Welcome to my new fan-fiction, this is the first story I have ever written so don't expect an amazing story. After reading probably hundreds of 'Harmione or Harmony' stories, I decided to start my own story.

This story takes place after the 'Battle of The Department of Mysteries' and we see Harry taking out his frustration on one of the only things that keeps him happy, magic. Harry is scared he will lose those he loves and decides to train for the 'Second Wizarding War'

The story is going to be a HHR romance, with slight Ron/Dumbledore bashing. It will be based on both the books and movies, and obviously my own twist.

- Ron is a jealous prat for a while when he realizes Harry and Hermione are developing feelings for each other, as he has a crush on Hermione. However, he eventually understands they were never compatible and remembers the importance of friendships during such troubled times.

-Dumbledore is a bit manipulative, doing things that hardly anyone approves of and holding secrets from everyone but still wants Harry to be happy. He still cares for Harry and eventually pulls his head out of the sand.

Chapter 1

"THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD APPROACHES. . . . BORN TO THOSE WHO HAVE THRICE DEFIED HIM, BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES . . . AND THE DARK LORD WILL MARK HIM AS HIS EQUAL, BUT HE WILL HAVE POWER THE DARK LORD KNOWS NOT . . . AND EITHER MUST DIE AT THE HAND OF THE OTHER FOR NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILE THE OTHER SURVIVES. . . . THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD WILL BE BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES. . . ."

Harry watched in horror as Sybil Trelawny spoke in the harsh, hoarse tones Harry had heard her use once before. Harry stumbled backward, away from Dumbledore's pensieve.

Dumbledore let out a heavy sigh. "Harry I understand this is a lot to take in. One of Tom's spies heard part of the prophecy and told him of it. This is why he went after you and your parents all those years ago. This is why he is still after you."

Feeling light-headed, Harry took a seat facing Dumbledore. "Are you sure it means - me?" Harry asked, struggling to breathe.

"Yes, however, Neville Longbottom also fits these conditions."

"Then why me?"

"You are forgetting a part in the prophecy, Tom has marked you as his equal, making you the 'Chosen One'."

Harry merely stared into Dumbledore's bright blue eyes, which no longer twinkled or gleamed in triumph. His face was significantly paler than Harry had remembered. Dumbledore was getting old.

Looking back at Harry, Dumbledore could see his pale face which was covered by cold sweat. Through his glasses, he could see those green eyes, so famously associated with his mother, Lily Potter. They had seemingly lost brightness and were replaced with slightly bloodshot and puffy eyes, masking dark green eyes. He had seen far too much for a 15-year-old boy.

The loss of his godfather, Sirius Black had shaken him to the core. He had only escaped Azkaban 2 years ago and rarely saw his godson. In a fit of rage, Harry chased after Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius's deranged cousin and the one responsible for his death, and used the cruciatus curse. Fortunately, Harry did not have the intent yet the power behind the spell was enough to send her to the floor.

Harry had almost lost his best friend, Hermione Granger. She was struck by a curse by Antonin Dolohov, one of Voldemort's more powerful death eaters. She was hospitalized for days and despite her consistent reminders that Harry was not at fault, he still felt guilty. She had warned him that it could have been a trap set to lure Harry in. However, due to Harry's persistence and urge to save the only family, excluding the Dursleys, he had left and his hero complex, Hermione along with Ron, Ginny, Luna, and Neville accompanied Harry to the ministry.

The prophecy's bombshell only amplified Harry's constant stress and anger.

"May I leave now?" Harry could only muster a whisper.

"Yes, of course."
-

Harry woke up early, today he was returning to the Dursleys. After another nightmare, Harry had only managed 3 hours of sleep. He saw sleep as a rare luxury now, his head practically exploding every night. He decided to pack his trunk and get ready for another long day.

Not in the mood for Ron's silly antics, he left to have a nice breakfast alone. Harry spent a few hours alone before he reluctantly met up with Ron and Hermione for the journey back to King's Cross. Harry found an empty compartment and quickly sat down, not waiting for his friends to catch up. The first few minutes of the ride were painfully silent, as Harry blankly stared out of the window, Hermione buried her face in a muggle novel and Ron shifting in his seat dying of boredom. Fortunately, the silence was finally broken by Ron.

"I'm gonna find Dean and Seamus, I'll see you guys later."

"Alright," Hermione muttered.

Despite enjoying the peaceful reading, Hermione could not help but send worried glances at Harry as he continued to stare out of the window. Oblivious to this, Harry jumped when Hermione cleared her throat.

"Where did Ron go?" Harry asked.

"He left, a few minutes ago to sit with Dean and Seamus," Hermione replied, struggling not to roll her eyes.

"Oh."

