, wore a small smile. He had witnessed Neon's growth firsthand and was proud to see him become the warrior he was meant to be. With a nod of approval, Boss Red acknowledged their victory.
Breathing heavily, Neon and Karasuba stood triumphant, their bodies battered but their spirits unbroken. They had emerged victorious, their bond as Ashikabi and Sekirei stronger than ever. Neon approached the fallen form of his godfather, Boss Red. Sweat dripped from his brow, mixing with the dirt and blood that adorned his face, showcasing the hard-fought victory he had just achieved alongside Karasuba.
Neon's eyes met Boss Red's, a mixture of emotions swirling within him—pride, respect, and a tinge of sadness as he knelt beside his godfather who grabbed his hand.
"Boss Red," Neon began, his voice filled with a mix of gratitude and admiration. "I never thought we'd have our rematch like this, but I am grateful for everything you've done for me."
Boss Red, his tired eyes meeting Neon's, managed a small smile. "You've definitely grown since that last fight into a formidable warrior, Neon. I couldn't be prouder of the man you've become."
Neon's grip tightened around his godfather's hand as he continued, "You taught me more than just how to fight, Boss Red. You taught me the importance of loyalty, honor, and never backing down from a challenge."
Boss Red nodded, his expression reflecting a mixture of satisfaction and a touch of melancholy. "Ha! I always knew you had it in you, Neon. You possess a strength and determination that surpasses even your dad, my partner in the good old days. You were definitely meant for greatness."
Neon's voice wavered slightly as he spoke his next words, "I'm sorry for the headache I caused when I left UNWOP. I had to make my own way. But please know that I've carried your teachings with me every step of the way."
Boss Red's weary hand reached out, gently placing it on Neon's shoulder. "There is no need for apologies. You followed your own path, just as I did before you. It was the only way you could find your true strength."
A sense of closure and understanding enveloped Neon, and a feeling of warmth spread through his being. In that moment, he realized the significance of their reunion and the impact it had on his journey.
"You'll always be my godfather," Neon said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you for believing in me, for guiding me, and for this final test that helped shape me into who I am today."
Boss Red's tired eyes met Neon's, a flicker of pride shining through the fatigue. "You've surpassed all my expectations, my godson. Now go, face the challenges that lie ahead, and bring an end to the madness that plagues our world."
Boss Red's weary eyes shifted towards Karasuba, who stood nearby with a determined expression. He mustered the strength to speak, his voice carrying a mix of exhaustion and genuine fondness.
"Karasuba right?" Boss Red addressed her, his voice filled with a gruff yet warm tone. "Thanks for being by my godson's side through thick and thin, and being his rock, his unwavering support."
Karasuba's eyes met Boss Red's, a flicker of curiosity mixed with a tinge of respect. She remained silent, allowing him to continue.
"You are a definitely force to be reckoned with, Karasuba," Boss Red continued. "Your strength and unwavering determination are unmatched. Stay with Neon, remind him of his purpose, and never falter in your devotion to him."
A rare smile tugged at the corners of Karasuba's lips, an acknowledgment of the words spoken by his ashikabi's godfather. "Of course. No way am I going to abandon him. He's mine and I'm his. We belong to each other and anyone dumb enough to cross us will wish they didn't."
Boss Red coughed out some blood before clearing his throat. "That's good to hear. I have nothing to worry about. I can now leave with no regrets."
With that Boss Red went still and breathed his last, turning into a cascade of light particles. The particles swirled around Neon, their energy merging with his own and he basked in it with glee before unleashing a victory roar. After that he flexed his arms and cracked his knuckles.
"Your godfather was definitely worthy of respect. He's the second human I've even seen as more than a common ape. The first of course being you." Karasuba commented.
"I know. That's Boss Red for you. A man of action than talk. I'm glad to be who I am today, all thanks to him." Neon replied before he got serious and focused, "Now all that's left is Aiko as I doubt Minaka's in the world of the living. Either way it ends today."
"Agreed. Too bad I can't be there with you to put that bitch down for good." Karasuba said with a sulk.
"Don't worry I'll give her a good thrashing for you." Neon placated his sekirei, "Heck you never know you might get a chance to run her through yourself."
"Won't bet on that. Knowing you, you'd end that lunatic before even Renato and Alexa would." Karasuba deadpanned.
Neon chuckled at Karasuba's remark, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. He appreciated her straightforward nature and unwavering confidence in his abilities. "Well, I can't argue with that," Neon replied with a sly grin. "You know me too well, Karasuba. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's a final battle ahead, and Aiko won't go down without a fight."
