"Hey, Rafa" The ADA could hear her tapping her fingers in the background of the voicemail. "I've been trying to reach you all day. I know you're busy but just please text me or something."
He shut the door to the interrogation room, dialing her number.
"Hello?"
"Adeline, I just got your message."
"Is everything okay?"
"No. I need you to get out of town for a few days?"
"What?"
"William Lewis is out. He has Detective Benson as his captive but it's all hitting the fan here."
"O-okay?"
"Get a few things together and just get on the train."
"Do you really think he would -?"
"I don't know. This guy is insane. I would just feel better knowing you're not going to cross paths with him."
"I, uh, I'll have Lyd handle the store and I will go away for a few days."
"Make sure she knows what he looks like. If they even think they see him, call the police. Call Special Victims directly if you have to."
"Alright."
"I've got to go shake down his lawyer and see what that stupid bitch has gotten herself and us into."
Adeline froze as she heard his tone. "Rafael?"
"Yes?"
"When this is over, just come get me." She sighed.
He sighed. "That's a great idea. I love you."
"I love you."
