Showing old geezers how it's done: Chapter 5

Chapter Start

Unknown Time, Unknown Place:

The force had long been... irritated by his intervention, Rob could feel that. He could also feel the force pushing back against his decision to alter the gender of the chosen one and eventually came to the decision that a compromise could be made.

He was unfortunately 'only' an ascended being and didn't have the power the creator was able to call on so this compromise was necessary. All for his entertainment as he liked to say.

October 1982 / 43 BBY, Coruscant, Jedi Temple:

It was a quiet and relaxed day in the Jedi Temple and Harry felt unusually serene as he walked down the hall to get to his initiate class. Despite being Master Dooku's chosen padawan, for now his status was that of a youngling / initiate but simply the fact that he was guaranteed to have a famous Jedi like Dooku as his master earned him a lot of jealousy and so he found himself quickly isolated from most other initiates around his age. It was pretty frustrating, he had hoped being shunned from the others his age would be something he had left behind at Hogwarts.

'Alas, it was not to be. Kids are apparently the same little shits everywhere' he thought a little morously and with more than just a little annoyance. He quickly moved his mind to more happy thoughts as he didn't want a Jedi knight or master see the negative emotions on his face. It was not all bad though, a young Twilekian girl named Aayla Secura that was 2 years younger than him was one of the few to approach him. Still, she was the only one and other than her he had only Obi Wan and his group of friends as companions.

Being basically the outcast initiate had it's upsides too however. The knights and masters (except Master Dooku) of course weren't paying him a lot of attention and noone except Aayla and Obi Wan noticed when he would spend all of his free time in his quarters sometimes. He didn't know how much time he had until the Invasion of Naboo would take place so he practiced his wandless magic and occlumency every chance he got.

Sometimes he was still surprised how much more focused he now got on his goals but he had learned from his days in Hogwarts where he fooled around a lot instead of applying himself in order so survive. Also, if he wanted to save the galaxy from Sidious and with that countless innocent people, he had to become as skilled as he could as soon as possible.

January 1984 / 41 BBY, Tatooine, Anchorhead:

In the dimly lit quarters of a small Tatooine slave hovel, Shmi Skywalker lay on a rough cot, beads of sweat glistening on her forehead as she clutched the sides of the makeshift bed. Her labor pains were coming in waves, growing more intense with each passing hour. The air was hot and stifling, and the room was filled with the hushed murmurs of the two fellow slave girls, Emis G'pen and Sierra Lagonis, who had come to her aid in her time of need.

Emis, a kind-hearted Twi'lek, wiped Shmi's brow with a damp cloth, offering soothing words of encouragement. "You're doing well, Shmi. Just breathe. The baby will be here soon. Just don't die on us here, Shmi."

Sierra, a sturdy and resourceful human, had gathered clean rags and a small basin of water. She knew they had to make do with what they had in their less than ideal situation.

Shmi nodded, her face contorted with pain but determination shining in her eyes. "Thank you, both of you. I can feel them coming."

The labor was long and arduous, but Shmi endured it with remarkable strength. As the twin suns of Tatooine hung low in the sky, she gave one final, powerful push, and the room was filled with the cries of not one, but two newborns.

Emis and Sierra worked quickly to clean and swaddle the infants. The firstborn, a baby boy, had a shock of dark hair and the piercing blue eyes of his mother. Shmi cradled him in her arms, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. "Anakin," she whispered, bestowing the name she had chosen for him.

The second newborn, a baby girl, was just as beautiful, with her mother's dark hair and delicate features. Shmi held her close, her heart brimming with love. "Anne," she said, her voice filled with tenderness.

Emis and Sierra shared a glance, knowing that these births were miracles in their harsh world. The Force seemed to shine upon these children, for they were born healthy and strong.

As the newborn twins nestled in their mother's arms, Shmi felt a profound sense of gratitude for the support of her fellow slaves. She knew that the path ahead would not be easy, but she was determined to protect and nurture her children, Anakin and Anne, and give them a better future, no matter the challenges that lay ahead on the unforgiving sands of Tatooine.