Karasuba couldn't help but add one last remark with a hint of playfulness. "Just make sure you don't hog all the glory, Neon. Those two would be with you."
Neon chuckled again, the sound echoing through the air. "Don't worry, Karasuba. I'll save a few shining moments for them. Oh and one more thing hold on to this!"
He tossed an object at Karasuba which she caught, and she saw it was a ninjato with a red and black striped hilt.
"You want me to hold on to this?"
"Yes, it's an heirloom from my mother's side. It's important."
With that Neon went through the portal to the last trial leaving a confident but also slightly anxious Karasuba waiting for him.
…
The three 'Rooks' were greeted by Aiko when they stepped out of the portal. The woman stood in the middle of what they vaguely recognized as an arena, or perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a colosseum. The conical shape surrounding them on all sides, hemming them in like a giant blockade, made this place's purpose more than obvious.
"Well, hello there, you three. It's nice of you to finally show up." Aiko stated with a confident smirk on her face. "You don't know how long I have waited for this moment. Especially seeing how you three have become the formidable trio as I'd predicted you'll be."
"Where's Minaka?" Alexa asked, "Or better yet where's his corpse?"
"Oh how dare you! Accusing me of such a thing!" Aiko replied with feigned shock and anger.
"Save the theatrics for someone who cares Aiko. We know you've already disposed of him." Neon deadpanned.
Seeing no reason to continue the façade Aiko still with her confident smirk continued, "Okay, yes, Minaka's no longer a factor in the finale."
Neon then realized a certain detail from her words which Aiko already caught on and replied, "Your Sekirei have nothing to worry about for now as the kill switch on that lunatic is gone." Seeing the relief on Neon and Alexa she then interrupted, "But now I have inherited that kill switch instead! So your Sekirei are still royally screwed!"
"Which would explain why our Sekirei are still standing." Renato deadpanned, unfazed by the info.
"Of course you're not bothered. As expected of the almost anti-social Renato." Aiko pouted.
"I have friends and lovers so you're so way off." Renato countered, "Unlike you who have nobody but yourself. Right Mako Yashiro? Or should I say Witch of the Apocalypse?"
Mako's smirk widened, a glint of amusement in her eyes and her tone of voice changed. "Ah, always the observant one Renato Agba or should I say Mace."
"Finally revealing yourself huh? Why waste time with the theatrics then?" Alexa asked.
Mako shrugged, "Well Alexa or Rodrig, I wanted to continue with the mind fuckery, but oh well, it was fun while it lasted."
"So you can begin the next phase of your so cheesy and cliched Project Re-genesis." Neon deadpanned, "Couldn't you be original for once?! You're just like the numerous terrorists I've wiped off the face of the planet."
"Of course you'd say that Neon or Samara…nah, Neon makes more sense since you're a guy now." Mako replied, "I must admit, it's impressive how you three have grown. But let's not dwell on the past. It's time to settle our unfinished business once and for all."
Renato stepped forward, his new swords at the ready, his gaze unwavering. "You're right, Mako. It's time to put an end to this maddening eon long feud."
Alexa's divine aura flared, her resolve firm. "Indeed. You've caused enough pain and suffering, you accursed witch. We won't let you continue your twisted schemes."
Mako laughed, her amusement turning into something darker. "Oh, how noble of you all. But you're mistaken if you think you can defeat me this time. I possess powers beyond your imagination." Blue sparks of lightning surged through her getting Neon's attention.
"So it was you. You absorbed Ron!" Neon stated in suppressed rage.
Mako shrugged in amusement, "Well Aiko did it but since I'm her now and it was also part of my plans then, yes, I did it."
"Save your anger for the battle Neon. You'll be able to get even for Mr. Russell during the battle." Alexa said.
"You really think you stand a chance against us when you couldn't even beat our predecessors?" Renato asked.
Mako's expression turned serious. "Very well. If you're so eager to face your doom, then let the final battle begin."
"About time!" Neon said ready to make the first move.
Suddenly the three Rooks found themselves forced to the ground hard by an invisible force and the gravitational pressure came down on them making them unable to move.
Mako scoffed, her confidence unwavering. "As if! Do you really think I'd be foolish enough to engage all three of you at once? I've learned my lesson from battling your predecessors, and it's a shame you didn't anticipate this obvious trap, especially you, Alexa."
Alexa managed to sputter a response, her voice shaky. "T-This coming from someone acting like a clichéd villainess!"