"Are you alright? You've been acting out of sorts ever since Sirius.."

"Yeah, I'm fine," Harry cut in.

"You're a really bad liar. I'm here you know, if you ever want to talk about it. You're my best friend Harry." Hermione responded. She took Harry's hand and gave him a sad smile.

"It's all my fault, I should've listened to you, you warned me but I didn't listen. He would still be alive and you wouldn't have been hit by that curse. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you. I'm such an idiot and I hate myself." Harry spoke softly. He buried his face into his palms to muffle his quiet sobs.

"Oh, Harry."

Hermione pulled Harry into one of her bear hugs. She could feel Harry shaking but this only made her pull him in tighter. They stayed in each other's embrace for what felt like hours and Harry eventually started to relax, his breathing starting to calm down. She slowly let go of him, happy she was able to calm him down.

"Better?"

"Yeah," Harry replied slightly embarrassed.

She took both of Harry's hands, "Harry it's not your fault, you were tricked by V-Voldemort to save Sirius, and despite the danger, you went to save him anyway. That just says how amazing you are.

"But-"

"No. Besides, we all knew the risks of what we were doing but we still decided to go anyway. That's not your fault." Hermione cut him off. "Please stop feeling guilty, no one blames you but yourself. Also, what would Sirius say? Would he want you to continue to mourn over him and blame yourself?"

"No, I guess not," Harry muttered.

She sighed, "Are you alright now?"

Harry nodded, "Yeah."

Blushing slightly, Hermione quickly pulled her hands back, realizing they were still holding hands. They fell into another silence, however, they felt at ease after simply talking to each other. The silence was yet again broken.

"Thank you, Mione, I needed that."

"Remember, I'm here for you."

"I know."

Harry gave her the best smile he could manage but his mind pondered back to the prophecy. He wanted nothing more than to tell her about it but decided not to ruin his good mood, he felt safe and appreciated around her. He sat back thinking about how lucky he was to have Hermione as a friend, he didn't deserve her. Hermione returned to her book and found she couldn't get rid of her smile no matter how hard she tried.

Finally, the effects of fatigue settled in. Before he knew it, Harry dozed off a smile etched onto his face.

Hermione slowly awoke from a warm and comfortable sleep, her head on someone's strong shoulder. The train was only a few minutes away from King's Cross Station, and Hermione was ecstatic to see her parents again. With the Second Wizarding War beginning, this could be one of the last times Hermione ever saw her parents again. However, her thoughts shifted back to a certain raven-haired wizard. Harry had been asleep for several hours and Hermione could see the dark circles under his eyes indicating a lack of sleep. She could only imagine the nightmares he was suffering from after the night Sirius died.

Careful not to wake Harry, she shifted, and Harry's head plonked onto her shoulder. Hermione blushed slightly and giggled as Harry's untamable hair tickled her soft skin.

She could feel the train slowing down, and as it came to a stop, Harry's head fell into Hermione's lap. Harry was still half-asleep, stirring. Hermione blushed again and started to play with his impossible hair.

Hermione jumped as the compartment door opened, she completely forgot Ron had accompanied them for the first few minutes of the ride as he retrieved his trunk. They said their goodbyes and Ron rolled his eyes when she had asked him to write over the summer.

Deciding they needed to leave, Hermione slowly shook Harry. "Harry wake up we're here."

Harry opened his eyes and blushed heavily when he realized he had been asleep with his head on Hermione's lap. He sprung up and took both of their trunks down. They hastily got off the train and onto the platform full of students joining their parents. Harry felt a sting of jealousy, reminded of what his summer would consist of. Harry had to spend a good chunk of his holiday at 4 Privet Drive, as Dumbledore insisted he needed to stay safe, especially after what happened at the Ministry only a few weeks ago. After that, he would be going elsewhere, he assumed 12 Grimmauld Place or The Burrow, either was better than living with the Dursleys. Harry and Hermione went through to the muggle side of the platform, where the Grangers and the Dursleys waited.

Harry felt bitter that he had to leave Hermione, however, he knew how important her parents were to her.

"Thank you, for everything Mione. I don't know what I would do without you."

"Will you be okay this summer? I know they aren't particularly fond of you."

Harry chuckled lightly, "Don't worry about it, I want you to have an amazing summer."

"Write to me? Please?" Hermione begged.

"Okay, I wi-"

"POTTER!" Vernon boomed, clearly wanting Harry to hurry up.

"I'll miss you," Harry sighed.

"Me too."

Hermione stood on tiptoes and kissed Harry's cheek.

"Stay safe Harry," Hermione whispered.

Harry blushed scarlet and gave her a last hug before sprinting off to find Vernon.

This was going to be a horrible summer.