December 1984 / 41 BBY, Peaceful Accord:

The Republic diplomatic cruiser, christened the "Peaceful Accord," cruised through the inky blackness of space, its destination the planet Eriadu. Onboard, Jedi Master Dooku stood in the elegant chambers designated for the Republic delegation. Beside him were several diplomats, including Senator Talia Kael, a staunch advocate for peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

Eriadu was a crucial hub for galactic trade, and the ongoing dispute between the Eriadu Mining and Shipping Corporation and the Galactic Trade Federation threatened to disrupt the economic balance of the region. Chancellor Kalpana had asked the Jedi Council for help who in turn had dispatched Dooku to facilitate negotiations and find a peaceful resolution.

As the cruiser traversed the interstellar expanse, Dooku meditated, fighting back at the slowly increasing darkness that, a few months ago, had started to restrict the Jedis' techniques to look into the force for possible futures.

'It is quite mysterious but it shows that we might have lost our touch far more than I originally anticipated. I really hope that young Peverell will validate the expectations I have of him in the future' he thought to himself.

Shortly after the Peaceful Accord exited hyperspace, the delegates gathered to discuss their approach. Dooku, a tall figure draped in Jedi robes, stood at the center of their conversation, his aura exuding an air of authority.

"We must remember that our mission is to bring about a peaceful resolution," Dooku emphasized. "The people of Eriadu are depending on us to end this dispute."

Senator Kael nodded in agreement, her sharp gaze fixed on the Jedi Master. "Of course, Master Dooku. We will do our best to ensure a peaceful outcome."

Their conversation was suddenly shattered by a series of blaring alarms. The cruiser shuddered as it was rocked by powerful impacts. Klaxons wailed, and the lighting flickered ominously.

"We're under attack!" a crew member, running into the chambers, shouted in panic.

Dooku's senses heightened as he reached out with the Force, sensing the presence of multiple ships approaching. Pirate vessels, marauders of the void, had descended upon the Republic cruiser.

He could feel that the largest of the vessels had attached itself to the Peaceful Accord's hull and was starting to cut holes into it's hull.

Senator Kael and the diplomats clung to their seats as the cruiser started to be boarded by the audacious pirates. Dooku ignited his lightsaber, it's blue blade casting an eerie glow across his face. He moved with calculated grace, positioning himself between the diplomats and the invaders.

The chamber doors hissed open, revealing a group of pirates, armed to the teeth and driven by desperation and greed. Their leader, a scarred and grizzled pirate captain, strode confidently to the forefront.

"You there, Jedi," the pirate captain sneered. "Hand over the diplomats, and we'll spare your life."

Dooku's response was swift and precise. He lunged forward, his lightsaber a blur. The first pirate to challenge him was met with a deft parry and a lethal strike. The pirate crumpled to the floor, his blaster clattering from his grasp.

Panic rippled through the invaders as they realized the futility of their assault. Blaster bolts flew errantly, impacting walls and equipment. Dooku moved with the precision of a seasoned warrior, deflecting bolts and incapacitating pirates with calculated strikes.

The battle raged throughout the cruiser's narrow corridors and chambers. Dooku's lightsaber danced through the chaos, and his foes fell one by one. He led the defense, directing the Republic crew to secure key areas and protect the diplomats.

Soon the pirates on the Peaceful Accord were defeated and Dooku bordered the Pirate's vessel, walking through the hallways with a determined gaze while he slaughtered himself though the groups of resisting pirates.

As Dooku finally reached the bridge, he encountered the pirate captain once more. The pirate, his bravado shattered, clutched a blaster with trembling hands.

"You've lost," Dooku declared, his voice unwavering.

The pirate captain hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting around the bridge. Realizing the futility of resistance, he dropped his blaster and raised his hands in surrender.

Back on the cruiser's bridge, order was gradually restored while the surviving pirates were taken into custody, and the wounded were attended to. Dooku's lightsaber, its blade now extinguished, hung at his side as a symbol of his unwavering commitment to peace.

With the threat of the pirates neutralized, the "Peaceful Accord" continued on its journey to Eriadu. Dooku's mission to resolve the trade dispute now held even greater urgency, for the galaxy's balance depended on it.