Mako countered with a smirk, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Well, at least I didn't deliver a cheesy monologue like they always do, giving the hero a chance to catch me off guard. But it's clear this was a waste of time. I had hoped you'd be ready for the final trial, but you three failed miserably."
With a snap of her fingers, jagged spikes shot up from the ground, impaling the limbs of the Rooks and leaving them helpless and in excruciating pain. Mako grinned wickedly as she watched them struggle.
"Any last words before you all become a part of me, and I reset this world?" she taunted.
Renato managed to maintain a defiant grin, which piqued Mako's curiosity. "Oh, I have one. Have you heard anyone singing yet?"
"Huh?" Mako's confusion was short-lived as a sudden explosion erupted, sending her flying backward in agony. She looked up, only to see that the restrained trio had transformed into puddles of blood.
"Illusions? Impossible!" Mako yelled in frustration as she clutched her injured body. Then, she realized something was wrong with her, or rather, Aiko's body as she looked down seeing blood on her.
A voice emerged from behind Mako, causing her to turn around in shock. There stood Renato, Alexa, and Neon, free from any restraints, alongside Yahan, Homura, and Karasuba. Renato especially was removing a platinum dagger from Mako's blood before flicking the blood in a random direction.
"Blood clones," Alexa explained, "infused with our aura to make it impossible to distinguish from the real us."
"Always pays to have a trick or two up your sleeve," Renato added, a sly grin on his face. "And now, the tables have turned. Notice something off about your body too?"
Mako, frustrated and outfoxed, could only stagger back and stammer in response.
"Wondering about how our Sekirei got through when they were meant to be blocked from doing so?" Alexa continued, revealing their premeditated plan.
An hour earlier, before the trials began…
Before the groups began the trials, a conversation unfolded between Alexa, Neon and Renato:
Neon voiced his confusion, "You want us to do what?"
Alexa clarified, her tone resolute, "We need to bestow specific items filled with our aura upon our most capable Sekirei. These items will serve to conceal their presence and allow us to summon them to our side."
Renato, always analytical, inquired, "What inspired this plan?"
Alexa's explanation followed, her words reflecting her keen observation. "I sensed something unusual about the portal. There seems to be an identification system linked to Sekirei and Ashikabi. My deduction is that the final trial is meant exclusively for us and is designed to prevent our Sekirei from passing through."
Neon, catching on, remarked, "Mako is trying to isolate us, setting a trap of some sort."
Renato added his insight, "The items imbued with our aura would offer our most formidable Sekirei a means to bypass these restrictions."
With clarity in mind, Alexa posed the question, "Exactly. So, are you all in on this plan?"
…
Karasuba chimed in, acknowledging the craftiness of the plan. "You're a crafty woman, Alexa."
Yahan nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it was a brilliant plan."
Homura added with pride, "I had no doubt in your capabilities."
Neon couldn't help but grin at Mako's predicament. "It's open season on you, Mako, and we all have our hunting licenses."
Alexa summed it up with determination. "Time to finish this, you crazy lunatic."
Mako's expression contorted with a volatile mix of desperation and fury as she stood resolute at the center of the arena. Her unwavering determination had weathered countless formidable foes in the past, but now, she faced a trio of successors whose legacy of strength and tenacity surpassed anything she had ever encountered.
With the final battle set to begin, Mako wasted no time. She launched a salvo of fireballs and icicles at her adversaries, her determination driving her to bring an end to this long-standing feud once and for all.
However, her plans were immediately disrupted as Homura, with his mastery of fire manipulation, countered her attacks with a volley of his own fireballs. The battlefield crackled with energy as the two forces clashed.
Amidst the chaos, Alexa took charge, her voice cutting through the turmoil. "You four, get in there while Homura and I provide support."
Neon, never one to take orders lightly, retorted, "Who said you could order me around? Fine, Kara-chan, let's go!" With his double-bladed sword in hand, he charged forward, and Karasuba followed with a wicked grin.
Renato, always quick with a quip, added a touch of humor to the intense moment. "Let's see if Mako can dance, Yahan."
Yahan replied with determination, "Sure." as she trailed closely behind him.
Mako, undeterred, unleashed another salvo of spells, this time a relentless barrage of dark and light spears. Alexa and Homura did their best to intercept what they could. Meanwhile, Renato, Neon, Yahan, and Karasuba moved with remarkable synchronicity, expertly navigating through the storm of projectiles.