The cruiser resumed its course, gliding through the starry expanse, while Jedi Master Dooku contemplated the challenges that awaited him on Eriadu and the importance of diplomacy in a galaxy where the echoes of conflict reverberated across the stars.

The mission would end in disappointment for Dooku as all his efforts to aid the republic diplomats were rebuffed by the increasingly aggressive diplomats from the Galactic Trade Federation. The negotiations took weeks but failed ultimately and the Trade Federation revoked their earlier promised help to the Eriaduans against the increasing attacks by pirates.

September 1985 / 40 BBY, Ilum:

It was finally the time for Harry to get his lightsaber crystal and he was not one bit less excited than the other younglings on the transport ship with him.

Among them were Nahdar Vebb, a Mon Calamari with curious eyes, and Aayla Secura, a Twi'lek with striking blue skin.

He would get to meet Grandmaster Yoda for the first time, or so he was secretly told by Obi Wan, and while he generally liked the small Jedi, he always kept in mind how Yoda's arrogance and passive nature caused the Jedi order to decline and eventually almost go extinct. To then wallow in his misery on Dagobah all that time until his death instead of later helping the rebellion was even worse in his opinion.

A/N: I know why Yoda stayed on Dagobah of course but Harry has only seen the movies and it was never really explained why he stayed there in the Original Trilogy, or atleast I cannot remember that being the case.

Then there was this padawan of course, Ro Malafe, he thought the girl was introduced as. The girl had a different sort of arrogance than Yoda, while Yoda was arrogant he was still kind but Malafe constantly looked down upon him and the other younglings.

"Hey Peverell, feeling special again?" speaking of the devil, here she was. He turned around and saw the teenage Zeltron girl sneering down at him making Harry question once again how the girl managed to pass the initiate trials.

"No Malafe, some people just prefer a little bit of quite. It helps with meditation not that you would know anything about that" he snarked back at her. He couldn't help it, she just rubbed him the wrong way.

"Careful Peverell, you do not want to make an enemy of me." she said trying to appear dangerous. Harry suppressed the sudden nervousity that wanted to consume him, during the past months he found himself more and more aware of a potential problem.

It had been long time since he appeared in this galaxy and he had soon realised his sudden lack of maturity. The problem? During the past few months, memories appeared in his mindscape, memories that were not of Harry Potter but of a young boy.

His slowly improving occlumency meant that he could now see that those memories had always been there but that he had no access to them until now. It also meant, he had realised, that those memories had unknown to him affected his behaviour at times and were still doing so.

It was annoying but it also had the positive effect that it wasn't too hard to play the role of a kid as Dooku was very perceptive and he really didn't want to be under the Jedi Master's scrutiny anymore than he most likely already was.

"Whatever, can you leave me be now?" he said, turning away from her.

"Hmpf, I am keeping my eye on you, weirdo" she said, huffing and finally leaving the area of the ship he was in. Shaking his head he returned to what he had been doing before Malafe had appeared.

A few days later and the transport ship touched down on the icy surface of Ilum, its engines humming softly as the landing ramp descended. Harry, along with the group of fellow Jedi younglings, stood in silence as they disembarked onto the frozen landscape.

The snow storm immediately caused them to cover their faces and the planet's frigid air cut through their robes, reminding them of the harsh conditions they were about to face.

Ilum had never appeared in the movies and so Harry had no idea what was coming for him. Leading the group of younglings was Malafe who turned around, seemingly not affected by the harsh conditions.

"I forgot to tell you this earlier but since you were at the top of your class you are the first of your peers to embark on this journey" she yelled at them through the noise made by the snow storm. "Now come, the sun has risen and we must hurry" the Zeltron girl continued to yell before turning around again and walking into the distance, Harry and the other younglings following.

"Not the most hospitable place" Aayla muttered besides Harry and he could sympathise. In one of their many conversations they had talked both about Nar Shaddaa and Ryloth and he had gotten to know that Ryloth was a very warm planet and that most Twilekians were thus even less accostumed to icy temperatures than humans were.

"Yeah I think that is kinda the point" he muttered back earning a frustrated glance from Aayla in response.

They continued to walk through the icy nothingness that was the current environment until they had reached a.. giant wall made out of ice? Harry wasn't quite sure.

Malafe turned around again yelling "Now come on guys, reach out to the force with me. Teamwork is important here otherwise we will not be able to move forward".

The girl then turned to the ice wall and raised her hand towards it with Harry and the others following her example. He reached out to the force and could feel it slowly responding.

After a few seconds the center of the ice wall started to break and collapse, revealing a massive gate with a comparetively small entrance. Walking through it they entered a giant hall, with statues depicting Jedi temple guards made out of ice in several spots but it wasn't just the statues that were out of nice, no everything was.

"That's Master Yoda" exclaimed Nahdar Vebb, one of Harry's fellow younglings and indeed, there the old Jedi sat on top of a small podest in the center of the hall.

When they reached him they bowed respectfully, standing at attention as they eagerly awaited his words.

Master Yoda, the wise and revered Jedi Grand Master, stood up before the younglings, his small form radiating authority.

"The force made physical a Jedi is" he said in his characteristic manner, his voice filled with centuries of knowledge and experience and Harry resisted the urge to facepalm. What did that even mean?

"Comes great responsibility with that, yes. Protect others how does a Jedi, hmm?" Yoda continued, asking them something but obviously not expecting a response as a small lightsaber hilt started floating in front of him. The lightsaber ignited with a green blade, slowly rotating in front of the younglings.

"Build your own lightsaber you shall but first harvest your crystal each of you must." he said causing the other younglings to start muttering excitedly to eachother while Harry stayed silent. So this was to be the point where he would become an actual Jedi, interesting.

Yoda deactivated his lightsaber saying "The heart of the lightsaber the crystal is, focus the force from the Jedi it does".

Yoda then looked up to the ceiling and raised his hands, causing windows near the ceiling to open.

Sunlight entered the hall, hitting a giant ice crystal in the center, a few metres below the ceiling. The sunlight split in the crystal and was strayed in all directions while a smaller crystal, attached to the larger one via a metal construction, rotated in place and focused the sunlight on a large gate like structure on the other end of the hall.

The ice in between the structure immediately started to melt, the water flowing into the hall and disappearing through the ground, though Harry wasn't quite sure how.

"If Jedi you are to become, enter the crystal cave you must. Trust yourself, trust eachother and trust in the force and succeed you will."

The younglings nodded, their anticipation mingling with a hint of nervousness.

The entrance to the caves loomed before them, a dark, foreboding portal into the heart of the icy mountain. Master Yoda led the way, his green lightsaber casting an emerald glow on the crystalline walls.

He stopped at the sight of the entrance and gestured them forwards, the group of younglings nervously, some more some less, following the silent order and entering the crystal caves.

As they ventured deeper into the cave system, the temperature dropped, and the air grew even colder. The sound of their footsteps echoed in the narrow passages, creating an eerie symphony in the frozen darkness.

Harry found himself quickly separated from the group as they navigated a tunnel. He reached out with the Force to sense their presence but felt only the icy walls surrounding him. Undeterred, he let the Force be his guide, trusting it to lead him back either to his fellow younglings or to his crystal.

Walking through a particularly treacherous tunnel, a ghost started to materialise in front of him, depicting what must have been an elderly Jedi when she lived.

"Hmmmm, you do not belong here, do you?" she asked mysteriously.

"Uhm, I am sure I do not know what you mean, I am one of the best of my youngling class and have worked hard to be here." he said, lying through his teeth in a poor attempt of humour as if he didn't know what she meant.

"Deception works even less around here than it does in other places, youngling... I know what you are, Harry Peverell" she said, pronouncing his name in a weird way. "The force may tolerate your existence and the intervention of the ascended being but do not think that you are allowed to do as you please." she said causing him to raise an eyebrow.

"And what exactly is that supposed to mean?" he asked curiously.

"The will of the force must be followed. Do not intervene in the path of the chosen one for it is aware that you know who he is. The chosen one must fulfill his destiny, that is the will of the force."

Was she saying what he thought she was saying?