Seeing the quartet closing in, Mako conjured elemental constructs to thwart their advance. However, it proved futile as Neon and Karasuba sliced through the constructs with effortless precision, while Renato and Yahan went through the opening and closed in on Mako. Then Mako unleashed chain lightning, but to her dismay, the duo danced gracefully to the side, dodging the deadly bolts with perfect synchronization as they got closer.
In a desperate final act, Mako manifested two gleaming swords in her hands, wielding them with frantic determination to fend off the flurry of deadly blades closing in on her. However, this defense proved to be short-lived as Renato executed a devastating cross slash, shattering her weapons into shards.
Yahan, swift and precise, followed up by launching a relentless series of stabs and slices upon Mako, each strike cutting through her defenses and leaving a trail of crimson in its wake. It was a relentless dance of combat, a culmination of their shared history and the weight of their purpose.
Renato, seizing the opportunity, brought the sequence to a chilling climax. He thrust his wakizashi forward, piercing Mako's chest and delivering a surge of electrical energy that coursed through her, eliciting a harrowing, agonized screech.
When it was over, Renato kicked the burnt and bloodied body away from his weapon, and Mako, now nothing more than a broken and lifeless figure, crumpled to the ground like a discarded sack of potatoes. The battle had reached its grim conclusion, leaving behind a battlefield marked by destruction and the echoes of their determination to end this chapter of their shared history.
…
Mako lay there, her body bloodied and scorched, a testament to her defeat at the hands of three formidable super soldiers and three exceptionally powered aliens. Surprisingly, instead of lamenting or clinging to defiance, she appeared to be at peace with her fate.
Her voice, though weak, carried an air of acceptance as she spoke, "I can't believe I forgot about THAT dagger in Mace's, or should I say, your horde, Renato?"
Renato's response was measured and calm, "Well, Mace informed me about it before we merged, and Alexa's plan gave me the opening to use it on you."
Mako, her strength waning, acknowledged with a faint murmur, "Indeed... Well, congratulations. You've... passed my final test. Now, I can leave this mortal plane for good."
"Test? What do you mean?" Alexa inquired.
"I doubt it's anything important." Neon dismissed.
"I'll be the judge of that." Alexa replied.
In a raspy, weakened voice, Mako confessed, "It was never just about me or my ambitions. I did all of this to make you three ready, to forge you into the formidable warriors you needed to become."
The trio exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of surprise and skepticism. But Mako's words held weight, and they listened intently.
Mako continued, her voice tinged with urgency, "The chaotic evil god, Rovagug, the deity of monsters, war, and destruction, teeters on the precipice of escaping his once-inescapable prison. A hairline crack appeared, caused by the ill-fated encounter of a group of pathfinders. They stumbled upon it, and only through a grueling battle did they barely manage to escape with their lives intact. You, Neon, have inherited knowledge of Rovagug from Samara, and you understand the unspeakable devastation he can unleash upon our world."
"Yeah, I do," Neon replied with a somber tone. "Samara's your daughter, whom you damned to the negative energy plane because her father is Rovagug. All of this happened because you and your party stumbled into his prison due to your reckless actions."
This revelation sent shockwaves through the group. The implications of Mako's past actions and the tangled web of relationships were almost too much to bear.
Mako, weakened but strangely at peace, let out a weak chuckle. "Yes, it's true... and I still regret everything, even when I tried to make amends." Her admission hung heavy in the air, a poignant reminder of the complex and often tragic nature of their shared history. Still with that, the gravity of the situation wasn't ignored. Rovagug was a name synonymous with cataclysmic chaos and annihilation, a force that could bring their world to its knees if they weren't prepared.
"We recognize the threat. We can't let Rovagug escape. We need to prepare, to be ready for when he comes." Renato spoke for the group.
Alexa and Neon nodded in agreement, their determination unwavering. They understood that this was a foe they couldn't afford to underestimate.
In her final act, Mako did something unexpected yet strangely compassionate. She made a deliberate move to remove the kill switch of Minaka, ensuring that the Sekirei wouldn't face an untimely demise once she passed. It was a small but significant gesture, a final attempt to right some of the wrongs she had committed.
But her actions held an even greater surprise. An old friend, one believed to be lost forever, also came back to life - Ron Russell, Neon's godbrother. Ron stood there, his expression a mix of disbelief and wonder, as he found himself back in the world of the living after being absorbed by Aiko.