"Wait does the force really want the chosen one to destroy the Jedi Order?" asked incredulously. She nodded sagely, floating circles around him slowly.

"Not only the Jedi but also the Sith. Balance must be achieved"

"You cannot expect me to just ignore what is to come, I will not let thousands of innocents die because their leadership has become stagnant."

Immediately after saying those words, Harry could feel the air change around him. The serenity started to fade and even the ghost now looked far more serious than before.

"The force does not tolerate intervention, disobedience will be met with harsh repercussions. Balance must be achieved at all costs. It will allow you to act as you please however under the condition that balance is achieved. Choose your future wisely. Now, continue your journey." the ghost said and it started to fade away but not before saying "On a personal note, young Peverell, I wish you good luck and please think about the following words. The Jedi Order may not survive but that doesn't mean that the innocents will have to die."

Seconds later Harry was alone in the tunnel once more, so he chose to continue his journey while thinking over the ghost's words.

That the force wouldn't allow him to change Anakin's destiny sucked immensely so he would have to find some other way to prevent the rise of the empire. But how could he do that if he had to stand by and watch the Jedi Order be destroyed at the end of the Clone Wars?

Originally he had planned to rise throughout the ranks of the Order and slowly change it if he had enough time before the Clone Wars started. He would take Anakin as his padawan and raise him instead of just training him, preventing the death of Anakin's mother before the events of the second movie.

He would also try to prevent Sidious from becoming chancellor if possible though now that he thought about it, was that truly wise? He would be in unknown territories then and surely the Sith had a plan B and C, right?

In anyway, taking Anakin as his padawan and preventing his fall wasn't really an option anymore, was it?

'Eh I will think about that later, let's just focus on the kyber crystal now' he thought to himself.

Time seemed to blur as Harry followed the twists and turns of the cave. The icy walls shimmered with an otherworldly beauty, casting reflections of his presence in the frozen crystals.

The sensation of being deep within the heart of the mountain weighed on him, and he began to wonder if he had gone too far. But the force still urged him on and so he continued walking through the tunnel, realising that he was continiously walking downhill.

Just as he considered turning back, Harry emerged into a vast cavity within the mountain. The chamber was awe-inspiring, with walls of glistening ice that seemed to pulse with an inner light. In the center of the cavern stood a cluster of massive Kyber crystals, their radiant cores filling the space with a mystical, ethereal glow.

As Harry stood in the heart of the icy cavern, surrounded by the radiant Kyber crystals, he couldn't help but feel an inexplicable pull. The Force whispered to him, guiding him toward the crystal meant for him, but it didn't provide a clear path. Instead, it offered cryptic hints, like the faint glow of distant stars in the night sky.

He took a step forward, drawn deeper into the cavern. The ice beneath his boots crackled with each footfall, echoing through the chamber. The crystals that surrounded him seemed to shimmer and dance with an inner light, casting strange shadows on the walls.

The young Jedi closed his eyes for a moment, centering himself in the Force. He felt the energy of the Kyber crystals resonating with his own presence. They held the answers he sought; he was certain of it.

With newfound determination, Harry followed the Force's gentle guidance. He navigated the cavern's treacherous terrain, avoiding jagged stalactites and navigating around icy pools. At one point, he had to traverse a narrow ledge along a sheer drop, the abyss below hidden in darkness. His heart pounded as he took each careful step, his balance tested to its limits.

Suddenly, an unexpected avalanche of ice and snow rumbled overhead. Harry looked up just in time to see a massive chunk of ice hurtling toward him.

Instinctively, he reached out with the Force, pushing against the incoming danger. It was not enough however and he threw himself to the side shortly before the ice shattered on the ground besides him, fragments cascading around him in what seemed like a large explosion.

He stood up unharmed, though the close call left him breathless. Or atleast that's what he thought at first as pain soon spread from his left leg when the adrenaline began to wear off. Wincing from the pain he used the force to dull it and he began examining his leg, finding multiple ice shards that had embedded themselves in his skin and had cut deep into his leg. It hurt immensely but he gritted his teeth and went on, deciding that he was too close to his objective to turn around now.