Mako's voice carried a note of explanation as she added, "I'd figured you'd need the prototype bounty rook himself to help you guys too." Her words were a testament to the depths of her planning, even in her final moments, to aid those who had bested her. The three rooks and their sekirei didn't expect that piece of information but decided to deal with that later. Now fully aware of the impending danger, they all felt a mixture of gratitude and urgency. They knew they had to rise to the occasion, to stand as a bulwark against the malevolent force of Rovagug. With Mako's warning, they could now better prepare, perhaps even take the fight to Rovagug himself, and endeavor to seal his prison even tighter than before.
As Mako's life slipped away, her parting words bore a profound significance. "You must succeed where I failed. Save our world from Rovagug's wrath and correct the gravest mistake I and my old friends ever made."
With newfound purpose and determination, the three Rooks and their loyal Sekirei pledged to honor Mako's warning and confront the looming threat of Rovagug head-on, ready to protect their world from the impending cataclysm.
…
With the battle concluded, Renato, Alexa, and Neon emerged from the chamber, their expressions heavy with the weight of their recent trials. Yahan, Karasuba, and Homura accompanied them, forming a united front that seemed to radiate both exhaustion and resolve.
Their return was met with a mixture of relief and anticipation as their remaining Sekirei, who had anxiously awaited their ashikabis' reappearance, gathered around. Miya, Kazehana, and Train, ever perceptive, sensed the profound change in their ashikabis, as if they had aged a hundred years in the span of their absence.
In response to their inquiries, Renato, Alexa, and Neon let out weary sighs and proceeded to share the details of their hard-fought victory against Aiko/Mako, the successful elimination of Minaka's kill switch, and the ominous new threat in the form of Rovagug. They also introduced Ron Russell, Neon's godbrother and the prototype bounty rook upon whom their own existence had been based. These revelations sent shockwaves through their circle, underscoring the harsh reality that their safety remained precarious until Rovagug was neutralized.
The news rippled through the Ashikabi community as well. Minato, Chiho, and Yukari were nearly driven to heart attacks by the gravity of the new situation. Takami, having heard the dire news, found herself needing to increase her dose of painkillers and discard her pack of cigarettes in order to cope with the overwhelming weight of the unfolding crisis. It was a sobering reminder that their world was far from secure, and the battle against Rovagug loomed large on the horizon.
…
The long-awaited day of reckoning arrived, and it proved to be a brutal test of wills. Rovagug, the chaotic evil god of monsters, war, and destruction, made his attempt to escape from his prison, sending shockwaves of fear and despair through the world.
However, Renato, Alexa, Neon, and their loyal Sekirei and allies stood ready to confront this malevolent deity. They understood that they couldn't kill a god, but they possessed the strength and determination to repel him, sealing him back within his prison and fortifying it to prevent any future escape.
Renato's unique position, having inherited favors owed to Mace from past dealings, played a pivotal role. Through arduous diplomacy and leveraging these favors, he managed to call upon two powerful entities - Sarenrae, the Everlight, and Asmodeus, the Archfiend. Both held a deep-seated disdain for Rovagug, and their arrival marked a turning point in the battle.
The combined might of Renato, Alexa, Neon, Sarenrae, and Asmodeus was formidable. Together, they orchestrated a plan that not only stopped Rovagug's rampage but also ensured his return to confinement within his prison. Sarenrae and Asmodeus left no room for doubt, securing the prison with enchantments and safeguards that made any future escape impossible.
The battle came at a great cost, with numerous injuries and casualties suffered by their side. But in the end, Renato, Neon, and Alexa, with the unwavering support of their allies, succeeded in protecting their world and loved ones from the impending apocalypse. Their resolute actions and difficult choices had averted disaster, and a fragile peace settled over the realm once more.
In the aftermath of the cataclysmic battle, the world governments made a collective decision not to pursue the Sekirei, the three Bounty Rooks, or the prototype any further. Their choice was influenced not only by the staggering losses they had endured but also by the undeniable weight of Renato's veiled promise — a promise that foretold any future ventures against them would inevitably lead to epic failure and potentially more devastating consequences.
Finally, Renato, Neon, and Alexa found the opportunity to embrace a semblance of peace. With their Sekirei by their side, they embarked on a journey to savor the simple joys of their new, tranquil existence, free from the shadows of past conflicts and the looming specter of impending battles.
END.
Finally, I have been able to finish this story! Never thought it would take this long to finish but wow…I'm finally done.
Anyways what do you think of the finale? It took a while to get it done and I had to make changes all over. Still it was a pain to do so as I didn't want to screw up the ending as many like this story a lot.
With this one over and done with I can maybe finish my other stories that need to be dealt with.
Thank you all for being with me on this crazy road and now I can finally relax and not have this in the back of my mind nagging at me.