As he continued his journey, the Force's guidance became clearer. It led him to a wall of ice that seemed different from the rest. The surface was smoother, almost as if it had been shaped by some ancient hand.

Harry cautiously approached the wall and placed his palm against it. A soft humming, like the resonance of a tuning fork, vibrated through his hand and up his arm. The sound was enchanting, filling him with a sense of wonder and awe.

Gently, he pressed his palm harder against the ice. The surface yielded, revealing a concealed chamber within. Inside, nestled within a bed of frost, layed a single Kyber crystal, its hue a brilliant shade of vibrant yellow.

The crystal seemed to sing to him, its song a harmonious blend of power and serenity. Harry carefully reached out and cradled the crystal in his hand. As his fingers closed around it, he felt a profound connection, as if the crystal had been waiting for him, recognizing him as its destined guardian.

It took him what must have been almost 30 minutes but he eventually found his way back to the entrance to the massive cavity.

Harry's breath caught as he gazed upon the Kyber crystals in the cavity for a final time, their energy resonating with the Force. He felt varying levels of connections to them, as if these ancient and powerful relics held the secrets of the universe.

A few of them might have worked for him aswell but he was sure that the force had lead him to the ideal one.

He also felt a deep sense of isolation. He was alone in this vast, frozen chamber, separated from his fellow younglings. The weight of the moment pressed upon him, and he knew that he had to find his way back before the passage froze shut again.

With a determined resolve, Harry turned and retraced his steps, letting the Force guide him once more through the winding tunnels of the cave. He couldn't help but wonder about the significance of his journey within the heart of Ilum and what mysteries the Kyber crystals held for his future as a Jedi.

When he arrived at the passage, he found it frozen shut causing him to pace back and forth nervously. Thinking that he didn't have to lose anything at this point he threw himself against the ice repeatedly, successfully breaking through it after a number of attempts but also hurting both shoulders immensely with the action.

To his shock the cave was empty and he realised with a sinking feeling that he had been abandoned by Master Yoda.

'Why, Master Yoda, why? Are you so... unfeeling?' he screamed inside his head, his anger slowly getting the best of him.
He shook his head and calmed down again, his anger now slowly turning into misery as he walked through the hall and sat down, leaning against the gate that was now shut again. He began meditating, calling for help through the force with increasing desperation, hoping for someone to hear and rescue him.

End of Chapter

To SilveerKnighT: Sad to hear that, good analogy tho.

To GeorgeChristian810: Okay? Don't know why a simple gender change would be such a turn off but that doesn't matter here anyway. Found a way to satisfy your need for a male Anakin however.

To Otsutsuki No Yami: Lad, the talk with Rob is maybe 1/4 of Chapter 1, you stop doing other things so quickly aswell?

To Vukk:

Somewhat correct but not completely, but you'll see.

Correct, the age difference between the two when they meet is just a bit too high if you know what I mean.

There are plenty of females of note in this era. Riyo Chuchi, Bo Katan Kryce, Satine Kryce, Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, Aurra Sing (somewhat of note atleast)

To : Dude Omega is a child in 19 BBY, Harry is 7 in 43 BBY here, that is an age difference of what 26 years? why the hell would I pair those two? Other than that, it is unlikely Harry and Aurra will ever meet in this story so sorry no. Anyway the rest is pretty much spot on with the speculating.

To Tabu24: Hehe yeah much like when Harry went after Ginny. The Potter men and their red heads lmao.

To holdingoff: Pls reread that sentence. Plo Koon even said that Janus would be able to choose him so no inconsistency there.

To HolwerOne: I mean yeah obviously one sentence is going to follow another. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to insult you, but I don't see the issue here to be honest.

To Apollodorus13: I am not sure what exactly you're trying to tell me with your first review. Regarding the second one: Harry has to mature all over again and he had never been directly confronted with rape before, something that in my opinion must be traumatizing even if he wasn't the victim of the crime.

To Guest: I refer to my response to holdingoff's review.

To WhiteElfElder: You are correct, I am currently leaning towards a mix of Ataru and Soresu.

To InsaneCoop: Please reword that question in the end as I am not quite sure what you meant.
